I live in France and have successfully loaded one of the Meejay-froyo sense build on my phone. I can boot Android Ok, but nothing seems to have changed. My home screen and my start menu look the same as on winMo.
1) I cannot installed any applications, I don't have Android Market, when I open the Android Market from any of the 6 browsers I had under winMo (and which are working even with Android), I DO NOT GET THE "SEARCH" option.
2) When I download any non Market application to my sD card, I cannot install it.
One will say that I need the App installer and so on, but this is also in an *.apk format and I could not go further.
So PLEASE, ANY HELP WILL BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED.
If your home screen and start menu look the same as in windows mobile then you're not running Android. Fair enough, it's a Sense build, so there's not a massive difference between Sense on winmo and Android, but the start menu is totally different.
Are you running clrad.exe & haret.exe to boot Android?
Is this your first time trying to use Android, or have you had any other builds running for you?
Thank you John for your reply. That was the first build I've put on the phone. I'm using a Android Loader application to boot Android.

If you're sure it's booting okay then it sounds like the copy of Android you're using is somehow corrupted. I'd recommend downloading a different one and trying that instead.
I can vouch for the stabililty of this one, as it's what I use...

It's at least worth trying so that you can rule it out, if nothing else.
Okay,
I'll uninstall the previous one and try the one you mentionned. Then I will see. Thanks a lot.

Ok i rooted a bunch of android phones but this is my first winmo phone. so i am a noob to this. I just need some clarification on porting android to the hd2. In order to port android i must flash a custom winmo rom and load android as kind of like a "secondary" OS right?
So everytime I reboot my phone I must reboot it into winmo and then load android? And is there currently or is anyone working on a way to boot straight into android?
Sorry for asking so many questions and sounding like a noob but I just want to be 110% clear before I try anything.
I believe there are android roms that boot right into android.
In order to run Android:
1. you need to go through the [BUILD]s in the Android Development section... located in the other HD2 area.
2. Unless otherwise instructed by the build creater, you need to make an Android folder on your SD card, and copy the contents of the build into that folder.
3. If you have an "Android Friendly" ROM, there will be an icon already to start Android, which will auto-run the CLRCAD.exe (for sound to work) & HaRet.exe (which loads Android) If you are on a Stock ROM, or one that does not have the Android loader, then you will either need to run those in order manually (CLRCAD then HaRet) or download the Android loader applet (in the Android Development section)
4. If you want Android to load automatically, there are custom ROMs found in the Android Development section that are setup for this purpose, HOWEVER, you will need to make sure that it's TMOUS HD2 compatible
5. if you experience "issue xyz" be sure to check the Android Development section, as they have probably already addressed it
ok thanks so much im gonna be porting android over as soon as i get home from work today hopefully i do it without screwing anything up lol
Will Android work w/Outlook sync? Also, are you still able to tether with Android? I've searched around but haven't found the answer. If no for either then that will be the deal breaker for me. Thanks in advance

it does work with ActiveSync, it that's what you're asking?
as for the tethering, look in the build notes.... they give a list of options that do & don't work.

nice thing is, if something does get messed up, reboot format the sd, put the build on and try again ;-p since it runs off of the sd and not ROM, there's little chance of doing something a reset can't fix

Hey, thanks for the info. I appreciate it!
I am very interested in the Android development for HTC HD2 and I would very much like to try one of these builds. However, I'm totally confused as to what to do, how to install, what to install, which version to choose, etc. In other words.... I'm not a developer!
I would therefore suggest an "Available Android Release Thread" here on the forum, where each developer who is working on this can have a post that they can update when they update their release, and where they could list the installation steps and the prerequisites for going through with it.
If this already exists, please excuse me, I just didn't find it.
If it doesn't, I would appreciate it greatly if you could take the time to create it.
Thanks, and let me add that I and probably the entire HD2 user community, greatly appreciate and value the effort you guys are putting into this!
1)Install HSPL on your win mo.
2)Load Radio 2.12.50 (must end with 50) via bootloader.
3)Download hyperdroid v 1.5
4)In your root of your sdcard, create a folder "HyperDroidV1.5"
5)Copy the files you have downloaded to the folder you just created.
6)Open up the folder, tap on CLRCAD to enable sound.
7)Tap up on Haret.exe to boot linux.
8)Wait for about 5 mins for initial.
9)Viola, you got android on your phone.
P/S : If you dont know the terms yet, do some homework by googling it. It is readily available in the net.
there are stickies on how to install, what version is personal prference
and the majority of devs who release their builds do say in inthe first thread of what to do to get it running

Your phone turns into a motorola droid or droid 2?
Just an FYI...
My wife has the same phone and she hates it, for obvious reasons. I will soon be using her phone to create an instructional video that will take you through the whole processes.
I will be including installing HSPL, Radio, Winmo ROM,and finally Android.
So, when time permitting and I can swipe her phone for long enough...
I've done several searches and run many different versions, but I'm still getting sleep death issues. Quick question and answers, has this issue been resolved for sure and where can I find the link to solve it?

Thanks, but I flashed my winmo ROM and updated the radio, now I'm using sergio's desire build perfectly
One thing that should be noted, my feeling is that WM stock ROM messes with android and causes a whole mess of problems, so you should flash an approved ROM before booting your android. This is JUST IN MY EXPERIENCE.
Had SOD with every build before, now I'm nearing the end of my second day with no SOD issues at all.

Hi, i have some questions for you guys
1: Are there something out there which makes me able to choose winmo or android when i boot up my phone?
2: If that exists, where is the newest version of android?? what should i install... i really wanna keep winmo on my phone cause i think it looks nice, its just a little buggy.. thats why i wanna try out android...
I have seen these "harret" android versions which you can boot on top of windows, but doesnt that just slow down the phone.. to having two OS's running???

