Super.. Suuupeeer Slow WIFI-3G data transfers..... - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

HI, this is my problem.
i HAVE SUPER SLOW data transfers, in my house with 10mb conection, ever, the apps, or downloads never get more than 100kb ( the max ) and 50kb of average.
i fall slep, when i need to whait to download 3 or 4 ****ing mb...
Anyone, know why?
ITs the radio rom, or the version of android?
I have MUIUI-ROM and the lastest radio

I have this same issue, I don't know what to do. I really would like to have regular speeds and not have to wait to download a normal sized app.

Bump +1
I notice slow speeds especially when downloading from the market and it is the same whether I'm connected over wifi or cellular. Downloading from the market I get about 8kb/s downloads!
The odd thing is when I run a test with the Speedtest.net app I get this
WIFI
11.03 Mb/s down
1.10 Mb/s up
T-Mobile USA
3.45 Mb/s down
1.29 Mb/s up
I thought maybe this was a market issue, but I get very good market download speeds like 500 kb/s on my G1 and my wifes Eris, whether on Wifi or Cellular....
Would love to get to the bottom of this. My HD2 is pretty much flawless minus the slow data transfers....

finally, it's a market (app) problem?
I dont know, why need to wait 10 or 20 minutes to download 5 or 7mb...
on HDSPA, Wifi or whatever...

Bump
Having the same problem can anyone help?

The only build with which I've not experienced slow WiFi and data speeds is [Build][20.11.2010][NexusHD2-FRG83D V1.7 PPP+RMNET] (hastarin r8.2 with G-Sensor Fix) - you should try and see if that works for you.

Touch HD - O2 users in UK: 3G Speeds

Having moved from an iPhone 3G to the Touch HD (and having previously owned over 5 other HTC phones), I'm finding the 3G speeds abysmal!
I was expecting Opera to be slower than Safari, but not to the extent that I have found.
Try news.bbc.co.uk or guardian.co.uk on Opera - both take around 30-60 seconds to appear! Is that the experience of other O2 customers in the UK, or on other networks?
I would also like feedback on which ROM/Radio versions you are running - I am currently on Duttys 1.7 with the 1.10 radio.
Thanks all!
Cant speak for O2 but on t-mobile, cnn takes 11 secs and the beeb takes 9secs to load. Remember that 3g quality can influence these speeds too. I'm on Dutty's 1.7.
Thanks for that. Can you try a speed test on something like www.dslreports.com/mspeed - might be a useful comparison. Try a few tests to get a average. Thanks.
212Kbit/sec for me on O2
Edders
That is slow!
Some of my test have been over 1mb but browsing feels slow!
400KB file @ 714kb/seconds on Orange 3G in my living room in a house.
you should be lucky you can get it at all, my home is on a hill with a direct line of sight to the o2 radio mast and i cant even get 3G!
Ive tried a new SIM im about to try a new radio ROM but all in all i just dont seem to be able to get it.
On O2 using Laurentius' V6 and with 3-4 bars of HSDPA from Kingston upon Thames....
I used Internet Explorer, downloaded the 1MB test file from http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed and got 474k/sec
Then I tested Opera with 1MB file and got 297 k/sec
Then I tested IE again (1 MB) to double check the speed and got 222 k/sec
Then double checked with Opera (1 MB)and got 351 k/sec
So what does this tell us? Well IE has the fastest and slowest download speed and Opera is somewhere in the middle so I don't think it tells us anything except download speeds can fluctuate quite significantly in a very short space of time! Not very helpful or consistent.
I noticed my average latency was 0.5 sec, which is made much less significant with a big download but by downloading small files or web pages the latency will have a much more noticable effect.
I also ran the test on my PC using my company network which is quite fast for browsing and only got 400k/sec but the latency was just 0.1 sec

speedtest.net, Opera 10 mobile, HD2 is slower on WIFI than on Tmous?

