[Q] SuperOneClick - Legend General

Is there anyone who has tested superoneclick? Just wondering if it works at Legend.
If No one has tested it, I'll run a unroot and test it, when I get home today

Maybe of help
Hi,
Looking through TheUnlockr.com (Who has written about the program), a comment shows that it may work.
See the comment from s.bryan, it says about his HTC Legend on Bell, which has been unlocked running 2.1 update 1.
It says he encountered an error with almost 140mb free?
I believe this may be caused by the SU file, as going down the comment it says that it had already successfully been mounted as Read-Write memory, and then the program reverts back to Read-Only memory as the SU file couldn't be pushed onto the phone?
Hope this helps,
TS

As best I can tell, it does not work. I am running RUU 2.03.405, and it says that it rooted, but everything else fails. I installed TiB, but it does not acquire root privileges, even after a reboot. I am going to try one more time and then take a mulligan.

I guess it only gives you soft root (like with the Desire and the Wildfire)

It didn't even appear to do that. The only part of the process that succeeds is running rageagainstthecage, which I don't think is enough for even soft root.

Ty for your answers, i guess il just skip trying SuperOneClick then..
I was thinking, it may work as soft root, after using downgrade guide from LAD forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=725430

TiB does need busybox, try the "Problem?" after the said "softroot"?

I did, and it didn't work.

I tried it on my Mytouch Slide and it did not work. Everything in superoneclick completed OK, but after my phone restarts, there is no root access icon in the app drawer. I also downloaded an app from the market that requires root and it didn't recognize my phone as being rooted.

I'm going to try it now, I was trying it but realised I didn't have .net 2.0+ installed... that's how lean my PC is! I haven't installed anything that requires .net and I had not even thought about installing or checking it before because I assumed it was on lol
Will report back in a few minutes, got 10 seconds before .net 2.0 is downloaded...
EDIT: the link from theunlockr is for 32BIT .net 2.0... now I have to download .net 64BIT doh!

Hope you'll make it.....

If that doesn't work try rebooting the phone.
If that doesn't fix it, Google it. I think that's the fix though.

New method to Root?

Just wondering if there will be a new method of rooting. Like the one click method over at android central which does not work since the DIO1 update. All the other methods require all kinds of command prompt.
Swyped via Fascinate.
the one click root method that has been there since the beginning is easy all you do is download the file unzip it and click start root. cant get much easier then that
Yeah, I can confirm that one click root still works for me on the DIO1 update.
If for some reason once click root isn't working on your PC, just do the manual adb method, its really the same thing.
Super one click root works for almost everything, including the fascinate

One click root didn't work for me, I could write a new one for you, but honestly the manual adb method is pretty easy you just copy and paste the commands.
I always get the same device not found for me.

If rooting via manual method is too complicated for you perhaps you shouldn't be rooting your phone. No offense but we have had a lot of people not knowing what they're doing and soft bricking their phones. They can't fix it because they don't know what they did.

works with dI01
I followed these instructions here to the dot:
h ttp://forum.androidcentral.com/fascinate-roms-hacks/33899-how-root.html
I got my phone just over a week ago, came with DI01 on it..
It took me three tries using the one click method, as I was getting device not found errors.. The time it worked, I had just rebooted PC and phone
When your phone restarts be sure to unlock it as fast as you can.. that seemed to help mine as well.
You can just manually do a adb install same as one click
Also make sure you have drivers installed

[Q] Bad Rootedupdate? <Solved>

Hi all,
I've been trying to root my legend again (had to unroot it after the first time because I got stuck in a boot loop..)
But now I get stuck at the last step; flashing rootedupdate.zip
Let me first say that everything upto running step2-windows.bat went well, except for step2-windows.bat being unable to write rootedupdate.zip to my sdcard (I/O error).
So I manually copied it to the sd-card to be able to flash it.
However, it now gives me an error, saying
"E: Can't open /sdcard/rootedupdate.zip (bad)"
Does anyone recognize this or know what might cause this? I've tried different rootedupdate.zips, from different locations, but keep getting the same error.
Try download any other rooted rom.. just flash the other rom instead..

Where to find another rooted rom then?
I've already tried different rootedupdate.zip files, since that's the rooted rom always used in guides.
Just flash CM or B or any other from dev forum.

Code:

- exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2) -
Pushing update file to device sdcard - this may take a few minutes...
- exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2) -
To give some more details;
- HBOOT 1.01
- Android 1.31 is running
- Goldcard succesfully created (even re-did this to be sure)
- Step 1 completed succesfully (as far as I can see)
Does anyone know how to solve this?

Major problems with downgrading GB ROM

I am trying to downgrade from stock GB 2.3.3 ROM.
My SD card has now disappeared when i tried to put the PD98img.zip file on it.
When i tried to change from USB charging to disk drive there isn't any option anymore for disk drive.
However the SD drive and it's contents is shown in Astro file manager, very strange
I did this as per instructions:
1. Download Gingerbreak, and install it. Then tap root button.
2. You might get force close errors, just click the force close button and let Gingerbreak do it's job
3. Gingerbreak will, in the end, usually say that something went wrong. Just leave it open in your phone, and connect your phone to a PC. Charge only, USB Debugging enabled!
4. Open up a cmd and go to Downgrade folder, execute commands: (after command "su", allow SuperUser in phone)
adb push misc_version /data/local/tmp
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/misc_version
adb shell
su
If you got "#" in the result, you have temporary root! Proceed with commands:
Code:
cd /data/local/tmp
./misc_version -s 1.31.405.6
Next step is to put the PD98img.zip file on SD card so i tried to change the USB connection but the option is gone to connect to the SD.
Also when i go to Settings my SD card is not available, the system can not see any SD and i can't mount it either, it's gone.
What should i do now?
put the SD into ur pc, simples
Take out the sd card and reinsert it.
Then put the PD file on the SD card before beginning the process.
I rebooted it now and now i can choose USB disk drive.
What is the cause this was happening in the first place? somehow Gingerbreak did something.
I think it was trying to remove things whilst still mid adb shell.
[EDIT] Said something that wasn't quite right so removed, thanks for the heads up jkoljo.
Sent using witchcraft via XDA Developers Premium App.
That is incorrect, gingerbreak also works without S-OFF, like in the downgrade guide. The difference is, with S-OFF you get permanent root, and without it only temporary, which is enough for downgrading.

