So a month or so back i rooted my evo with 2.2 all went well. I tried to do the recent OTA update copied it to the root directory rebooted to hboot went to recovery and preceded to load the update. It updated and rebooted as normal. When it rebooted I got the screen with if i remember correctly a yellowish green arrow pointing down on it, well i waited and waited and it stayed on that screen so i figured something got hosed up so i pulled the battery. Now all i get is the white evo 4g screen. I can get in to hboot but if i try to go to recovery again it reboots and just gets stuck at the same white evo 4g screen.
Am I hosed?
Have you tried a PC36IMG zip and flasht the latest ota that way. I saw one posted in dev section

You pulled the battery in the middle of the install so it won't boot up. Load the PC36IMG (stock) or w/e it's called onto your SD card, boot into HBoot and let it install

So I have Unrevoked3, and want to update OTA, I don't need root anymore.
However, when I update it goes to start the update, then I get a yellow triangle with an exclamation point and an android, it just sits there til I pull the battery.
I want to be sure this is just an issue with needing to unroot, and not something else.
If its just an unrooting issue, how do I unroot from Unrevoked3? All the unrooting topics I've found were for toast or simpleroot.

Btw, the RA is Clockwork recovery.

Pretty sure all you need to do is put the update on your SD card, flash it, and then you're done. You'll lose root, but it should work that way. YMMV and all that.
I'll try it when I get home, hopefully it'll work.

any word? I too am having the yellow triangle displayed on my screen when trying to install the OTA after doing Unrevoked 3
Nevermind, Im downloading now.
Im also downloading the 1.47 RUU incase I need to start from scratch, which Ive heard works with revoke.. Im just not sure how to reflash the stock recovery image and get rid of Clockwork Mod and Unrevoked.
I ran flash sdcard:update.zip and so far its updating with no issues, will wait for boot up to see if it took.
I think using the ruu is the only way to reset the recovery, anyway thats what I did and d/ling the OTA now.
Worked fine. Booted up took a bit, but Im used to that with all updates, Im now running Android 2.2
As a side, is the FroYo update supposed to wipe apps/settings? Mine werent.
well mine seemed to work, I didn't care about reseting so my process went like this..
completely stock+unrevoked3 root+clockworkmod
RUU_Supersonic_1.47.651.1_Radio_2.05.00.06.10_release_CL195459.exe
OTA d/l and installed over 1.47
ota installed successfully
factory defaulted with 2.2 in place
Im running 2.2, but none of my settings were reset and all my apps are still there.
Does running this : RUU_Supersonic_1.47.651.1_Radio_2.05.00.06.10_rele ase_CL195459.exe erase all of the phone's previous memory?

Yes.
It does not erase your sd card tho.
So unrevoked 3 users can't use the Froyo OTA update?
Hello. My EVO is updated with all the new firmware and such as I just got it. I have my EVO rooted using the unrevoked method. The PC36IMG is the only thing I can flash to. When I remove the PC36IMG from my sd card and try to flash another ROM I get errors. When I put the PC36IMG back on the card it will find that image and load it and it goes back to sprint lovers. What do I have to do to flash another ROM?
It would help if you said what kind of errors you got.
Did you do a nandroid backup before you tried to flash? If you can't, you didn't root correctly or somehow broke your root.
The bootloader will always look for PC36IMG because it's the default recovery image name. Remove it and it will just tell you it's missing, at which point you flash a different ROM in the recovery menu (go to install zip from SD card).
Obviously you can flash to sprint lovers so I guess you got it rooted ok at some point.
Have you tried doing a full data/cache wipe before flashing to the new rom?
I cannot remember what errors I got at the time. I finally got my phone back to sprint lovers. Everytime I try to do a backup it will not do it, it will just reboot and loop on the white Sprint evo screen. I've tried to flash fresh and others and I get errors. I put the PC3IMG back on and it will find it, and load sprint lovers back on. I don't know what else to do at this point except just stay where I am at and hope nothing goes wrong.

Hi everyone,
I have a friend who owns a mytouch 4g and he did root the device using instructions on the forum, visionary and then terminal emulator...
Everything was working great.
Then he did something stupid which is follow a youtube video on how to overclock but he ignored the fact that this procedure required running a custom rom on your phone.
This is the youtube link he followed
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amEwtRSH5ZQ
Now when attempting to turn his phone on it shows Mytouch 4G splash screen then reboots and it keeps doing the same thing over and over
I have a Samsung Vibrant and if something goes wrong I can always use Odin and place the phone in Download mode to bring it back to stock...
Is there such a procedure for the mytouch 4g and can someone provide step by step or point me in the right direction please or is there any other way to get this phone to boot up normally, or revert back to stock?!
I tried searching the forum but it seems to me that everything required the phone being able to boot up normally...
Thank you.
Have you tried taking the battery out for 30 seconds, i have a htc hd2 and how i get back to factory settings on my phone i turn the phone off and it comes back to wnd 2.6. I hope this helps
Isn't hd2 windows mobile?!

Load the PD15IMG on the sdacard and boot into HBoot for a 100% stock restore. Links can be found in the development section. Or flash a new ROM that will replace the kernel. Did he do a nandroid backup?

Thank you! I am doing it as I type this. Watching the progress bar now, at about 1/2 blue....
Hopefully it will work.
Thanks again!

