here in CZ it use everybody

ICQ is still very popular around the world, especially in slavic/eastern european countries. I still use it because my same group of real life friends still uses it.
Oh, and is JPK the way to go right now? I'm on the Bell Canada I9000M, would JPK even work?
Sent from my GT-I9000M using XDA App

Not sure if it would work due to your region, but i just flashed this evening, rooted and applied lag fix and launcher pro, i have re-fallen in love with my sgs again today after being close to getting rid. Im not sure what i did the last time i tried jpk but it was nowhere near as responsive and lag free as it is right now.
Must have been user error on my part, i defo recommend jpk

i still us ICQ via FRING

is a firewall really necessary?

Rather than ICQ, you'd probably be better off using Jabber with a ICQ transport..

is good and bad at the same time
it's totally optional
but people that are some what paranoid might want to install it
it lets you monitor exactly what comes out of your phone, also what comes in
but it can cause a lot of side effects if not set properly.

Welcome to the club
Root..root...root....
Why root?
- Can change any custom rom you want...Froyo, CM, desire...anything..
- Overclock the CPU to 1.113GHz!!!
- Change basically anything on the phone..icons, notification bars, themes, settings, trackball colours, wifi tethering
- Better battery life by using custom kernels (im getting 24-26hrs battery life - moderate to heavy usage)
- Nandroid backups, titanium backup....
- Change camera app to desire or the newly found 720P HI-DEF recording...
- and much more
This will make ure phone to be the best smartphone on the planet...

My advice:
- don't root it yet. Wait for FroYo OTA. Once you're on official froyo, see if root is even beneficial to you or not. The longer u stay 100% covered on warranty, the safer you'll feel.
- get these:
swype (there's apk here somewhere)
barcode scanner (to get apps by scanning barcodes on webpages)
aldiko reader (ebook reader app, AWESOME)
astro file manager (doh)
battery left widget (approximates your battery time left)
DigiClock widget (best clock widget, imo)
flashlight app for non-rooted N1s (there's one on market, forgot name)
NewsRob (RSS reader from your google news account, free)
ShopSavvy (probably the best app ever created - scan any product barcode, it tells you local+web prices)
xda app (don't forget to turn off signature in the settings)
twitter (official app is the best, imo)
Enjoy and congrats!

Yep. AFAIK, this one is better than the more recent one (people are having problems with the newer version).
This one works like a champ.
i waited 3 months before rooting my nexus, which i just did a week ago. the number 1 best thing about rooting is nand backups! you can create an exact copy of your entire phone at an instant in time. every single part of the phone is backed up from each text message down to every item in your call log. and obviously the apps are included. even whatever theme you are using, like a black notification bar, etc.
so no matter how bad you screw up your phone, or want to experiment, you can always bring it right back to any instant in time within a few minutes. that's my biggest feature after rooting.
and of course trying out different ROMs, like cyanogen, froyo, etc.

IS there a way you know of to automatically go to the last tweet you read on twitter? other than this I Would agree its the best. I used to use Twicca and that managed this simple task.
wow thanks for all the advice guys i will be looking at some of those apps..as far as rooting i know all the benefits but im not as advanced to perform any of those tasks..also i use a mac does that make a difference in doing any of that stuff..
i would like to try that swipe how to put it on my phone just put it on my sd card and run it?
I just got my Nexus One yesterday and thoroughly enjoying it!
I got my nexus 2 weeks ago and had it rooted within and hour of opening the box
I got into Android about a month ago when I got my first G1 off craigslist to experiment with (then bought 4 more off craigslist, I'm an addict lol, go big or go home).
Being able to change stuff on the phone to make it more usable / faster is the best thing. I don't think I could use a stock OS phone.

In all honestly, Android on the Nexus is the only stock OS I've been able to use for more than a day without hacking it or wishing I could hack/change it (like on dumbphones). I'm still on stock because I am waiting for Froyo and still deciding whether root is worth losing 100% warranty.