First I apologize if this has been covered in another post - I searched but couldn't find and if so a redirect would be appreciated.
I'm trying to determine just how fast data can be pushed through the phone and I've run into some problems.
I'm trying to use speedtest.net to do this and it was working with the stock ROM but since I've been trying different ROMs (3 of them in fact) I always get the error "Missing License Key" in he Speedtest.net window.
Anyone have any idea how to fix this?
Since that one doesn't work I've been using the Speedtest.net mini. That at least gives me up and download speeds.
But I've also found that whne I connect to the internet with WiFi the speeds are almost slower than a decent H connection.
It's rare that I get over 3 down /1.5 up on a WiFi N connection that has 20+Mbit Comcast connection behind it.
Here I'd just like to confirm if everybody else is seeing the same thing:
What dl/ul speeds are your seeing with your HD2 connected to a fast wireless router?
On the stock ROM it wasn't much higher than the 3G.
Not for me, I usually get 13-14 Mbps down/ 50 kBps (stupid cable upload speeds) up on wifi and around 1.8 Mbps down/ 1.5 Mbps up on HSXPA/UMTS.
I personally have very little faith in the reliability of numbers from speedtest.net
Try testing this way...use IE instead of opera, and go to www.speakeasy.net/speedtest (it wont run in opera but will in IE). When I use that method while connected to my home wifi, I get the exact same speed my desktop gets using the same dsl source (just a hair over 5MB down), which my 3g connection here has yet to match...usually caps out at around 3MB or so.
I've seen the same behaviour as the OP.
My Wi-fi speeds are slower than my HSPA speeds.
I had same issue as well. I had bsb tweaks installed. I disabled the wifi n tweak. after that both my 3g and wifi speeds went up. Re-enabled the tweak to see if speeds would be reduced and this time only the wifi speeds increased again. tweak must of been causing some sort of issue with the 3g and wifi speeds. Try disabling it, soft reset and than re-enable the tweak. Hopefully it works for you as it did for me.

Which ROM are you using and how much faster is it? Do you see a large speed difference with a different ROM between a fast WiFi and 3g/h?
The only real difference I noticed between the stock and 3 other ROMS I've installed so far is that I wasted a long time trying to get WiFi working in KAOS but never could. I was able to get a connection but the client never reported an IP address. Turns out the ROM I was using was not specifically for the TMOUS HD2 so maybe that was the cause.

My situation is reversed; the cable manages 3mb up on the PC but the 3G/H is almost always much slower on upload than download.

Thanks, that was an excellent suggestion; I hadn't tried this particular site before and while it uses the same data as speedtest.net it also allows a specific destination and works with IE.
In random testing on WiFi I got around 7-8Mb down, 3 Mb up. While driving around the local area I got 5 bars from two different towers and found an average 1.0Mb dl, 0.8Mb up, and that was pretty constant whether moving or stopped.
I've also noticed in general that the "H" only appears whenever data is actually being transferred (sounds like our back-end hasn't been upgraded). Right now I can get neither the speedtest.net nor the mini version to work - the windows just stay white.
I'll keep trying both of them to compare over the next few weeks but I think the biggest part of the problem is Adobe Flash. There is a reason why Apple doesn't support them and I don't think it's all political like Adobe would have us believe.
I've also done some more experimenting with mobilespeedtest.com as well as general testing over the past few days.
Mobile speed test shows that IE seems to be faster/more stable than Opera - by probably 5 to 20%. While the absolute numbers had alot of variability, Opera was unable to complete the 5 MB and 7 MB tests at all; the browser window just remained blank.
The other thing to throw in here while trying to clean up the phone I found the post about doing a hard reset and that also seemed to help. I don't have any solid data but I would certainly hard reset it again and recommend it to anyone that has changed ROMS much or done a lot of installing/deinstalling of cabs.

By how much roughly? Are you also on the stock ROM?
That certainly jibes with what I found on the stock ROM using speedtest.net.

