[Q] Remove leading zero in 24h clock - Desire Themes and Apps

Hi
I'm using OpenDesire (latest stable) and there is something that's annoying me.
Don't know if this is ROM related or anything but...
I'm using the 24h clock and the leading zero is driving me nuts...
When it's 3AM it show 03:00... Is there anyway to make it display 3:00.
This is the standard android clock, the one in the taskbar and lockscreen.
Thanks!

Erm, its pretty much standard for 25h clocks to have the leading 0, otherwise its not technically 24h. I can understand how it could be annoying, but the tiny am/pm is much much worse
Sent from my HTC Desire

03:00 is 3am in 24H format. That's how the way it is.

Somebody please explain this to the Beatiful Widgets dev. It pisses me off to no end that he just lops off the leading 0's... not only is it wrong, it also looks horrible

eh? But thats what the 24hr clock does..... Set it to the 12 hour clock then it will say 3:00

I'm with you on this one... All the digital clock widgets show just one zero... that was the reason of my post. I just tought it would be possible to change this on Android (I swear my out of the box Desire had just one zero...).
Consistency should be in the mind of some developers...

[REQ] Manila - other effect

Just found this:
http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop/show/offer/htcdiamond?WT.ac=ACSPPMO_3R
In this flash animation changing the tabs in manila comes with an other effect.
Is it a new ROM?
(sorry if lame)
I think that is just an old version of manila being shown there, as far as I know the animation effects were reduced because of the high overheads and therefore to speed up the response of the Diamond.
yeah, its the old slow version...
i know someone who still has that on his phone
I see... thanks
I thought it was something new... never mind
wow, i forgot how cool that looks. i remember seeing that in April and i had to buy this phone... to bad that animation and the 00:00 and flip to current time at home screen is gone too.
will forever be missed
You can install this version if u want. And i cant say i lags so much. U can dload it here http://rapidshare.com/files/168002454/manila.cab.html

in old TF3D versions, every time you returned to home, initially the clock would display 00:00 and flip to the current time.

Is that cab for just the time appearing as 00:00 when returning to the Home screen?
Or is it the TF3D that the OP requested?
I only want the time to show 00:00 then flick to the current time.

but who wants to run an old version? not me. we are just discussing the fact that is has been discontinued. thats all
Well we dont want an older version but we want the feature of it. Im sure it can be incorporated now since the custom roms speed TF3D quite a bit it may not even be that laggy, or just have it as a setting in TF3D config for those that do want it.
How do we find out what files are needed to make this happen
I vote for this to
yea I to would love that feature actually have asked for herg to use it in his fuze flip clock cabs but he said he didnt know how to...but yea to get that feature back would be kick ass!! I actually have a file that if used with Manila customizer gives you that effect an even makes the tf more smoother like a glide effect not skip

Ok guys, hold on to your boxers 'cause Santa has just dropped in...
If you want:
1. Original Manila (full animation), download "tlr-manila.cab".
2. T-Mobile theme on original Manila: tlr-manila-tmobile.cab
3. Optimized+fade animation+slider effect: tlr-Manila-38.cab
Note: I have been using #3 for 4 months so far, and its VERY stable, light, and the animations are stylish enough.

I'm trying to install #3 but the progress bar moves extremely slowly and near the end, it fails saying that it doesn't have sufficient permissions
After that, my home screen is empty except for the tabs on the bottom

Colour Depth Difference with live / normal wallpapers

Hi Guys,
I've seen some discussion around the HD2's screen colour depth.
I've been doing some experimenting and have found that the colour depth is decreased when using a live wallpaper.
Im using the Darkstone's Froyo V1 Build with Cotulla's latest zImage. I havn't tested with the Sense build yet...
Give it a try :-
Set a Live Wallpaper
Now Add The Analogue clock widget, power control and Home Screen Tips widgets to a blank desktop.
Notice the Gradients of the widgets look blocky and appear low resolution.
Now apply a normal Image Wallpaper and you'll notice a real increase in quality of the gradients in those Widgets
I've taken screenshots to show you but when the screenshot of the Live wallpaper is looked at on the computer it looks perfect so must be an issue with the Way the HD2 is displaying it..
Here's the 2 screenshots :-
goodness me, does every little detail require a new thread?

This is something that no-one has noticed so far and actually could be quite important - now why dont you go back to your 9million page thread and continue pointing people to post#4 like the real helpful fella you are eh....ffs
Yes, it's especially noticeable on the anologue clock but not on the pics you posted up. Didnt notice it at first. Sharp eyes you've got there. Lol

HD2 has poor colour quality from the get go, running multiple applications let alone an OS that is overlapping another OS on top of of multiple applications running in the background is bound to have more than some effects, least of all important right now being the colour. I have no idea what you're talking about, but perhaps a quick browse over the forum rules would be a good start, it isnt 9 million pages long so you shouldnt have too much trouble. The least you could do is post in a thread of whoever ROM/Android release you are using.

Yeah unfortunately they look normal on the screenshots i took for some reason which leads me to believe there's an issue with the way it's been displayed on the HD2.

