Hello,
I'm running R012 on my Aria & this one is just great.
I only facing one issue - my email connected to Exchange server & i cant search for contacts phone numbers etc. but only to get the email addresses.
Also, when forwarding message, the signaure doesnt exist - any idea how i can change it so when i forward emails the signature will be included?

I've been trying to get push email on my PDA. I was trying Exchange Server and AUTD. For those of you who don't know, the way this works is that when new email is received the server sends an SMS to your mobile which causes it to initiate a server activesync.
This is not an SMS which you see - it's a service SMS that the PDA acts upon.
The SMS that was being sent to my phone was:
//SCKL040A AwFqAAADxgADBQHDEMGPINNIoHX2gEOfBBnWxQEB
I wonder if there is a similar SMS content which would cause the phone to initiate a send/receive on on ordinary email account.
Does anybody know anything about how these SMS messages work?
Have u found anything, Baldboy? I got the same idea, and posted it to the number of forums, but no reply - apparently, nobody is interested, however it seems to be the cheapest and simplest way to organize blackberry-free pushmail without any modifications to the server...

Read MSDN. Everything is perfectly working.
Just enter email address of SMS<->email gateway for your phone when asked, setup ActiveSync to sync email with exchange server, and set device to sync "when items arrive".
Of cause this would work only with exchange server. I have exchange 2003 SP1 and WM5 device.
Hi Everybody,
I recently got TP2 rhodium. The 1st WM system for me.
I tried to use Outlook in a "natural" way but I found some simple things I can't do.
Explain.
I have 3 accounts in my phone:
- "Outlook", which is synced with my company PC via ActiveSync.
- A "work account", that I use to receive and send emails using my company ISP (i.e. [email protected]) when I am away.
- A "personal account", that I use to receive and send emails using my personal ISP (i.e. [email protected]) when I am away.
Everything works: Outlook sync, work send-receive emails, personal send-receive emails.
The most simple thing I expect I can do is:
1) I sync Outlook via Activesync. So I get an updated copy of my pc inbox/outbox in my TP2. Including emails I didn't read yet.
2) I go away, get in the inbox of my phone outlook account and read emails. There's one I need to reply immediately!
3) I reply to that email, but...
the reply goes into the outgoing box but it remains there. It will be sent the next time I'll sync, but it will be next week.
I didn't find a way to use one of the 2 other accounts to send that email from inside the "outlook account". It's a reply, so I have to write it inside that account.
The most natural thing would be:
- an option in the "from" field allowing me to use one of the two accounts
- send the email
- watch it going in the outbox of my "outlook account", so that it will be synced the next time.
in addition,
if I send an email from my "work account", it will go into its outbox, but I cannot move it to the "outlook account" outbox, so that it can't be synced when I connect to my pc!!
I suppose many people encountered the same problem.
I tried to search, but I couldn't find any.
Anyone can address me to a solution?
I thank you all in advance.
Hi..
Thats what i did in the past.. i sync emails so that i know which ones i need to reply... but found it a hassle at times...
why not try using pop3 directly? Jus save a copy of emails on server.... i pop as and when i need... but only my outlook in laptop downloads emails.. i find it better in sense i have contorl when i use outlook.. but thats jus me and my 2cents..
Hi chuachongchee,
I hope I'll find a straight way for you and for me to do what I mean.
I can't believe it is not possible to do such an elementary thing with an almost 600€ gear and a WM at its 6th release!!! And such a cool design !!
Do outlook mobile developers ever work away from their pc?
I am not good in WM software "handling", but a lot of people is, and I am sure someone has already solved this issue.
Just hope I'll find one...
hi asamax,
Just confirming that I have a similar problem that would be solved if I could change the "From" field in the outgoing message (as with your problem).
I also have done a lot of searching and found nothing yet.
I have found that its possible to write "plugin" apps for
tmail (aka Outlook mail for WM) but found none that allow the change of the "From" field - annoying!

Don't mind,
I am sure this will be solved.
Such simple change + Such evident miss.
Please skilled-xda-developers write an outlook hacked rev. allowing:
- choose the account in the email "from" field
- copy/move emails between different accounts folders
- some additional options for each accounts would be useful: default c/c and hidden c/c recipients.
the 3rd in the list allowed me to solve this issue in my old Nokia E70 (!!).
I just put a rule for incoming mail in my PC outlook: when I receive a mail in whic i am in hidden c/c AND in the from fields, move it in the sent items folder. But it was not a very clean way... I expect more from my brand new rhodium!!!
hi
I have google sync setup via ActiveSync exchange on me HD2 which works great.
only thing I can't get working is sending from another e-mail address that you can setup in your google account. outlook mobile doesn't let you change the from address but I have found it in the registry and changed it to my other e-mail address but when I send a mail it still shows as coming from googlemail address. Is this a exchange sever side setting or is there a way to get it to send from another email address. I would like this as it would save me adding all my accounts to Outlook mobile.
HD2 is so cool I have hardly used the laptop since getting it.
Thanks in advance if you can help.
Cheers
Dean
anybody any ideas on this one if not guess it's the long way round using other account to send smtp.
cheers

