Just tested my BT headset and the Mic works. My wife says there is more background noise with the bt headset when I test called her but unsure it thats rom related. I don't really use it that much so don't know if thats normal or not for this BT headset. Test it out and let me know.
Very interesting, I will give it a shot.
Nice to see you here and cooking too
awesome job Shep! let me know what i can do to help. i am working on a few things right now, and i will try to fit anything in you need. even if its just testing
welcome aboard. Glad to see this.
cool
does it lock the phone like the ji6 leak
Thanks Shep. I'll try this tomorrow
is everything working properly in this rom? wireless? 3g? bluetooth? all the buttons? headset jack?

That's a positive result; the mic on the non cooked combo we tried under the other thread made it sound like you were far away, mumbled, and like you're in a tunnel.
Next question: In the JPK ROM the Bluetooth Voice Commands worked - do they on this one? You should be able to use the headset to tell the phone to, for instance, "call mom". If it works, this is my next flash.
I'm concerned about the exchange issues seen in other leaked froyo rom builds.

i personally have not had this issue, but i have seen it reported on cog and on the leaked build. i would assume it has something to do with the exchange server you connect to. mine is working great and i have tested it on 3 different 2.2 setups with zero issues.

Good to know, I have a feeling the issue is from people using hosted exchange servers.
Found a bug in video player. I am fixing it and will have beta 2 up soon. Please wait to flash unless you want to help beta test.
great work.. i test the video and music player and both fc (when playing a file). this also happened when i was testing it with doc's deodex xxjpk rom a couple days ago. maybe its just me. still trying to find figure out the problem
i am flashing back to stock right now to do a master clear

This was not an issue on the JPK ROM. And, I did have the issue with all Cappy Froyo builds - from stock to Cog Beta 5.
---Edit---
See this post for information on issues we had in testing JI6/JPK (before this effort by Shep which put the JPK in the JI6 framework from Cog builds): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=798164
---Edit---
Unless the issue is related to the JI6 framework and not the native email app, which I don't think is the case.
Just thought of something....dammit I wont be able to download the beta2 because of the download restrictions on the host >.<

Pull the plug on your modem and/or router and you'll get a new IP from your provider, which is all that those sites check for.

ClockworkMod.
Does this have the captivate camera or the vibrant camera? I've heard of vibrant users loading the captivate camera but never dug deeper to find out why.
Also, has anyone here flashed this yet? Eugene's roms are supposed to be pretty good. I'm debating on installing this or waiting for a froyo rom.

I really want to, but he hasn't answered my question about kernel flashing yet
edit: in the change log it says "includes stock kernel" which I assume is just a part of the direct copy/paste from the vibrant thread, so is therefore the stock vibrant kernel... meaning that there is a kernel flash to which we could theoretically follow up with an SRE flash
FYI It does have the autorotate but so you have to go into settings and uncheck orientation under sound and display
Edit: I am guessing I need to install vibrant drivers?

if you could, try following it up with an SRE flash (which I believe will change the notification bar) or flash the stock captivate kernel with odin (which won't have a working mobile AP or overclock)
You might want to try flashing a stock captivate kernel on top of it, or if he's got the lagfix baked in you might want to use unhelpful's kernel so that it maintains init.d support. I'm still working on flashing back to try this so I can't say for sure =P
Trying SRE right now, will report back momentarily
So don't think that worked, Linpack scores of 7.6 which is much lower than it should be, lag is unbelievable and I can't get adb to recognize my phone anymore, making it pretty close to unusable...going back to JH3 until smarter people than I can figure something out...
One more thing, this worked as advertised until I tried SRE, but just with the known issues of using a vibrant kernel in the captivate
I don't know if I've ever hit F5 this many times back to back, come on crop and Zilch!
Let me know how this works... I can change out what ever need edited, but I don't have an at&t phone to further fix things...