After it was done it asked if I want to run the update, didn't know what to select so I hit yes, and it seemed to do the same thing all over again but this time after the initial progress bar it actually said updating unzipping and whatever not in like 7 or 8 different steps and then it said press power to reboot.
Did this step revert to stock recovery or is the cwm recovery still intact somewhere?! How would I verify?!

Yup it certainly will. The pd15img file is auto extracting once u load ur bootloader...loading everything by default...so cwm will be gone on ur phone..

Thank you guys, everything is up and running again . It feels good to have a working device again .
I got the perm root to go through, however nothing I did would push the recovery over, I am trying to run the stock RUU and even that's not working correctly. The first time I tried, it went to boot loader and then timed out. Same thing was happening when I was trying to push the recovery over. It's like when the device goes into bootloader, it's not longer recognized by my computer. Trying to reset the device now, and it looks like it just froze......So it won't even reset...when going through the power+vol down menu to reset it...
What error does the RUU give you..and do you have all the drivers installed
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App
Yes, I got the ADB to go through just fine, I got the perm root to run through, the device is recognized up until it goes to the fastboot in the bootloader, I have all the files, etc. The phone will not hard reset, it just stays frozen on the HTC black screen. It won't reboot into the bootloader when I try to run the stock RUU either, I am taking it back to exchange it today.
You can push the recovery and all that through terminal or adb..you don't have to fastboot..I had problems with fastboot if you want to try that
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App
Sound to me like bad drivers for fast boot. Try installing them and reinstalling them

Can you point me to the instructions to doing this? I read the ones in the root guide, however I didn't really understand it.
As for the fastboot drivers - do I need to do that from my PC or the device?
When I try to run the RUU, it reboots to the boot loader, but instead of going to the bootloader, it just goes to the black HTC screen and stays there. Any suggestions?
I did everything w/ terminal, there is a good post in the perma root thread around Feb 20th give or take a day on flashing recovery w/ Rom manager, also newkidd posted a one zip ruu thread,if all else fails u could give the irc a shoot lot of smart guys usually willing to help, good luck brother

When running the RUU and it reboots to bootloader/fastboot it will be a black screen for a few while it initializes , this is normal, don’t worry about it unless the RUU itself errors out just let it run. Mine took almost 4 minutes before it started the format and reload.

Unfortunately, it was erroring out, however, I managed to get the recovery loaded. Thanks for all your help.
I have an Epic myself and the security of this new HTC phone threw me for a loop. Anyway , I was trying to put CM7 on his phone , starting from stock. I managed to get CWM 3.0.0.5 on it and then flashed the CM7 from here. Now it is stuck on the white Tmobile screen , Ive let it sit therefor an hour and nothing. But the real problem is that I cant find a way to restore to stock and start over. With the Epic we use a windows program called ODIN in case something like this happens. Ive tried using ADB but the phone is showing offline so I cant push any commands to it. Is there an app like ODIN that will let me factory reset this phone and try this again? Thanks

Sounds like you rooted and flashed CM7 onto it without having s-off. If I'm not mistaking there is another thread similar to this one somewhere. Also you need cclockwork 3.0.0.6 to flash back and fourth from stock and other roms.
you need pd15img.zip on your SD
pd15img.zip reboot into hboot with that file and the part7-0000000000.bin file on your sd and it will load and ask you to push volume up to confirm then wait, it will restore the phone i know i did it, took me 3 damn days to figure out you need that part7.bin file on your sd with that pd15img.zip file...or its a no go, trust me this WILL def work...its a life saver, i did the same thing you did...had clockwork and no s=off...now i successfully restored it and sent it back to tmobile because before i solved it i panic and called for a replacement, told em it wont turn on, they sent the new one, and about 20 mins ago i flashed cm7 after folling this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=858996 to turn s=off...works great good luck
Where do i get the part7 file and the other one? Thank you

It was creates with you permanent rooted it.. should be on your SD card. In the rooting instructions it tells you to keep that file around.

Just make sure that u dnt keep tryin to flash the rom cause u gonna end up gettin the cant mount cache & data errors, which once that happens nothin can b done with the mt4g.. So if u used the gfree method to root the phone u should have the part7-xxxxxxxx.bin file, stick that to the root of the sd card & put the pd15 file to the root of the sd card, powerdwn or battery pull, reboot into recovery & let the phne do its thing..
I don't think he has that part7-xx......bin file for his mt4g phone since he did not run gfree patch. You can't do stock nandroid restore also because that requires CWM 2.5.1.4 but you can always give it a shot.
Good luck with your boss, hope you don't get fired.

I didn't use the gfree method for getting perm root.
So i never got that part7 file that you speak of....
I have found them online to download but even using someone elses i still doesnt load the .zip from hboot :{
I downloaded the glacier file , like 350 MB or something , renamed it to PD15IMG.ZIP (had to leave the .zip out because windows). Then I found the part7.bin file from another thread. Put both on sd card. Vol down and power, it found the pd15img file and started restoring the image. 15 minutes later the phone boots up just like brand new! Thank you to everybody who helped with this! Sometimes I dont know what i'd do without this place!
P.s.- he still wants gingerbread any suggestions as to best rom?
Thanks again everyone

I think you made a fine choice with CM7. Just make sure you are rooted and have flashed the latest clockworkmod through ROM manager (3.0.2.4 I believe) and it should flash without issue.
