Hello, sorry for opening a new thread, but could not find any solution to my problem. i'm using JF adp1 1.41 ( you are da Man JF ! ) but have not been able so sync my calendar, neither wipe, nor reload of update.zip, nor clear data in application setting has worked sofar. when i select e.g. my calendar from the settings menue i get 'sorry!...select force or wait'.
anybody else has similar probs ?
strangely though that a snc worked with the calendar background application from the market.
could it be that the app is somewhat broken ?
thanks for any help
cheers

Everytime I try to sync or add a new calender, the app force closes.
Yep , have exactly the same problem, really irritating and loosing some of core function of the phone.
Actually mine works ok on ADP1.1 .
But it doesn't sync most of the appointments. When I delete the calendar online at Google and import a new calendar, G1 shows some appointments twice. Since October it actually hasn't synced one calendar completely and right.
Really buggy. All I want is my Google Online calendar to be synced correctly with my G1.
Subject line says it all.
Is there any way to change this? I couldn't find an obvious setting anywhere in any of the menus.
Scratch that, it seems it remembers the last calendar used, so once you've added an appointment to Google new ones default to it.
When I add an appointment to my calendar it adds it to My Calendar as default. Does anyone know how to default it to a google calendar like, other Android phones?

I am also having this problem. I would like to set the default calendar to be my Exchange calendar, so I don't have to remember to switch it every time I create an appointment.
did anyone ever come back with an answer on this? I would love to have a way to set google as my default calendar for syncing purposes...
I need this too, I just simply need the real android calander app back becuase I use the widgit from it to keep me alert of what I have to do when.
This stupid thing has this weird clock calender widget that takes a whole page and tells you nothing
I've looked everywhere I can, but I just can't find where to set a default calendar for new appointments. I can't believe they left such a simple and needed setting out.
I agree, this is very annoying. Hope this gets fixed either by a new ROM or an update.

Download another calendar application such as android agenda widget. They give you options to save.
Feeling Vibrant on xda-app
Thank god I'm not going crazy by myself with this - been looking for three days for a way to do this, thinking "it's an Android phone - surely you can set it to use your Google calendar as default!" But apparently I've been once again bitten by Samsung's crew of retarded engineers...
Yeah, this drives me up the wall, too. It's a shame, because I really love this calendar app.
Hopefully, they fix it. And if they never do, I'll just be sad.
I'm in the same boat here too going crazy over this.
Fyi, I gave instructions on how to do this in the sticky last night. I did it and it's FANTASTIC!
Download cyanogen 5.0.7 stable. I'll try and upload the files tonight if people need help.
I tried using the stock 2.1 app and it has that weird box on the top so I tried to push the touchwiz cal back but I have permission issues. Good thing I did a nandroid backup before I messed with it. I have resigned to just hitting new instead of long pressing in the calendar to add events and changing the default reminder to 15 min. Those 2 things are standard options that should be in any calendar made for android.
Hi All,
When entering a new event in the agenda it's automatically affected to "my calendar" (which is not sync with google agenda ) and for each appointment I need to think about switching to my google agenda account to enable sync.
I've couldn't find any way to set my google agenda account as my default agenda, nor deleting "my calendar".
This is very annoying, so if someone can help I'll appreciate.
I use to have the HTC Hero and I didn't have this problem.
Thanks
This is fixed in the leaked 2.2 ROMs, so until you update the firmware you have to live with it unfortunately.
Thanks. How do I update the firmware ?
Check out the Development section of these forums.
However: The 2.2 update is far from finished, and I wouldn't recommend using it unless you really want to try the latest firmwares. It's beta firmware at best.
Better to wait for the official update from Samsung unless you enjoy beta testing and working around bugs.
Ok thanks anyway
Try Jorte from Market. It can let you set default calendar. It's also more powerful than the stock one.
Jorte seems to work, thanks a lot
Maybe someone can post the 2.2 calendar apk?
yes, Jorte is great! it also shows small text in the month view of your calendars inputs, very nice! Think I won't go back to stock calendar even if they fix the "my calendar" issue.
With Jorte solving the google agenda sync problem and acontact solving the contact group sync problem, all my trouble seems so far away ....
Thanks guys. I got sync working on my KF. And I have done a lot of other things with my KF thanks to you guys.
Sorry to start a new thread but I didn't want to derail a sync thread when I have sync working. LOL
BTW a simple copy of the sync file to system/app, setting of permissions, and rebooting worked great for getting it to sync for me.
I have a problem with my calendar display.
The problem is that in week view or monthly view, the top of the calendar is cut off and doesn't show the holidays and birthdays like on my Droid X.
There is a gray bar up top. The gray bar also cuts off part of the first week in month view and 12:00AM in week view as well as the day of the week. The holidays and birthday calendars are enabled and are syncing.
Birthdays and holidays show up when I go to Agenda view so the data are there and sync'd.
It seems to be a display problem but I cannot see where to adjust the way it displays.
I am rooted and on 6.2.2
Screen caps from both KF and DroidX are attached of the same week view.
Any suggestions?
I have the same problem with the cut off top side. Of course, I have yet to be able to get it to sync either, so I haven't tried yet to fix it.
Just for curiosity, can you post which site you downloaded your calendar apk files from? I just want to cover all bases.
Brent
It was a link in one of the threads here on syncing. Can't remember. Sorry.
Also I forgot to post above versions of calendar.
On Droid it is 2.3.3 and on KF it is 2.3.7
I am sure that may have something to do with it. I am going to backup with titanium and try installing 2.3.3 on kf to see if it fixes it.
Man I love it now that I have Swype on my kf!
Well that didn't work. I guess titanium doesn't like restoring stuff backed up from other devices.
I guess I need to find the apk for 2.3.3
And Astro didn't show it in the list of apps to backup on my DroidX. I guess because it is a system app.
No luck finding an older version of calendar. Can't find anything on correcting the problem either.
Installed cm7 and calendar is working fine. Version 2.3.7
