Media seems to be high, and i'm not sure why. I'm not running any media widgets except the stock Android one. I only have three pages, and no other widgets that use media. Unless if these use it..??

You probably have a bad file on your SD card. Transfer alll the data out, reformat it, and test your Evo out again. Put a few working files and images and check to see if you still receive the same problem.

could be something running in the background like youtube app or some music streaming app, check with atk

I have read this once before, now my question is how do you find what file it is? I mean I have some ringtones from Zedge, and wallpapers from Zedge. I also deleted a file that I was told may be causing it. media/notifications/facebookpop.MP4. So I deleted that, and it does look as if the media battery usage is going down.

I know I have been looking with certain apps I have. Nothing is hogging CPU or staying awake. Just seems that media is hogging network usage. It seems currently that it is going down after my removal of the facebook pop mp4 file. However i'm not 100% positive that it's the cure. Also remember to that it's the network usage. No problems with CPU or partial wake..
Not entirely sure yet, but I was using the 3D Gallery from the Market, which has the sync Picasa web albums option. I had that syncing, i'm thinking this may of been the cause of the higher network usage.
I was going to tell you to check your sync settings on media apps...

Must of spoke to soon once again.. It's back. I have done the SD thing, and stopped syncing Picasa. I do notice when using any app that needs network, they spike up to the top. Is this really a big deal? Since it's just network usage? Cause like I said my CPU and Partial wake are normal. I do wish I could find what's causing it though. My girls Hero does not have this.
Check out an app called trafficinfo. It tells you how much data each app is using
Are you using Frostwire? My phone began having a Mediaserver problem with battery drain when my downloads wouldn't finish. This was only after activating Snap Turbo on a full SD card, and I haven't been able to recreate the problem again.
HTC EVO 4G | CyanogenMod 6 RC2 | Snap v7.6 CFS
Hmmm, now that I look at your picture I don't think it's the same problem. My problem was a data problem, sorry if I didn't help much.
HTC EVO 4G | CyanogenMod 6 RC2 | Snap v7.6 CFS
I'm just wondering if this is even killing my battery? I get other apps in the network usage that get that high, but they don't constantly stay there. This one doesn't either, it eventually goes down. Cause now i'm looking at it, and my internet is all the way up just about, because I was using it. Media is about a quarter, so way down.

So, recently, i randomly receive a message from my carrier telling me that i am about to run out of data.
However, weirdly enough i was on wifi and i wasn't using my phone in any abnormal ways.
When i check the data usage i see a sudden spike in data use caused by Google+.
It listed that within a day google+ ate 205 MB of data in a "background" process.
The only thing that i can think of that could have even used that amount of data would be photos uploading in the background.
However after i search for the upload settings i found out that the current google+ doesnt contain a "off" switch for automatically uploading photos.
The only thing you can control is that if they are posted in public or not.
There isn't even a option to only upload when on wifi to restrain google+
Is there a way to block google+ from accesing 3g or preventing it from just dumping every photo that is taken on the interwebs?
The app is being quite intrusive, even more than facebook at this moment...
Also if i go past my limit i have to pay a lot per extra mb that is used up.
I am using a Nexus4 with a stock OTA Android 4.2.2 and google+ runs at 3.6.1.44747389
There IS an option in google+ settings to enable instant upload only on wifi. Look for it.
Cheers

i have, sure you have the same version? i have seen youtube videos of google+ settings menus with even a "off" switch on the instant upload.
My version does not have one.
also for some reason in the last 30 mins it gobbled up another 50mb, like WTF!!?!?
currently i have just disabled the mobile internet connection for the phone, if i leave the phone like this it will be past it's limit before dinner...
Nice piece of extra info, i force closed the app about half an hour ago aswell, apparently it restarted and continued to drain my data, im not sure anymore if this just regards photos or if the app has gone crazy.
a little update...
For some reason it kept tanking bandwidth, i uninstalled (disabled) the app, this is a graph of the bandwidth usage spike

FYI version 3.6.0 on mine
I do recommend you to uninstall the app. Reboot your phone. Than install the Google+ app again. Then follow the following mentioned steps.
I am using build number 3.6.1.44747389 from the play store.
Check if you have updated your version to the latest one in the play store.
If you have, then open the google+ app. At the top right hand corner there are 3 dots. Click it. Click settings. Next, you will be in a settings menu.
Scroll down. Under Photos and Videos there should be an option named instant upload. Click it.
You have options to change 1) When to upload photos/videos.
Thats what you have to change to wifi only.
Other than that there should not be any other problem.
- Good Luck.

That might happen due to google plus uploading ALL of your photos/videos again.
Strange, even because i had the phone connected to wifi with fibre internet on the isp active, so then it uploaded stuff to 3g when it could have just used wifi....
OP, please keep to one thread, dup thread closed, Thanks.

Same problem as u. From my understanding it's the 4.3 update that is continuing to try and download in the background. There is a few fixes floating around but none of them have work for me.

