Just wondering if anyone out who had Mobile AP running on JFD has successfully updated to the OTA JI6?
Reading a lot of the "bricked" threads and Mobile AP seems to be a commonality.
I have. Lost the mobileAP though. Working on getting it back now.
i did, among other things (root, captivate camera, black bar mod, ji5 gps). the update removed it all and put the bloat back on. after about 45 minutes or so i had it all back and the bloat gone. no problems.
Negative. Removed my OCLF and root, kept the gps update and the Mobile AP, ran the update and now...back on my G1 for the night...

^^ What he said. I have the AP in settings and can connect to it, but no-go on the internet access.
I updated and then used Clockwork recovery to flash the Mobile AP. It works great now! I get faster speeds than I used to.
I recommend deleting previous entries for Galaxy S_7936 in your wireless networks.
*fixed*

UPDATE: I flashed the J16 version2 and although the client would connect, it could not get to the internet. I changed the DNS on the client (ipod) from the Vibrant default (192.168.16.1) to the DNS of my home internet provider and it works like a charm.

Update:
Found the Ji6 mobile Ap, flashed it works perfect, no port changes needed for me.
By the date it looks like the mobile ap from the leaked version of Ji6. Seems to work fine but I would have preferred a file packaged from the OTA. But hey, it works fine.

I have been testing several ROMS for AT&T Captivate and Rogers I896 and have download countless version of kies, finally I found one version that works, regardless of the rom, I am running froyo and TWLauncher.
That version is Kies 1.5.3.10075_17, Don't update as soon as you do it will no longer works, I did n't have to do anything to the phone settings, I have external sd card, the only thing to accept will be to download the decoder pack, videos, phone book, message viewer everything works, of course the firmware update will not work if you have a custom ROM. I did n't test with Stock rom. Download link will come soon, currently uploading. ENJOY!
**IMPORTANT** EVERYTIME you uninstall any version of kies run the kies uninstall tool, it removes all regystries left behind by kies. Download here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/4rmq8t

oh well after all that trouble, turns out that Kies Air from Samsung apps works flawlessly, so I am sticking to that from now on!
Kies Air does n't require software on the computer, you just install the application on your phone... from the computer browser type the address provided by the app and there you have it, of course it works on your wi-fi network, simple awesome.1

Finally Samsung has released the upgrade , and most importantly the wifi sharing bug has been resolved.
Now on switching on the wifi, wifi sharing does not start up, nor does it stay on in the background and hog all the battery life. I am sure my battery is going to last much longer now.
Anyone knows what other bug fixes have been done in this firmware upgrade , other than wifi sharing fix ......
New Kernel Version : 2.6.35.7-19100XWKF3-CL276555 [email protected]#2

Go flash kg6,kh3 or any newer rom through Odin. I had the same bug on bell and this issue forced me to flash a generic rom through Odin.

When you update through kies, it will prompt you on whether to backup everything before beginning the update, and then automatically restore all the settings if necessary after the update. Very simple.
New build for southeast asia Nov.2012
Finally, confirm fix wifi issue.
Load at sammobile , flash with Odin.
I have no more wifi can't connect anymore , only sometime it may take a while before connect. Also test with previous unable to connect router.
really recommend
Just saw notification and updated OTA.
Hopefully wifi will be fine now.

KERNEL and MODEM are the same size, ROM is larger, probably more languages and apps...
Are you sure that the DLXP8 builds fix the isse? I flashed the Singapure one from samsungfirmwares using Mobile Odin over Q2 Austria ICS and still see issues...especially compared to my Motorola Droid...
Can you provide a link to the exact file of the firmware he thinks got once and for all rid off the wifi bug? I think that might be really helpful. Thanks.
I never had wifi problems, apparently only some routers cause it, flashed the last ROM just in case

Not sure if it's just me, but I noticed there are still some wifi issues with DXLP8.
WIFI works very well in general. However, if I left the tablet idle for long period of time, eg an hour. Then I try to use it again, I would not be able to browse internet even though the WIFI status shows connected. I have to toggle off the WIFI and reconnect to get it back to work.
Did any one experience similar problem?
Thanks
Today there is an update available for the allshare cast dongle.
But once i connected my dongle after downloading the update, no message popped up for the update to dongle.
Does someone know howmthe update works? And whats changed with todays release?

