I guess no one else is having this problem?

Sorry amigo, mine vibrates. If you press the side volume rocker down repeatedly it should switch to vibrate and then physically buzz. If not, you might have a good bad phone.

I have the same problem. It's really irritating because I have my phone on vibrate most of the time. I think I'll just have to return it.

Hey all,
New to the forum and first post!
Look forward to speaking and getting to know you all.
Question: Anyone having issues with the ringer volume?
Mine is set to Max but it's still so soft/low.
I can barely hear the phone in my pocket or jacket.
Any fix for this?
Thanks.
*added* - also vibrate is very weak!
Get a belt clip case to wear it, you'd look Sooo Cool

LOL! good idea!
but that won't help either.
if i can't hear my phone while it's in my jacket (pocket on the inside of jackets right where heart/below heart is). i doubt i can hear it on the waist!
is it only my phone or are there others out there with the same issue?
and before any smarty pants comments, my hearing is fine!
thanks!
Yep. Same here. Also the vibrate is horribly weak...

i use my own custom notification and ring tones, and have no problem, maybe someone with abit of time can put the stock tones through an audio converter and increase the volume
Here is what to do, (do exactly as I say before you say it did not work).
1- unlock your screen if it is locked
2- press home button (no mater what, just press it)
3- hold the valuem up for 10 sec
now it should be louder
Is there supposed to be any new / different notification after 10 seconds?

ijustwantthedownload: yes vibrate is terrible as well. so very faint/weak!
m3dteam: lol... that changes nothing. volume is already set on max it's not different changing it that way.
anyone else that has same issues?
anyone else that can help?
=)
I had the same issue I fixed it though by getting this App Volume+ from the Market. Then I downloaded this other app Zedge from the marketplace and replaced my ringtone.
Why my phone keep vibrate while screen off?
Google changed things around with 4.2. Now the phone will always vibrate on silent if it had a sound notification. From what I've heard, its not a bug.

That's a really terrible idea if this isn't a bug. The fact that it vibrates when I get new mail on my g-mail account is really bugging me. My g-mail is highly active and it vibrates every few minutes. I've tried everything and can't disable it. Really annoying.
Hi guys,
Someone else noticed a back speaker click (like when you pull a mic from an amplifier) when it turn on even when the volume is set to zero?
It's pretty annoying since when it's silence you hear that every time you receive a message or some app uses sound even when volume is turned off..
Any thought?

Bump?
There must be a way of muting all sound from the phone (calls, notifications, etc) except for the alarm .... Besides manually lowering the volume for each volume

Try Silent Sleep from Google Play, works well for me or Mute Ringer.
Hold down power and press mute (speaker with a line through it icon)

Check out AudioManager. It's a pay app but allows you to control all individual volumes. I use the widget on my home screen when I set my alarm on my phone and turn sound off and I can verify that the alarm volume is still on.

depending on why you need this why don't try airplane mode?
even if you don't need data connection, is clear

I still want to be connected to the internet to allow apps and stuff to update and work in the background I just want to be able to mute all the sound except the alarm in 1 click
My alarm stays on full volume regardless of all the other sounds. I put my phone on vibrate every night and it doesn't ever mess with the alarm volume

Just put you phone in silent mode. Long press power and press silent.
Alarm will never be turned off regardless of the profile. That's a feature!

Not quite what you're after but I use timerific to silence my phone at night

Not sure one ROM you're on... But lowering the volume using the volume rockers doesn't effect my alarm notification volume level.

exactly the vol buttons only effects calls, music etc, the alarm has to be changed manually,
there's also quiet hours so you dont need to change it every night
Such a big discussion about nothing. When you put your phone on silent, meaning all the sounds are off, you will still hear the alarm.
I change it ask the time depending on my usage.

I find it odd that the lowest volume down setting is vibrate. To me, that's not the most silent state.
Which way do you prefer it, with the lowest setting being vibrate or actually silent?
I'm fine with it being vibrate. I use QuickSettings for changing profiles anyway.

I agree, lowest setting should be silent, not vibrate.
Not a big deal, but just a bit strange if you ask me...oh well!

totally agree.. i hate vibrate mode.
In some ways it makes sense to have the vibrate at the lowest setting. It's easy to get to because all you do is hold the volume button and you're there instead of holding it down and pushing up once. Or worse yet, hitting the volume down as many times as it takes to get down there.
I use vibrate a lot, never silence. If I'm somewhere where I can't mess with my phone or have it distract everything, I put it on vibrate so I at least know I missed something. My girlfriend puts her S3 on silence all the time but if she doesn't put it back on at least vibrate, you can't get a hold of her because of it or if she forgot where she put it down at, you can't call it to listen for anything. Unless I'm in a dead silent room where even a vibrate would be rude, I don't have a need for silent mode.
I voted for it to be vibrate, but should ALL phones have that configuration? Who knows. But for me, it works.

Hah this (but in a nicer way )
Maybe email HTC and suggest that they offer the option to switch between the two in the settings?
I mean, when I'm in a meeting, having a vibrating phone is not going to cut it. If I need to covertly unlock my phone to go completely silent, hitting volume down x 8 times then volume up is kind of silly. And still a bit scary if the volume up didn't register, or registered twice.
I am using vibrate always coz i don't know the different between vibrate and silent....
You guys can change the settings of Vibrate profile so that it is actually silent, can't you?
