Port kernel/ROM from Wildfire to Magic - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Hi,
Saw Froyo Wildfire kernel source code on HTC developer site. I just want to ask 2 things:
1/. Is there a chance we can benefit from this (port ROM/ kernel etc) and get a semi-official Sense ROM?
2/. Is it possible (regarding time/effort) to port this kernel to Magic?

I am wondering about the same thing. Is it possible? Maybe this thread should be moved to Development section.

Mytouch slide official port for fender/1.2

Does anyone have plans to port the official release mytouch slide rom to the fender/1.2?
Check the G1 forums; full fender/1.2 support is integrated into cyanogen's source code and most other devs use his kernel or a modified version of it; there's a couple decent ports so far.
Mod. edit: not dev related, moved to general

[DEV] AOSP Gingerbread ROM thoughts - NOT A ROM THREAD

I've been pondering this for a while. This thread serves as a thinking ground until the official AOSP Gingerbread Sources are released.
As a HD2 Android community, once Gingerbread is up on it's git source, why doesn't one brave soul go ahead and download the source, and build it so it's completely stock (aka generic) with no mods, just directly from the source, and then release it as a "ROM Starter", meaning that devs that are wanting to sink their teeth into a working Gingerbread base can download that ROM, add their own sprinkle of seasoning (custom apps and the like) and bake it even more.
The person who baked the original ROM would be thanked and all that jazz. This would save a lot of time and effort having to download compilers, and all that stuff just to make a HD2 Gingerbread ROM.
In other words, make a ROM base that we can do our own spin-offs on it for example, you might see:
m-deejay NitrousBread
darkstone SpicyGingerBread
...etc.
Which are based on the generic ROM that the brave soul compiled. I'm sure they'll be famous as well
So yeah, that's my two cents. Your opinions?
Yes I agree. I was thinking we should have a base ROM just like in Nexus S, without any mods or tweaks and etc. A Plain vanilla stock Android 2.3 Gingerbread ROM. Then from there devs are welcomed to make changes and etc.

[Q] Newest Codename Android 1.6.0 Version

Hi,
I can't post my question in the thread of 'Codename Android 1.6.0', so I have to ask here. I want to know, where I can find the newest versions of the ROM (Codename Android 1.6.0). Are they shown in the Thread when they're out, or do I have to visit a specific page? The Thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1585905) doesn't say something about that.
There's no official CNA port for the Defy so you have to wait until someone ports a new version. I think they use the Nexus S ROM as a base.
Sent from my MB525 using XDA
Usually When a ROM is updated, it will be posted in the thread.

Original Android Development vs. Android Development

A question for understanding forums selection:
For me is "Original Android Development" that the ROM based on Stock ROM from Device, for example : HTC M8 with Sense6 is stock and original and HTC without Sense6 like CM is Android Development
Is this right or give me please another explanation!?
Thx in advance
No, you have it reversed. Also kernels, recoveries and stuff tends to go into original. This should be mentioned in a sticky in one or both of these subforums.
The wording is bad, the distinction arbitrary, and all over it's a terrible idea.
This has been brought up a few times.
Original Android development can have both sense roms and non sense roms eg CM, recoveries and kernels. The difference is the OP of the ROM has had to have made a large contribution to make the rom, recovery or kernel different to anything else of its type. This means that there has to be a large number of features that are unique to that rom and not offered in other roms.
Also any builds that go into OAD forums should be official builds by official maintainers as well. All non official builds should be in AD forum.
This would apply to kernels recoveries etc as well.
Edit here is the link to the main page that says what can go in to OAD and what cant: Introducing Original Development Forums for More Devices
Hi , thanks for your reply !
Now i got it !

Source code- ROM development

Hi everyone! I've been wondering if there will be ever a port of cm or any other aosp rom to our m9+. I think sense doesnt do this device justice.
I read in some other thread that this wasnt posible due to the fact that mediatek had not release the source code-, then i stumble on to this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/meizu-mx/orig-development/helio-x10-kernel-source-code-released-t3225886
I dont know if this has anything to do with our device. But it would be nice to have an aosp ROM.

But with this source code I would like prefer to have many features in the kernel development instead of aosp rom development.
