I still dont get the froyo update is it because im with vodafone ?

It didn't show for me either just use the registry hack guys. It's a nice rainy day to do some flashing

Try update your Kies first then try to update the firmware.
I have another question tho, will the update lose all of my data like apps, sms, whatsapp messages, savegames, etc?

I did this and still doenst show but its good i used the reg hack its updating to froyo right now

I did not lose any data or settings as far as i can tell. But i came from jpk which is a froyo rom.

aint working here, and i'm on jpk =/
And seems i have to manually update VIES, since he's not showing possible updates, man what a crappy software..

I've manage to upgrade it but unable to root it. I got a red line saying E:signature verivation failed when applying update.zip. I'm using 1-click root by TGA_Gunnman btw

use CF-Root (JM-version!) first to get Root-acces,
afterwards run OCLF V2.1+
works great!

quick workaround to fix your problem
de-install your current Kies
download the latest Kies from Samsung
install it
while keeping Kies open, do the registry hack
check for updates again in Kies.. HAI LOL FROYO
install Froyo
be happy, like me working like a charm atm
oh btw for other readers who asked. u wont lose anything , i came from original eclair and all my contacts , programs, txt msgs etc are still installed and available
yay finally froyo happy panda

and for the people who dont know how to do the registry hack, read the following.
im sorry that its in dutch, but since this is a dutch related froyo topic anyway i hope people forgive me
Woei! Het is me gelukt! Heb Froyo er op staan via Kies!
Eerst melding dat er geen nieuwere update was dan JM2.
Daarna KIES open laten staan en de volgende registerwaarden op de PC veranderd via regedit:
IN HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Samsung/Kies/DeviceDB/

LOL
Sounds logical... if it was an oficial upgrade why the need of a registry hack...
JPH, JPK, JPM ... is there a difference ????

Could somebody post current SoftwareRevision/ ProductCode/ HIDSWVER for Netherlands?
I just updated using registry hack and now Swype does not work. I'd like to roll back and wait for official Netherlands update.

All above is true and i also updated with the registery method told in this thread.
I only walked into one problem:
If i try to root Froyo with "Galaxy S I9000 One-Click Root" tool i got this message all the time:
E:Signature Verification Failed
Installation aborted
I know this is maybe not the right section, but please be nice to me i'm new here.
Thanks.

can u explain the differences then between a scandinavian official froyo and a dutch official froyo..
( and dont talk about language differences )
when i applied the registry hack and flashed eclair to froyo it was all perfect in dutch and settings were all correct so i cant think of a vital difference between a scandinavian or dutch froyo

How to enter system recovery - Updating to official 2.1 through recovery/update.zip

Hello guys, I'm having a couple of issues with my GSM Hero...and i have several doubts...if you can help me i will be most thankful.
#1 - how to enter recovery mode on my GSM Hero ? i press home+power and the triangle comes up, after that...nothing... shouldn't there be some options ?
#2 - can i load the official 2.1 European update without being by FOTA (don't forget i don't have root please!)
#3 - is there any RUU .exe with the official 2.1 European update?
#4 - I've flashed my European GSM Hero from 2.73.405.5 to the Taiwanese Chunghwa 3.31.751.1 to get 2.1 and it worked. Now I wish to go to WWE versions and it gives me error 141 incorrect id or something like that, how can i revert back to WWE?
I'm sorry for so many questions, but I don't know what else to do, the phone is unrooted and working perfectly with the 2.1 chungwa version, but since 2.1 has came out in Europe,I wan't to install the European version of it ans replace the Asian.
I've google it in every forum i could found so far on android devices, I've done several attempts, I've red like hell but no results so far. Any help is highly appreciated.
Sorry for my English, I'm from Portugal.
Bom dia casca, penso que o caminho a seguir é fazer downgrade para a versão RUU HTC Generic 2.73.405.5 e a partir dai deixar actualizar por FOTA ou por rom 2.1 com root...
Mais ajuda ? vai ao site androidpt
Wasup! i've been already on androidpt also and haven't seen anything about this.
the problem is I'm not able to load 2.73.405.5 again due to an error 140/141 that says something like bootloader error or id error, something like that...
you've got PM
i don't understand how it works for all of your Gsm Hero users, but...
Solution to question 1
for me to enter the recovery on the Hero I had to press vol.down+power, choose recovery, and when in "triangle mode" (lol) vol.up + power. that way I can use the android system recovery and apply an update.zip from the sdcard.
Solution to question 2
I think so. Will certainly report back to avoid that others have to suffer like I did to find the answer (you have no idea of the time I've spent on the last days reading forums for a simple thing like question 1...no one even cared to reply or say "hey, try this") I know a lot of people done the same thing I did with the hurry of seeing 2.1 on their Hero's.
Solution to question 3
Not yet, and probably won't be.
Solution to question 4
I will let you know. I will use the official update.zip that can be found here on XDA, with the android system recovery and give it a go.
Regards to you all.
You will have to downgrade first, possible chance you need to use the goldcard method. Once you have downgraded you can eitha get the update via OTA or apply one of the WWE update.zip ROMS via recovery.
I had to use the goldcard method to go from WWE 2.73.405.5 RUU to Chunghwa 3.31.(something)(their 2.1 official)
but to downgrade back to 2.73.405.5 even with the goldcard, it doesn't work for me.
It always gave incorrect bootloader or something like that even with the goldcard.
Thanks for your reply!