First of all - the point of my post was to 'Prove' that the HD2 can display more then 65K colours as was first thought, if you'd read my post at all - what you've posted above is a complete nonsensical response.
This IS important as people 'like you' seem to think the HD2's screen is of low quality when in fact it isn't.
Maybe you'd have an idea of what im talking about if you took the time to read my post instead of 'trying' to be a Mod?
Maybe you should peruse the Forum rules and then you may in fact realise that i havn't broken any of them?
I wasn't moaning about it not booting, GSOD, SOD, No Sound etc i posted a unique 'observation' that may help in the further development of 'proper' graphics drivers for our port.
I also wasn't moaning about a bug of this particular build - so why should it be posted in the Thread for that build?
I just think some people around here have a chip on their shoulder and are trying to be something they are not - & you dear sir are not an XDA mod.
...whoa...nice...calm down guys...calm down...
Yep, no reason to get upset. I think that's a pretty interesting point you found there. Do you have any opportunity to store the screenshots into a lossless format? I really can't tell any significant difference from the two jpg´s you've posted there - been watching the two for about a minute and i can tell you that my eyes are known to color difference detection
i think it's better a thread like this than the 2348740860th always about "no booting, no sound, no radio, no android, no intelligence", all completely useless if the author read the forum form 5 minutes before posting, this thread is about a new "problem / symptom" and it's not useless... maybe it's not importante now to obtain 16m colors, but it's always something that can be fixed
on topic guys Dev forum not flaming
Keep it peaceful
Josh
i haven't really used an actual android phone (day to day) but im sure Google put that in there, because of Live wallpaper taking up CPU power thus lowering the quality of widgets.
EDIT: and the pics look EXACTLY the same (except for the wallpaper and time of coarse.)
but, on the device itself it is less quality, ive seen it before and thats why i use a static wallpaper.
Hi guys, yeah as i said in the post for some reason the screenshots taken directly didnt really show the difference for some reason.
I've taken some pictures using a camera and the difference is clearly highlighted here.
Cheers
Paul
I installed a live wallpaper on my Desire V5 build and noticed that the moon on the weather portion of the Sense clock (it was a clear night last night) changed color and looked a little more green than gray with the live wallpaper running. Don't know if its a bug or not, but it's just my observation.
Sorry to resurrect this ageing thread but it at least shows I bothered to search for it.
I seem to get this effect on some ROMS more than others, I also get it on the wallpaper itself but only for some.
I am thinking that it must be the wallpaper itself for me, it must be in a colour depth beyond the capabilities of the phone. For instance if I install the honeycomb ADW theme with the wallpaper enclosed I get this effect on the wallpaper.
Couldn't see any other threads about this, any ideas anyone?

Power Consumption vs. Screen Density

I'm in the middle of doing a major 'power overhaul' and was wondering if scaling the screen density from 240 to 160 would hurt/help my quest.
Attached is the basic density, and of course i try to keep dark colors or white on black themes. Obviously not done yet.
I will say this... In my experience, on my own phones and others (many others at work I have rooted), that task killer will drain you worse than anything.

No problem, mine is a noob-tweaked version of this:
[ROM]Evo(Shift)Nonsense(2/9)
Its in the EVO Shift 4G Android Development thread.
EDIT:
Noob-tweaked means it came with a LOT of stuff on it. I deleted/added some. Wrapped it up and call it mine.
I dont even have enough posts to thank the dev in his own thread.

I tweaked my build.prop file to reflect 160 density, and haven't noticed any significant battery save.
However (as noted in a previous post), changing the density in our build.prop files as of now seems to cause all sorts of clusterf*** with many HTC apps (people, calculator, mail, footprints, peep). I haven't figured out why that is, and for now I've just replaced them w/ 3rd party apps because I can do without them for the sake of having the LCD density I want lol.
Hopefully one of us lands on the answer of how to mod the build.prop w/o causing numerous HTC FC's in the process.
Agreed with the HTC apps, I went 3rd party too. Most have similar (if not better) functionality. Thanks for actually getting back about my op.

Np.
BTW, I tested out 140-180 densities, and 170 seems to perform the best on our phones in terms of widget responsiveness, while maintaining a clean pixelation. I also keep the brightness @ a cool 20% (unless i'm in bright sunlight). No complaints so far.
Oh, and "contapps" from the Market = what the HTC "People" app should be. Check it out.

Always on display

I know when the always on lock screen display is on the, image moves around to prevent "burn in" Why does the night clock on the edge not move around as well? Won't that cause some "burn in"?

Yes, that would be nice . Also, if it was possible to regulate the always-on brightness (currently it is automatic) it would be great for the battery consumption as well.
I was going to post this too. Wanted to use the feature but once I saw it didn't shift around I disabled it.

I have a feeling the night clock is fine even at all day use.... However the Always on main display auto adjusts as someone stated earlier during the day which makes sense as its much brighter out... That being said, the autobrightness on the main AOD could cause burn in as it gets much much brighter.. Just my 2 cents...
Thoughts??
I wonder what the amount of time required is for burn in to happen? I was thinking of the edge panel indicator. It never moves and is always there. Not sure why it needs to be. It's my phone I know where I've set it and to turn the bar off would be great.

Oh thanks. I've changed it now
OP, do you still need night clock after having AOD capability? I think AOD is fine for checking the time.
But anyways, since you prefer night clock, it would be better if it is auto-scrollable unlike the edge news feed. It might prevent any potential burn-in possibility. Maybe Sammy needs to update that.
