I agree. I want some way to compare my 3G with my G2
However, we can use MFlops, or the number (in millions) of floating point operations done in one second.
On my iPhone 3G i have an app called MFLOPs
result:
2.232 mflops
On my G2 I have an app called Linpack for Android
Result:
33.982
So, tell you family that a T-Mobile G2 is 15.2 times more powerful / faster than an iPhone

Can't wait for the g2. Gonna be hard to give up my NEXUS.
I don;t think the G2 will be the replacement of my N1. According to all the articles that I've read, they say it will be a 800MHz (only speculations at this time) processor and not a +1GHz. If this is true, then I'll wait for the N2.

I dont think its going to be the vision to be honest.
Its pointless to have a phone with scorching web speeds and an inferior processor. Android spin starts more bull**** rumors then anyone anyway.

This phone will not have anything past 1ghz snapdragons we all know as of right now. The new line isn't coming until the end of the year.
I think I might give up my nexi, I've been dying for a keyboard phone comparable to the nexus one. This may be it.
Not me. I rooted mine when the 1-click root app came out and it gave me more reasons to keep mine. I love it even more! I can't believe i thought of replacing it.

If you check his twitter account, he posted the details of the processor a couple of days ago. But yeah I think it said between 800mhz-1ghz

This is one of those cases where MHz won't matter one bit. The chip has a whole bunch of new features not found on the N1, including many hardware multimedia accelerators. Plus, you really won't notice much of a different with just a 200MHz drop.
With a faster radio, more memory and better hardware acceleration, the CPU speed becomes less important.
I'll upgrade if it offers speedy HD video, HDMI out and more memory as those are the things I'm missing on my N1.
The phone will have the scorpion chip set which equivalent too the snapdragon, but with a better cpu and wvga screen
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
It's going to be hard for me to give my Nexus up as well. I'm still trying to weigh my options on whether I should just go ahead and get the G2 or keep my N1. If the screen size is not 4.3" I will be keeping my Nexus until a 4.3" T-Mobile Android deice come out.

Thanks.
I'm still waiting for a 1.3-1.5 GHz phone before replacing my Nexus.
Honestly, im waitng for the next Dev phone, personally the mod community on the Nexus One is far superior to anything it could be on any other phone. So i'll wait, im not a slide out keyboard guy anyway. Google tends to release a new "dev" phone for each major release:
G1 - 1.0 &1.5
MT3G - 1.6 (i think)
Droid -2.0
Nexus One -2.1 & 2.2
Droid was never a development phone

The EVO is nice but it's downfall is that it's on Sprint. The Desire HD is nice, though
i prefer the g2 ove evo. my bro has the evo, and i find that my screen looks way better and i find my pghone is way faster before oc.
Hi all,
Recently i went into G2/DZ's forum and saw that the dev community support is huge! Almost the same as N1... Did N1 Dev community move on to a better phone?
If they are, what phones currently has the largest dev community support?
Can't both be huge? Just wait till the N1 2.3 OTA drops, the dev section will hotten up
fyi
the n1 still has the largest dev support
its pretty strong here still, I recently traded my n1 for an iphone 4, and dont like it. So probably going to sell or trade it for a nexus s, or g2, sprint evo. Prefer to get the nexus s
* cyanogen recently twitted that Gingerbread is running on his G2
* pershoot, as of lately, has been releasing updates for G2 kernels more frequently than he did for N1
To me, that indicates that the G2 is the heir apparent to the N1

Not really. The N1 already has Gingerbread running on it too but it isn't really excited because N1 users are going to get the official Gingerbread OTA update. Developers aren't going to waste there time getting a half-baked build going when the official one will be here any day.
The other phones aren't getting OTA updates so the ASOP build is the best they'll probably get, so why not start building them up? Plus Cyanogen won't build Gingerbread roms until after we get the official OTA build. He did the same thing with Froyo.
This is why the other DEV threads appear to be SO hot right now. They got what they need. N1 devs are waiting for the real deal.
Cyanogen won't build what?

How dare you! Now I'm excited.
Cyanogen has me addicted to his drop down menu and theme support, so I wait. Seems Gingerbread isn't fully supported yet anyway with lacking Video Record and others.
I know Cyanogen's team is playing with Gingerbread... but I'm not sure if they'll actually release anything until an official build (unless it takes too long or they get everything working). It just doesn't make sense to spend a lot of time on the N1 seeing how GB is coming to us Officially real soon.
Video recording works... xD

Of course they will, the inspire and the thunderbolt are the same phones in which both are basically a carbon copy of the evo which been out for 8 months with the exception of a few differences(mainly updated snapdragon and the newer version of sense). Anyway, sprint has too much riding on the evo name than to come out with an evo 2 with half assed specs.

It's got a better processor (MSM8255 45nm vs the EVO's QSD8650 65nm), more internal memory, MUCH better screen (SLCD), and Sense 2.0.
It's a better device, no question.
It's a better phone to be sure, but not a huge upgrade from the EVO. Though it's always nice to have choice, I'm sure some AT & T users would prefer another Sense phone.
Call it the EVO 4gS

It's internal memory is four times the size of the Evos, I'm sure that makes the new sense much easier to fit on there.