yes I can, no problem with that since I now figured it out what is the correct key combinations...so simple and yet so hard to find...
Did you try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=559613
I am not sure, but I think it can help you downgrade and then you can install the new update (or better yet just use it to flash a rooted ROM based on the official version...).
Tks,tried it already but flashrec doesn't work with that rom
Sorry, you flashed the Chungwa 2.1 so now cannot install this one. You were warned...
You cannot downgrade as the RUU updates misc with your main version, OTA doesn't.
Just wait patiently for an RUU of the WWE 2.1

that's what i thought...have to wait for the RUU...my question is...will it ever exist? usually HTC has them at the same time they annouce a new rom...this time it was separated in 2 updates...

It will come out eventually.
The first update was only to get your recovery ready for the update.
I confirm, even through recovery it didn't work. When doing the apply sd card update.zip through recovery, it gives installation aborted after a while....Do you think i should make a Goldcard and try again with the same method?
another question...where should i be looking for the RUU file for the WWE 2.1?

Quickly upgrade through KIES

As you may know, KIES will let you download official updates only if the "SoftwareRevision" and "ProductCode" match
I've made some registry files which will let you upgrade without manually editing the registry.
it's pretty simple:
1.connect your device to the computer
2.open KIES
3.load the desired reg file
4.try to update (some versions need "Test Mode" to be turned on)
if it doesn't work:close KIES, delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung and then try again (KIES will rebuild the values, this time your device will be in number 1)
currently there are reg files for the following firmwares:
JM1 (product code XEU)
JM2 (product code XEE)
JG8 (product code XSG)
please add more combinations
Where i can get the product code for Bulgaria ? my phone was with JF5 stock but i flashed JM1
EDIT: Deleted XXX trick, needs more research !
love this! kies upgrades are much easier. Now i dont have to reinstall all apps and settings.
upgraded to JM1
when i used the XXX trick, only JFA was offered

can you explain with a little more detail the point of this ? surely you dont want to be downloading foreign firmwares or am i missing the point

I'm from Israel, there are no local firmwares so I must use foreign firmwares
The "point" is to make a database with combinations of product codes and firmwares
some people are more comfortable with KIES (although I prefer odin) and this just can make their life a little easier when upgrading.
one more advantage when upgrading through KIES: your data isn't lost (but only some times which I haven't figured out yet)
I too vote for stickying this thread, knowing working combinations for firmware files would be of great help for my upcoming Kies upgrade helper tool

change HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\FUS
FUS_TEST from 00000000 to 00000001
Cool, this upgrade-"hack" works, I run the XEEJM2-file, and Kies enables me to actually upgrade to JM2.
It downloads the update, the phone restarts to Download-mode, but then I get an error-message on the PC, regarding Binaryloadermgr.exe failing. First it was because of a rapi.dll-file, then when I found the rapi.dll file and put it in the right directory, it gave me another error-message..
But all this might be because of Win7 x64...
Should try on a XP machine too
thanks.
I succesfully upgraded from jf3 to jm1.
can anyone tell me if this trick will work for froyo update as well?
So let's say if samsung releases froyo at the end of September and I follow exact steps as shown above, will I get upgrade to froyo instead of JM1?
Also what does JF3 and JM1 all mean?
I know that they are different firmware versions available but how do you know which one is the latest?
I think J means 2010 and M means perhaps August?
Cheers
Are you saying that using this method I can upgrade to JM1 without going through this flashing stuff? At the moment I have JG5 with Kies telling me "Your device cannot be updated"