It's the only way (for now) to boot your android, so yeah, there are several programs that allow you to choose between Winmo or Android at startup.
Newest version of android...well depends on what build you use. I suggest reading some more information on these boards to see what suits you best.
Haret doesn't run Android alongside Windows, it kicks Windows out of the phone's memory, and boots Android from the SD card. Android will run nice and fast.
As far as an app to choose which operating system you want to use upon booting up your device, Exceller bootlauncher is the way to go.
Just look in HD2 Android Developement forum, or do a search using the site's search function and keyword exceller, you're sure to find it.
Try a few different Android builds, they're all great, and Exceller will allow you to choose between different builds.
You just cant have them in folders named the same thing, so you may have to edit the startup.txt in your Android folders so that your rel_path corresponds with what you name your folder to.
Might sound confusing now, but once you get down to it, it'll seem simple
you write that it "kicks windows out"... just to be sure, windows will still be there right??

yeah, windows will still be there... it never leaves you
what huggs mean is, that windows will not be running in the background. I will be "kicked out" of the memory.
When you reboot your Leo fom android - guess what - windows will load first again...
You'll see, it never leaves you
ok super nice!!
one last question: i have downloaded a version of android, but the file contains three folders: android, data_512, data_1024... is it nessesary to copy all three folder over??

No you don't have to, just copy the "Android" folder to sd card then choose either th data.img in one of the two folders ( copy the 1024's Data if you want 1GB of storage and copy the 512's data if you want 512 MB of storage) Have fun !
Edit ::
Copy the data.img into the Android folder
hey again... just found some new questions:

q1: will flashing rom (and radio) delete the os?
q2: can i always go back to my old rom/radio??

np, I mean when you're booting your phone you can see some numbers on the bottom left, just write these numbers down, when you want to return to your original Radio/Rom just download the corresponding numbers from the Radio/ROM thread you can find at the ROM development section (But trust me, you would never want to return to your originals. as soon as you flash your new ones you'll find out that your previous were useless )
ok, i think i have one last question..
Will installing another rom/radio/android remove my warranty???

Since you'll be needing HSPL for radio/rom flashing then yes. I'm not sure wether there is a way around it, but you may give SSPL a look, it doesn't void your warranty .
oh well.. it says i can just install the stock spl and it should be fine...
Hi,
I seem to be having bad luck with my android installs.
I have an HD2 running the excellent Duttys ML v6 WWE rom with 2.15.50.14 radio.
I've added a variety of Android ROMS from Mdeejay and MDJ. They all work flawlessly for a few days. The only apps I added were Yahoo, quick settings and (for my sins) AngryBirds. Again, they all work OK.
Then after a few days, an update message might appear top left. If I install it, all is well until I reset the phone. Boots to windows, but when I tap Haret, it starts to load, then resets and loads windows again. Android is now dead and will not boot.
So now, I thought, ignore the updates. All good for a few days, until the battery went flat (as it does!). After charging it back up, again, the same problem, Android is dead, and just restarts to windows on booting Android.
To get Android back on the phone, I have to format the SD card, then copy everything across again. I have now done this 4 times due to Android messing up.
Has anyone else seen had this problem? I have had a look through the forum and can't find anything else similar.
They have just given me an HTC Desire as a work phone which is excellent, but I would really like to get my HD2 running Android reliably!
Thanks for your time, Chris.
Format card with this
Then run Android as normal (reading any build instructions) then dont be a dumbass and install official updates to a non-official build of android.

I appreciate your help, but there is no need to be rude, we are not all HD2 gurus!
The only updates that have appeared are for apps that I have installed - angry birds for example. Not sure how this could kill an OS, be it official or otherwise.
Thanks for the SD formatter though. I will give this a go this morning and see how it goes...
whoops double post. damn ff.

ahhh you are referring to "app" updates, you never said that in your OP, I assumed you was referring to OS updates of some kind.
Updating a app will not have broken your Android build, It was just a coincidence unless its a app that affects system files maybe.
Hey guys~
I just installed Android for the first time using this detailed guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881958
I was able to successfully boot Android and make calls, download apps, send messages, etc.
The problem I'm having is this:
When my phone turns off and I turn it back on, a window appears that asks me to choose if I want to run Android or WinMo. I choose Android and then hit OK. The phone then loads Winmo. Right now, the phone is set to start up WinMo automatically if I do not make a choice, but I have been trying this a bunch of times now and the same thing happens over and over again.
As the guide suggested, I installed Android Loader v6.0 Final for HD2. When I was installing the loader, it asked me if I wanted to make WinMo or Android my default OS and I picked WinMo just because I didn't know how I could go back to it if something happened (I am very new to this afterwall).
I read the all 14 pages of the guide to see if there were any similar problems and I searched the Q/A too but didn't. Hope someone can help me!
Thank you~
You will also be asked on installation to select the folder where your Android files are (no typing needed). This NEW feature means that when developers bring out Android Builds that arent in the standard 'Android' folder you can still auto load it without any problems. If you make no selection or cancel then the default location will be set (Storage Card\Android)

Did you select the proper location for the folder your Android build is in, the part I have in red? If yes then try uninstalling and reinstallind the launcher app again.

Thank you so much for your reply!
I had installed the Loader before I had installed the Android ROM because I was going in the order of the guide so I had probably messed that part up. I uninstalled the Loader and reinstalled it and this time saved it in the correct folder.
I never would have though of doing that if I hadn't read your reply~
Thank you~
