[Q] Notification bar/page - Android Software Development

I installed a ROM yesterday and now my notification bar, once it's expanded/pulled down, has a certain amount of transparency... a lot more transparent than I'd like.
Are there any simple mods I can do to change the alpha values to make it more opaque or have I just got to put up with it? Or is it possible to install a different notification (expanded) screen?
Thanks.

The notificatiin bar can be modified from theme, so you have to find a good one for your rom.

I see, so I can't just modify that current screen? I have to overwrite the whole current theme? Was kind of hoping to keep it how it is and just get the background colour to solid black of the expanded notifications bar.
Thanks anyway, was beginning to think this could be a possible scenario.

Of course you can just change the background.
Thats how a theme is done, taking all the files and modifying them.
You would have to find the files responsible for the notification bar and change them to suit your needs.
How to do that i don't know, but i'm sure the forum search and google will help you out, when you search for something like "android theme tutorial" or something like that.

Turning Off Start Menu Transparency

I have WM 6.1 and have recently changed my background to something that has some white in it. Now because of this and the fact that the start menu is transparent I can't read some of the text in the menu.
Before anyone suggests it, yes I'm aware of how to change the text color using the registry. I am not interested in doing this, I tried it and didn't really like it.
I am looking to do one of two things:
1. Remove the transparency.
2. Add a thin black stroke to make it readable.
Any suggestion that works is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Does anyone have any knowledge of what I can do here? This is really pretty obnoxious and I don't know how to fix it.

Actually, the start menu is not transparent, but rather it uses a piece of the picture in your background to make it look as if it was transparent. Changing system fonts might solve your issue. There are a few programs that will allow you to do that in Dev&Hacking. Also, I believe that mrMakk has a tutorial on how to do this.
Alternatively, you can try to change the menu picture by using something like Theme Creator v2 or Theme Generator v2 (I can't remember the correct name for the program).
Thanks man, I'll give the theme generator a try when I get home.
Theme generator only works on 2002. The themes it generates could not be applied to WinMo 6.1...
Anyone got another suggestion? Surely there is a way to change the start menu picture in WinMo 6.1...
When I select a picture and set it as a Today Background, it brings up a screen so that I could select a Transparency Level.

He is asking about the transparency of the Start Menu isn't he? When you click on Start it drops down a menu correct?
On my phone, when I go to save a picture as my wallpaper, I am able to change the transparency of the Start menu. I'm not saying that's the only way, that's the only way I know and it worked for me.
If I'm wrong, I apologize.

I haven't used the Black Infinitium theme in a long time, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't change the stock icon shape, it just changes the the color... well... to white.
Unless you're referring to the default battery icon it comes with, which is definitely un-stock-like (is that even a word? ). However, that can easily be fixed. Assuming you're using the ROM you have listed in your signature...

... You should have the ability to switch the battery style. I can't test this, as I don't own a Nexus 4 and have never used CrDroid, but according to the ROM's OP, it has the ability to switch the battery style to percentage text and battery icon... So I'll assume it does. Thus, if that's truly the case, all you got to do is apply the Black Infinitium theme, go into your settings, change your battery style to battery icon (or experiment with whatever other battery style options CrDroid offers) until you find the stock-like white battery icon. I know when I rocked AOKP and the Black Infitium theme, I could do just that. Hopefully your ROM can do the same. :good:
Anyways, let me know how it goes. Hopefully you get what you're looking for.

Thanks but it changes more than the status bar icons e.g. volume seeker and gives the phone a more darker look leaving it stock background colour
I got the white status bar icons needed but cant make a theme
Seriously, I have searched high and low for a LONG time, back to when I was running CM 9 and 10 on my Nexus S 4G for a theme that ONLY changes the status bar icons to white and have still came up with nothing. I feel like that'd be something in high demand and easy to find but I guess not. I mean, even changing the overscroll glow and highlighting would be nice. I've considered learning how to theme just do make one lol. If anyone could help us out, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, it's the media folder. The exact path is /system/media.
@fahadsul3man; Be sure the animation .zip is called bootanimation.zip and has the following permissions: rw-r--r--. Reboot your phone and you should be good to go. A suggestion, be sure to make a backup of your original bootanimation.zip in case you ever wish to revert back; this can be done by adding the extension .bak to the end of the bootanimation.zip.

[Q] How do I change color of navigation buttons?

How do I change color of navigation buttons? (Those three buttons) I'm running cyanogenmod 10.1.
The colour of the icons, or the bar itself?
If you want to change icons you can do it quite easily with this app.
If you want to change the colour of the actual bar, it will be a bit harder. It involves decompiling, editing, and recompiling system apks, since cm doesnt have this feature built in.
Theres a paid app called Softkeyz. You'll need to be rooted though.
just change your CM for an AOKP, of the best rom ever : RoobBox, and you can change every color of etherithing, and also a per app color

[Q] fullscreen only with stock wallpaper?

