Cyanogenmod 6 - Damaged SD card - Nexus One General

With cyanogenmod 6 I seem to get damaged sd card a lot. If my battery dies for instance and I plug it in I get it. Sometimes when I copy music to my phone from pc and after unmounting it I get it. I have to then format it to fix it. Never had this issue with stock. Anyone else experience this?

maybe the reson about app2SD. We move alot of app to SD.
And when we mouth SD card become flashdisk, we will have error about apps running on SD.

same here..
for 6 months i hadnt got any problem.. but now the phone isnt recognizing the storage card
Use one of these to format your SD-card again:

I want to format it.. but I want to back up it first because I have a lot of things that I dont want to lose.. But even my pc, doesnt shows me the storage card.. doesnt recognize it, to back up it..
please help..
If even card reader on PC can't recognize contents of SD, you can probably throw away that SD...
But, for last chance, try to read it with SD reader which came with SD card (if that was a case) or on another PC...
I will try my SD card in another phone... i havent SD reader.. I havent done anything to my phone.. It was ok, when I woke up and my phone didnt recognize my SD..
I heard about a program called restoration.. search for this..
maybe this can help me?.. format my SD, and then restore my things on SD again?
sooner or later all sdcards die be sure to backup important data from your sdcard to your computer once in awhile
My experience....
I see a number of comments about this problem in the Touch HD so I will share my experiences.
My HD quit recognizing the memory card some time ago. Occasionally I could re-install a ROM and get it to function briefly. As soon as I installed programs on the card, the links would disappear and the card would become unreadable. I tried different cards, I tried new cards, I formatted the card on my PC, I ran task29 to clean ROM memory prior to installing a new ROM and I I tried the stock HTC ROM. The micro SD cards are always perfectly functional and readable on my PC and on other devices including a friend's Touch HD.
After all of this, I gave up and I now use the HD without a memory card. I have become very frugal with memory useage!
If anyone discovers a fix for this malady, your solution would be greatly appreciated.
I searched.. and the only I found is that we have, as soon as we get our new SD card, to do a FAT32.. so it will not have a lot of problemss
If the card is formatted correctly, and is recognisable in a PC and other devices, then it's more than likely to be a hardware issue.
I know, because one of my devices is also broken exactly like this. It's likely the SIM/SD Comboboard, but I've never found a supplier for spares . . anyone know of anywhere?
Hello guys,
Same problem with touch hd. tried everything mentioned. task29, different roms, other sd-cards, reformatting etc... still no luck!
hope someone is going to find a solution soon!
Greetings
disapearing micro SD
I also had the same problem some time ago when connecting to pc through USB opting for disc drive connection and not using the sync button, then solved the problem when I flashed a new ROM.
Regards,
I also have this problem.
I've had the 8GB SD Card for about a year now and untill now, its always worked without a problem.
I installed a Topix Rom this weekend. I also installed most of my programs to the storage card.
Within a day it was dropping in and out. I am able to see the card, but not run any mp3's off it.
When the card drops out, I can either take the card out and reinsert it or restart the phone and the card is visible again. It still cant play mp3s or videos though.
Anyone else having this problem since they've installed a new Rom?

Quick update...
I tried formatting the sd card & it worked. Thanks people

Spares for hardware fault
Just to add, as I said previously about my device, the SDCard reader was faulty, and HTC Europe refused to supply the part without a HTC Service Centre repair.
For anyone else having hardware issues, I managed to source the part from China, and now it's working perfectly again after a simple repair.

[Q] SD card is schizophrenic

anyone ever had their sd card stop responding and make all their apps disappear from the app drawer? I dont use apps2sd even the stock froyo because of responsiveness issues when mounting and unmounting the card. It pisses me off cuz i couldn't even read the card from my pc so i had to reformat it and consequently lose all my data... it's like it just stops being recognized by my phone and my computer all of a sudden. This has happened on numerous roms and kernels so i don't think it's software related. Is it time for a new card?
every week or so I will mount mine and give it an error check in windows just in case and since I been doing that my card hasn't given me any issues, it used to do what you described
that happend to my all the time but sometime a pull of the battery solve changed cards but it seems ist the phone i got fresh rom, but in cm7 doesnt happend to me
If you can't read it on your PC, it could certainly be a bad SD card. One program I've used to test SD cards is h2testw. It'll write data to the full capacity of the card, then verify the data it wrote. Format the card first.

