I have downloaded podcasts from iTunes stores. These podcasts have chapter information.
I have tried serveral podcast appz and audio book appz none of them support podcast(.m4a) chapter information.
Any dedicated podcast app which plays your already downloaded podcasts which has the ability to select the chapters in the podcast.
Any success?

Been using this, and it's great. Three questions
a) I can listen to podcasts OK by connecting via WiFi, browsing through the menu for podcasts and choosing one, however this seems to stream it over the WiFi - is there anyway to download the whole podcast so I can listen to it when I don't have WiFi access?
b) Videos that are formatted for my iPod don't play - I can hear the sound, but there is no picture. Does PP3 not play iPod-formatted .mp4 files?
c) Visualisations, browsing by genre/album and album name showing while the song is playing only seems to work if I'm listening to an mp3 file - for m4a files the song plays but I can't use these features?
Conduits has their own forum at http://www.conduits.com/community/forum_topics.asp?FID=19
Your best bet is to post your questions there.
Is there an application developed that will play audio books similar to the ipod?

For audible:

MS Reader is for ebooks.
Search for MortPlayer. It is an MP3 player with bookmarking features and nice folder management which helps if you have ripped a bunch of audio book CD's to MP3 files.
Thanks...I'll look into those suggestions.
Im looking for a good dedicated podcast app. Im looking for something the will automatically download a certain amount of podcast and support different type of podcast types. streaming downloads would be a plus. Thanks for any of your help.
Have you tried Kinoma? I love that program.
Also there is an RSS reader that allows you to link to podcasts but i'm not sure what is called.
Kinoma Play and the Podcast-friendly RSS Hub are a great combination.
Thanks guys these work awesome!
BeyondPod is [imo] the best free podcast/rss app for winmo.
beyond pod saves your place when you stop listening to a podcast, do any other apps do that? rss hub does not unless you leave media player in the background when you do something else.

...but if you use MortPlayer to play the files, it can save your place as well as having various other benefits (key remapping, for example)

agreed. I have used this combo for a while now, i actually upgraded to kinoma play (the free one is kinoma freeplay) because i liked it so much.
I agree on Beyondpod - it is great. For RSS I prefer SPB News - more finger friendly and does a better job of DLing the entire article instead of just the teaser.
I use pocket player 4.1, its not free but its a great player for streaming podcasts, you can even search the directories for the music, big downside is it is a battery junkkie and tends to heat up the phone, i leave my phone plugged in charging at work with a fan pointed straight at it when i'm using it. if i turn off the app and reopen it does go to last listened podcast, or music, but does not start from where it left off. however it does allow you to skip through the podcast which other players may not allow you to do. here's a link to conduits website where you can download a demo version to check it out. http://www.conduits.com/products/player/download.asp
Has anyone figured out a way to play externally downloaded podcasts (mp3s) using Google's "Listen" app?
(In other words, use Listen to play something that was not downloaded by the app)
I would love to know this too - if I download an mp3 of a podcast which is no longer hosted online can I somehow add it to the Listen app and listen to it through that or do I have to add it to the Music app?
I asked on the Google forums and it looks like it's impossible
The files have hidden information embedded or something so that Listen will pick it up.
Has anyone figured out how to transfer podcasts to a WP8 device and have them be recognized by the OS as podcasts (instead of just plain songs)? There must be a way because the desktop sync app is able to pull downloaded podcasts from your itunes library and have them show up as actual podcasts on the phone.

Amen! Would love to be able to just copy my MP3 books into the podcast directory and then be able to listen to them using the built in podcast player. Then my bookmarks are saved and it works flawlessly.
iTunes Work Around
Hi all
This was posted in the WPCentral forums:
"I just managed to get some podcasts onto my phone... (thanks to a suggestion from @TheRomit on Twitter)
If you've not already got it installed, install iTunes (bare with me)... and find your podcast(s) in the iTunes Store. Subscribe to them, and let it download at least one episode of each.
Then crank up the Windows Phone sync tool, and import settings from iTunes. You should see your podcasts appear under the Xbox music app. From there you can then hit Subscribe, and it should automatically down your podcasts (when you're plugged into power, and on wifi). I haven't tried the last bit yet, but it let me subscribe fine."
God bless

IIRC, later in that very thread the guy corrects his instructions and notes that subsequent episodes DO NOT automatically download.
