Until about a month ago, I did not know much about Android.
I was using the stock TMobile ROM and Radio on my Hd2, with only the regular tweaks and add-ons that we all get. Ex: LeoCPU, Cookie Add-on, and some registry improvements and programs.
I started reading about the topic of ROM Flashing, Hard SPL, New Radio, Android, and that is how I got started.
Here are some test I did on my HD2.
Using the Energy ROM from Sept 29, 2010, Leo_21680 and the phireMOD_SkinnyEVO V1.3.
With this combination, it is amazing at the results I got from the HD2.
The Windows ROM is amazing fast, stable and very good looking.
The Android Port is just as good looking, and also stable and lighting fast as you can see by the results.
Who would have thought that the HD2 would achieve this speeds and performance on 3G Network.
From what I have been reading, this results are better than some Android Devices on 4G that run Android as their native OS.
Thank you XDA Developers and Members for making the HD2 such an enjoyable Device to own.

Here are some of the Windows Mobile Energy ROM shoots.
I wish my download speed was that fast! mine is usually about 1400KBps and upload is usually about 1700KBps. T-Mobile - Utah - USA.

this is definitely a mistake.
all speedtests are inaccurate.. you can only mesure it by downloading a large file from a server that has a faster connection than you have. Also the server has to be on the same network WLAN or on a fast (better than yours) network when using 3g because I think this caused the mistake

I did more than speed tests on those screens.
But as long as everyone uses the same test, at least you can compare how one device rates againts another.
That is also the reason I tested on 3 different types of networks.
All of the tests seem to be very close to each other. At least that helps to see that the Device is true and consistant.
At any rate, the tests show that the HD2 is a very quick and snappy Device .
Tmobile Network and HD2 is awesome combination. And the Windows ROM and the Type of Android Port helps a little too.
Here are the latest test I did a little while ago.
I updated to the new version of my Android ROM a few days ago and did not had time to test again.
It looks like HD2 keeps getting faster with each update .

I currently have an unlocked Touch Diamond on AT&T that I tether to my laptop and use very often for an internet connection since I live in an area where I cannot get anything other than dial-up over a line. I've seen that the international Hero has software from HTC for tethering in Windows, but I'm thinking that this is probably not the case with the branded phones here in the US, which is unfortunate since I'm no longer under contract and Verizon has better coverage in my hometown and surrounding area. Do people know of any tethering possibilities with the Eris?

Wow, it's not that I don't believe you, but this does almost seem to good and simple to be true. Are there a couple others with experience with this program that might be able to advise of potential pitfalls, or is this really as perfect for what I need as it looks?

Yes, I found PDAnet after hours of searching for a tethering solution and tried it. Works like a champ. I have had no issues to date using it. It also let me put my iPhone loving friend in his place.
So yeah - it's been a while since I've been in here... Been busy as all hell!

Theres certainly nothing wrong with a Hermes. I'm still using mine every day with R13.5 of my ROM. I still can't pick any major issues with it!
What is the latest ROM for Hermes?
Is CRC 13.5 WM6.1 latest?
Any WM 6.5 ROMs for Hermes? ......
I gotta agree, I had 3 Hermes (Dopod 838pro). 2 are still going strong though the keyboard is fading on one - some keys are hard to press. 1 got stolen!

Define latest?
13.5 is the latest release of MY ROM.
WM6.5 is pretty slow on the Hermes. You can only stretch old hardware so far....
Im usually on wifi at home so I didnt notice how slow my speeds were. I did a test today while I was running errands and every time got a REALLY slow speed. I have the latest radio and am running cm7 nightlies. Can anyone help me figure out why things are so slow?

Did you try one of the other three?
just because your on the "highest number" one doesn't mean it's going to work the best. i'd try out the other two. The other thing to consider is if you've gone over your 5Gb data limit they will throttle you.

I will give the other two a try right now.
I am connected to wifi most the time so I HIGHLY doubt I went over my usage, I have once a few months ago when I didnt have home internet and it was WAY slower than the posted speeds. They throttle you down to like 3-4kbps. I did notice my phone was set to only operate on 2g networks but I disabled that and its still getting the same speeds.
Since it was set to 2g networks only why am I still able to see a H icon?
EDIT: Just tried all of the radios and they all give roughly the same speeds.
ANOTHER EDIT: Im now on stock radio with Royal Ginger 2.1. Speeds are: Ping:66ms Down:57kbps Up:170kbps
Your data speeds have so many variables. The biggest one I can think of would be your location. If you are in a basement, you can't expect to get good speeds on your data. I've noticed that my data speeds are fairly slow after an immediate flash. Could just be coincidence, but I'd recommend looking into all the variables.
At my house, I live in the basement. I get 1.3 megs tops down there for download speed. Out where I attend school, I get 2.7, and at times, I've gotten 4mbs. It's not so much a "flash, test for 5 minutes, flash different radio" process. Definitely requires patience.
i have this same problem! please help!
Is there a way to figure out which radio is best to use in your location? Like a US-east radio?
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
With enough user feedback, this thread may become that but a I think the only way right now is by trying them, give each radio about a week unless there is some major performance issue, doing a few speed tests and deciding which worked the best. Although a superthread about radio performance by region is a great idea, it would just take time and a lot of feedback and managing the feedback to work well.

thats what i get using the 36p in San Diego, California
Be careful with AT&T 36/37 outside of North America. It may have poor WiFi in Europe. N_100 European is seems to me more balanced.
Most problems with battery loss is due to unnecessary Alarm Wake-ups and Networks Locations (especially in my case).
When I disable Network Locations my battery lasts maybe as twice as longer.
All the above is based solely on my own experience for two days of "radio madness".
So AT&T Atrix's can flash any radio?
Hi guys,
First sorry if I ask a pretty noob question here, i just want solution to my problem.
So, I use 3 (three) as one of available carriers in my country. It really annoys me that sometimes the signal is unstable, and the signal goes very bad while i am in my room. Fyi, I live in the biggest city in Indonesia. Is this a common issue in any of your country? Are there any solutions for my N4 to optimize the signals?
Here is some screenshots of my network speed (using speedtest.net)

The only solution I've heard of is to try and flash a different radio version:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2087227
Some people report that different radio version give different results, so it might be worth a try - I'm actually considering this myself, since I also have a weak signal when inside at home.

Problem is solved, thanks once again mate!
Now my 2G + 3G signals are much much better than before, after I flashed .54. With .48 I usually have 2G gray bars in my room, now it's always blue, even if I use 3G. Solved right?
Thanks!
