While trying to flash my Tattoo I ran into some trouble, and now I'm pretty much stuck at using Fastboot and holding DownVolume+TurnON to get into HBoot.

To be more specific, I was following the " [GUIDE] All Tattoo questions and answers see here (from A to Z)! " from "TheSSJ" user and when I did:
# insmod ./tattoo-hack.ko
Click to collapse
This was the answer:
insmod: init_module '/data/local/bin/tattoo-hack.ko' failed (file exists)
Click to collapse
I thought, "hmm if it's there then it must've started" and proceeded. Once I entered:
- # ./flash_image boot /sdcard/boot.img
Click to collapse
I got many errors, that I know are not supposed to happen.
I've tried a awfull lot of things and no success. Later I'm gonna get an adapter from microsd to Sd so I can directly change my files, and attempt to put a new recovery.img to flash, but any suggestions on how to solve this?
I also almost did a gold card, only have to use the hex editor to in fact create it. Since I no longer can use my Tattoo can I instead use a MicroSD->Sd card adaptor in order to finish it?
Edit:
I can also get into the recovery console, the one with a phone and the triangle with a "!" inside of it. However I have no idea on what I can do there.
Edit2:
Tried again to:
fastboot recovery recovery.img
Click to collapse
Got the following:
sending 'recovery' (3998 KB)... FAILED (remote: not allow)
finished. total time: 0.000s

And to be clear, "fastboot devices" does indeed list one device.
This has been solved, look at the next post.
Since I had the info for a Golden Key I simply bought a MicroSD adapter for my computer, and finished turning it into one. Inserted it into the Tattoo.
Then I entered into VolDown+TurnON and choose back for fastboot, and connected the USB.
Now, I downloaded the RUU and HTC Sync. Since I had a problem connecting the Phone with Ruu, I, and I quote another post here on the forums:
7. "Start" > Right Click "Computer" > "Manage" > "Device Manager"
8. Check that the "ADB Interface" reads "My Hero", not "Android bootloader drivers" or anything else.
If it does then:
Right click "Android bootloader drivers" > "Update Driver Software" > "Browse my computer..." > "Let me pick from..." > "Have Disk..." > "Browse" > "C:\Program Files (x86)\HTC\HTC Driver\Driver Files\Win7_x64" > "androidusb.inf"
Once selected click "OK".
"My HTC" should show in the list of "compatible hardware" now, so select that and click "Next" to install the driver. Switch off the phone (may have to pull the battery).
Click to collapse
Then just went along with RUU and everything went perfect. My Tattoo is now once again at my pocket. Of course you'll lose all your data, but I rather not win a new brick...
Now I'm going to search around on how to know exactly how my phone is after the RUU, since I intend to update it to 2.2.
Sorry do you know how to fix this?

That's the factory recovery console (default), I think. I myself ain't a expert (newbie into this whole scene actually), just keep searching through the forums, although most of it is kind of messy and confusing. You just have to find the right words, and get a bit of luck.

I'm using flipz 1.56 RUU and for some reason, when it tells me to connect the phone to the PC, it says it cannot be found. I usually use a MAC to connect my Hero and all sorts of stuff, and I just found a PC to be able to unroot. What seems to be the issue? I know the phone is connected because I can look at it's folders and such.

I'm having this EXACT same issue... But, if you can look at its folders, go into the notifications and set it to "charge only" and make sure USB debugging is enabled.
You need to install HTC Sync on the PC in order to use the RUU.

Grrr...oh well unrooting I stay
Am about to unroot so I can take my Hero in to sprint, I have dust under the screen. Anyone want to point out the best (easiest) way to unroot?
I seen a post where it could be done by just sdcard, would that or using the kitchen be the best way to go?
I am running a 2.1 ROM.
Thanks!

Method 1 is dead simple
Just 5 steps?? WoW
I looked for a little bit today at work and could not find anything this easy. LOL
Anyone tested this?
1. Download the following file: http://www.multiupload.com/Q3RMV5MTRF
2. place in /root of SD card
3. Reboot phone into HBoot mode, by holding Volume Down
4. Press action (the trackball) when prompted
5. Reboot phone
while i havent done it, so cant confirm, the unroot from sd does seem to be the most foolproof way to do it. all their going to look for is the correct recovery.img and stock feel, so it only makes sense
Cool, Thanks!! I am going to give this a try (15 mins before I run in to sprint) I am going to hate to go with about my custom rom and add the added stuff I get with root!

I phone reboots and when I try to go to HBoot so I can nandroid a backup I have I get this screen.

Anyone know what the problem is?
I am attempting to root my HTC Panache (MyTouch 4G) with this guide.
The problem is with the first step which is installing adb and the USB driver. The guide referred to the cyanogenmod wiki on installing the android SDK. I believe that I followed all the instructions correctly but it does not show that my drivers are installed properly in windows device manager and CMD.

