I wonder if maybe this will allow me to root my ARIA? the 2.0.38 or however they show the version numbers had not been seeing my phone no matter what I tried.

I didn't see anything about that in the software. Where is it?
I can not find the software for htc synch for my aria and not much info on the phone even on htc's website.
they change the info on it. has anyone download it sense they change the info to see if they took out this stuff. " It also lets you install third-party Android applications on the phone, and the Mobile Network sharing function as well."

I was thinking the same thing as i refuse to register my device just to download sync software, it was not like this when i downloaded HTC_Sync_2.0.38 a few weeks ago, and i can download HTC_Sync_2.0.40 without registering a serial easily and use it with no issues, matter a fact i was using HTC_Sync_2.0.40 to sync my outlook and calender even before HTC_Sync_2.0.38 was released so why make us register the device?

Ok, after using this new version i must say that its a step backwards. I like the new GUI and all the eye candy and the ability to install .APK files but it lacks the basic functionality that the HTC_Sync_2.0.38 had.
For instance the old version told you at a glance the number of contacts in outlook and events on the outlook calender, where it is at during the contact syncing and calender syncing. It also gave you more advanced options on syncing.
On this new version Outlook must be set as you default mail client for it to connect with it which is completely bogus. On first connect the device synced on it own using the latest modified data which created duplicated in outlook and my phone, deleted the duplicates from my phone and tried to sync again and it completely wiped the data from outlook, i used the nandroid to restore the contacts to the phone and tried to sync again to get everything back where it was.
A bit angry with the music syncing. The files sync to /Music/ then the full file directory. so if you music is stored in c/:users/username/my documents/music you media wll be synced in the same structure /Music/c/users/username/my documents/music which is more complex than it needs to be. A simple music folder with music/Artist/album is sufficient. Then it took 1 hour to sync 3.8GB of music, that same 3.8 GB takes less than 15 if i remove the card from the device and put in in the card reader.
Long story shorty, im reverting back to HTC_Sync_2.0.40. Sometimes less is more.
Funny that now the new sync is no longer availble on HTC site and the link was changed back to HTC_Sync_2.0.38
http://www.htc.com/us/support/aria-att/downloads/
Hmmm...
You probably want to get on the ball with finding this software as it really has been pulled from the site. Some people have upped the new version for download, so do a search, grab it while its hot and sit on it if you want to sideload with the software (without rooting).
Edit: You can grab it from this thread if you don't have it already

I downloaded this one, the one from HTC's site (before it was removed) and even tried the old version (.38) and NONE of them recognize my phone when I plug it in and tell the phone to use HTC Sync. The phone tries to find it running on my PC but can't. Any ideas? I'm running Win7 64.

My contacts are stored in Windows Contact Book(My Documents>Users>MYUSERNAME>Contacts) HTC Sync provided with DHD wouldn't copy them to my phone, so I just installed HTC Sync 2.xx from Legend/Hero and it worked.
It's a good point actually.
If you have your contacts in outlook, then when you install HTC Sync from the phone it will copy all your contact details to the phone automatically.
I learnt that the hard way by syncing with my work computer and having nearly 5000 contacts copied to my phone. I had to yank the power quickly and hard reset before it tried to sync it all to gmail!

OK, I'm a newb to Android so I'm not sure I understand what you're discussing here.
Should I install HTC Sync 3.0 from the HTC website or is there a better way to get it working? The Desire HD isn't (yet?) shown in the list of compatible handsets on the HTC website for that version.
On the included SD-cart there is the program HTC Sync 3.0. You can copy the file to your computer and install it there. Works fine and you can synchronise all the contacts in outlook.

