Of course it wont be OTA anymore but is there a way to manually install the update?
Someone who gets the ota has to dump it first. Then If there is anything different someone will make a make it a zip file.
You'll have to install via odin, but just check the thread in dev titled "stock flashable ji6 tar"

Does that require root?

Unroot for official or install a copy from the dev threads

Short answer; no. You don't need to unroot to update OTA if you're running a stock build. The update will cause you to loose root though.
Just to clarify for the sake of caution, I installed the leaked 2.2 update. Can I install the official build OTA or do I need to read up on Odin and manually update it? Thanks.

From what I've read, in order to flash the ota you have to have the stock recovery, so your options are to odin the modem and flash one of the roms through cwm -or- odin the entire .tar and then run the one-click-root.

Thanks. But I can use the one-click-root to root my phone again, right?

you could and it will work but why go through the extra work ??
use odin to update the modem (very easy) then go grab the ACS DK28 ROM. it's already rooted for you and it can be flashed via Clockwork .. very easy to do IMO.
I cound't update via kies.

He asked for a stock ROM, why suggest that?
You can find KA6 stock here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=919687
Apply using ODIN.
OP, not to sound rude... just look in the dev section for the ODIN and CWR flashable versions.

Just to back the OP a litte...
I'm not even sure what the stock 2.2 is. All this talk of KA6 and KA7 and on top of that all the leaked or not... and people tossing out flash this rom or flash that rom.. it gets confusing when your not used to this. If you go in to the developers section and look, nothing is labeled "stock 2.2 cwm flash able" and when you search for it, you get a bunch of old links to non official 2.2.
I never looked for it till OP asked. I'm happy with the rom im running right now, but I feel your confusion OP.
Edit:
There is also usually at least one clear cut thread on how to get the update and how to root the update. Maybe ill put this together.
yeah some people might need the stock rom to make warranty claims.
I would sure love to know why it is being said that KA7 is "official froyo OTA." I don't believe I have heard Samsung or T-mobile even mention KA7 so how would anyone know?
Again, this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=919687
contains the file to ODIN that will get you to exactly where you would get if you upgraded via mini kies.
In other words, ODIN that file and you will be on "current stock version"

So right now there is no flashable version of the official stock 2.2?
OK so i was reading this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=908451
and this might be a newb question: but how do i run this .zip with odin. He included some md5 code, but what do i do?
Also jsut checking, but this is the dl09 modem right and after flashing this, will i be able to install rom such as DL09 super clean 0.4 on it and after i install that rom, how do i know which themes work on that rom?
Thanks so much, trying to come out of newbhood, into haxorhood
PS Couldnt replly to thread so posting it here
If you don't know how to use it, you need to read more stuff about flashing roms etc, as there are instructions in several threads on how to flash files with Odin. If you can't figure out how to update, it is more likely that you'll end up bricking your phone than flashing it properly. In the end, if you can figure out how to flash it yourself, you'll learn invaluable information that could save you from future headaches or get you out of a jam.
Only odin .tar files there should only be one for dl09. the kernal and radio get flashed thru cwm hope this helps.

By the way there really isnt any themes for dl09. You can use dj05 themes if you flash theme fix for dl09 directly after flashing the dj05 theme.

I was wondering if I was rooted (overclocked) and I didn't get the OTA update for Gingerbread, is there any way I could get the official T-Mobile Gingerbread OTA from another source?
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
If you are rooted, why would you want the OTA?
But yes, you can download it. Download the OTA now from the dev section. And just save it on your PC till you need it.
And when I'm ready to flash it do I go through Bootloader without root?
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
The official ROM is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074391
But if you flash this, you will lose root, and not be able to root w/o downgrading (same as the OTA).
This one is rooted, and probably what you want to flash. Flash from ROM Manager or Recovery:

If you update, you will be forced to use safe strap to boot roms and will lose the ability to flash custom roms and recovery by using LOKI. If this means nothing to you, then there is a flashable ODIN stock 4.4.2 tar file you can download from this forum.

Oops I didn't see that. Yeah safe strap is all he can use. He has a different build number and baseband version too, which is odd. Aren't they supposed to be the same or near the same?