So here is the entire process that I took:
installed java sdk exe
downloaded Android SDK zip file and extracted to root C:\
opened SDK Manager
installed "Android SDK Platform-tools, revision 6" (revision 4 not available) and "Google USB Driver package, revision 4" packages in SDK manager
went into control panel > system > advanced settings > environment variables > double clicked "Path" > added ";C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools;C:\android-sdk-windows\tools"
downloaded and replaced the default "android_winusb.inf" file with the modified file from the cyanogenmod wiki
enabled "USB debugging" and ensured USB was in "charge only" mode in phone
opened CMD and typed in "adb devices", didn't show anything
opened windows device manager and found an "Android Phone" device with the yellow exclamation mark instead of "Unknown Device" with ADB listed under it as mentioned in the cyanogenmod wiki
right clicked and update driver software, clicked browse and located the "C:\android-sdk-windows\extras\google\usb_driver" folder with the modified .inf file
"Windows was unable to install your Android Phone"
I've been trying many things for hours so any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

All I needed to do was install the .exe you gave me, restart the computer, device manager > right-click the unknown android phone device and "scan for changes", then the driver automatically installed! confirmed with cmd > adb devices.
Thank you!

Np, the generic drivers normally don't install anyway, have to use the htc ones instead.

Off-topic but, another problem.
I've successfully generated the CID with SimpleGoldCard but it seems that the gold card IMG generator website psas.revskills.de/?q=goldcard is down.
Will it be online again? Is there any other way to get the IMG file?

I have no clue what the gold card is really, I last heard about it when people were rooting the magic. Since you mentioned CID, are you trying to unlock the phone fir other carriers ?

No, I do not need to unlock it. The phone is from my carrier Mobilicity, but people referred me to use the Videotron HTC Panache guide (link to thread in OP) because it has a newer ROM version and making a gold card allows to "flash RUU files with a different CID to your own device - in other words, it allows you to flash files that were not made for your phone."
Basically, there was a back-to-school sale on the HTC Panache from Mobilicity and people who wanted to root (and unlock) it followed the guide above.
Please give me any suggestions, thanks!
Odin is not recognize by my phone since CM 10.1 been installen on my phone
Good day!
Since Cyanogenmod 10.1 nightly been installed on my phone, Odin does not see the phone anymore even is the USB debugging is active on the phone. I am able to see the phone using the command ADB devices -l. I need Odin back because I want to put back the stock firmware on my phone which is Jelly Bean 4.1.2. from Virgin Mobile.
Can someone tell me why ADB can see my phone and not Odin?
Thank you!
I finally got it to work.

what is on the display of your kf ?
kindle fire static or animated or any other display ?
what do you see in device manager ?
sort of adb device ? kindle ?
When you go into device manager on your computer does it have a yellow triangle on your Android device? If it does, you need to install the drivers for it.
I know when I was rooting my device, I needed to keep installing the drivers. Not sure why but I did. Must have installed it about 4 times. Every time an action took place it needed to be reinstalled.

It's stuck on the yellow fire triangle.
In device manager, it is either Kindle (won't let me install drivers for it)
or 'unkown' - again, it won't let me install drivers for it.

I've tried to install the drivers but it always says that it cannot find any drivers in the folder I choose. And I've tried several different versions.
The drivers are in the KFU downlaod. There is a folder for them and you need to manually choose it so it searches there.

The KF auto install drivers. Fixed this by plugging the KF in going to Start>control panel>device and printers> you'll see 'Kindle' at the top>right click>properties>uninstall. Then run the fast boot bootmode 4000.

Boot up normally. Make sure you have enabled debugging. If you haven't, follow the guide here.
After that download ADB:
USB drivers required;
ADB interface.
Install the drivers and ADB. You can find ADB in your Start Menu or you can open CMD and cd to c:\adb
When you connect your phone to the computer in your CMD window type adb shell. You may get a security prompt on your phone to allow or deny. Tap on allow or similar.
Retype adb shell if needed and you should see:

Hello
Sorry if this was a very noob topic
I done lots of flashing new ROM or back in stock process but i almost gave up this time
My phone status are
No OS
TWRP installed
Can boot to recovery
PC can't recognize the phone
Typing ADB devices shows empty list
Typing Fastboot devices also shows empty lines
30% battery left
I recently try to install the Lollipop version for my phone but it turns out that the zip are behaving like OTA (yep the title of the zips are OTA)
What i mean is it returned my recovery to stock
Without thinking much further i did 'fastboot flash recovery TWRP2810.img' thing (Yes i rename recovery image that way so it will be more convenience for me) and wipe all partition in the phone through the TWRP without problems
One thing i forgot is to "refresh" all ADB and Fastboot driver for my phone on the PC
Now my phone states are "No OS" and "PC doesn't recognize my phone" wether in ADB (obvious cause i can't boot with no OS so no USB debugging for me) and Fastboot (Enter Bootloader is OK, enter TWRP is OK too)
I already try the WUG step for installing the needed driver but no success since my PC can't recognize my phone
Try on 4 PC at my office and all of them are ignoring my phone
What should i do now, please, any help will be appreciated since its already the time i ussualy already at home
Thank You Very VERY MUCH for any help I can get.

Once you're done extracting, boot your phone into bootloader mode, plug in USB, should show up as an unrecognized device.
Device manager from control panel, select device, properties, driver, update device driver, browse my computer, let me pick, all devices, have disk, navigate to where you extracted zip, select inf file, adb interface.
Should work.

Please lock this unuseful thread
Before locking the thread, can you repeat all the steps and try with ADB Composite Device instead of ADB Interface?
Also, did you try changing USB ports, sometimes these things get a little troublesome because of faulty USB ports.
Last but not the least, you could also try a change of cables.
