Radios by region - Atrix 4G General

Is there a way to figure out which radio is best to use in your location? Like a US-east radio?
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium

With enough user feedback, this thread may become that but a I think the only way right now is by trying them, give each radio about a week unless there is some major performance issue, doing a few speed tests and deciding which worked the best. Although a superthread about radio performance by region is a great idea, it would just take time and a lot of feedback and managing the feedback to work well.

mmm that would be nice to know , i have an atrix 4g from att using it right know at mexico , and is working pretty good with my actual carrier (movistar)
there is something that drive me nuts ... what baseband has the latam version of the atrix , i mean right know i have 01.77.37p baseband i used to have 01.77.30p with 2.3.4 ,and it works great any missed calls o data problems ( at last lol )

01.77.36P had been working really well here (U.S. - southern California) since I flashed from 01.77.30P.

yes because only att sells the atrix 4g in the US. they will most likely work on tmobile just flash different ones til you get the best results. the radio thread has ones for other countries as well check it out. Atrix RADIOS

thats what i get using the 36p in San Diego, California

Be careful with AT&T 36/37 outside of North America. It may have poor WiFi in Europe. N_100 European is seems to me more balanced.
Most problems with battery loss is due to unnecessary Alarm Wake-ups and Networks Locations (especially in my case).
When I disable Network Locations my battery lasts maybe as twice as longer.
All the above is based solely on my own experience for two days of "radio madness".

So AT&T Atrix's can flash any radio?

Tethering Droid Eris

I currently have an unlocked Touch Diamond on AT&T that I tether to my laptop and use very often for an internet connection since I live in an area where I cannot get anything other than dial-up over a line. I've seen that the international Hero has software from HTC for tethering in Windows, but I'm thinking that this is probably not the case with the branded phones here in the US, which is unfortunate since I'm no longer under contract and Verizon has better coverage in my hometown and surrounding area. Do people know of any tethering possibilities with the Eris?

Wow, it's not that I don't believe you, but this does almost seem to good and simple to be true. Are there a couple others with experience with this program that might be able to advise of potential pitfalls, or is this really as perfect for what I need as it looks?

Yes, I found PDAnet after hours of searching for a tethering solution and tried it. Works like a champ. I have had no issues to date using it. It also let me put my iPhone loving friend in his place.

Finally! A smart phone that does everything I ask of it!

Probably a stoopid thread, but I can honestly say that this thing rocks!
Every smarty phone I've had to date had multiple things that made me go ARGGGGGHH.
my SIII has done everything I've asked of it. Bluetooth, data reception, wifi, phone reception etc has all been spot on.
Usually at some point on my previous phones I'd go.....wtf !?! But honestly, I have not said that yet. I've found that if it was unfamiliar or different than my previous phones, I usually like it once I figure it out.
Now Tmo's reception......not so good.
But I like Tmo though. After many bad experiences with other carriers, they've been a pleasure, over all, to deal with.
Positive rant over........
True. This phone is excellent. A joy to use and even after I have all my apps and settings loaded it is still lightning fast. Oh and the camera is great.

Well that s4 proceessor handles a lot of that too. Qualcomm deserves some credit.

A different experience compared to our G2x's isn't it? Loving mine so far. You're in Texas so you may like this. I found a nice case at the T-Mobile store that is silver. Combined with the blue phone it looks great and is Dallas Cowboys colors!

Well, mine won't do wifi tethering, FM radio, toggle LTE, or several other things. But that's all thanks to AT&T, not the phone itself

4g yes or no

Dear customer
.We are emailing to inform you that we will have the WHITE Galaxy Note II in stock later on*today*and will be dispatching orders placed for that model on Monday. We realise that you have ordered the TITANIUM model but thought we should ask you if you wanted to change to white as we are not expecting the titanium version until week commencing October 10th.Also, we have learned that the SIM free stock is not 4G capable, only 3G capable so if you wish to cancel your order for that reason then please let us know

Well, I'm not in the UK, but I have lived my entire Mobile life without 4G / LTE. I've streamed netflix just fine, pandora or other music, downloaded podcasts, everything just fine. So do you "need" it? I don't think so. But I think extra bandwidth is always a good thing.
Btw, my average download speed was 1.6 mbps, sometimes higher, others lower.
Don't know if that helps any, good luck in your decision!
You only need 4G when you have poor 3G in you country/area.

yay I'm now a member.
LTE is WAY faster than HSPA+ even at 21Mbps due to its low latency. Please do not say "3G" is sufficient as I was so wrong to think that. Downloading ROMs in 15 minutes is a freaking blessing.

[Q] How to optimize signal of my N4 mobile networks

Hi guys,
First sorry if I ask a pretty noob question here, i just want solution to my problem.
So, I use 3 (three) as one of available carriers in my country. It really annoys me that sometimes the signal is unstable, and the signal goes very bad while i am in my room. Fyi, I live in the biggest city in Indonesia. Is this a common issue in any of your country? Are there any solutions for my N4 to optimize the signals?
Here is some screenshots of my network speed (using speedtest.net)

If you don't mind having slow internet, select use only 2g networks in network options, this helped me go from 2-1 bars to 3-4 bars

The only solution I've heard of is to try and flash a different radio version:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2087227
Some people report that different radio version give different results, so it might be worth a try - I'm actually considering this myself, since I also have a weak signal when inside at home.

Problem is solved, thanks once again mate!
Now my 2G + 3G signals are much much better than before, after I flashed .54. With .48 I usually have 2G gray bars in my room, now it's always blue, even if I use 3G. Solved right?
Thanks!

"LIT" for 4G - what does that stand for?

Hi guys. Since the other day, every time my phone connects to the 4g network, the status bar doesn't show a 4G sign anymore, but a strange "LIT" sign (screen attached).A Google search doesn't explain nothing about it, so I ask you: what does that stand for? Do I have to worry? Tried GravityBox and Substratum to revert back to the 4G sign, but didn't work.
If this can help, LIT began to show up more or less after I played with ADB to hide my tethering activities from my carrier ("settings put global tether_dun_required 0" from cmd). Nothing changed apart from that, network speed seems the same to me. Stock ROM, 8.1 July patch

Maybe it means "LTE" but in a different language
What language did you set your phone?

My phone is set in Italian, but I've honestly never heard about any LTE translations in my language
I’ve hidden tethering using adb as well, and it still displays as LTE for me.
Maybe your LTE signal is just "lit".

In my opinion it is just undiscovered bug. Guess only flashing stock ROM in MiFlash fixes it.
Or maybe you can ask your carrier or operator about that?

I'm a heavy customizer, I just clean flashed the other day and flashing again and re-rooting bothers me. Guess I'll just keep it this way, as long as it doesn't affect my network performance it's just fine - it even gives some swagger to my phone, as some of you noticed lol
