wow, this looks like the tool / program I've been looking for! Way more complete than any other program, better interface... And everything seems to work, besides the syncing of the phonebook ...
Anybody else receive the error: "Obex protocol could not be initialized! OBEX Error:"
Edit + Solution:
Aah, I found the answer already via the forum from FJ Software! It probably had to do with the size of the database (many pictures). The problem disappeared for me when I installed the latest beta of their android app: http://www.fjsoft.at/mpeclient.apk

This program is working great for me, I love texting my messages on pc and then send it through my phone

beauty....
Hi people,
I was having that OBEX error until I got that client upgrade mentioned above.
This is an ace of a program...a BIG thank you!!

I’ve never heard of this before… Going to give a try.

I had same problem when I first downloaded(beta version 1.0, build 1.0.0.251) but when I went back to site next day they had new build(1.0.0.252). I downloaded this and now it syncs up. I'm not sure everything works because I couldn't drag cab files to application list, maybe on next build.
new update should fix your probs. see first post.
chief
How does this compare to my just purchased copy :-( of MissingSync
With the new update I got a new problem.
To sync with this program is no problem, but if I sync my calendar and go to ical, there are no dates.
yeah, at this time there are a few bugs with the ical plugin, so if you find a bug you should send them some infos about it wih their contact form on their page. and i think in a couple of week they can release the final.
mfg chief
now the newest version works perfect for me and my tytn, i can sync everything with ical and adressbook, i have osx.5.1. no probs at all, and much faster and better than missingsync. i hope some of you can help me to test this nice freeware to find all bugs, because this app is really useful.
regards, chief
I'm pretty satisfied with Missing Sync but I do have some small problems with it. I tried this free app some time ago but it didn't work at that time. I'd like to try again and will post my findings. Can anyone tell me if it's possible to sync more than 1 calendar? It seemed to me that you could only select 1 iCal calendar, which would be a huge dealbreaker for me.
Problem with my trinity
Does anybody archiv to make it work with an Trinity ?
I spend two evening on it without success
... and The Missing sync is not compatible with my Trinity / OS10.5 combo.

HTC Sync Update for HTC Aria 07.09.2010

HTC Sync™ lets you synchronize Outlook and Windows Address Book (Outlook Express), contacts and calendar events on your PC with your phone. It also lets you install third-party Android applications on the phone, and the Mobile Network sharing function as well.

I was thinking the same thing as i refuse to register my device just to download sync software, it was not like this when i downloaded HTC_Sync_2.0.38 a few weeks ago, and i can download HTC_Sync_2.0.40 without registering a serial easily and use it with no issues, matter a fact i was using HTC_Sync_2.0.40 to sync my outlook and calender even before HTC_Sync_2.0.38 was released so why make us register the device?

Ok, after using this new version i must say that its a step backwards. I like the new GUI and all the eye candy and the ability to install .APK files but it lacks the basic functionality that the HTC_Sync_2.0.38 had.
For instance the old version told you at a glance the number of contacts in outlook and events on the outlook calender, where it is at during the contact syncing and calender syncing. It also gave you more advanced options on syncing.
On this new version Outlook must be set as you default mail client for it to connect with it which is completely bogus. On first connect the device synced on it own using the latest modified data which created duplicated in outlook and my phone, deleted the duplicates from my phone and tried to sync again and it completely wiped the data from outlook, i used the nandroid to restore the contacts to the phone and tried to sync again to get everything back where it was.
A bit angry with the music syncing. The files sync to /Music/ then the full file directory. so if you music is stored in c/:users/username/my documents/music you media wll be synced in the same structure /Music/c/users/username/my documents/music which is more complex than it needs to be. A simple music folder with music/Artist/album is sufficient. Then it took 1 hour to sync 3.8GB of music, that same 3.8 GB takes less than 15 if i remove the card from the device and put in in the card reader.
Long story shorty, im reverting back to HTC_Sync_2.0.40. Sometimes less is more.
Funny that now the new sync is no longer availble on HTC site and the link was changed back to HTC_Sync_2.0.38
http://www.htc.com/us/support/aria-att/downloads/
Hmmm...
You probably want to get on the ball with finding this software as it really has been pulled from the site. Some people have upped the new version for download, so do a search, grab it while its hot and sit on it if you want to sideload with the software (without rooting).
Edit: You can grab it from this thread if you don't have it already

I downloaded this one, the one from HTC's site (before it was removed) and even tried the old version (.38) and NONE of them recognize my phone when I plug it in and tell the phone to use HTC Sync. The phone tries to find it running on my PC but can't. Any ideas? I'm running Win7 64.