I believe the only thing that would really need to be fixed (according to crop) would be to use either the stock kernel (http://koush.tandtgaming.com//test/kernel-captivate-stock.tar.md5) or Unhelpful's kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=762171) instead of the vibrant kernel

okay.. Thanks...
but, my understanding is it works fine with the kernel that is pre-included.
just finished flashing and phone booted up will update soon.
initial reaction phone is quite slow , lots of lag
just performed a factory reset now and check it out.
also it takes more time than usual while booting at the Samsung logo.
I just flashed XWJM7, then Unhelpful's kernel (v1.1 via Odin), and then a repackaged version of Vibrant-Hybrid, removing the kernel specific stuff from the update-script.
All is working fine so far.
Great job Eugene!

he said there's a bug with auto-rotation (we get this bug using the i9000 kernels too because apparently we're all about using anything but the AT&T ROM) and I'm willing to bet he didn't test the bluetooth which is also another common problem area when not using the captivate kernels
It does work fine, the only thing you need to do is turn off auto rotate =P Haven't tried GPS though. Also I just flashed the JG8 modem file to this for HSUPA lovin'
GPS starts, but I'm indoors and it's midnight so I'm not going out for a stroll to test if it gets a lock =P
This should make life a little easier for those who want to use an I9000 kernel.
As always, install at your own risk, I am not responsible for any damages.
This kernel was compiled from the I9000 source with the initramfs of the I9000XWJM7 kernel.
Whats included:
-Correct Screen auto-rotate
-HSUPA support
-MobileAP support (aka wireless tethering)
-Selecting with power button in recovery mode
-External SD card support
-Postboot scripts
-Voodoo lagfix
-Softkey Backlight Notification
What is out of scope:
-Overclocked kernel, I personally have not seen a need to change the clock speed.
Kernel can be installed via ClockworkMod Recovery.

-Can be disabled by creating the file: /sdcard/disablepostboot (useful if you want to review the scripts before allowing them to run)

So I can flash JM7 and then add this kernel?
Does BT voice work on this? How about HSUPA? I am assuming they do as you say voice and data, but looking for confirmation.
Great work anyway - it is nice to know we can without captivate kernel. Now if Froyo Kernel can be fixed we can really rock.
Thanks!
so in a nutshell,
HSUPA works with voice and data, Bluetooth with stereo audio, auto rotate.
What about volume control and the speaker and headphone jack logic?
P.S.
Does this also allow HSUPA with 850 MHZ band?
Edited, nevermind

interesting work! I'll try it out later, perhaps you should talk to Unhelpful about incorporating his init.d startup scripts to get MobileAP functioning again
edit: can anyone confirm if GPS is working with this kernel? using other kernels with JG8 modem tends to kill GPS

hope you know how to use adb then else the backup to the computer would only be helpful when the phone boots into the homescreen. anything less and you would have to learn to use adb to push stuff to the root of your sdcard to be able to access it in recovery or clockwork recovery

I would simply Odin back to a working model and then copy/bluetooth back to my phone. Easier. Assuming that 1 clockwork backup image stays good =)
and besides, from reading the forums here alone i could have learned about the adb push or pull commands =)
[ROMs][GPL] Tenzo's Stock "Plain" HTC 2.1 ROMs - 2.37.605.4 w/JulyOTA [10-01-10]
Many of my recent efforts have lead me to take a few steps back in discovering a few things (does that makes sense?). In working on fixes for 3GP Vanilla MMS and the 50% TWS "issue" I have put these together.
Should hopefully help others, especially those new to cooking that want an easy, trouble free base to start with (no "extra fonts" and no "updating" the JulyOTA manually).

I just flashed this and now I am having troubles getting wi-fi to work. Whenever I try to enable it, I get an error saying "Unable to start wi-fi". I wasn't having any problems previously with any roms and I just did a full wipe from KaosFroyo V35. Any ideas?

THIS HAS BEEN FIXED... SO PLEASE IGNORE THIS POST (UNLESS OF COURSE YOU DL'ED BEFORE I FIXED THE LINKS)

SORRY BOUT THAT!!!
I have the same problem on Tenzo-Official2.1-JulyOTA-Root.
Why don't you just flash PlainJaneT2 which is total Stock with A2sd, and are able to enable JIT through a2sd with By typing "a2sd jit"
Everything works, on it is pretty fast for a HTC rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=718092
Just wondering Why you made another rom thats already out there...
I didn't mean to take over the thread just curious what the difference between PlainJane and this.
Another question is if you tested wired tether?
Because if you just dropped it in the rom I CAN GUARANTEE that it is not working, thats why I didn't add it to the rom, And If you did get it to work can you tell me how you did it?
If you included SETCPU i suggest you take it off if you don't want to have problems with the SETCPU developer later in the future..... A Member has been kicked because he included apps that developers had told him to get rid of.
This has the newest build of 2.1 by HTC. And wired tether has been updated to work on the Eris and incredible. Plainjane, even though it is older than this and T2 is still better for those who do jot care about JIT or A2SD. I've tried both as well as this and jcase's Rom features the most free memory. I uninstall a lot of stock apps and then add maybe 25-30mb of market apps. Plainjane left new with 95+mb free. This and T2 leave me with roughly 70mb.

