No, It's not possible.

What is the most simplest way to root? Is it the unrevoked method?

Basically when i plug the fone in, unrevoked detects thr phone and then it reboots the phone giving my the options:
Fastboot
Recovery
And cant remember the other two options off the top of my head. I dont know what to do from there

In the answer to the original question. Yes it works, but soft root only. You need v1.6.2 minimum, older dont support soft root.

Worked great on.my phone, but if I flash to DK28 will it work?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
You have to install clockwork through the one click method. Also you must install samung drivers for your computer first. Then u may choose a rom 2.1 or 2.2 and flash through clockwork.

Go read the Sticky Wiki. There is a way to do it without a pc. But since you are lazy and obviously can't really do crap. Here is the link to what you need.

Not gonna happen right now. You'll just have to wait. The G2 isn't the easiest thing in the world to root in the first place, so its going to take a little time.
If you're ancy, just downgrade, and flash a pre-rooted stock OTA build.
Theres a way to root it already out for a while. Search cause that's what I used

I downloaded the rooted zip, did a backup, wiped and flashed. Couldn't have been easier.

I'm running 2.3.5 using cyanogen's nightly and xboarder56's converter.

i think when you tap it, there's an option to download/install and another option to just download. when that option comes up, press the back button. it worked on my mom's phone. completely stock. S-On, non rooted.
if i helped give thanks!
Are you running a custom rom?

i am, but my mom isn't.
Same here lol.. so will all phones receive the notification? And if so are there any dangers in accepting the update while on a custom rom?

phones that have the stock T-mobile (rooted or not) will receive this update. but if you have a custom rom, i.e a Sense 3.0, MIUI, or AOSP ROM, you shouldn't receive this notification.
yes there are. this update will REMOVE YOUR ROOT and you need to root again. so, i'd recommend just not update since Mysense is crap anyway, or, if you DO like it, use a rooted version instead.
Alright thanks!!

What method are you using to downgrade? [link to the thread]
What command are you entering when it gives you the error.

2.3.5? Which one?
ahhh i think he is using official 2.3 update so he should be gen3 and till have to tpt back to gen2 so hw will get 2.2 and then can root.
I see. Yes, he should revert back to GEN2 and try a ROM based on the 2.3.5 update (Swedish Snow for example).
let me clarify all of it.....i figured someone woulda had a way to root without using a pc....just a app like z4root or androot....but for gingerbread.
