Froyo for i9000 in Germany possible now (16.10.10)?! it seems so

Hi Guys
I added "174.123.5.146 fus.samsungmobile.com" to the file "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts"
described in Post #63 of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=766589&page=7.
After I reconected my german unbranded SGS Kies told me i can update my phone!!
Now it downloads the firmware!

Well, with hacks it was possible before... What CSC does it say?

which version it is? what the popup says?

hmm it downloaded - but than it stucks in the download mode - does someone have a idea - maybe a reg-hack?

Yes, you are downloading it from asgards server
Remove the line from your hostfile, open up cmd and type "ipconfig /flushdns" in there. That could help you

I got it!
removed lagfix and root - and used the regkey from this nice forum http://www.android-hilfe.de/samsung-galaxy-s/49491-froyo-mit-kies-updaten-ab-2.html
I had to do a factory reset (vol up + menu + power) and now... it works!

Not really >< You've download froyo from a XDA member server named asgard
When you put:
ip adress
in hosts file everytime your computer will try to access this adress it will connect to specified IP

hmm ? keyboard is 113 mb ? 2nd package i mean update.zip its not deodexed and my rom is deodexed maybe i faced to this prob cuz of that ?

the 2nd is another rom for 2.2.1 from my cellular carrier.

better to tell it dont work , in my lang ( Farsi ) it shows reversed number ( RTL ) and there is no webcore ...

I flashed it over stock 2.3.4.
I had an other issue with phone app, i can't make calls (but i can receive calls)

If you find a GB keyboard for the SGS and install the apk it works (did for me).. Choose for the GB keyboard under settings with haptic feedback on and it works . (Extract it for e.g the one from older Darky's froyo Roms)

now the size of my personally patch is 60mg.
i put the keyboard(that u give/arabic-ginger)in the pack.
but after flashing the pack...when i wanna use the keyboard.it has f.c
i think the keyboard needs some lib or permision file.

[A]Greek in stockwells ideos x5 MIUI ROM

My greek friend i have a twick for you to have greek in your rom the idea came when i was rerading the full post of stockwell and understood the first line of his post "Based on the Desire-Z MIUI.us release available.So i understood that desire z miui rom are compatible with ours. i went to MIUI's official forum and downloaded the greek pack for desire z. I copied all files except build.prop to the same folders .and after i edited my old build.prop in line that says"ro.product.locale.language=en
ro.product.locale.region=US" into ro.product.locale.language=el
ro.product.locale.region=GR" after that i reboot into recovery and flashed my dalvick-cash and everythink was done greek exsept miui search bar
i hope i was understood and someone make this into upgradable zip
ps.1compass and fm radio apk's doesnt work so you dont have to copie them but you can give them a try if you are developers.

ps3 i cannot post the the links sorry but it is easy google search

extracted app and framework to system.. changed the devices build.prop to el and GR ...
wiped dalvick cache..
and nothing it does not seems to work for me :/
maybe you forgot to mention a step for us ?

does it have greek on setting/system/language?if not try to install morelocales2 from market but that was not needed to me
ps i copied with android commander on the fly not from recovery
ps2 i also wiped cache not factory but i thought it was erelevant

yes there is greek in language settings...and is checked but no greek language in any menus.. also i get weird Force close after these copies.. i dont know maybe someting was not copied correctly
i did the copy with Root explorer.. will try the app you suggested and report back

I would suggest copying the apps/framework from the Greek release into the original u8800 miui.us update.zip instead of trying to copy it on the fly as it causes issues (normally you'll lose your accounts and contacts).
You'll need to modify framework-res.apk for wifi and usb tethering to work though.

you do exactly the same steps i folowed for greek but in build.prop you change US to IT and en to it
all the steps made on the fly(this as stockwell metioned will erace your contacts,but i asume you you have them gmailed back up)
for the update language pack you have to follow stockwells way and change the same things in his rom. but i cannot give you now more info because it is my first device and i didnt give it a try yet after the new release maybe i try it.

but isn't possible to flash directly the language pack (the desire z one) and then change the language by menu?

i did manage to translate it, im gonna upload the full rom in the dev section!

i am happy that my idea inspired someone to do something better.I havent tested your way yet but have you managed to make miui bar english or greek?

there was once a multilanguage pack for ideos X5, but i think that it was discontinued...

dear jasonakos because i see you didn't upload yet the 1.11.4 and 1.11.11 is about to release i will give a hint.You can also use simples desire transalated app and framework-res its the same screan resolution and i will also like to see that it is my method

Today my phone showed an update of 72.29MB
After installation i observed the foll changes:
1. Hindi keyboard available
2. One hand operation mode available
3. 5 rows intead of 4 in keyboard. New symbols also added.
4. New unlock screen
5. Torch widget added with 3 different light modes
Pls share of you notice any more new changes.

6. The stock music player (finally) sorts according to the track number in albums view (abirsharda)
7. Even better battery life
8. LA5 now supports multitasking between stock camera app and stock music
player. Earlier on KL3, music used to stop if you turned on the camera while listening to music.
NEW UPDATE 8.27MB 3-march-2012
1. Browser is better and polished.
2. The Gallery loads faster and images view is faster.
3. Huge battery improvement.
4. Added Google messenger.
5. Added Google plus.
6. Lower right corner is much more responsive.
7. Everything working much faster lagless now.
8. More Detailed battery usage.
9. Bigger lock icon.

That's cool .... While I am on a custom ROM - Rocket 22 (the update won't show on my note), can you share the hindi keyboard apk and the torch widget apk ... It should be possible to pull these out through root explorer (unless you're not rooted!) ... Thanks in advance, Envy

more changes i've noticed :
1.Stock music playes now has a nice feature which is 'AUTO OFF', its in the settings.
2.The stock music player (finally) sorts according to the track number in albums view.

Auto off was already there.
But sorting is new.

I think kies only recognises the versions updated by itself. Third party flashing does not get recognised and updated by Kies. (as far as i know)

Hi ... Have you flashed DDLA2 manually? .... or DDLA1, and trying to get updated to DDLA2 now via kies? ..... Since 'All ROMs sticky post' only has link for DDLA1, and not DDLA2 ... Is DDLA2 update also available as a flashable file? .... Links appreciated ..... Thanks, Envy

The update available on Kies is DDLA5 not LA2. i did upgrade using Kies. BTW i was on KL3.

Setting --> language and Keyboard -->check One hand Operation box

I'v got notice for similar update in Serbia,Eastern Europe.My device is rooted because I need firewall for certain apps...Could I unroot, update,then again root it without loosing apps..firewall and sim unlocker?
What is your suggestion?

Right Now over Kies/OTA available FW is DDLA5
actually it has baseband DDLA2, thats why it may have misunderstanding. ROM known as PDA (build number)
At presently available ROM for india is
PDA DDLA5
Baseband DDLA2
Kernel DDLA5 (likely, I have not updated kernel, so correct if wrong)

hello i bought it today opened it and it updated the firmware everything good and te keyboard language too.then it updated again and the settings were fine but the keyboard languages had to be downloded instead but i tap and it wont dowoad the greek or any other. help and merry christmas hoho

my friend its very simple i tap on the language and it says failed to download thats it.

Do u want I help ya or not? I need see if u have installed the correct ROM for ur region, if not, u dont gonna download any language
EDIT: I hope the problem no will be that u forget turn on the WIFI when u try to download this pack of language

hello sir ,if the download doesnt work,There is only one way..u can download a keyboard app from the market which supports greek.. ?ie. Greek keyboard in Playstore. Have a nice day.