If you have a custom recovery, try yourzgapps.
I think you should have a look at your google+ backup options... It's probably backing up all your pictures.

google + settings, make sure your picture backup is set to wifi only.. each time you flash a new rom check that to ensure it's not hogging your data
To fix the google service data feast without losing battery life or connection to the servers do the following:
1) Download autorun manager.
2) Open it and picked advanced(recommended).
3) In setting check show system entries.
4) Go back to the main screen and on the left top corner pick system apps.
5) find google service framework and expands it.
6) find systemUpdateService$Receiver and uncheck it (should be the last one).
7) You can also uncheck systemUpdateService$SecretCode just in case( I got it disabled).
I check my Google+ settings and everything was checked off. I'm going to download autorun manager and try that. Thanks!

Hi.
I'm getting some weird battery drain on my N4. I'm running a pretty raw collection of incomplete things right now, so I know mmmv, but I'm trying to track down which program or service is throwing this partial wakelock. It comes up as "Google Services" in the battery settings and as "*sync*/com.android.browser/com.google/[gibberish]@gmail.com" in BetterBatteryStats.
See the attached pictures. I'm on a more or less stock early kitkat rom from PA, 0-day GApps, and ART.
I bet this drain will go away when some or all of those are updated, but I'm otherwise very happy with my phone as-is so if I could solve this without reverting to JB or Stock that'd be great. If I can't, I might try Dalvik again and see if it helps.

What ya still doing on the AOSP ROM? Get yourself a factory image and then tweak/flash away! its your 'services'.
If you don't want to change when I didn't as well (also used AOSP 4.4 for a while!) I just backed up everything on PC and factory reset and wiped data. It then resolved my wake lock issues, hopefully it works out!

Go to Settings -> Location, choose Battery Saving or Device only. In addition, do you use Google+? If no, disable or uninstall it. Reboot the phone and monitor battery usage to see if still draining fast. If still, try to clear cache and dalvik cache in recovery.

Sorry for the slight necro.
I am having this wake lock frequently myself, doesn't seem to take a huge hit on the battery but does keep phone from deep sleep.
I looked all over the settings in browser app, couldn't find sync, can anybody assist in location.

Better battery stats....... Is that a 3rd party app?
Could be that that battery app is miss reading something and giving you false information based on your other screen shots.
@shwnr11
That could be it. Better Battery Stats is a well known XDA application made by a member here named chamonix.
It is free for us XDA members but it is also a Paid application on the PlayStore.
I'll read up on his thread to see if he can point me into the right direction.
I wanted to come on here first to see if anyone else with a V20 is using this application and having the same problem.
I recently rooted my phone and at first I did not use a Custom Rom like (Overdrive, Etc.) and I ran into the same problem where the stats are showing Wi-Fi constantly running. I thought I may have deleted or frozen something using TitaniumBackup and I just could not figure it out at all and decided to go ahead and try the Overdrive Custom Rom to see if was something I did.
And of course after setting up my phone BetterBatteryStats is showing Wi-Fi is constanly running again...even on a clean install of a Custom Rom. It is not "On" because that is labeled as something else within the stats and it does not seem to be draining battery even though it shows "100%" battery usage. I am still achieving at the end of the day "1.0%" drain every hour.
But I appreciate you commenting and not just "Viewing" like the other 100 or less viewers have.
I still have no idea what would cause this type of battery usage with the Wi-Fi.
I decided to go ahead and do a fresh clean install of OverDrive's Custom Rom. I have not loaded any of my apps from Titanium Backup but Better Battery Stats.
After 2 hours now BBStats does not show this type of battery usage anymore.
So I am even more puzzled now. It may be that I deleted an app or apk or frozen something that requires Wi-Fi to behave properly.
Is there a list of aps or apks that we can safely remove or freeze?

Check in developer options and make sure allow WiFi room scans is turned off, when on it sends your location data to Google even when you turn WiFi off.
wifi
Common sense isn't all that common
@ZDeuce2
That was the first place I thought to look because I remember that being an issue with the Nexus 6 but unfortunately it was already disabled.
But I believe it may have been something I deleted or froze because I went ahead restored all of my apps one by one that I had prior just to see if it was an app of mine and I did not delete or freeze or anything this time around and Wi-Fi is not showing any usage at all with the BBStats app.
Yea I am puzzled but I am a happy camper now. BBStats is showing a solid "0.2%" battery usage every hour! Getting awesome battery life now.
Thank you though good sir for the comment.
Hi guys, is anyone here still using Google maps v6?
It is still working fine, except that on this phone (s10+ Exynos) the app gets killed when running in the background.
At first i believed it to be because i had added the app to the sleep list. I had done that because the system keeps saying the app is eating up battery, even when not running.
So I removed the app from the sleep list, but it keeps getting killed.
How can i make sure that an app never gets killed when running in the background?
Try this go into settings and search optimize battery usage, and then press optimize battery usage listed. You have the options to see what is not optimize battery usage or all click all on top left and see If maps is toggled on. If so toggle off.

I have those settings now, and removed the app from the sleeping apps (again). I'm afraid the system will put it back on the 'sleep' list again because it uses a lot of battery in the background (I get regular warnings about that).
Anyone have an idea why this app would be so active while not even used?

It's v6 of Google Maps. It had a much simpler interface, and easier to use when looking for alternative routes.
And it doesn't have all that commercial baggage of the new version, which is way slower too btw.
The only thing is, why does it use battery when not even started....
