No shiza. I'll bet every, single carrier went "Ouch" when that hit. Better gear up the call centers fellas.

It doesn't inform them how to publish the apps to the market.
For all the negatives there are a lot of positives that can come of this.

It wont be malicious. I'm sure they're just rolling this thing out slowly like they did with Google Voice. It took me two weeks to get an invite from Voice. I bet it would take the same amount of time for this.

It's actually a google application, so I don't think so.

There is a $25 fee to register as a dev to be able to submit apps, hopefully that deters most of the crapware

Think they are really using this to get ideas from other peoples crap LOL. Then make it better. Love the royalty free part. If you come up with gold they get to put it out there and only pay you small amount of what you should get.

right now they are only opening the beta to pretty much teachers of some sort (for some reason its what i have read don't remember if it was on lifehacker or some other site) ... so basically when you filled out the app for the beta you should have put on there somewhere that you were a teacher... or just wait until its released to the public.

My nephew is really interested in app development, but he's 10 so teaching him how to build an app the good old fashioned way won't hold his interest. This on the other hand will. I signed up last night. We'll see.

I don't think the market could ever be as bad as when i was on 1.5
it was all soundboards, and the $25 fee will probably help as well

Building a research tool.
I'm gonna experiment with making apps for my own use - mainly data-mining. For instance, I'm going to build an app to automatically gather general econ data GDP, unemployment rates, Fed Funds rate, crude oil prices, etc.) so I can have them at my fingertips during class.
I'll probably do the world a favor & NOT put them on the market since no one would download it, unless I name it EconFart

Adventures of Andy the Android

Hi all,
Here is a small project that I posted in Android General. Just wanted to share with you guys. I think it is a great idea and it'll be a lot of fun! Take a look!

Mods, please move this thread to a more appropriate place if needed.
My name is Kevin, or aka DarkOnion. Many of you guys in the general Android community probably won't know me, but for those in the Droid X and Droid 2 community related the name DarkOnion to the scripts used to root the Droid 2 on Froyo and then the Droid X when 2.2 was made available. Anyways, that is not why I am here today. I just wanted to share an experiment that I am planning to start in the very near future.
It is kind of a social experiment of sorts. What I would like to do is send an Andy the Android plushy around and have people take pics of him doing cool things. Really anything you think would be cool. Trying to get the ball rolling. I got a website going, and I'll be setting up a blog in the near future to keep track of Andy's movements.

I don't mind about the request part. I just don't like the idea of mailing him. Especially across country. He just sits in a box for 5-7 days... But you certainly can request for him!

Dude, I got a great story. I got a friend who was like... why are you writing a root program, there is one that already exists. And I was like "What?!" I didn't know about it. just grabbed one for a little over a hundred on barnes and noble (which sold out less than two hours after i bought one).

I wanna part with the Nexus S, too. It's a pain using Chrome on Nexus S (I tried several ROMs already).
But I think I'll hold back till the end of the year. I hope Google's going to release another flag ship phone

The big Google settlement came through. I RECIEVED a check for almost 300$ yesterday for apps purchased since 2011. Went and got another Note 4 for wife. Thank you Google, but I did teensy in your mobile platform.

We were all having some fun and blowing off steam...no offense!!! But tell me..how did you miss $300 worth of unauthorized app purchases?

Google sent out an email. Some lawsuit about kids charging parents accounts from 2011 to 2014, you have to go you your account page and check which apps you say we're purchased without your consent. Then they review them and refund them. I don't think they review anything. They just refunded all of man

Fraud is always fraud even if they aren't checking.

That's probably something I wouldn't posted about on a forum. Like the post above this is certainly fraud.

Annnnnnnd that's where you crossed the line. We don't condone fraud 'round these parts. Sure, Google can afford it, but if everyone did that maybe they couldn't afford to give away all the things they do, not to mention IT'S WRONG.