Yes it seems so. I read somewhere else that till the end of the year there should be out a version for every android device. Hmm strange anyway.

Zorkman, That dont really matter though, means you can use it anywere and mobile net is pretty cheap in the uk.
The thing is, the Skype looks ok on the Wildfire. I mean, i didn't notice any problems related to low resolution, just the Force Closing ones. Which is strange, because as far as I know the original response from the developer was that Skype DOES NOT support Wildfire's Low Resolution, and it DOES. 'll be waiting for someone with more info.

Yeah, it's not a whole lot better. But, it works faster, better and is cleaner and easier to use. Now it uses the touch.facebook.com site, too, which is a slight improvment over the mobile.facebook.com site.
new look of facebook apk
heres the apk
whoever cant get it to download it.
Definitely an improvement, but still missing push updates and clicking on a notification still takes me to Facebook touch on the web instead of keeping me in the app. Still fail.

Is it just me, or is this new Facebook (on EVO running stock Froyo OTA) causing pretty serious wake-lock issues? If I look at battery history in Spare Parts it shows that it has a partial wake-lock for almost the entire time that my phone has been booted, which is causing the phone to sleep very little...draining the battery very fast. I do have the automatic update disabled, but have the widget on a homescreen. Can anyone else corroborate this?
-Rhys
Installed just fine on CM6 for me. It fixes the CM6 native sync issue, so no more hacked Facebook.apk needed! Oh, and it still isn't anywhere near as nice as the iPhone version. All of the notifications open in the browser, and you don't have as many options in the main menu. Even the BlackBerry version is better.
It is nice, I'm happy, the old FB was trash. Still a long way to go to catch the iPhone but its a good start.

Probably the security flaw fix they were talking about.
is this the one that has been on the market for the last two weeks or is it a update. I avoided the last one due to slow downs but want to see if this fixes it.
Nice catch - thanks!
does hulu work on it?
One thing that I notice was that Dolphin needed to updated. Now the flash loads on the pages automatically with out me pressing the button to load them. I know I could have set this up when installing or even the settings for Dolphin. Besides that, its running very smoothly. It seem to of fix a lag issue if anybody else has had that problem

Hulu will probably never work out of the box. It's up to hulu to support/license/whatever mobile viewing; and with hulu plus, it will probably never happen for free.

i don't really visit hulu but why doesn't it work? Just use opera mini or skyfire or something of the sort. If not change the useragent to display firefox in webkit. This way the desktop version of the site loads and it should work. But then again idk anything about hulu and why it doesnt work.

Neither of those work. Hulu doesn't allow mobile viewing and will check thoroughly either via the browser of through the version of the flash plugin you use.

Hmm. I wonder if we need Player V 10.1.95.1?
Adobe says the security vulnerability-in Android-is limited to v 10.1.92.10.
My EVO currently has V 10.1.72.7 (probably since the HTC/Sprint Froyo/Android 2.2 update). Apparently 10.1.72.7 doesn't have the vulnerability.
And idk the dif between 10.1.72.7 and 10.1.92.10 (or 10.1.95.1). Hate to fix what isn't broken (especially if i can't get the old one back).

I would say to just keep the one you have already. I didn't see any additional functionality from this new update atleast from my use. The file is way too big for something we already have that only takes 52.00kb. I also notice it slows down the page load times with fresh 3.2.0.0. Uninstalled...

Adguard. Been using it since the Note 4. Have a lifetime license. They have sales every now and then where it costs about 2 years' annual fees (or less). Totally worth it. App is constantly updated and safe to use.
I use the DNS66 route. You get stuck with a permanent notification, but worth it IMHO.

Most apps, including YouTube, have built in ad serving code. You will have to be rooted or use a VPN to usually block those type of ads. However, you can block YouTube ads if you view YouTube through your browser and not through the YouTube app.
