[Q] ROMS that look like default, but are android-compatible - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I want android on my HD2. But, all those compatible ROMs have the start button at the bottom, which to me is an eyesore. Add the rounded glass buttons, maybe it can make me blind . I want a ROM that looks exactly like the shipped Leo interface (the 1 that HTC developed for us), but is android capable. Also, I hate those custom button icons that come with certain roms (to name 1, Miri). Any suggestions? Preferably, those with 576mb fix would be great

Just don't update your ROM. Flash HSPL so you can flash a later radio (I'd STRONGLY recommend 2.15.50) and then run Android.

I recommend Dutty's COM2 branch. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=610634

[6.5 build Q] start button to bottom tool bar, how?

I've noticed in a few different threads, pictures of the bottom tool with the start menu and the ok/x button...
here is an ROM thread with an example of this orientation
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=517490
The cook of that ROM said its included in the newest 6.5 builds..
I'm somewhat of a die hard EngergyRom fan and since this feature is not included in his latest roms, I'd love to find a way to add this..
I've searched all over and cannot find anyway to change the bottom toolbar to this config..the closed i can find is this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=428317
which is just not the same...
Does anyone know how to change to this configuration or have a cab that will do this?
Thanks in advance..any help is greatly appreciated!
That is a feature in the newest 6.5 sys. Only way I know to get it would be to flash a rom with sys 23022 or higher. The newest sys is 23041, the best so far in my opinion. Energyrom is still on 23016 i believe.
Yeah
You have to wait for new NRG releases... this feature is present in new WM6.5 builds, not in NRG 23016 and a cab install is not possible.
yeah, i'm waiting for a stable newer 6.5 rom. i'm sticking with mighty6 until i see something that isn't apparently plagued with bugs.

If any of you are cdma, i suggest Demolition rom. Ive been using it for a bit and its pretty stable.
i'm on cdma.. i think i'm just gonna wait for the next build, i'm looking for something thats closer to mighty's style. i would cook my own, but i'm just too lazy.
oo ok i see...
thanks for the quick replies everyone!
I suppose i'll stop searching and start patiently waiting
I have a rom with 23034 posted up. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=517490
Works pretty well as I have been using it for a few days. 23037 was buggy and 23041 screws up the volume controls and HTC Volume is incompatible... so I'm waiting for another release before building another rom.

has anyone tried this yet

Its "home" is a thread about it here on XDA, in the HD2 forum:
Co0kie's Home Tab.
I've been using previous versions for a couple of months and luv it...this latest one is a huge feature-upgrade -- really great. I won't run my phone without it now.
But, yes, you have to be running Sense 2.5. I've experienced no downside, only benefit, using this.

I've been tempted to flash my ROM, but it really doesn't make any difference. I like SPB Mobile Shell so much that I just don't think I'd like any Sense version. But the main reason I WOULD consider flashing is to get that Cookie version with 2.5. It is as close as it comes to Mobile Shell.
The other reason I don't flash is that everything on my phone is working, and I think that a stock ROM is more likely to be stable than a cooked ROM. If I have any problems I may well change my mind.

I have found that most of the cooked ROMs with Sense 2.5 are actually more stable than stock ROMs. Doring a brief lapse in judgement I decided to flash the updated stock T-Mobile ROM and the speed and unstability almost made me want to smash my phone with a tack hammer. Then I remembered there was a saving grace- the awesome cooked ROMs here. The best advice is to try one...if you end up not liking it you can always go back to stock.

I too flashed the (US) Tmobile ROM updated of Jan 2010. At first it was too slow, but after a lot of tweaking it is now fast and very stable. Actually I have had the same experience with all the HTC devices I've owned. I had a Magician that I flashed, a P3470 stock HTC, and now my TP 2 T-Mobile. In each case I had to massage the unit until it was just right, and in each case it was faster and more stable after about 3-4 weeks. I think that part of it was my tweaks, and part was my learning how the ROM operates.
I would recommend that anyone flashing a ROM consider keeping it for at least a couple of weeks before giving up on it.

You need to go to the settings for the today screen and turn off all the plug-ins. One of them will be named sense. There is no point in having both Sense and mobile shell.
When running sense, you can tell the version by the home screen. If there are shortcuts under the weather icon, then you have 2.5; otherwise it is 2.1.
If you really want your TP2 to rock, I recommend Vostradamus add ons:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=574264
and there is a really cool Mobile Shell theme that looks and functions like the upcoming Windows 7 for Mobile:

New to Tilt 2 - Want Co0kie's Home Tab
Hi guys,
I'm new to the Tilt 2, but not new to the forum. Recently, I had changed to the HTC PURE (courtesy of AT&T's free upgrade), but I couldn't get the Bluetooth to initiate calls from my car. After 2 weeks of struggling with stock and cooked ROMs, different radios and a plethora of other flashes, I finally went to my final option. (Hyundai told me that the Tilt phone was compatible with their Bluetooth.) I took a chance and after much pleading and negotiating, I was able to get a Tilt 2 for no charge in exchange for my new PURE. Right out of the box, it works perfectly with my Hyundai Genesis Coupe. But now, my next dilemna is what to do about the apps and functions on the phone. I have been a loyal follower of TAEL and NRG's ROMs. NRG recently built-in the Co0kie's Home Tab into his latest ROMs. I'm worried that if I flash a new cooked ROM, then the Bluetooth may no longer work. However, if I can at least get the Co0kie's Home Tab, I might be able to live with it all. However, I have noticed that the Co0kie's Home Tab works with Sense 2.5. I don't think that my out of the box Tilt 2 has that. Can anyone assist me in determining what I do and don't have access to? Also, if anyone else has had the Hyundai problem, I would be grateful to hear how they dealt with it.
Maraming salamat,
Miguel

One of the first ROMs ever made for the HTC LEO.
Tried flashing it on a retail HD2, but didn't work.. stopped at 8% (It's SPL or Radio).
I tried re-packing it (Splash + OS) but havn't tried it yet.

For example... Twitter tab wasn't included in the begining. At end we can use twitter now.

23014 is still with startmenu on top like com2 (startmenu in softkeybar started with 23018 afaik).
they are slowly adjusting everything inside the leo-roms towards 6.5.X-compatibility (for example manila 6.5.X position is fixed now).
6.5.X is meant for capacitive wm devices like the hd2....
i bet htc is releasing a 6.5.X rom in the near future (i believe 6.5.5 is dedicated to hd2 and similar high-end-phones).

The short answer is "no".
There is no stock ROM for the HD2 that runs WM6.5.X. If you want to have this OS on your phone you will have no choice to run one of the many custom ROMS or build your own. At least for now..
Hmm, thanks for the fast answer
I hope the stock version will be available soon, or will it?
Rather sad that we haven't got one yet.
It has been out since Oct 09.
I looked through 3-4 pages here, but most of the cookers have changed most of the icons added and removed stuff. I don't link this kind of things, so I'm staying with 6.5 :/
I hope 6.5.x STOCK come out for Leo soon!

Hello dude!
You like the "stock ROM philosopy" right?!
So take a look on Artemis Project, from sir Sternas: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=612580
In my opinion is the most close to Stock ROMS for now and ever!
The roms uses the newest packages from HTC and latest WindowsMobile builds.
And the best of all, is fast and stable!
Sir Sternas does not change icons or includes modifications on his work, he let the user chose it!
Cheers!

if you want a truly complete stock look
Digao is correct, Artemis is the more close to stock.
Also the softkey bar is the STOCK 6.5.X.
If you want nicer buttons or icons, you can always add them.
They are simple cabs (btw Artemis includes many themes to choose for the buttons).
John, NRG makes great ROMs but faaaaaaaaaaaaaar from stock philosophy.
It is not what Tunay asked.

Why don't you want to run one of the cooked roms? There are so many available I can't see at least one catering for your taste.
You will never see 6.5.x on the Leo in an official capacity.
With respect to all ROM chefs, I don't use Sense and therefore there is no need to have it even loaded. Pure WM and nothing extra.
Someone mentioned that there is the 6.5 stock, I couldn't find it, anyone with any reference to it?
Thank you

That makes no sense (excuse the pun) as there are numerous cooked roms without Sense included to free up extra memory. There are no stock Leo roms that can say the same to my knowledge - they all include it.

I dont know what Roms you have available for your device but it may be worth adding a section with what Roms (stock or custom) work with Android and what ones arent working correctly. While Android is emulated, there are still some WinMo drivers that affect the operation of your Android port and certain Roms may not work.
It may be worth trying to flash a different Rom and then try Android again.

I currently use:
ROM-Version (Vodafone)Switzerland German: 1.41.166.1, (10904) Radio:0.63.05.41
the next one I will try is:
[ROM][25.06.2011][WWE-ITA-FRA-ELL-GER-RUS-SPA-NLD-DAN] ver 3.10 nsourm -build 29022
ver.5 - RUU_Signed_????no_sense_clean.nbh is without sense and cookies home tab and without extra apps.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=801481
The nsourm rom is highly recommended and very stable (version 3.1) I also run this base WM6.5 ROM too (without sense and without cookies home tab). It seems to be quite compatible with the Android port as it mostly follows stock rom philosophy.
The other optional cab that has been installed is the stock icons.cab located here as without it, my SPB shell doesn't show all the icons properly. I have no problems with the Android Loader 1.0 dual boot application (set to autoboot after 10 seconds). I'd first flash the stock ROM then this one if wanting to change from another custom ROM.
you tried over nsourm 3.1 and Android works well, but have you tried over your stock ROM? and have you noticed any difference? such as. that something works better, or that something is not working at all?
I have not tried Android with my stock ROM and don't want to go back to stock ROM either as I still need to use WM6.5 from time to time - because there is no Garmin for Android! Stock ROM used to crash often whereas with nsourm 3.1 it is definitely much more stable given it incorporates more recent builds. I would assume that given nsourm is close to stock ROM philosophy (but with much more recent builds) that there would not be much difference to anything that ran in Android. Maybe someone has already tested for the differences.. and can let us know the results!
