Just proceed with the rooting. If an error occurs during the process, it might be the goldcard. Most user don't have any problem regarding creating a goldcard.

How to get CID from SD card?

Hi guys, I need this to get my gold card but how do I find it? Thanks.

Thanks, I wanted an app that would read the CID from the SD card reader in my laptop. QMAT doesn't appear to be able to do that.

[Q] Goldcard Question

I have a 16gb miniSD and I attempted to make it into a goldcard using the windows app. That sd had stuff (music and apps) in it. Did making it into a goldcard while it had stuff in it possibly change or damage the existing data inside it?
If it is permanently a goldcard, how do I stop it from being so? Is there a way to completely wipe and format everything?
PS. Accidentally placed this in the wrong forum. =/
You were supposed to format it in the phone..then change the hex through hex editor..then put in your phone and downgrade and if you no longer need it as a gold card you do a clear through storage and sd in the settings menu

I used the gold card method posted up within the thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=832503
I don't know too much about the technicalities of exactly how these gold cards work. But in the method I linked, you have to start with a blank, newly formatted card. I backed up my files from my SD card onto my PC, formatted the SD card, made it into a gold card, then restored my files.
If you want to stop it being a gold card, then re-format it.

sd card problem

hey everyone.
i've got a question regarding my sd card. i am on miui MCGv7.7 and the sd card just won't be detected. it doesn't pop up in the settings nor in any file explorer.
but, and this is strange for me, if i remove the sd card my sgs notifies me that an sd card was removed. this works also the other way around: it notifies me if i plug one in.
it is a sd card from sandisk and contains 16gb.
does anyone have any clues?
thanks folks,
klaus
No ideas?

ok, i solved it. you need to flash a froyo bootloader. i thought i already did this while i was flashing miui but obviously it changed somehow back to the gingerbread bootloader.
for the other poor people who have the same problem: i used this for changing the bootloaders:

Flash Android WITHOUT SD card?

Is there any way or any android roms that can be flashed WITHOUT the use of an SD card?
My SD card is currently unrecognized on my windows 7, CWM and WM6.5 after unsuccessful attempts at installing the latest WP7 Mango (I also tried unlocking my SD card, but it failed to detect card). By unrecognized I mean that the system CAN'T SEE IT AT ALL, like there is NO SD CARD INSERTED.
I heard that android 'could' recognize cards that are otherwise unrecognizable and be able to fix it. It's my last and only hope left to save my SD card.
Only some devices can unlock the sd cards..
See the win7 section of hd2

Hrm.. I don't think my SD is locked though, if it was then XBmod's unlocker would've worked and unlocked it. It's just that my SD card isn't detected at all...
Oh okay use a SD Card reader and format it with "sd formatter"
I had the same problem with my SD card, turned theres a difference between micro SD and micro SDHC, well mine and many other older card readers do not recognize this SDHC type at all.
good luck
I got a adapter for that when I bought my micro sdhc card.
Maybe you get one

i did to, but apparently my (built-in) card reader was too old, it wasnt the shape or adapter or anything, it just wouldnt recognize it - but at least it taught me a lesson, always nand backup and careful with the wipes

same problem here, but i think it's a known issue. maybe something with the internal sdcard-control-chip.
Try to format and repartition the card or by a new one
