Something that I've never known that much about... radios.. from time to time people post the radio version they're using.. a few questions..
1. How can I find out what version I'm using?
2. Is there a database of all GSM hero radios, so I can check for the latest version
3. Is there anywhere here on xda or elsewhere where I can download radio images?
Thanks

i am using uk version of htc desire with my own custom rom based on the official wwe froyo rom.
the fm radio app in the wwe does not support the bandwidth of fm radio in japan where i live. recently, softbank has finally releasted 2.2 update for their branded version of desire. i thought i could simply copy the HtcFMRadio.* and com.htc.FMRadioWidget.* in my /system/app, but it did not work at all.
is this fm radio app in the softbank update protected so that it cannot be used in non-softbank rom or is it simply i did something wrong??
thanks in advance.
btw, this new(?) "Here are the similar threads we found" feature is really helpful!

Did you take the files from the Softbank update ZIP? They have a strange additional .p ending. Not sure if you can use them directly.
I tried to open one of these apk.p files with 7Zip, and it appears not to be an archive. Usually you can open apk files as archives.
Maybe you need to get them from an updated phone.

*.p's are patches. i retrieved the fm radio apk out of the rom backup using cw recovery.
Moved to Themes and Apps as not Development.

Right so it's the original mytouch. I suggest you grab a rooted ROM based on the Froyo update that was rolled out by tmobile a couple of days ago.
As for swype, it's a closed beta. There are installers floating around, but they're illegal for people to distribute, not to mention you need a new build every so often.

Make sure you are using the most up to date radio (currently 2.15.50.14).
If possible, put your phone data in your sig (check mine). It makes it easier for people to help you and diagnose problems you are having.

ok i installed the recommended radio version but it is still the same on connection
Next consider updating the rom you're using. The DFT rom was the first out. It looks like cotulla and dft meant it as a "base" rom, so other cooks could see how it's done. There are a few known bugs in it, and it doesn't look like they're going to get fixed. Projection (or prj) released an updated version of the same rom, with the known bugs fixed. If you can't live with the problems you have, switch to that, or even just try the kernel first.

I do not understand exactly what you are trying to say. Are you saying that when you flash the radios, they do not work. Or when you flash the NAND ROM via MAGLDR, it doesn't load. If it is a radio issue, you may need to Run As Administrator in order for the flash to work. If it is loading a ROM and you have MAGLDR working, then go to Option 8 and load the ROM zip file from there. I would suggest looking at the ROM thread you are trying to flash to obtain additional answers there. The OP for this thread just wanted to know if it is possible to flash different radios onto their HD2 phone.

Hi,
Do you know that you have to install the radio from the 4-colored screen?

Just follow the instructions, you will be fine.. most people who use this rom flashed any of the 3 gingerbread based radios and some tend to change their radio from time to time, between froyo and gingerbread...And what radio are you currently on?.. i would suggest you leave it, instead of changing it if your not experiencing any problems..the last thing i can say is that i flashed one of the radios and i was at my job and i got a horrible signal, but when i flashed the latest radio i saw signal improvement, and i never changed the radio again..
a simple way is to download the radio zip. leave it zipped. rename it PD15IMG.zip (if it isn't named that already) & drop it onto the root of your sd card (while connected to the computer, not into any folder, just onto the root). safely remove your device. CHECK MD5! while your phone is off, hold down the volume down & power buttons together, until the screen with the androids on skateboards appears (hboot). your phone is going to automatically scan for the file (the reason it needs to be named PD15IMG). it's going to ask you if you want to update, choose yes. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH BATTERY TO DO THIS. a progress bar will appear, let it do it's thing & then, once done, it'll say 'press power to reboot' or whatever. after you're done, i'd take the file off your sd, as everytime you go into hboot, it's going to scan & ask you to update.
or, if you're a visual learner, go to youtube.com, in the search bar, type mackster248. he previously owned a mt4g & made a ton of awesome tutorial vids. he did one on changing your radio.
hope this helps. good luck.
Thanks guys! I really appreciate it...that sounds a lot easier then using adb...and also how would I back up or save my current radio? I have never changed it specifically...I have only flashed roms and kernels...never a radio..so I am assuming my radio should be the stock one unless they change when you flash roms or kernels...again I am fairly new to this...I rooted my own device and flashed all my roms but I have not messed with my radio and I think I need too considering that my signal has been cutting in and out...thanks so much guys!

if you're not seeing any problems with your current radio, i don't see any reason why you need to change it. but no, there's no way to "back up" or save your current radio. if you really want to try a new radio though, i would suggest the panache one, it's really good
Thank you guys I really appreciate it! I figured it out...and it was really simple..I was totally over thinking it...but yes I was having problems with my old radio...I did flash the panache radio and it works great!...panache is Canadas version of the HTC glacier right? thanks again!
