Hey I am trying to get android on a friends HD2. I have already run HSPL3, installed the custom ROM recommended by the developer and downloaded the the file HD2Froyo_V2.1.7z
I am running windows xp and i dont have any programs that recognize the file. any suggestions on what I can use to extract the file on to the SD car of the device?
Thanks
go to http://www.7zip.org, download, install.
Thank you my friend!

Every time I get a new NAND build and try to unzipping it, it says that its an "Unknown compression method" I need some help! Thank you!
Use 7zip. Keep in mind you don't have to extract roms meant for cwm!
Ok the NAND I'm trying to unzip is MDJ's CyanogenMod 2.6 A2SD+ and it wont work. But when I use the 2.5 version the unzip works fine.
Again: use 7zip. If that still doesn't work, download the rom again because it's probably corrupt.
I downloaded it 5 times already and still nothing!
Then you probably still aren't using 7zip?
As StephanV said - USE 7zip!!!
There was recently a change to the compression algorithm they use, so all of a sudden you can't open zip files made with 7zip unless you use the most up-to-date version.
so download newest version of 7zip is all i need to do? trying to unzip eclipse....
Redownloaded 7zip.... No luck with eclipse.... Wth am I doing wrong here?

You will need a zip file. I believe you can only flash a zip file.
Run the exe file you have it might produce an zip, amongst other files.
BTW, where did you get the stock rom from?
Thanks,
i googled - RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.32.405.6_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_155891_signed.exe
and managed to download from 4shared.com i think or another similar file download site.
do you know where i can get a zip version of the original stock rom that i can use from within the phone?
cheers
You run the exe from your PC with the phone hooked up via USB. There should be a guide on installing RUUs (stock ROMS) on this forum. Check it out.
Ive download a few different files for android, i set my screen setting and everytimei run clrcad then haret it rolls me through a black screen then says i have to unzip a rootfs file.
the root file is there but everytime i go through winzip to extract it it tells me theres an error, its been like this for all root zipped files..... what am i doing wrong?
Are you using builds for SD?
ummm what i did was youtubed it then went to the links they had and started downloading from there, i downloaded the lastest froyo
There are millions of youtube videos...
Ok lets start from scratch here.
Did you install HSPL 2.08 to your device?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
Then did you update your radio?
Found in that same link.
How are you installing Android? Did you install MAGLDR to install and boot from NAND? Or are you saving Android to your SD and booting into windows then into Android?
We need to know what steps you did and how you are trying to boot Android to help you out. At least post a link to the video plz.
well 1. did you check if those zip files were rar? most files are for root. and makesure that you have granted superuser permissions. If you followed a youtube video start over nd just flash what ever you originally had and then try again. And remember to backup your files!
Ok this pertains to the ROM builds for MAGLDRv1.13 with CMW. When i downloaded this rom >this ROM it came in as a .JAR file. Now where do I go from there? I have tried putting it inside the SD card through USB MassStg but nothing And I do apologize if this has been asked but I've been trying to fix this for the past 4 hours.

Hi,
not sure why it downloads as a .jar file, but try:
Rename the .jar file to have a .zip extension (if your download program does not recognize .jar files)
If its a MAGLDR install then extract file to folder on PC. Connect phone using USB and select USB flasher in MAGLDR options. Then for that particular rom then run the file called DAF.exe.
if you have a jar file, you must have clicked the wrong link. it will be (and ive just checked) a zip file.
i suspect you want this link
NDT MIUI GINGER V9.1_Multilang_MAGLDR-CWM
I found this SMSBackup app in the forum but don't how this can be deploy to my Samsung Focus 1.3 as the files extracted are not .xap. Please help, thanks
What's ROM you used on your phone? Make sure your phone was unlocked!
If you used DFT or Mi7 ROM, you can install direct this app by IE (send app over email or upload it to dropbox etc...)
I'm using Interop unlocked Samsung Focus v1.3 currently updated to 7740. I have WP7 Root Tools installed as well. When I unzipped the smsbackup files in my pc, there are folders and files, but I didn't how should I put them onto my phone. thanks
SMSBackup will be installed as the same as WP&RootTools which you had installed. Make sure that you have had the SMSBackup.Xap file and don't unzip this file!
In oder to install .xap file, you can use:
- Tom XAP Installer (see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=860964)
- Application Deployment (must install window phone sdk)
Thanks for your advice. But when I save the file from the link below, the file is with a zip extension. Shall I change the extension to xap and then deploy? thanks again

I have seen this link is SMSBackup V0.6-en.xap file. Please download this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=906966&d=1329531637
Thanks so much. I finally changed the extension of the downloaded file from zip to xap and it works, though don't know why the extension is zip in the first place. Thanks again.
same problem
Ya, im having the exam same problem. Everytime i download the .xap files from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1448197 they are recognized as .zip. Then my deployer obviously wont work. Could you please repost the patch you had up. Its a deadlink now thanks
