Upgraded to the new 1.60 ROM hoping to cure this annoying problem but if anything its worse.
I turn the phone off and within 5 minutes its turned itself back on for no apparent reason. No notifications or anything. Cant be doing my battery life any good if it keeps switching on
Any ideas?
That may be something to do with the way that ActiveSync is set up.
I've had this kind of problem in the past and found that by killing activesync by using a task manager of some variety and changing my 'network' settings that the problem goes away
Please excuse me, im quite a newbie at this xda malarky. My xda also turns its self on randomly since installing 2003. you said change your network settings. How and what do you change them to? I made sure that activsync is turned off, but it doesnt make much difference either way.
cheers
I have experienced the same...
And, I've been on multiple ROM's with no avail.
I'm not sure anyone has ever found a solution.
My activesync is turned off, but the damned thing keeps turning on. Its sitting in the cradle at present and it turns on every 3-4 minutes!!!
It is Active Sync
I had this problem with my charger in the car. It is not sufficient to kill the Activesync. You would have to go to the options in the Activesyn menu, go to the new options button in the PC tab (the first one) and there disable the box with the name "Enable PC sync using this connection". This you will have to enable each time you want to sync via the cradle. I don't have the problem in the original cradle, it is only with the thirdparty car charger. I sync via IR or bluetooth and that is always available via the menu in Active Sync.
Good luck!
Johan
ActiveSync i can understand when its in the cradle but currently its sitting on my desk and still turning on at random intervals sometimes 30 secs after i switch it off!!!
Signal strength maybe?
I have same problem, happens mostly in car but not exclusively.
I get the feeling that it's related to the cellular signal strength and the device loosing or regaining the GSM connection.
San Francisco has several zero or almost zero coverage areas so it's not unusual for a phone to loose and then regain a connection while driving or walking.
I would love this device if it worked as expected but at this moment it is the source of endless frustration.
im also having these problems they are head doing never used to turn itself on as soon as i hard reset it just started to do this now and its annoying me so much
Im also having these problems . I find a solution using registry cleaner of pocket mechanic.
Bye
Guys, Check the setting of the ActivSync, most probably you will find a schedule for synchronization is set every certain time. So, you have to switch it to Manual Sync.
I think this should soulve your problem.
Sprite Backup
I too had this problem. For some reason the enabling Sprite Backup battery monitoring and Scheduled Backups caused this. try turning these features off if you have it installed.
I have same problem, its really anoying, have not found a way to stop auto connection even after changing some setting on my computer Activesync & XDAii activesync. I'm guessing theres no way to stop it.
Is there an active sync update available? I'm using 3.7 (build 3083)
For those whose unit turns on by itself, please check:
From your PPC:
Start > ActiveSync > Tools> Options > Mobile Schedule
Make sure all 3 options are set to "Manually".
From your Desktop PC ActiveSync:
Tools > Options > Schedule
Make sure every active options are set to "Manually" as well.
You can manually sync but Activesync still keeps "looking for changes"
I need for help plsssss
if some body plsssss attch the last eddition of xda2nbftools because I am living in Saudi Arabia, and the web site to can download this file is BLOCKED here in Saudi Arabia, they are blocking web sites here then u can't open it at all and no way to can download it unless if it attached here in this forum
Here is it:
Same for me too,
Mine can turn itself on almost as soon as i turn it off, its a running battle to get it to turn off and i very rarely win, I have accepted the fact that mine will stay on most of the time now and have a second battery to help me through the day,
I checked all my settings and all mobile schedule settings were on manual and all the active options are set to manual too, so it wasnt those settings causing the problem,
I cant believe the lack of support that O2 are providing, if this was an HP handheld there would have been a fix for each problem as it cropped up within a week as they have done with each of their handhelds
do the people experiancing turn ons have a card in the Sd slot? i do but i notice when the device is off...... put a sd card in and the device turns itself on i only started to notice it turning on when i got my SD card i might take it out tonight and try then?
