Looks pretty ugly to me since the front border it still all black. Only the battery cover and very thin border around it are actually white.

Working on cars or around the house, my hands are often dirty, even if just a little bit. A soft white phone would look horrible in my possession after a short time. The only advantage to white/silver/metallic devices is that a scratch isn't as apparent as it is with darker colors.

Gaaahh... wtf is a matter with HTC only making the back cover white instead of the front as well. Could have been beautiful but the white, red, AND black make it look like crap

That's the reason I told my friend he was crazy to buy a white back iphone. Looks like sh#t!
I have it in good faith that the one in the picture in a black one and the other is just white...meaning the WHOLE phone is white, not just the back.

I had hope HTC had some sense but nope, I confirmed its THREE different colors on best buy's webpage:

...and once you put a cover on it no one will even KNOW its white since the front is still the original color....

I thought it would be interesting if HTC color coded the internals to match the carrier the phone is on. For instance, the Aria has a yellow interior but is on AT&T and should be blue. Then the EVO could have the yellow interior and verizon could have the red interior phones.

That would be cool, but I've noticed 2 patterns so far.
#1: Their GSM devices (Aria, HD2 Mini) have thus far had yellow innards. CDMA devices (Evo, Incredible) have had red.
#2: Lower to mid-range devices (Aria, HD2 Mini) have had yellow, whereas the higher end (Evo, Incredible) have had red.
There's probably a few more patterns to pick out, but that's all I've noticed so far.

I just got my Evo and wanted to see what it looked like with other colors, so I opened up photoshop and that's what you get. Might have to look into changing the color. I'm partial to the green.
I just made some blueprints so I think I'm gonna get it into CAD just to get some practice.
I added the blue prints to the bottom of the blog post

Hi everyone so I've had my evo for about 2 weeks now I slightly see some light were some people have had real big issues should I be worried...i mean you really have to be looking for it..i didn't even know wheee thee light was coming through.also at the bottom of the screen if you tilt the phone I can see the light from the menu buttons is this normal?

I think its normal, mine does it. I watched unboxing and reviews of EVOs on YouTube and it was pointed on on them too. I have a rubber around mine so the light leak is covered. I can also see the light leds if I turn the phone and look down from the screen. Its an obvious design flaw, im surprised they let it go like that.

I was about to go to sprint store for a exchange and also saw YouTube ones shown had same problems. I guess It's normal for HTC products...
Just hope dust going into it end up inside the lcd.

Me too its not that distracting I don't hold my phone at an angle that often.

Lol neither do I. It dosent bother me.
I can't believe how fantastic it looks compared to LCD. I'm a huge fan of saturated colors (I crank up digital vibrance on my computer), and now my EVO's LCD just looks washed out. Anyone else who switched from LCD to this?

I wouldn't say 'switched' so much, as my Droid is still my main phone, but yes; the screen is so much more beautiful and vibrant than my Droid's LCD. When my Verizon contract is up, SAMOLED will definitely be a requirement for my new phone.

I came from an N1 which had a nice AMOLED but the NS screen is soo much more vibrant. and the blacks are so....soo...black

^ When there's black on the screen, it's hard to tell where the screen stops and the casing begins! And when the phone is turned off, it just looks like one sexy slab of obsidian.
I ended up taking back my MT4G because I couldn't stand the washed out colors on the screen. The G2's SLCD was fantastic, but the SAMOLED on this absolutely blow it out of the water.

That's one of the coolest features, in my opinion. I didn't think I'd like the black notification bar after using CyanogenMod for so long, but it just looks like part of the phone!

IT'S TOOOO DAMN BRIGHT!
Screen is great, but it's too bright! Was at TRON Legacy midnight showing last night, after the movie, the lights were still down, I turn on my phone and blinded myself! Even manually set to 0% it's way too bright. Makes it hard to use the phone at night when you're laying in bed reading the news.
Heh, you should rip an Avatar DVD and watch it on the SAMOLED. T-Mobile knew what it was doing when it packaged the movie with the Vibrant, because it's an absolutely jaw-dropping combo. My iPhone 4-owning friends are just blown away when I show them movies on my Vibrant.
I lick my super amoled when I am in the bathroom and no one can see me.
Coming from MT4G ( and the inferior screen too ) It's really a big difference.

Try an app called Screen Filter! Put it at halfway, solved my TOO BRIGHT issues in darkness.
i heard that if you go outside in the sun every once in a while it fixes the "OMG it hurts my eyes issues"

I just manually add anything I find annoying. I thought the only sig limits were with regards to vertical height.

The red underneath the battery cover. If it was any other color it would have been a deal breaker for me.
