Is there anyway I can change the look of my status bar without an entire theme? I'd also like to change my notifications menu and all apps screens but I care more about the status bar I'm on virtuous 3.0.1

You have to open up framework-res.apk, look for a file named something like framework/drawable-hdpi/status-background.png (not the exact name, but its similar), edit it using photoshop to make it transparent (create a new layer, delete original layer, fill it with some color, and change opacity to some %), then put this new png back into the apk using 7zip.
Push it back into your phone using adb or create an update.zip using the tool found somewhere in this forum.

you need to use something like desktop visualiser or folder organiser
When you add a new shortcut you get an option to change the icon right after selecting the app. Would be so nice if you could change icons on existing shortcuts.

Here's a tutorial on customizing LauncherPro - lots of links to icon & dock collections there, as well as some custom Desktop Visualizer icons.

Am I right in guessing nobody found an answer?
might be easier just to use adw and get a theme that you like, it's less hassle and changes the icons for you...

Yeah I have ADW all set up and organized with the icons I like.
Thing is, I'm trying LP since yesterday and my Milestone 2 (Droid 2) feels faster and more responsive... And I'm not using live wallpapers or any other bloatware lol.
For example, when I click on a blank spot and click on 'create widget' (normal widgets, not LPP widgets) the menu for the widgets appear instantly. In ADW after I click 'widgets' it takes three seconds for the widget menu to appear.
Same thing with the app drawer, 3 seconds of black screen on ADW and instant on LPP, and I'm using the 3D mode in both.
You can change folder color by using 7Zip, Find your Launcher Pro .APK file right click, select 7Zip, OPen Archive. Drag the res file to your desktop. Click " Drawable-hdpi find the PNG folder files, should be two(OPENED, and CLOSED). Edit files with Photoshop or whatever program you desire and SAVE. Go to APK folder in 7Zip and delete the res folder. After your done drag the modified res folder back to where you originally grabbed it in the 7Zip file. Install APK on your phone and your folders should all now be your modified version. Caution you will have to un-install Launcher Pro first then redo your folders.

whats the name of the clock and the weather widget?
looks amazing, but i can´t find it
Hi, I have had the previous versions of MIUI working great and have been able to change themes easily by simply dropping in the MIUI/Themes folder then ap0plying through settings/personal. Something in the latest versions seem to have changed, with no explanation?! Firstly some themes dont show, Ive noticed that the file extension has changed to MTZ but then when I apply as a "system style" some things change but not all, eg background and icons unchanged.
Help this is one of the main reasons I changed to MIUI, now it seems frustatingly complicated and broken?!
Using stock 12.24 and ebglish language pack btw
please post a mirror!!
can u post a .psd file so we can make or own icons???
Anyway to make this exact dialer for sense. I fell in love with this miui elite themes dialer.. please message me if u can

How do I have to install this theme?
The same way as an sense theme? By using Rom manager and install from sd?
the link is broken can anyone fix that for our downloaders
I installed a ROM yesterday and now my notification bar, once it's expanded/pulled down, has a certain amount of transparency... a lot more transparent than I'd like.
Are there any simple mods I can do to change the alpha values to make it more opaque or have I just got to put up with it? Or is it possible to install a different notification (expanded) screen?
Thanks.
The notificatiin bar can be modified from theme, so you have to find a good one for your rom.

I see, so I can't just modify that current screen? I have to overwrite the whole current theme? Was kind of hoping to keep it how it is and just get the background colour to solid black of the expanded notifications bar.
Thanks anyway, was beginning to think this could be a possible scenario.