Yup, i have a card in the slot all the time, took it out for a few hours this morning and it was no different, still kept turning itself on,
I looked a bit deeper into it this morning too,
It seems that i use it, turn it off and it turns back on 13 seconds later, i turn it off again and it turns itself back on again 13 seconds later, so i try to turn it off and the power button has no effect, i have to press it twice to turn it off, then it seems to stay off for at least 30 minutes before going through the exact same sequence again,
I will list all my installed programs a bit later when i have more time, hopefully everone else can do the same (whether you have the problem or not) then we can see if there's a common program that is on all the XDA2's that might be making them turn on and see if its absent from the XDA2's that are fine
So, my brother and I have been running MoDaCo 1.1 core for a couple days now.
My phone has stopped connecting to the mobile network. All it says when I try to connect is "Standby for connecting to mobile network" with a green checkbox. I also notice now when I select the checkbox to connect it turns green instantly and shows that standby message. Before it would take a couple seconds to connect and turn green.
I have tried changing the mode of operation and it still doesn't want to connect. There is no 1x or EVDO in the notification bar. Wifi and GPS still work fine.
My brother's phone is still working fine. I have no idea what the problem can be.
Anybody else having this problem with MoDaCo 1.1?
I think that it has something to do with airplane mode. I enabled airplane mode yesterday, then turned it off. I didn't realize my data wasn't working after that since I don't use it while I'm at home. I am not sure if that is exactly the problem, just trying to think about how it could have stopped working.
I've noticed mine will do this at random on the MoDaCo 1.1 ROM. Every now and then I'll look at my phone and realize my EV symbol at the top is gone and I have no network connection. When this happens both the option in Settings and the small on/off widget on one of my home screens say it's still turned on. If I turn it off and back on, then I just get the "Standby for connecting to mobile network" message too. The only way I've found to get it to work again is to reboot the phone.
FYI this same problem happens to me with the stock ROM, even when it wasn't rooted. I've noticed it only happens when you turn airplane mode on, and then off.
Hmmm...I never touch airplane mode and I never saw this happen once in the month that I had the phone with the stock ROM. Maybe my problem is unrelated then.
Even when I reboot my phone it still doesn't work. I have tried messing around with the widgets turning things on and off multiple times and still nothing can get it working again.
I just went back to an old nandroid backup from before I put MoDaCo 1.1 on the phone and it seems to be working again. I'm going to put 1.1 on again. I'll use it for a while and try to recreate the problem to figure out exactly what it is.
Sprint/HTC has to fix that. it's a bug.
Guys,
I updated my tab a few days ago. Now the market looks different but unfortunately I'm facing another irritating problem which I have no clue how to solve.
Every time that I turn off the tab, and let it be idle for 10 minutes, when I turn it back on, the WiFi icon will show no bars - which translates into no internet connectivity. That happens while the WiFi button is still pressed (green in the pop-up menu). In order for the device to connect to the net I need to turn the WiFi OFF and than ON and it works.
I checked the WiFi sleep configuration and they are set to "never turn it off" I also rebooted the device but with no change.
Please let me know what to do... as this thing sometimes just drives me crazy.
Thanks.

Flash a custom rom bro. Otherwise you are stuck with Samsung's awesome bugs. If you don't want to flash a custom rom there isn't really much you can do about it considering you're not rooted. What did you update to? KMP???
I did the regular Samsung update -the latest one that was released a couple of says ago. The problem with rooting is losing the coverage I have for insuring the device... which I'm reluctant to do. I'm sure it has a solution somewhere...
Yes I confirm.
This "reconnect" issue is being discussed on many forums with no solutions yet. (except custom ROM)
The title says basically all. After full unlocking my Ativ-S, and in that process naturally installing the sdk, I have random problems on connecting to my laptop. I have to boot the phone to get connected. Before the root I never had any problems.