Overview: Known Limitations
Print
Google Sync for Windows Mobile is still in Beta. We're constantly working on improvements, but we've listed below some known limitations.
* Changing Order of Recurring Event May Remove From Device
If an instance of a recurring event is moved to the same day as the previous or the following instance of the same series, or if it is moved to occur before the previous or after the following instance of the series, the entire series will not be displayed on the device Calendar.
* Changes to Meeting Attendees on Device Aren't Synchronized to Server
If the list of invitees to a meeting is changed on the device, these changes will not be reflected on the server after synchronizing.
* Imported Recurring Events May Not Sync
If you've imported calendar entries from another calendar system into Google Calendar, you may find that only the first occurrence of the event is synchronized, or - in some cases - the event may not be synchronized at all. Recurring events created within Google Calendar will sync correctly.
*Calendar Invites via Gmail Forwarding or replying to Calendar invites in your Gmail inbox is not yet supported when using Google Sync for Mail.
* Apps Administrators: Learn how to enable Sync for your domain.
* Attachments Not Syncing: Google Sync is occasionally failing to properly process attachments. We are working on a fix that we hope to push soon.
* Custom From: Address: At this time Google Sync does not support custom "From:" addresses.

So no custom From: addresses...

Hi,
same problem, but how would you do that manipulating-senderfield-thing with the other smtp-server? modify the smtp-server to replace [email protected] with [email protected]??
I've manage to come to a satisfactory solution staying with gmail...
I have set my other email addresses to forward all mail to gmail, so that I receive them through push. When I answer, as mentioned the e-mail originates from the gmail address. It doesn't bother me so much so far, I've set the From name to My Name (mobile), so people know why it might show up differently.
The real problem was when they answer, obviously only gmail will receive the answer, while I'd like to have it in my normal inbox as well for archival. So I've set filters on gmail so that all mail sent to "my gmail address" and containing "my normal address" (should be the case as they initially wrote the mail to it, which shows up in the included original message when replying, except for those few senders who don't include original message in replies) gets forwarded to my normal address.
If you only have one "normal" address you could just do an unconditional forward, but I preferred having gmail sort my 3 addresses correctly.
Yes this theoretically leads to an infinite loop (when gmail forwards to my normal server, the latter will forward again to gmail as it does this with every message it receives, etc), but gmail servers are clever and ignore it.

Could you eleborate on how you set those filters, I was looking for the same solution.
See below. Sorry for French gmail, but you should be able to find your way
the .ch address is one of my normal addresses, the gmail one is... well, the gmail one. I have one such rule for each of my normal addresses.
Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is a Newb question.. but i'm kinda stumped.. it's funny cause i have everything else down to a reflex.. (registry hacks, flashing, etc) but this is posing to be a irritating problem for me...
My outlook mail account dows not retrieve mail until i sync with my laptop.. which kinda sucks IMO... but then i noticed the Microsoft Direct Push tab.. and it states that it would retrieve OUTLOOK mail as it arrives.. so i'm trying to set it up and I am currently stuck.. ANY HELP??
after i enter my outlook e-mail and password, it then asks me for a UserName.... The password box is already filled in... Then it asks me to fill in a Domain... and then a Server Address... so yea.. i don't know exactly what i'm supposed to put in here.. any help guys?
It's not quite as simple as it looks like it should be unfortunately.
For push email to work correctly, the phone must sync with a Microsoft Exchange server. It wont just sync with your POP3 based email via outlook in push mode.
You have a few options however...
1. Manually configure your phone to send/recieve via POP3/SMTP every 5 minutes.
2. Use Google Sync. Google sync is basically a fake exchange server which you can connect your phone to. You need to set up a gmail account, and then have all your regular email forwarded to it, then you can set up Push Email on your phone to sync with your gmail account in realtime. This is what I have done to get around the problem as I don't have my own exchange server.
Full instructions are on the Gmail site.
The only downside is that at present, any replies you send from your phone will show up in the recipients inbosx as coming from your gmail address, not your regular email address. This isn't a problem for me as I rarely reply from my phone.
Hope this helps!

wow.. that sucks lol
thanks though man.. appreciate the help
No problem. Unfortunately it's a limitation of the protocol, not the phone. Direct push can not work over POP3/SMTP, it needs an exchange server to actively "push" the emails to any device or inbox.
Hey guys,
My girlfriends father owns a Kindle Fire and asked me to help him with getting his email set up on the tablet. He uses a roadrunner email address, so I looked up to pop3 and smtp server addresses and set the email account in the stock email client.
After initially setting up the account, no email was being pulled to the tablet. I then checked his outlook settings, since he has the email account set up there, and all the server addresses and numbers match. Still no email. Since the set up should be relatively simple (I set these up all the time), I'm at a loss for what the issue is.
Has anyone else run into this? If so, what remedied the issue?
Thanks in advance!
Are you able to send email? What error message(s) do you receive? Every email provider will have different setting requirements. You may have to contact Roadrunner to verify incoming & outgoing port numbers, etc. Generally speaking, if you were able to add the account but it's just not sending and/or receiving, then there may be a problem with the settings and it should give you an error message of some kind when you try to sync or send/receive. Ensure you have the correct settings, email or username, password, incoming & outgoing server port numbers, etc. If you would be able to share some additional information about the issue, I will do my best to assist.

He's using POP3? POP3 clients generally will download the messages from the server and then delete them from the server. So if you tried to download e-mail on to the tablet, there isn't any new mail on the server, Outlook already grabbed it and removed it from the server.
Is Outlook setup to download, but leave a copy of the messages on the server? IMAP and MAPI default to this behavior, POP3 does not.
I'd try turning off his Outlook program, sending a test message to him from another account you own, and then seeing if the tablet picks up your test message when it checks the server.