Hi! why only with stock LG wallpaper I can see a full screen image in my home? with custom image, the topbar it's only quite transparent, not totally like stock.
how can I solve this?
Been having the same question. After some search, it seems that using the Xposed mod is one of the way to get a 100% transparent bar. Not sure if there are any other ways..

I'll let other, more informed G2 owners confirm this, but I believe that if you install wallpapers via an apk, the G2 sees those as "stock" and you can get a transparent notification bar. I am still exploring this.

Wallpaper as an apk..? Okay unless I'm going crazy from all the studying that is something new to me. I don't remember installing wallpaper.. However I did install apps that has a selection on wallpapers. After setting it thru the app, the status bar becomes translucent. Thanks for the info though. Will search around because I really liked the transparent status bar.

Let me re-phrase that:
I meant to say that you can find apps (apks) that install wallpapers - and when they do (I believe) the G2 will see them as "stock", not as "pictures" that are used as wallpaper. When those wallpapers are seen as stock, you get 100% transparency in the notification bar. This is what I think - still looking into it. Hope this is helpful!
Well it's pretty simples really ... the status bar icons are white and aqua, these would only be easily visible on a dark (non-white) background, which all the stock wallpapers are ... now if you use a custom wallpaper, I doubt the phone can detect what colour the wallpaper is, so to avoid numpties setting a white wallpaper and then wondering/complaining why their icons have disappeared, they have set it so that there is a semi transparent black bar for all custom wallpapers to ensure the icons can still be seen regardless of what colour the wallpaper is.
Simples.

Makes sense.
So is it the case that when you install wallpapers via an app/apk, the G2 sees those as "stock" and won't automatically apply the semi-transparent background? Just wondering...

I'm not sure about that, I don't tend to set wallpapers straight from an app, I always download them, I actually only really use the wallbase.cc app for all my wallpapers. (best wallpaper app).
But if was to take a guess, I would say that the phone assumes all the pre-installed stock wallpapers are compatible with a transparent status bar ... so if you get the phone to think your custom wallpapers are preinstalled stock wallpapers then it might work.
This could be just as simple as saving the wallpapers in the correct system folders along with the other stock wallpapers. Which might explain why if you set it from the app directly it works, as you're not actually downloading the wallpaper, so the app only saves it as a temporary file in the system folders, thus making the phone think it's a stock wallpaper.
Again, these are all assumptions, I haven't tested any of it so it could all be useless info ... but worth looking into .. I do like the transparent status bar.

I believe the phone came with a light blue sky wallpaper. That should have made the status bar translucent. But it didn't. Is it possible to put in wallpapers together with the system's default set? You just need to add pictures into the specific folder eh?
tried to achieve the same with GravityBox Xposed module and it works just as strange as observation in this thread. the status bar becomes transparent right after applying the settings no matter the wallpaper but it goes into the usual semi transparent mode right after you visit the app drawer for example.

Issue with 3minit battery/clock

So I'm trying to live with the fact that I can't remove the 3minit battery and clock from the ROM I'm using, but I have an issue that is driving me insane. The battery and clock are set to white, so when I go to a screen with a white background, like settings, the battery and clock disappear.
Is there any way to make them change to black like the rest of the system status bar icons? If not, I guess I will be going back to my old ROM...

As for 3minit battery you can change the colors of the battery if you download one of the colorable battery themes

Yes, I understand that, but there is no way for the color to adapt to the background. So if the background is light, the color should be black. If the background is dark, then the color should change to white. With 3minit, it's either always black or always white (or whatever color I set it to). The system default is to adapt to the background. Why is that not an option?

What I always did with 3minit (before this V20 which I want battery in the second screen) I used it to hide battery, then use system settings for battery percentage in status bar. That way it should adapt.
Id look into the ModControl and ModInstaller apps being developed here for the V20.
It has the ability to add and remove a ton of ui mods. Depending on the rom it may change a good bit as it replaces the systemui with a modded on.
But it would allow you to turn 3mini clock mod off or on in your rom. Making it a revert to stock kinda option persay. It should be very universal on v20 stock roms.

Unfortunately, the mods are hard-coded into the ROM and are not configurable through ModControl, which would have made better sense. I like customization, but not at the expense of options. If I wanted that, I would have stayed with an iPhone. I think the best solution is to just go back to your ROM.

Hi,
Please did you manage to get the clock changes the color based on the background ? Thanks