Oh and when I get connected, the green disconnect device safely icon appears and dissapears after connection, so I cant disconnect that way anymore... Could this actually be the cause, as the device has been dicsonnected wrong?
Help is appreciated as this is annoying!
It's been a little quirky for me too; the trick is that the phone has to be locked (pin-locked, not just lock screen) when you connect it to the PC, and then you need to unlock it; that *should* work. Did you apply the full-FS-access hack yet? That one seems to make it even harder.
By the way, you don't need to do the "safely disconnect" thing as long as there's no data being transferred. It's not USB Mass Storage, where you can actually corrupt the filesystem by unplugging the device in the middle of an operation, either; if you disconnect mid-transfer, all that will happen is the transfer will fail.
I didnt know that about disconnecting the phone safely. Though this disapearing on the disconnect icon also started happening at the same time, so it could be raleted somehow? Also I have applied full unlock to the phone, if thats what you meant?
Connecting with pin-code on does not seem to help. It is even possible that I need to reboot every other time to get connection, I havent investigated enough. I will look in to this over the weekend to get full picture whats going on here. I have a possibility test with other laptop, that does not have anything extra in it, just running W8.1 with regular drivers, so I will also test with that to get the SDK out of the picture.
I will report back.
Im glad this isnt such a big deal anymore, back in the WM days this would hve been a major pita.
It is not every other time. After I booted now I have connected/disconnected many times in a row. Same behaviour on the other system. Also on that laptop the disconnect device icon disapears. Whatever is causing this, its all on the phone side.

It happened to me,too. I have a computer using Intel Core i3 and another powered by an old intel CPU.
on the i3 one, the phone appears as soon as i plug it in but on the old one, it takes a long time for the phone to appear..
AND on my Surface RT, it didn't appear even after 5 hours...
I didnt know what I was talking about, I didnt have FS access.. I did all interop unlocks only, I didnt have FS turned on. After turning it on, the phone is recognized by the computer and the disconnect icon appears, but its not seen by file explorer.
Im still experiencing these problems.
Seems that every morning I have to boot the device to get connected. After that I can connect the device as many times as I want.
Hello,
First of all, I have never rooted my cell phone, so I guess I am still using the original ROM? I have no idea how to change a ROM, how to root a cellphone, or how to even see what mine is, just so you know. This is why I created a new thread, the other ones solutions always reffered to "change your Rom" etc.
I currently possess a HTC/T-Mobile MyTouch 4G. The issue that I'm having is the following: Everytime I try to turn my Wi-Fi on, it takes a little while, turns on for a couple seconds and then turns itself off, without any command. And it keeps going on this cycle: turning on and off (it is so fast that it cannot even recognize any saved networks, and the wifi icon does not even show up in the upper bar), until I rapidly and manually click, when it is "on", to turn off. Then it stops the cycle, with the WiFi turned off. This means that I cannot use my wireless connection, and it has been lasting for more than 2 months by now. I can access 3G normally. I have tried to "soft format" the cellphone, but it has changed nothing. (By soft format, I mean the format option included on the phone. It formatted everything, deleted my contacts, apps, themes, configurations and etc, but it was made from within the phone). Also, when it is "on", and when I click in the "Wi-Fi settings" bar, it shows nothing and it freezes the phone for a while, some seconds. Then it turns to the "off" state and returns me to the previous page automatically.
The problem aparently appeared from nowhere, I have not made a single change in anything other than installing applications. I have had an issue regarding its battery, though, which made me substitute the battery. The problem also seemed to appear with the battery issue, but it is still occuring, even though I have substituted the battery.
I thank you very much in advance, and look forward for help and a solution.
Best regards.

My First android phone was a Motorola MB200. The WiFi never worked. Tried soft reset, flashing the stock Firmware via Pc and using wifi fixing appsbut it never worked.
Until i rooted and flashed cyanogenmod.
The Wifi miraclously started working.
Until now, i dont know why the stock rom couldnt fix that issue.
To cut things short, you could give rooting a try and it might fix your issue.