Don't let the German on the site scare you -- there's an English option in the program. There are other testing tools as well, but this one has worked well for me.

sd card removed..anyone else have this issue?

after i boot up i get a toast notification "SD card removed" which is impossible since the sd is under the battery. i haven't touched the sd in months. anyone else have this issue or someone know how to fix it?
First thing to check is your cable. If you have a cheap cable, try the one that came with the phone ( HTC Cable ) . Cheap cables are notorious for causing all kinds of issues. Including the one you described. It has happened to me. Also, check the Micro USB port on the phone and on the PC. Make sure they're clean and dust free. If none of that works. Power off the device, remove the batt. Pull the SD Card and check it to make sure it's good. If it is load it back into the device and try it again to make sure it wasn't just loose. If after all that it still doesn't read it, you may have to reformat the card.
im confused what does the cable have to do with the phone reading the sd, few days ago my sd card just unmounted itself and hasnt been working since. i dont wanna format the card i have lots a stuff i need on it. the phone sees the sd in recovery and i can browse the sd.

I've never had this issue but you may want to try reformatting. Just copy all the contents of your sd over to your pc first, then format and copy back. It's kind of a head ache but if nothing else it's always good to have a backup... cause you never know when your card might get fried.

+1 to what Crump said. But if you do have a real HTC Cable try it. Or any other cable for that matter. Cheap cables have a tendency to fail. Which sometimes causes the card not to be read. If nothing else at least you eliminate the possibility of that being the issue. Also, it's easier than having to reformat the card.
thanks guys, it was the sd card i put in another phone (xperia arc) it read the card for about 5 mins, the arcs card was good in my shift. im formatting the card using the arc hopefully it works.

[Q] External SD problem

I just flashed SlimBean 4.3.build.2.2-OFFICIAL-1738 to my Galaxy S3 I747 (AT&T version).
Since then I'm having problems accessing my external SD card that I'm pretty sure is fine since it's what I just flashed the rom from. When I first tried to mount the card in SlimBean it wanted to format it. I let it try to format, but it seemed to struggle - took a long time and got a little unresponsive.
I've pulled it and formatted it fat32 in a PC using an adapter, but SlimBean still does not work with it. Mounting, unmounting and attempts to access this card seem to have caused one freeze and one random reboot. All seems good with the rom when the card is out, or as long as I don't try to access it.
I successfully ran a TWRP backup of my new SlimBean system to this external SD. Behavior of the card is still spastic in SlimBean. It keeps showing card was removed followed by preparing the card over and over in the notification area when I try to access it from ES or Slim file explorers. I was able to see from the ROM that the TWRP backup files are there and they appear to be the right size, but the card is behaving badly.
Anyone else ever run into this problem, or have any ideas as to a solution?
I'm still fighting this SD card. I've formatted it fat32 with GParted (quick). Formatted it with a terminal mkdosfs -F 32 (sloooow). Now my phone can see it and I can browse files I've put there using a computer, but the phone can't write to the SD card. Also a media player, using rocket player, can play back songs; however, it only plays back the first 4 - 6 seconds then skips to the next song.
I'm starting to suspect a faulty card or slot in my S3. Still hoping someone from the community might have solved a similar problem....

What to do with my HD2?

Just found my old HD2 again! There's a problem tho: The phone bootloops when trying to start it. When putting the SD Card in a card reader, Windows shows the folders for a few seconds and says that the Card is not correctly formatted. And when trying to mount the SD card via CWM it's painfully slow. Anyone know what to do? I'd like to get my old stuff and install Android 4.3 on it. I have a 32gb Class 10 card, should I use DirectSD?