Synching files via HTC Sync

Hi.
I have setup HTC Sync to sync a folder over to my DHD. However I found syncing files to be a bit quirky.
Docs created on the device are not synced to the PC, only the other way round.
Docs deleted on the device are not deleted on the PC, only the other way round. The doc that remains on the PC needs to be modified in order to sync back to the device - seems there is some sort of cache.
Is the above a bug of HTC Sync and is happening to other persons? Is to possible to get file synching as one would expect it to be, i.e. as I was accustomed through Activesync and Windows Mobile 6.5?
Thanks.
Bump...any feedback?
Is it possible that I am the only one to experience this issue? Any feedback from other users and possibly also help?
I'm beginning to think that I am the only one to use and experience this.
OK, perhaps it's not a high priority but nevertheless quite an annoyance considering the thing worked perfectly for years in Windows Mobile and Activesync.
I'd advise you to try MyPhoneExplorer.

Thanks. I'll check that out. Do you know if MyPhoneExplorer offers two-way sync with the DHD?
Back to my original problem I have since received feedback from HTC Support. They are claiming that HTC Sync offers a choice on the sync direction, either to the PC or to the DHD. I was not offered this choice when I installed HTC Sync on the PC and neither when connecting the DHD to the PC for the first time. To be sure of this I installed HTC Sync on a second PC and connected the DHD to this second PC. Again, no choice was ever offered.
I have written back asking for proof of this sync choice offer and will post back here any feedback received. In any case I have told HTC Support that if indeed HTC Sync only offeres one-way sync then it is indeed only a half-baked solution.

I got the same problem.
Did you ever find a solution besides MyPhoneExplorer?
I'm still corresponding, sort of, with HTC. My support request was routed to HTC Italy who asked me to rewrite the request in Italian. Fortunately that was not a problem for me.
Since then there has been much to-and-fro between me and HTC with them asking me to do things that had nothing whatsoever to do with my problem. As an example they kept asking me questions as to the version of Outlook I have even though I am not syncing any contacts or calendar. They even asked me to if my problem was if I could not install HTC Sync, and another time said that one-way sync is all that HTC Sync was and during installation of the latter on the PC one is asked in which direction should the one-way sync work. All this is quite a load.
In my last communucation a couple of days ago I asked them for a clear explanation and solution, failing which I will escalae the matter through other HTC channels.
EDIT: I have not installed or tried to use MyPhoneExplorer. I expect the matter to be resolved by HTC and MyPhoneExplorer is only a last resort.
Thanks Leon.
It looks like they giving you the run around.
Keep me posted if you come right.
I will let you know if I find a solution.
thanks again

HD2 Gingerbread vs HTC Sync

Hi,
I am not sure if someone else asked this question. I updated my phone to Nand Gingerbread. Everything works great. However, the major problem I am having is that HTC Sync (on Win7 laptop) does not recognize the device.
In the previous Android (2.2), when we used to connect it to the PC, many options would appear to identify the type of the connection. One of those options was "HTC Sync". Choosing this option used to allow HTC Sync software on the windows pc to recognize the device and sync its contents.
However, in Gingerbread I cannot find anyway to connect my HD2 in a "sync" mode in order to allow HTC Sync to recognize it.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
htc sync requires htc sense.

Thank you so much. This application seems very useful.
Anyways, my problem is that before I flash my HD2 to Gingerbread, I had Froyo Sense, and I synchronized all my contacts to HTC Sync on my PC, and now after I flashed I found that I cannot get those contacts back...
So I guess my only solution is to flash back to Froyo Sense, get those contacts, sync them using MyPhoneExplorer, and then Flash again to Gingerbread.
Thanks for the help everybody.

HTC Sync uses outlook, you need to look in the setting in the app, you can re-sync your outlook contacts with this program. Thats what its meant for also.

You have to install the tool on your win7 from here.
After that install My Phone Explorer Client from the Market. Connect your phone via WLAN or USB and start the Client on the phone. After that start the app from your win7 and set up your sync source (Outlook/Windows Contacts/Gmail/only MyPhoneExplorer) in settings or via new phone assistent.
You can now sync Contacts/Appointments/SMS/Files/Tasks and Notes (new with separate phone app).
It's the first sync solution where you can sync outlook tasks and notes, I love the tool.

no its not a market app as such!
its a pc application to manage either your SE/SMART ANDROID phone with ... you run the pc app and connect via wifi/bluetooth/usb etc to your smartphone and can sync backup transfer files download files etc to your computer
if via android it can be done by the APK supplied thats in the installation folder of the pc application copy it to your Android and install it with a file manager like any other application ... once installed (for wifi) turn your wifi on and launch the app on your phone then launch the app on your pc and click connect
instructions are in the program and on the website/blog mentioned above
the easiest way is on you pc/laptop go to: http://www.fjsoft.at/en/ and download the version 1.8.1 and on your android go to the market and search for myphone explorer and install it.
if your using wifi just run the app on your phone first and you pc/laptop should find the client in your network
No plans to support Linux?
