[Q] I Need help with two different apps and problems - Vibrant General

1. Okay so I dont remember what was the name of the app but basically it was the app where you have a 30day free trial and you can watch live tv on it from your vibrant its a decent app but not good at all for 10bucks a month but anyways it says if you dont cancel your subscription they will start billing you every month an extra 10bucks so i forgot to cancel my subscription before I flashed Bionix1.7 and now I dont have the app anymore and cant cancel my subscription how would i be able to cancel it now?
2. okay I like the captivate camera apk on Bionix1.7 but i like the original camera apk from the JI6 build is there any way to flash that one over to Bionix1.7? and if so can someone please provide me with the apk for the camera .
Thanks in advance.

First one sounds like MobiTv. Maybe you could call Tmobile or something.... If nothing else just flash back to stock, cancel and reflash Bionix.
Can't help with #2. Actually I didn't help you with much but a bump....
Good Luck!

Yeah I think it is mobitv but I don't wanna have to go back to JI6 then reflash bionix because I'll have everything wiped once again.. Hopefully I can call tmobile tuesday

On Bionix the developer has a link to download the GAPPS, or bloatware.
These are all the original apks. You can just flash that file (.zip) and MobiTv will be there if not, then try looking for it on the Market, you can cancel thru the app.
For #2 there is a post on development on how to flash the captivate camera and I am pretty sure it also has a link for the original Vibrant camera so you might want to take a look at that.

Question if I did a nandroid When I was on stock can I restore that then restore back to this (by creating a nandroid backup of course before I restore stock) or will something go wrong?

HELP]Bring back some verizon apps in jts clean rom

So I been running the clean rom for about two weeks now.. No issues in the least except I would like access to a fee vzw apps.. Namely need for speed shift and vcast videos both are installed but nfs will not open or show an icon.. Vcast videos I download from market but gives me a cannot connect error and closes..
Im hoping jt or anyone else can answer this thread.. I've installed about 50 or so apps since my last non jt nandroid back up so...
If there is no answer I suppose I should just odin back to stock and reroot and go the titanium freeze method?
Thanks for any answers

Flashing to Nero v3 TouchWiz Edition?

I for one am very disappointed with samsung for droping the ball with the vibrant...and I found this amazing sounding rom(Nero v3 TouchWiz Edition) that I am thinking about flashing to.
My question is will I be able to keep all my data and apps and whatnot...and if I get ROM Manager (Premium) will I be able to recieve updates for Nero v3 TouchWiz Edition via OTA? And last but not least: When I receive the update will I have to re install all my apps and stuff everytime?
Get titanium backup premium and rom manager. Make sure you back up all your apps and youre golden. When you flash a rom your sd card isnt effected you can restore all your apps and data. Google also has a record of the apps you downloaded. Titanium is just easier and can reload data. I think youll find flashibf roms great. I have been doing it a month and am not looking back. Good luck. Be sure to check out the vibrant bible on the vibrant development section. Loads of help.

You won't get OTA updates for a custom rom, but if you flash back to stock, you will.

I mean like "Receive notifications for when your ROM is updated!" on like Rom manager or something not the stock rom
You wont get ota via rom manager unless the dev supports ota on rom manager. i think the only dev using ota or updates on rom manager is sonofskywalker. team whiskey in my opinion has the best roms.

Stock Rom files Unrooted?

If this has already been answered I apologize. I am looking for the stock files to flash in Odin for the Continuum in case of disaster. I am going to root my wifes phone to remove the bloatware and if there is one thing I learned with my fascinate is those files are priceless. Anyone know where I can get the stock files to start over is I need to?

We have some odin files, but they're untested. They are also rooted :-/
If we can get someone to test our DJ20 odin files, then I'm sure someone can figure out how to remove root from them.

I got a stock ROM and kernel from imnuts; would that be the same ones you have?
I flashed that stock ROM and kernel using ODIN on my continuum (which was previously bricked by too much tinkering), and everything works on the phone except for cell data (well, I haven't tested bluetooth on it). If you have different images, I'd be happy to try them out and let you know how it goes.
I also will probably try re-flashing them again just to see if it comes out differently.

Your best bet would be FREEZING your bloatware with Titanium backup PRO to see if you encounter any negative side-effects. If so all you have to do is unfreeze. I freeze apps I don't want and after a week (after backing up) I'll go ahead and fully uninstall them. One at a time, so if **** hits the fan, you know what to restore...

is there a way to manually download el30- sprint?

OK, a long time ago, I did a manual update on my EPIC 4g (sprint). I am thinking that is why I am unable to download the update through the setting tab a week after the update came out. I know everyone has it now. I have no idea what update I did on my phone last year... but I havnt been able to get firmware updates from sprint since them. I'd kinda like to have this one.
Does anyone know of a link that has this update, I can load to my SD card and execute on the phone? I just want to be able to reboot to the new ROM, I dont want to have to hook up to a PC and load it that way. I need a rookie, easy way to do this.
Thanks!!!
You most likely have either rooted or removed at least 1 pre-installed application. That would cause the EL30 update not to install. You can find the .zip file in both the General and Development forums.
If you have rooted or removed any pre-installed apps, then the stock .zip file won't install for you. You would need to make sure you're on a custom kernel for your current build (most likely EC05 or EI22), get CWM 5 installed and then install one of the near stock roms in the Dev forum.
Yea, it was so long ago, I dont know if it is rooted or not? I have been away from this stuff for quite a while and have completely lost touch. CW5? is that an app that I can install directly from the SD card? Also, does the dev forum have ROM's that I can install from SD as well? - sorry for all the questions!