Of course you can just change the background.
Thats how a theme is done, taking all the files and modifying them.
You would have to find the files responsible for the notification bar and change them to suit your needs.
How to do that i don't know, but i'm sure the forum search and google will help you out, when you search for something like "android theme tutorial" or something like that.
This is a ported version of the HTC slate skin from sense 2.0 for Oxygen 2.1.3
I love the look of the new sense but I also love the speed and lightness of Oxygen.
Initial theme was done using UOT kitchen and I then substitute some drawable-hdpi and edited some XML:
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Feel free to mod it as you please and share it on this post.
I am open to suggestion to make it closer to the original look
Theme ->OxySlate2.zip
Theme with Blue Status bar icons -> OxySlate2-blueic.zip
Locker skin for Widgetlocker from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1004437
Dock for launcherpro ripped and modded by me : Dock.png
New Dock with different Browser icon :Dock1.png
Wallpaper : Wallpaper
FancyWidget Slate Clock skin : SlateClock.zip Unzip it under - Android >Data > FancyWidget >Clock Skins
Blank PNG to substitute with launcherpro icons : Blank icon.png
Changelog
Code:
01/06/11
Updated Theme for 2.1.3 compatibility
will keep only blue status bar icons version as final version.
05/05/11
Fixed wifi blue status bar icons that were looking bad
03/05/11 V2 Blue Status Icons
Made a new version with stock Gingerbread Status bar icons for wifi, mobile network and battery but in blueish color. Check screenshot.
01/05/11 V2
Changed Battery look
Changed notification status bar to look closer to original one
Progress bar color change
New Dock with higher quality browser icon
01/05/11
Fixed random FC after menu text color was changed
you can either change the xml code for the writing or more easily
and better looking imo, make the popup menus black, like how they
are in gingerbread by changing :
menu_background_fill_parent_width.9.png
menu_background.9.png
menu_separator.9.png
These files are in framework-res or maybee systemui for gingerbread, im not sure.
I think these are the files for the menus but have a look and
see if they look like the same thing, you can just swap them for some
stock gingerbread ones which are black.
What's the name of the clock? FancyWidgets?
@esk02k Thanks for the tips, I was thinking about keeping the white background as in the Slate skin but I will probably go for a dark background until I find a solution
@Csharpe Yes it is Fancy Widget, could not find a Slate skin for it though so it is the standard H7C one.
Edit: I just made my own skin for FancyWidget, links on first post.

i was in the same boat but never solved it because its hidden somewhere for
htc sense. I was trying to turn the menus black and the text white,
for stock android you should be able to sort it tho.
its in styles.xml
I really love the slate theme, will give this a try.

I guess it should be cut from a Desire HD screenshot and edited. I will try if I have time.
Just made a new version with stock gingerbread icons on statusbar but I modified the to glow in blue so that they blend better with this theme.
Zip on first post
Great work! Just tested the theme on Oxygen 2.1.1 and it looks fantastic. The blue is not too strong so in my opinion looks great! Keep up the good work!
One request if possible, can the battery percentage be removed?
Would anyone be able to make this into a Theme Chooser theme for CM7? I'd love them forever!
I am having FCs on Oxygen 2.1.2, PLEASE update!

Agreed, this was a great theme.
Updated Theme for 2.1.3 compatibility. I will keep only the version with blue icons on status bar.
Looking Fabulous. It's simple, and elegant....like me really. No seriously thanks for the update, and its a great tribute to not just yourself, but to the UOT Kitchen, which grows from strength to strength.
Will we be seeing a Dev-null version?
Thanks and Regards.
must have on my phone

I did this theme for myself and I am happy with Oxygen, If anybody wants to convert it for devnull, feel free to do so and share.
Does anyone know of a way to change the font color of the lockscreen text? Or is that something attached to the theme chooser theme?
Never thought about it until today when I changed my background and all my text was unreadable.

You have to decompile the framework and edit some xmls... The hard part is setting up the tools needed to accomplish this. It can be pretty tricky if starting from scratch. In saying that I have a metamorph for my theme that changes the all text color including the lockscreen to blue. I have a red one but it's not separate like the blue version is. You can find a link to my theme in my signature. Let me know what you are looking for exactly?

Thanks for the info Smokem. I was hoping there was a quick way to change the lockscreen font color without using metamorphs or anything like that. I wanted some quick way to change it up on the fly while I was picking out new backgrounds for it. If it's more work than just clicking a few buttons or going through a color wheel then it's not what I was looking for lol.
Thanks anyways though =)
Well I understand what your asking for and if it existed I'd definitely recommend it lol. In all actuality metamorph is the easiest way to accomplish what you want. It can be as easy as a couple clicks . Just sayin...
