Now I am a loving HD2 owner. The only thing I don't like about my phone is the difficulty in typing, but that is another story.
One of the brilliant features of this phone is the 4.3" screen, brilliant for everything. Couldn't be beaten, or so I thought. Then I stumble across this little beauty, with it's 5" screen and running Android.
What do you guys think? Hit or miss?
I think my 32" TV also beats the HD2. The only downsize is it's slightly inconvenient to bring it everywhere in my pocket.

I also love my HD2 but i use it as much as a media player/internet browser as i do a phone. I think the phone part is actually secondary to me so something like this looks really good. I can well and trully understand its not for everyone but it should definately have a good strong niche market. Also, once it has froyo it could be really cool.

I think it looks super cool and really makes the phone look different from the others. Personally, I think the EVOs back looks black and ordinary without the carbon fiber.
I have the CDMA HTC Diamond and was extremely relieved when the CDMA Diamond didnt get that battery cover.
To me that looks hideous and borderline cheezy.
I for one love the battery cover of the evo.
The cool factor of the diamond back wears off real quick. The points wear off if the phone is pocketed, and the create an uneven surface, aka wobbly laying flat.

Hmm, that would probably annoy me greatly as I like everything to look and be perfect, or as perfect as something can be. Haha.
I don't mind the evos (Better than the droid incredible's back by far), but I think it looks a lot better with the carbon fiber. I always use the kickstand when I set it down too. I figured out if you push in on the on the short side of the hinge, it pops right out.

Care to explain, because so far, it's posted in the EVO gen forum, and the title says "Why couldn't HTC have done something cool with the battery cover like they did here..." and then a video showing the back of an HTC phone that's different than most phones.

all a matter of opinion I suppose ... way I see it that diamond back looks pretty lame.
why not just have the regular back and if people want to make their phone look cooler, or not cooler - depending, then they have the option.

That's a KIRF, just a knockoff. The buttons are wrong, the ports are wrong, resistive touch screen, the Sense UI looks fake... It's definitely not an HTC.

Hehe, that thing is pretty messed up! I still wish HTC would make an all white phone for Sprint though. Or at least make less models of similar phones so the accessory industry can make like how the iPhone accessories are.

lol only cool thing I see is the built-in FM antenna but its pretty cheesy looking...I wish they could've done an internal FM antenna so you wouldn't have to have the headphones in, but oh well...small price to pay to have the real deal!

If you can't tell by his long rant on the location of the keys, he is a well known samsung hate/iphone fanboy. You can literally tell whether the article was written by him based on the first paragraph.
However, i'm quite surprised that he actually liked the device

Yep, he sound super annoying though and I'm not referring to his accent but the tone of his voice, I can't watch 26 min of him so I usually skip to the parts that I'm interested about like browser, screen, battery life. But I think overall he always gives an honest opinion.

Can't say I'm disappointed that it is plastic and not metal. He seemed to drone on about the plastic design. Sure plastic shells can scratch easily, but they stand up better over time than metal ones. I've had several devices metal and plastic, and metal always interferes with signal quality and when it bends, it doesn't bend back into place like plastic does. My TF201 looks terrible with all of its dents and scratches but my Evo 3D with its plastic back and only a little bit of metal around the edge is looking decent (except for the metal which is scratched and nicked.)
What is everyone's deal about plastic? A ceramic coating would have been interesting, but we have already seen the coating chipping off on one model of the HTC One series phones.
EDIT: Ok, so I see I wasn't the only person that found the way he complained about the keys and other nitpicking to be a bit biased and annoying.

Yeah this guy is rearly a hardcore Iphone fanboy, I dont like his reviews and tests cause he is not objective at all. He was trying rearly hard to find something to criticize on and than mention that every minute, he seems very annoyed that this device is better than the Iphone...

He sounds very condescending at times, lots of "obviously" and "of course". And his tone is terrible. Surely they can find someone with more ability than this dude?

stay away from ceramic coating!!! good thing Samsung didnt go there.
I sent my 3d htc one s back for a refund and preordered the SGS3 for that reason alone!!
By the way, flimsy plastic? So what? You scratch it and buy a new one, the phone looks like new.
try to do that with an alloy-ceramic phone.... No chance!

I'd have loved it to be HTC Sensation-style,where you can replace the whole housing apart from the screen in the form of a battery cover.That way you just don't give a rat's ass about scratches etc.
Very annoying. Love the phone. Plastic back is better for radio signal. Drop a plastic backed phone and you will get back a scratched but still very much working phone not like a glass backed device. Very easy to tell an I-Phone fan boy. Could not watch or listen to entire video due to the annoying Fan Boy.

Well,they are a really good site in fact.They may not have all the stuff Anandtech does,nor do they publish everything new instantly like SlashGear,Engagdet etc,but they do it all and do it well(Does that sound somehow...? ).I prefer them for my everyday mobile tech news reading.

I just wanted to make a quick post to show some pictures of the new case that I got in today. I just couldn't find a whole lot of post about cases and none about this one specifically.
I'll use it for a few days to go into further detail about day to day use.
First impressions are great due to the overall look and feel of the case.
It has an awesome texture that feels like very fine sandpaper that's been used and is now smooth if that makes any sense. It also fits perfectly with a very durable and tight fit. It doesn't feel like its going to fall off or wear and lose form but only time will tell.
It also has an open top and bottom which I love simply because I can use my Audio Technica headphones again without having to take my case off every time I want to listen to music. I would love to have a closed top and bottom that also fits the headohone jack but that wishful thinking as I've yet to come across one that does.
The color is great but not the same as the picture on Amazon. It's much darker in person which isn't a bad thing just not what I expected. Even still I'm glad that I got to get a colorful case as I missed out on the Cyber Monday Moto Maker deal and had to settle for a woven white TMO Moto X. Not complaining, just kind of bummed I didn't get my custom paint job. This case is a nice alternative.
I also like that the Anker branding on the back isn't tacky and huge. Most case makers need to take a note and not slap their ugly logo or lame name all over the case and if they want too then at least make it small like Anker did. Keep it simple.
That's all I can really say at this point but will update later after a few days of use.

Yeah the color looks nothing like yours. I have a case just like it but mine is from bear motion. It had more colors to choose from. I bought a gray and red/brown. I will probably get a green one soon. Very nice cases.
Yeah, I saw the Bear Motion cases after I had already placed my order. No big deal though because I love the blue color of the Anker. How have the cases held up over time? They seem really durable.

Just got my black BearMotion case which is pretty much the same thing as this, and the feel is great. I have a White Woven back and it was hella slippery. This case helps a ton, is very minimal, thin, and feels great in the hands.

I actually just got them yesterday, so unsure how they will hold up. The blue looks great, I will probably purchase one in that color too. Well as long as my wife lets me. lol
These are available on ebay with no branding. I've got a black one it's nice. There's also a frosted clear case, with same form factor, which is the best case ever. Love how slim these are, and how they don't interfere with front of phone at all. Do wish they covered top and bottom though.