this is completely stock... no extra scripts, no extra fonts, no a2sd, etc. it's stock... with july OTA integrated and deodexed. that's all i did. can you point out where the other completely stock ROM with JulyOTA integrated is? If i missed it, i apologize. again... other than not trashing bootloader, recovery, etc, it's as "stock" as it gets. no symlinks changed in update-script, etc. again, this is the only stock ROM w/July OTA integrated that i've seen on the forum. did i miss something? (Official Obsession is close... but that requires you flash over the update. not easy for beginning cooks trying to customize a ROM... and it's not deodexed)
the "other" 2 ROMs are different as well... one is almost stock, with just latest ChainsDD superuser (root) added (no a2sd), with Conap's CFS kernel. the other is the same, with latest a2sd added (which allows the ability to add cache2cache as well).
i've enjoyed PlainJaneT2... and it is still my base for TT2.1. i've given full props to you with links and request even for donations in that thread. if i've upset you, again, i apologize.
also, no "extra" apps (setcpu, etc) are included... i know the rules
i'm not trying to "ruin" any experience for anyone... or step on anyone's toes. i'm just trying to help out and contribute. certainly have never tried to upset anyone on this forum EVER!

one thing you can do with a2sd 2.7.5.1 is run the cache on the cache partition.
adb remount
adb shell
a2sd cachepart
when it's done, it will reboot the ROM. pull the battery and clear dalvik (or else you'll get a few FC's when you reboot).
you can try the above with "a2sd cachepartreset" and it "should" clear dalvik for you... but it hasn't worked well for me

Why use this old 1.2 when the official 1.4 does it cleaner: http://code.google.com/p/android-wired-tether/
Perfect timing on this! My lady is techologically challenged and having a ROM like this is perfect. She kept busting my bawls about not having teeter... Every time I installed it via an APK it would always FC after a bit.
Edit this was on a different rom, so far only issue I've had with this rom is a FC when trying to auto-update google maps.

Like I said I was just asking and playing devils advocate I was gone for a month a half so I have no Idea of what happened I'm just catching up. Take no offense to what I said I was just curious.
first post updated w/new Cache2Cache version
Based on Bell I9000UGJK3 / BUJP8 modified by Idan73 (12/14/2010)
This is a Captivate port from Doc Froyo. This ROM is designed for Bell (i9000m) and it contains much fewer customizations compare to the Vibrant and Captivate from the USA.
UMTS and GSM 850Mhz is enabled by default, flashing modem seperately is not required.
This ROM has been modified from the original full ROM, it only contains stock apps similar to my other ROM releases.
Basic Features:
- Based on UGJK3 (Froyo 2.2)
- T959 TLJL3 Modem (Telus w/ HSUPA, HSDPA enabled)
- Deodexed
- Apps and framework optimized
- Rooted
- Busybox 1.17.3
- Zip-aligned
- Clockworkmod Recovery
- SetiroN SuperOptimized Kernel w/ ULK/OC/BLN support

- Big APN list
- WIPE installs, factory reset BEFORE 1st install recommended

- Segue font
Extra in BUJP8_v9_Bell_Idan73_Special (full wipe rom)
- Will wipe /data so make backups, do not restore system backups.
- Canadian modem
- Canadian csc
- All google apps updated to latest version
- No aldiko or layar.
- Included bugfix (zipalign and fat)
- Changed build.prop for market fix
- Added cradle and car cradle apps from canadian csc to system/apps without the need to do csc reset unless they choose to.