Yes... you would know it if you clicked on it. Just don't start a new thread there. Read, and it'll all make sense.

Go to your Settings > About Phone to see what your baseband, kernel and OS build are.
Yes the dev forum has kernels and roms available for you to flash. Google search "QBKing77 youtube channel" to get how-to videos for doing everything.
Baseband = your modem version. This is completely independent of your kernel and OS and can be a different version from those two.
Kernel & OS build = these must match in build #. Example would be EC05, EI22 and EL30. Some custom kernel's do not include the build # on the About Phone screen, but stock would.
CWM = ClockworkMod Recovery. This is a custom recovery tool that allows you to flash custom roms, kernels, mods and themes.
Easiest way to see if you're rooted is to look for the application Superuser in your application list. If it's there, then you're most likely rooted.
is there a way to unroot this handset and allow the sprint update to come thru? If not, what is the name of a good (stock) gingerbread ROM? There are a ton of them over on the dev side and honestly I dont want to mess with he clockwork stuff. Im kinda pinched for time.
I did find the CWM5 zip - i assume i can run that directly from the SD card, then apply the new ROM.
no superuser... know that I think back, I dont think I did root it. But I dont know why else the carrier update wont work?
ok, I just looked @ the current version(s).
BASEBAND: d700.0.55.DK28
KERNAL:2.6.32.9
BUILD: FROYO.DK28
so, what is going to be the easiest way to get this to EL30?
I am almost done bothering you guys - I promise!
Odining the el30 stock package and flashing an ec05 modem and then flashing the ec05 to el30 delta
Ill offer to do it for you in a little over 15 minutes if you'd like via teamviewer

The modem is if I want to tether - correct? If I dont want to tether, then I dont have to flash the modem portion ?
No the modem is what allows for reciveing signal
Usually the most updated modem allows for better signal
Serisouly don't wanna take me up on the offer? You could just sit back let me d it for you then again if your one of those DIY'S its not very hard if you know what your doing

Yes but these things can be backed up with mybackup from the market her settings not really but contacts sms call logs etc, can be backed up just make sure you don't use the stock cable that you have a good cable and the computer will recognise it
If you would like me to do it from her computer if she has one and her cable isn't stock then I could . Just pm if you need any help.

Another good idea is to google Qbking77 youtube videos. He has a video for just about everything you need to update your phone.

[Q] Is it safe to uninstall AT&T bloatware on rooted I337UCUAMF3?

Given that there's no way to reflash the factory image, is it still safe to remove all the AT&T bloat using Titanium Backup? Right now I have all the AT&T bloatware frozen and it doesn't impact anything, but I just want to if it'll change if I completely uninstall the AT&T programs i.e. My Locker, Blurb Checkout, etc. Would this impact my ability to receive firmware updates or unroot and reset the handset? I should mention I'm probably going to be selling the phone when the Nexus 5 comes out so I still want to be able to unroot and factory reset (as long as it can reset, it doesn't bother me if the AT&T bloatware is gone).
I guess that depends on what you mean by "safe."
I removed almost all of the AT&T stuff except for the update service and the hotspot app, and I know I'll never miss them even without a recovery option.
If you need a recovery option, then probably best to not remove anything and use Safestrap to experiment with other roms.
Don't delete it, freeze it. That way if you mess something up you can defrost it.
If your on MF3 I wouldn't touch anything and just use safestrap.

There is always risk.
I learned the hard way... I touched too much stuff with Tibu on my stock ROM and it doesn't even work anymore. I can't do anything with it... luckily I have safestrap still until they release an mf3 factory image for Odin or kies I can't do anything with my stock ROM.

About the time you posted this last night I was freezing apps. Apparently too many. Phone will not boot past the at&t logo now. I can still boot into my custom rom slot 1 so I'm not at a total loss, but would really like to know if there is anyway to replace/defrost those frozen apps on the stock ROM via the ADB terminal running on my custom ROM. Seems like you could just copy and overwrite the package files on the stock ROM... Which leads me to my ultimate question of what does TiBackup Freeze option actually do? Uninstalling would remove the app and files from the system completely so since they are still present it seems there would be some sort of a control file that you could edit manually to defrost the app(s) in question.
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
I've read a few times that best buy can do a factory restore, yet every time someone says they are going to ask their "friend" at best buy for the method/procedure for the restore they drop off the grid... Is this a possibility?

As long as you don't reboot it =)
Can you defrost it if you have rebooted and now you can't get past the at&t boot logo?

I don't recall the urls but there are already a few in-depth lists of safe bloatware to remove from our phones..
@xda_n I'm not too sure I'm still researching on this, but haven't really been actively looking for it. Not in a rush really because I'm not going to sell my phone or anything so I'm just going to wait on Samsung to release the mf3 file via Odin or kies. I'm just using vision-x and shostock which is giving me better battery and performance than stock and still have stock feel so I'm not in too much of a rush to fix my stock ROM yet. My stock ROM would boot but it would say com.android. something and it'll freeze. I accidently tried to do a factory reset after deleting all the apps via tibu so I couldn't recover any files I saved and froze so i learned my lesson and don't want to deal with best buy right now.