what, with gingerbread or downgrading.... in my case, both.
gingerbreak will say its attempting, let it go into standby, then go back to using the phone, gingerbreak will say there's an error, reboot the phone..... you're rooted.
If you want to go downgrade, just use the RUU, it overides everything (something that the recovery tool isnt able to do when using the p98img.zip)
Downgrading and rooting with simple steps and no code entry, Made it, and it works for the Telus DHD and Inspire 4G
(Our Telus DHD's are the exact hardware twin of the Inspire 4G; unlike the Euro/Asian DHD's which have different radio controllers)
My trouble is getting su to work. Gingerbreak gets to the error message and when I "adb shell " to the phone it will not accept su. (Permission denied)
What ruu are you referring to? I tried 1.32 and 1.84, and they both fail.
I attempted to use the ruu downloaded from the link in the previous post and it failed saying bootloader version error.
Any thoughts?
success!!!
Had an old version of superuser installed from the telus dhd permanent root files that I previously downloaded. Uninstalled superuser and downloaded from market.
Also had phone unplugged from pc while running gingerbreak. previously left it plugged in through whole procedure.
Hope this helps someone else.

UMS Mounter

Hi all,
First thread here .
So, on with it. I've been a member on this forum for quite some time, but never felt like posting or anything as I didn't have anything interesting to share and all the questions I might've got at some point got already answered...
Anyway, about a year a go I bought a Samsung Galaxy S III. Cute little 'monster', powerful and all... and I got hit by MTP. I'm a Linux user, so getting MTP to work was a huge pain. So I started reading, digging, found out that some guys already implemented some scripts for mounting the external SD as UMS... the problem was that they didn't work on my end.
So I developed my own little app. Nothin' fancy, two buttons to switch from MTP to UMS and back.
In the meanwhile, I changed my phone to a Note 2 LTE and did some more tweaking on my app and now I'm kinda ready to share it with you guys:laugh:.
You need to have a rooted phone equipped with busybox (my app will prompt warnings telling you you're not rooted or you don't have busybox, but I thought it was nice to tell you here the requirements).
One small thing, besides the usual "I'm not responsible to any damages brought to your phone and all": after transferring to / from your SD card, please use the eject command (or the safety remove feature on Windows) to unbind the card from your operating system before changing back to UMS. That way you ensure no harm is brought to you SD card or to the data on it.
All that being said, you can download the app from here: devver.ro/ums-mounter/ (I don't have enough posts to give an external link, so you'll have to enter the text manually in your browser). The text on that page is written both in Romanian (my native language) and English so there shouldn't be any problems .
This app should work on every device that has an SD card and runs Android 4.3+. Oh yeah, there might be some glitches on devices with Samsung's official releases (bummer, I know), but that's related to some screw-ups on their end, 'cause they're random from ROM to ROM.
Anyway, hope you'll like it (if you test it). If you have and problems, comment here and attach a logcat and I'll see if I'm smart enough to help you.
== 2014-06-10 ==
Version 1.1
Changes:
- please uninstall the previous version, as I've changed the signature on the file ;
- added a small sanity check which will force you to unplug your phone from the computer before switching between modes (hopefully this will also force you to safely remove the external sd card );
- fixed (i hope at least) the situation where the card is not mounted as usb on Touchwizz related ROMs;
As usual, the app can be downloaded from devver.ro/ums-mounter. Thanks again for testing .

@erljayp: that's one ROM which is based on a stock ROM and, as I mentioned in my OP, there might be glitches woth 'em.
I'll setup my phone into dual booting so that's gonna be a bit easier to test these ROMs and hopefully sort them out.

I've used play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox to install busybox. Basically, after you install the app from the play store, you need to open it in order for it to actually download and install the busybox binaries. If you just downloaded the app from play store but didn't actually open it, that may be the problem

Now working in DN3 V5+, but I have fluctuating transfer rates. What is the average transfer rate you have?
Thank you.
@erljayp: i get about a maximum of 2 MB/s transferring a file bigger than 50-100 MB, which I find quite satisfying. Also, if I'm not mistaking, the transfer rates are influences by a lot of factors: the card's class, if you're transferring a lot of small files (mp3's, for example) etc.
Anyway, glad that sorted your problem. Like I said before, my app should now work not only on the DN3, but on all ROMs (CM11 based, AOSP, AOKP, ROM's based on the stock Samsung release). If you find a ROM that won't work, Iemme know and I'll see what's to be done about it .

You don't have to be connected to the computer. Try and run the following in the terminal emulator:
- su (if you didn't);
- mount > /sdcard/mount.log
And after that, on your internal storage you shall find a file called mount.log. Give me the contents of that file, please.

Perhaps i didn't express myself well enough, sorry...
1). su (for gaining root access, no matter if you're doing this from the terminal emulator or from your pc);
2). mount > /sdcard/mount.log
Again, sorry for the confusion.