7b) Allow system to reboot again
8) Install Add-On via CWM Recovery if needed (Must let the phone boots at least once)

AT&T users should check this out as I *think* this should solve the data connectivity, reception issues. Also this one is slim and fast because this rom is "very vanilla/virgin" compare to current AT&T's leak Froyo.
Spent a few hours putting them together, checking out the extra Bell's apps, testing them... I was amazed how fast this thing runs compare to the i9000 release. 850Mhz is on by defaults and phone calls now do not produce a buzzing noise.
I'm guessing you have good results using this on Fido?
I'm tempted to try this one out.. I'll definitely flash it in a couple of days (after using axura)

I have no data plan (i am using grand-fathered plans), but I am seeing HSDPA and 3G data icons.
I am quite happy with the result so far.
Was so going to flash this. My external speaker just shut off for no reason a few days ago, and I have reflashed to stock JF6 and master cleared and then wiped all manually for good measure, reformatted SDcard . . .
I still might, if the download links ever appear to me. Breath bated.
had to do some serious looking into this one since im using your current i9000 v8 release killer and im kinda stuck. basically id like to know from anyone else is it really feeling that much more snappy/responsive and 2 is the new email client worth anything? im feeling pretty good where im at now but hey if its better i might jump onto this

Hello. Do we have the issues with wired headsets? Thank you.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
It's not compatible with any of the skins and themes I've tried. They all have odd quirks with button text. Like for example the "Clear" button in the notifications panel. It just has random characters on most themes.
Just little stuff like that. I see lots of little improvements scattered all over the place though. And Media apps like the video player seem to have better CPU focus than on other ROM's. Where other ROM's would stutter with sound or have an occasional stutter in video, this ROM played flawlessly.
I'll let you know if I see anymore.
I think I have a problem with 850 MHZ here. Callers go straight to voicemail. My phone rings once then nothing.
Looks interesting... I'm presently on Docs v8 with Andro Galassia V2 theme, SetiroN1.3.5, JK3 modem with ext4/ext4/ext4/ext2/ext2/ext2/false lagfix and its very stable and very quick. Does anyone know yet if this offers much more?

no problem here in San francisco/oakland area. i locked to 850mhz 3G, the phone rings fine!
Wired headset will ALWAYS have issues until one of the dev could figure out how to work with the codec.
Most themes out there will not work because I noticed the file size of framework-res.apk is quite a bit different than JP5/JPM/JPO ones. I didn't look into the changes but if you load the themes from other framework, the phone will looks very funny.
My phone works great in Vancouver, can receive calls/texts.
I suppose this build should be 95% similar to Doc's i9000m, just that this one is dedicated for North America phones to resolve modem issues. I would NOT assume this is the final release, but 2.2 for Bell is suppose to be due soon.
DG is making a new ROM based off I9000UGJK3 too, let's see what he is cooking later today.
How is gps with this? Please don't get upset at me for asking...I am just curious how it compares to other roms out there right now.

Instructions
Recommended:
1. Backup all of your apps, photos, etc. Use Titanium Backup (on the market) for your apps. Put the TitaniumBackup folder on your computer, along with your photos and such.
2. Using Odin, flash back to stock JF6. If your phone has 3-button problems use this Odin. This mostly effects 1008 phones (check under your battery).
3. Using Odin, Master Clear THIS DELETES EVERYTHING ON YOUR PHONE, INCLUDING THE INTERNAL SD CARD.
4. Root your phone. I use this one click.
5. Install Rom Manager from the market. Using this, install Clockwork Mod recovery.
1. Transfer Assonance_x.x.zip to your SD Card.
2. Reboot into Clockwork Mod recovery and flash Assonance_x.x.zip
3. Following installation, reboot the phone.
4. It will say "Config files differ". Choose "Yes, with backup and restore". Wait for it to complete.
5. Allow the phone to boot. This will take an abnormally long time. Somewhere between 2 and 4 minutes. The dots will not stop for any period longer than 10 seconds.
6. Allow the phone to establish a data connection. This will take longer than normal, and should be done within a minute or two.
7. Restore apps with Titanium Backup, add your photos, etc.
8. Enjoy for 15 minutes before caving to your insatiable ROM Flashing obsession.

Ack... Charging phone now... been itching for this
JM9 already included with AOSP icons..this is sooo tempting.
I'll give it a run.....I will report back tomorrow and let you know my day goes.
holy ****, this looks amazing! would the rom run properly if i were to remove the normal email app(who doesn't use gmail) and the task manager
I like what you've included in this rom and its' visual. Any bugs like wired headset not working?
I will try this later
Just flashed this, Working smooth!