Thank you.
I've imported my contacts already via Google so that bit is OK. Has anybody had success importing the calendar entries onto the Desire HD?
Edit: OK, I had a go and yes: it's synchronised the calendar entries. But only back a month. Is there a way to extend the range so that the whole calendar is synchronised?
Edit 2: I tried something else. I don't think HTC Sync will do what I want. I'm moving from Windows Mobile/Outlook to Google/Android so I figured I really only need a one-time synchronisation. I found that Google has their own sync tool:
http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?answer=98563
It's not compatible with the version of Outlook I'm using (2002) so I found other software called CompanionLink:
http://www.companionlink.com/android/outlook/
They offer a free 14-day trial of their sync software with which I'm uploading my entire Outlook calendar to Google and it's syncing with my phone in front of me. That's all I needed - I don't think I want to sync my Outlook calendar in the future since I won't be using Windows Mobile again. Time will tell if I'm right.
Howdy!
I'm currently running the roms in my sig. I'm absolutely loving the americandroid (even though I'm not american! ), but I have a problem.
My previous android installation used HTC Sense and HTC Sync. This build doesn't have those, thus I can't sync my phone with my outlook.
I've exported from outlook and imported to Gmail, but it's very inconvenient having to do that every time something changes.
Is there a way to automatically sync my phone with outlook when cradled? If not, perhaps to autosync outlook to google? I've been looking for this for weeks, but haven't yet found a permanent solution. Please suggest!
Thanks in advance!
Just to make sure, you want to sync outlook as a stand alone client or is it apart of an Exchange combination?
In 'accounts & sync' there should be 'corperate email', just follow the input screens & you should have it on your mobile - I currently have it setup to sync email, calendar, and contacts.
If it's the later option you can use Google Sync I believe

Use MyPhone Explorer. It can sync via USB or WLAN. Install the actual version via market on the phone and install it on Pc. It's better than HTC Sync, because you can filter items and choose a different contact/calender folder.

You sir, are my hero!
Hi,
I am not sure if someone else asked this question. I updated my phone to Nand Gingerbread. Everything works great. However, the major problem I am having is that HTC Sync (on Win7 laptop) does not recognize the device.
In the previous Android (2.2), when we used to connect it to the PC, many options would appear to identify the type of the connection. One of those options was "HTC Sync". Choosing this option used to allow HTC Sync software on the windows pc to recognize the device and sync its contents.
However, in Gingerbread I cannot find anyway to connect my HD2 in a "sync" mode in order to allow HTC Sync to recognize it.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
htc sync requires htc sense.

Anyways, my problem is that before I flash my HD2 to Gingerbread, I had Froyo Sense, and I synchronized all my contacts to HTC Sync on my PC, and now after I flashed I found that I cannot get those contacts back...
So I guess my only solution is to flash back to Froyo Sense, get those contacts, sync them using MyPhoneExplorer, and then Flash again to Gingerbread.
Thanks for the help everybody.

You have to install the tool on your win7 from here.
After that install My Phone Explorer Client from the Market. Connect your phone via WLAN or USB and start the Client on the phone. After that start the app from your win7 and set up your sync source (Outlook/Windows Contacts/Gmail/only MyPhoneExplorer) in settings or via new phone assistent.
You can now sync Contacts/Appointments/SMS/Files/Tasks and Notes (new with separate phone app).
It's the first sync solution where you can sync outlook tasks and notes, I love the tool.

no its not a market app as such!
its a pc application to manage either your SE/SMART ANDROID phone with ... you run the pc app and connect via wifi/bluetooth/usb etc to your smartphone and can sync backup transfer files download files etc to your computer
if via android it can be done by the APK supplied thats in the installation folder of the pc application copy it to your Android and install it with a file manager like any other application ... once installed (for wifi) turn your wifi on and launch the app on your phone then launch the app on your pc and click connect
instructions are in the program and on the website/blog mentioned above
the easiest way is on you pc/laptop go to: http://www.fjsoft.at/en/ and download the version 1.8.1 and on your android go to the market and search for myphone explorer and install it.
if your using wifi just run the app on your phone first and you pc/laptop should find the client in your network
No plans to support Linux?

