Can somebody repackage the n1 mms app under a different name so I can install it on a non rooted g2 and use it?
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
What's the difference? I'd love to put Cyanogenmod 6 on my MT3G, but the contact-pictures-in-the-thread really bothers me to a huge extent... so much so that I flashed back to CM5.
I am hoping that if I used the N1 MMS app for texting, when I get MMS with pictures I don't get a slide show, and I dont send a side show when sending a single picture.

does anyone know if its possible without complete root to replace that slow ass cooliris gallery and replace it with the swift htc stock one? or is it even possible at all? thanks, veritasaequita
i just tried and it failed to install, anyone know any tricks?
It is possible to port that over but you need full perm root on your g2. It is easy to perm root it. just do that and send me a message and ill help you.
You need root and just to let you know cm roms load the gallery instantly.

What he said, and if you root, you can load up Enomther's rom and that gives you the option to remove the stock gallery and replace it with the HTC gallery with just the click of a button.
Im rooted... but idk what u guys are refering to. I do hate how slow the stock gallery is. Can I use a different one?

Those commenting about the slow gallery - do you have a large amount of photos on there? I have very few, but the gallery works fine...
Yes, it does get slow when you have a lot of images. I like the 3d gallery BUT it *is* slow when you have a lot of pics. I am debating on going to the stock htc gallery but I haven't decided yet, and I may as well wait for the cm6.1 official release rather than rc4.
Hi. I recently installed CM 7.0 and I'm getting low quality pictures on my contacts. Is this normal behavior on stock roms? I didn't have this issue with mysense or sense roms.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Yeah, at least for me, it was normal. When I had CM 6.1.1 on my G2 before I switched, the contact pictures when someone called looked like ****. Even if I synced that contact with their Facebook profile, it still looked bad.
Yep, I noticed this as well when I first got my HTC Glacier, running stock ROM. I'm on Ice Glacier v1.1.4 right now and I see the same thing. Granted, IG is still the *same as stock, to a degree. It looks like the same 50 x 50 thumbnail they use for the feed and use that for the image when someone calls.
I have a problem with low quality mms. I can't read text on pics sent to me.

Doesn't Facebook lower the image quality. I've noticed that when I dl a pic from Facebook to my computer its not as good as say an original that was emailed to me.

now yes i searched the threads and couldnt find anything.
on my nexus s that i just got recently, i cant type more than 160 characters in a message..it stops. on my evo shift for sprint, i could just keep typing and send long messages but the reciever would just get multiple messages. thats how it should be. now with out rooting and without downloading something like handcent, is there a way to send long messages ?
thank you.
Are you stock? What rom are you on.

I am new to the G2 and am trying to find a ROM that is lag free. Ive loved this phone but the lag i experience on the Messaging app. I am coming from the HTC ONE which was lag free but I love this phone other than this lag. Currently on CLeanRom but I was hoping someone could suggest some pros and cons or make any suggestions to give me the best experience possible on this device..

1 try hangout app for sms works smooth here.
2 try to use lagfix app feels much better here after.
I use Textra in all my phones. Super smooth sms and mms. It's very light weight, but fully featured. Has one of the better pop-up options too.

Textra all the way!:good:
There's a app called 8sms on the play store which is a slightly modified CM messaging app, doesn't get much faster and simple than stock or at least stock style.
Anyone have issues when sending an MMS the pic quality is awful?

It's becasue AT&T compresses teh crap out of MMS - try using a different app that will let you ovveride the standard mms size - I know Textra lets you go upto 1mb pics

Thank you! Using 8sms now and does it too. I'll try another.
I noticed the same thing. But the videos looked a lot worst when send as MMS.
Yeah it's really aggravating. I really don't like the camera already so this actually makes it worse. I have till tomorrow to return it. Have to decide quick lol