Get 2.2 GPO on Branded Phones using Kies 1.5.3.10093.82

For Branded network phones, if you still have the previous version of Kies, you can change the LocalVer of Kies in the registry to make it think it's the latest version. Then change the product code etc to make it think you have a unbranded phone and the update will appear
I have done this on UK O2 branded SGS and has now been updated to JPO 2.2

Have you tried this yourself or are you merely reposting the hack?
I've tried it on an Orange product code handset with the old version of Kies and it didn't work. Presumably, you need the new version of Kies in order to upgrade to Froyo: i heard somewhere that newer versions of Kies cannot be hacked.
I can confirm that if you allow Kies to auto update the official Froyo release is not available to you if you have upgraded to the Nortic JP6 via the registry hack.
H!pefully someone will find a way around this soon.

You can't use the reg hack with the latest KIES. You need the previous one, and then, changing the local ver in the registry to the latest version
Once done that, you can upgrade/downgrade to any firmware version inputing the right values on the registry's "software revision", etc...
I tried it myself, and it works.

Mine was XEC (Movistar Spain) But I already flashed to the leaked JPP/JPO
1st when connected to KIES 10093.82 I got the message: "your device can't be upgraded"
Then, changing the "Local Ver" on the registry, I got the message: "You already have the latest firmware"
So now, if I change "Software revision" in the registry to JF3, I get the option to flash this firmware.
However I didn't flash since I already have the leaked JPO/JPP and I don't know wether this oficial upgrade introduces any changes.
But well, doing this, I get the option to flash the upgrade.
Why did Samsung have to screw us over yet again, what was the big problem with the reg hack being used by people to get around their bloody crap software?????????????????????????????????????????????????
Just tried this reg change after downgrading from the new kies to this version and as soon as I use the phone reg changes I get an error no connection to server message from the updater software, if I leave the phone reg alone (with the JPM one) then it says no upgrade is available.

Samsung Galaxy S i9000 Froyo 2.2.1 bad update

Hello,
i have a SGS i9000 and a few weeks ago i went to the service for a software repair and since then my phone has:
PDA: I9000XFJS4
PHONE:I9000XXJPY
CSC I9000XFJS8
Build info: 2011.02
I repeat this is the Froyo installed by the guys at the service
And today i head that 2 days ago there was released Ginderbread Stock 2.3.3 for it BUT: when entering Kies and after updating it with the latest version: 2.0.2.11071_128 it STILL says that:
Your phone cannot be updated
I saw that there was KOR selected so i selected CNX, ORO and tried to install the Cosmote csc but didn't found it...
As i understood... this is a weird froyo version... JS4/JPY/JS8
Do you believe it will be available a gingerbread STOCK version for my version and if not... what can i do to install a usable froyo version so i can update via kies the STOCK gingerbread 2.3.3 / 2.3.4 for CNX/ORO Romania version
In this moment i have it rooted but can be unrooted anytime and it is NOT lagfixed
Regards
Ionut
dude.
you need to reflash official froyo.
you can find it here:http://www.mediafire.com/?xxjnl7bxi15xj8v (this one is for ORO/CNX/Cosmote). using ODIN.
after that you can use kies to update without a problem.
thx
i'll do it right now.. but.. WTF.. this is the version that those morons from HAT Romania installed it, and seems like it's all messed up... damn it
Thanks, i installed it with odin 1.7 and pit s1_odin_20100512.pit
i'll install 2.3.3 / 2.3.4 via kies
Thanks a lot
PS: first there was a failure but tried it again and was ok. Thx again You're a savior

agreed .. i keep noticing the romanian flag and wonder if this is just another trolling .... People regardless of any country, please read the forum rules .... this is a DEVELOPMENT section, not a section asking for SIMPLE HELP ....
what can i say...50% of Romania`s population is retarded
P.S: I can say this because i live here ... you can`t
Sorry for posting in the wrong section... no need for trivialities
Thread can be closed as it is solved and afterwards can be moved to the right section