Newer version available 1.8.2
After I installed the one I downloaded from the website the version says 1.8.2
I think this is the latest version...
First thing I noticed was the separate tab for Phone and Google contacts...
I bought the phone last night and already spent 5 unsuccessful hours trying to connect to my PC, have it recognized, and sync contacts/email. All I get are error messages.
1. Anyone want to tell me why there is no software available to download on the phone's product page - samsung.com/us/support/do...SGH-T959ZKATMB ? I tried Kies Mini (update), that works fine. It would be freaking nice to put the main Kies app there.....unless of course it's not supported?
2. I downloaded Kies 2.0 from somewhere else on Samsung's website. Installed drivers, which initially failed (it pointed to my Netgear Wireless Router for some reason - WTF DOES THE PHONE HAVE TO DO WITH M ROUTER), I had to enable Windows Update, and then it was a success. I connect my phone via USB, the only 3 options I have are Kies (firmware update), Media Player, Mass Storage. There is no option just for the normal Kies. So I select Kies (firmware update), and Kies tells me "Kies 2.0 does not support my device".
I've done a lot of Googling and I'm just frustrated now. I unmounted, and removed the 2GB Samsung SD Card (default) already. What the hell else do I have to do now?
I've had mine for 6 mobths and only connected once. Good luck buddy I'm interested in responses.

How did you buy the phone without data? Assuming you didn't buy it from tmo? If you have the contacts on another phone you can take it up to your local tmobile store, ask if they can transfer everything with the cellebrite if they have one, I think every store does.
what format are your contacts in? You can copy them to your sim card and move them over. Contacts has an import from sd card feature. Also, google contacts will sync to the phone, but my google contacts are so cluttered from years of gmail I don't use it. There are apps for email, but the gmail one is good enough for me

Could you explain what it is that you need? If it's just contacts, use google contacts so it syncs automagically.

Yes, I can see. Samsung software is terrible in general. I have no luck with Samsung....no luck at all.
What I need right now is some way to import all my contacts into the phone. It looks like I'll have to manually input all the contacts whichever path I choose...I'd like to use Outlook 2007, but gmail may be my only option...I have a gmail account but I only use it to forward my ISP emails there...
Aside from contact synchronization, I would have also liked to use Kies for music/video/applications as well but I guess I'm SOL now. What do you guys recommend? I don't have data but I have WIFI at home.
If you have Wifi connection them i will suggest android manager a free product. I am using it for last 3 months as Kies alternative.

Android manager is the best bet also, if you go to the TMO or some store that carries a nokia phone they are usually helpful about copying contacts from one format to another... as long as you have them on a sd card. You may need to bribe them with a chocolate chip cookie .....

THAT I can help with. Load it to your Windows Contacts and then export it to vCard and then put that on your Vibrant (if it connects but without Kies, I think you should at least be able to use it as a drive, or just remove the microSD, put that in the SD adapter and put that in your computer and then save it to there there) Import the file into your contacts after getting it on your Vibrant some how.

Kies - Vibrant
I use Kies version 1.5.3.1009_82 successfully to sync between my Vibrant and Outlook. There are other versions available, but the newer ones have not proven to work for me. That said, I've not yet used Kies 2.0, so anyone having experience with that version and US Galaxy phones, please comment.
Good luck,

Worked for me, thanks. Don't like how the PC Software imports all my contacts from GMAIL though...arghh
Anyone know if we can somehow set up POP3 with our ISP emails for Android? I don't think I'll be making the transition to public email anytime soon..

Set it so it only shows contacts with phone numbers in the contact book.

You can try a manual set up once you put the account name and password into Android's email client and then follow the ISP's instructions for normal mail set up, relatively.

I've never had a problem with Kies... I updated at one point and lost all ability to connect. I uninstalled and reinstalled my old version; luckily I held on to the .exe I've never attempted to update again. I really have no reason to. Maybe there are just some compatibility issues with the newer versions of Kies.
I'm currently running v1.5.1.10074_45
Is there even a way to post that setep file on here? Maybe I could send email it to somebody that can post it on here?
Just a thought. I'm not really sure what the problem is either. -j
Kies - Vibrant
I'll be happy to send a file of the Kies version that works for me for syncing between Vibrant and Outlook. I don't think we can post the attachment on this forum, so you'd need to contact me.
Good luck,