I don't have BSB tweaks installed currently but I performed the WirelessN tweak in the registry. Based on what you've said here I went back and switched it off, did a soft reset, tested and then back on and retested, and found no dramatic difference between any of them. What I found was a lot of variability between the tests in the same setting - even one right after the other. (I would probably do well to review the wireless router settings to see if I can up the data throughput rate.)
To compare I checked a notebook using N located at about the same distance from the router and got speeds a little (5-10%) faster than on the phone (-hardwired into the router I get 25Mbps down). This tells me the phone is as optimized as it's going to be going through my router.
So on the phone I see final scores of about 7-8Mbps down, 2-3 up, with spikes over 10 Mbps down and 4 up during the tests.
Deeted - error post
I tried "mobilespeedtest.com" and get around 1100-1300 kbps on wifi and the same or more when wifi off and using t-mobile (with "H" showing, not 3g).
speakeasy/speedtest on wifi 3421 kbps, off wifi , 3569 kbps (3.57mbps)

No, Not on the Stock ROM.
Like Opera Mini and Skyfire, I think Opera Mobile 10 goes through an external server. One cannot get an accurate speed test that way. Use Opera 9, or better IE, as it works with flash speed tests as well, not only the mobile ones.

Tether slow after >1GB

I've noticed something odd.
I'm using Chromatic 3.9
Wifi Tether 2.05 RC2
Swap 96mb swappyness 45
The issue is that when I exceed 1GB of transfer over wifi tether the connection slows down drastically.
Below 1GB I'll get download speeds around 300KBps. Over 1GB it drops to ~7KBps.
I do not believe the issue is throttling as the speed returns to normal with a simple reboot.
I do not mind rebooting every couple hours, but I'm just curious as to what may be happening.
Previously I was using 2.05 RC1 and transferred ~3GB with no issues.
Thoughts?
Hmmm... I would go ahead and say that it's an AT&T problem but...
1) It's the phone not the network.
2) You probably have T-Mobile.
3) AT&T is slow from start to finish, it doesn't wait until after 1GB.
Otherwise, I have no idea.

[Q] slow wifi and 3g speeds.

i see a ton of youtube vids testing wifi and 3g. seems mine is the slowest around and cant figure out why. if im on wifi or 3g i get 1500kbps. doesnt matter which i use. i get my full 18 mbps speeds if i test with my laptop but again not with this phone.
any clue as to what the hell?
running stock rooted rom.
Same here
Yeah, I'm getting the exact same thing. First had an issue where my wifi would be in a permanent cycle of scanning, connecting, disconnected. I found a post saying it was an issue with the wap_supplicant file and that forcing it back to an older version (which was pulled from an old CM 6 alpha build) would resolve it. Tried that, and now my wifi isn't cycling anymore (so that's fixed) and can actually connect to my wifi, but now my data speed goes to almost nothing after trying to do anything with data other than running a speed test.
EX: reboot phone
run speed test 3 times, each time giving 11 Mbps down and 786 Kbps up (which is what it should be at on the low end but I'm happy with it).
go to the market, search for an app (don't download anything), go to the web, do a google search
now data is slow
run speedtest 3 times, each time get approx 900 Kbps down and 786 Kbps up
reboot and the same thing just keeps happening again and again.
Stock ROM, rooted but nothing else (other than the older wap_supplicant).
If someone can find a solution to this that'd be great!

Data speed on Tethering

Hi
Before i got my i9505 i used my i9000, i travel alot and when the hotells doesn't provide wifi i use wireless tether. This always worked good and i was looking forward to get my hands on a 4G phone for faster speeds... problem now is that i cant say the speed is better... not even better then the i9000 for some reason.
It starts of good with fair speeds depending on coverage.. then it goes down fast, after just 2-3 minutes of downloading a big file the speed goes down to about 50kb/s for some reason and stays there untill i restart tether.
Could someone help me confirm this by downloading a big file ('bout 500mb or so?) and see if you can reproduce it.
currently i'm on ME2 with Omega 3.0
Swedish Three as provider and when i used speedtest.net while the download speed was 50kb/s i still had 5mb/s on the phone
unfortunately i did not test this while i was on stock rom would have been great if i did so it would be easier to determin where the problem was.
I also noticed the speed went higher (not full speed though) if i never let the screen go to sleep. i dont use any power savers of any kind.