Mine is running v 1.2.2102. I uninstalled the updates and reinstalled them. Not noticed anything different yet.
If your dongle was already on FW Ver LJ02 (as mine was when shipped) nothing should happen. Has anyone on a previous ASCD version seen it upgrade to LJ02?
You can check the latest version if you go into the app via settings > app manager and click on the app.

That's unrelated to the version of the firmware on the ASCD, which this app is apparently trying to update.

The Allshare Cast dongle software update app will update the firmware for those dongles that were on the old firmware. For everyone else on the latest firmware LJ02 it was a software update to version 1.2.2102
This is what it looks like.

Have you reset the update counter by using triangle away? Allshare cast wont work with a flash counter of 1 or above.

This. It's actually intentional (for better or for worse), as it's DRM related. We should just be glad Chainfire figured out the method behind "Triangle Away"!
Dear guys
I don't know if you know, but I just got caught off guard with the new update. It said it will install when the kindle is IDLE so I panicked. I did a factory reset and it got rid of the download, and still 13.3.2.2_user_322095220.
Please switch the net off kindles, but if you already have it downloaded do a reset! Of course it is a minor update, so I presume it wouldn't do much, and the exploit hopefully would work.
Remember: factory reset!
Doesn't matter. 99% of hdx users have gotten the forced update that blocks root anyway and AFAIK there is no new method.
I'm not factory resetting a device I can't root and have a custom recovery on anyway.

If you are still on version 14.3.1.0 and are rooted, then all you need to do is rename 2 files which has prevented me from updating and I'm able to use wifi all day long. If not rooted, go ahead and root offline, and then rename the 2 files.
rename otacerts.zip to otacerts.zip.old in /etc/security/
and rename com.amazon.dcp.apk to com.amazon.dcp.apk.old in /system/app/
I've done this on my 8.9, and still have root and am able to use wifi with no issues and have not been updated. I use my kindle daily on wifi. I tell my kindle to update and it says last update failed.
I've also installed Xposed and am using Google play store.
I'm looking forward to the newer updated software versions being rooted, so that we can go ahead and get the bootloader unlocked.

Can someone explain me why my kindle updated while it was in airplane mode?
I did a factory reset today and just connected to wlan to download some apps. I checked the settings and didn't see any updates downloading. Said my device already has the newest update while it was on 13.3.2.2. I then deactivated wlan and set my device to airplane mode. Now while my kindle was still on airplane mode, I got the message that it successfully updated to 13.3.2.3.2. What the duck is wrong with Amazon. Amazon became Hitler's stasi 2.0.

Well basically I think the way it works is that the kindle already downloaded the update, and the updated when idle. However this is a minor update- nothing to worry about. Just block the download sources on your router and forget about it!!!

Well considering they haven't released the root yet if it exists.... For the last one. The only people that would know are ones who have been able to test it.. It would be kind of hard for the masses to know the definite answer to that... But allegedly yes the new update will patch that allegedly possible root exploit. That allegedly exist.... That currently I'm sure hundred of tablets are sitting on airplane mode in a desk drawer awaiting for.... So Innoway those who wish to have access roots are paying a price to gain.. Because it is obvious to me the gods are not willing to release yet.

By the way people do do not download either of these on to your Kindle. Your tablet will find them and will apply them anywhere you put them.. So in other words if you have the OTA blocked successfully. And you download one of these onto your tablet it WILL find and attempt update. Which as far as I know is exclusive to this tablet..
