I mean Nandroid.....is it include all data of sd-card ??
Nope, it backs up the whole rom/system on the phone, it does not backup the sdcard. I'm kinda glad it does'nt with a 16gb card, the backup would be huge

Good evening.
I made a nanroid backup under the assumption that it backed up everything. (including files on SD) is this a correct to assume?
After parting the sd card for App2sd I discovered my photos were gone. I went to run recovery and recovered but no picture files...
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. It wiped out all my other backups that were stored on SD.

Its not good to assume. Lesson learned.... Partitioning, not parting, will erase EVERYthing on what you are partitioning. Sorry bro, they are gone. Im not sure if a partition will overwrite the old data, or just delete the record of it. If it's the latter of the two i would get that SD card into a disk utility program asap. Every time something new is written to the card though the less likely you are to get any of the data back.
So now you know...
1. nandroid only backs up the phone itself.
2. you should backup your sd card to your computer
3. dont assume
and last but not least...
4. if you have never done anything like this, make sure you read ALL the steps first...
Oh boy. Yes those are gone. Nandroid only backs up the phone image to the sd card, not the phone image + the sd card itself. Formatting erases everything like he said. Assumptions are always good to make.
It was parting
No...it was partitioning.

A little confused here and not that knowledgeable.
Switched my SD cards from a class 2 to a class 6.
I have the paid version of Titanium backup.
Here is what I did:
1. Complete (apps+data) Titanium backup
2. Nandroid + ext backup
3. Copied to computer hd
4. partitioned new card
5. Nandroid restore
(Note: Neither one backed up my photos/vids/music that I can find) But I did copy them to the hd and restored them so no biggie.
So.. should I do a complete Titanium restore now?
The reason I am asking this: All of my apps seemed to be working fine, however, I am not seeing any of the apps on my sd card as I did previously.
Thanks.
edit: just realized you were using apps2sd, so yeah i think you'll have to partition new card and put the image on your new card, then do a nandroid restore, no need for TI.
brentmel said:
TI just backs up your application apks and associated settings stored in the phones data folder (root required). Nandroid makes an image of your phones internal rom. Anything on your sd card can be backed up with copy and paste on any computer.
There is no need to use TI or nandroid for swapping an sd card, only changing roms. You can swap your sd card out while your phone is running, nothing vital is stored there.

It is if you are using apps2sd... which I didn't put in the original post.

I have always restored my apps using titanium backup after flashing a rom. Now when I open titaniumbackup, I dont see the name of the app anymore.. I see "com.blabla.blabla.blabla" + when I try to restore my 95 apps, it restores in 3 seconds, and nothing happends.. I have installed busybox (click on the "problem" button)
Any fix for this ?

Not from cwm,but just replace the titanium backup zip to the root of your sd card, and the app will be able to find it...

I've got a folder and a zip called Titanium Backup on my sd card.
I am presuming that this is where the app saves its files.
If they are not there,it cannot restore anything.
Someone also had the same problem when they formatted their sd card, but didn't make a backup...
I have a folder called titaniumbackup on the root of my sd card, and all of the apps are inside there, but it still wont restore.. + it would usally recognize the name of the app.. but now it is showing "com.anddoes.fancywidget.pro-38ac4964313034e9cb560a0cd11cd623.apk.gz" ..

Mine says titanium backup(folder)
and titanium backup ZIP.
When I formatted my sd card these were the two that I restored, and everything works.
I am suggesting that if you didn't restore both to your sd card, therein lies the problem.

found it out I think.. I looked at some older backups.. they do all have a properties file.. while in this folder.. there are no properties file.. now I'm wondering how I am supposed to make a properties files out of them..
I guess I will restore that old backup, and put the apk.'s inside the apk.gz from the new backup and install them .. confusing lol

Hello
I've just made a nandroid backup from cwm recovery to my external sd card. I have the 32gb variant and the 16gb is used but my nandroid backup made by cwm is 3.8gb.. I've searched in the cwm menu for more options to backup my phone but i didnt see any. e.g. full backup etc. It only has backup and advanced restore? I think that the size of the backup would be 16gb.. Have I done something wrong?

Thank you for your advice. I will try Philz as soon as I can. I've customized my omega rom so much with xposed modules etc.. and it's the most beautiful customization I've ever done to my phone and I don't want to lose anything! It's my ideal customization! I've added some s5 features - icons etc and nova launcher with icon packs - played with dpi etc and it' very beautiful! Thank you even if it doesn't work. You've got +1 Thanks from me
If i understand you right, you want to make a backup of your sd card ? You can't do that with a recovery backup. And you don't need to. The rom isn't on the sd card. The 3.8 gb is just right, it made a backup of your rom, that's all you need. You can backup your card to your computer, if you want.
And btw, it's forbidden to bump up your thread in less than 24 hours. People are not just sitting here waiting to answer your questions. Patience.

If you are still unsure, the backup did backup everything (apps, settings, app settings...). It didn't backup your personal files (pictures, music, videos,...). That's not the purpose of recovery backups.
It makes an "image" of your current rom, your personal files it's best to backup them to your computer.

Please forgive me if this has been answered before but ive recently upgraded from the m7. nandroid backups used to be as simple as booting into recovery > backup > checking everything and pressing ok. However now it seems like theres a decryption encryption thing going on? is backing up now basically impossible unless u have an external sd card or can you still backup to phones internal memory?
afaik you can only backup to sdcard due to encryption issues.
