Problem with PocketCM keyboard

When PocketCM keyboard 9 was done installing, I tried to load it and it says" This version of pcmKeyboard can't be run after 09/15/2007. Please go to http://www.pocketcm.com to get an updated version."
So I go to the site and re-install the program and I get the same message.
Does any one have the same problem? or
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Did you completely uninstall previous version before installing it?

I uninstalled the previous version and reinstaled v0.9 and still the same message. On the PCM site it says "Please note however: it's currently a time limited test release, you'll have to update after 10/01/2007 with a newer version." Looks like the kill date might have been programed in wrong? I even tried installing v0.8 and got the same message however.

I don't think so, as quite a few people are using it absolutely OK (including me). Maybe you'd be better off posting this on the developer's website forum?

just a quick fix... temporary only!
set your date before 9/15/07 or day 15 or 14. then install sipchange. select pocketcm keyboard from sipchange. set date to present.

Uninstall, soft reset, check that pcmkeyboard.dll doesn't exist.
Install 0.9b (just published), to make sure you're running 0.9b check in the option dialog the version number. (if no version number appear, it's not 0.9b)
Should be fine until 10/01/07
If you're limited to 09/15 it's definitely that you got a previous release.

I tried this, but can't remove the pcmkeyboard.dll file....

well after reset, and installing 0.9b it apperently wasn't needed. It works again now!

I wonder, why all versions of PCM Keyboard apparently are timebombed in the first place. I haven't seen this very often - if at all - here at xda-developers. I think, updating should be an option, not forced.

Swype problem

I've tried installing swype but when I chose the keyboard it says "Open of EnglishUS failed!" and doesn't show the keyboard up.
How do I get this to work?

The thread suggested is closed and i couldnt find the answer you were after either. I used to have this working but since i hard reset to save/clean up RAM the phone works great except i now get your error message. This only appears with v3.9 from the T2.
Based on various forums this is a common thing. Also stuffs up internet,email and many other settings (for some anyway). No fix on all of these forums except to use the Omnia extracted version 2.0. IMO this is quicker, the hold down key for numbers actually works unlike 3.9 which is very hit and miss. Sure it doesnt look as good as the keys are a bit smaller etc but use something like Lesscro skin and it looks great and actually works.
However for me anyway if you use Wifi and it can lock your phone or the keypad dissapears for some reason, turn Wifi off and it works like a charm and is very quick.

What if exactly same problem apears on android os on my samsung vibrant?

Swype 3.9 won't stay selected

Good morning
I've installed Swype 3.9.10.10.5032 and when I go into settings, input and select swype instead of touch input it won't stay selected. Is there a way round this as I just can't get Swype to work?
rom version: 1.66.405.2 (76641)WWE (HTC Official)
OS: 5.2.21869
Manila: 2.5.19211619.0
Network: Vodafone UK (phone is not specific to network operator)
Will appreciate any advice/help

Have you selected it from the keyboard screen? I have both Swype and SlideIT installed and I just choose between which one I want to use via the keyboard button when texting/e-mailing/web browsing. And it stays selected, give it a go.
If not, try to uninstal and reinstall?

Ah never noticed the upwards facing arrow before to select different keyboards (stupid me). Once I select swype it says "Open of English US failed!". Once i click on okay the phone goes really slow and the swype logo is in the bottom but no keyboard is shown. If I press on the swype logo nothing appears. Any suggestions on how to load the US keyboard or preferably the UK one?

That happened when I deleted Swype from my Energy ROM, I am guessing it is displaying it because it doesn't have the language pack installed.
Uninstall and reinstall see if it helps.

I uninstalled and reinstalled and still getting the same issue. Any thoughts? I really appreciate the help

Do you get an error when you soft reset? I had an issue about a language pack pop up before WM had even loaded when I managed to mangle my copy of Swype.

It shouldn't be, as you're on an offcial ROM, if it was cooked in as mine was that would be the way to go. You should be able to uninstall and you're good to go. But I suppose if you can't seem to get rid of it it might be the only suggestion I have.
However don't just take my word for it, I am sure someone else must be able to help you.
I would however suggest giving Dasur SlideIT a go, you can try the demo or buy the full version for $8/£5. http://www.dasur.co.il/Product/SlideIT/WindowsMobile/download.php Imo it's a much better keyboard, takes a bit if getting used to but I love it now.

well I've been putting off trying new roms because I needed to backup, so I think I will backup and try a cooked rom and see if I can get swype to work and will also try SlideIT

If you're gonna hardreset you might as well flash a custom ROM while you're at it for sure.

If youre using swype from a cooked rom i would of thought it would run ok but Swype as good as it is does have probs (v2.0, 3.9 that is). Its a common prob in regards to the us dictionary error and functions not running properly like pressing a key for the alternate character not working.
I use slideIT and swype from the Omnia, works much better, faster, sure they keys are a bit smaller but the press for alternate character always works etc.

Yea, I believe AnySoftKeyboard, which lets you install multiple-language keyboards, from the Market has a Hewbrew keyboard.

I just got my new HTC ARIA & tried installing AnySoftKeyboard.
It say it was installed successfuly but i cant see the program in my device.
Any idea someone?

make sure to enable the keyboard through setting >> language and keyboard.

Keyboards will not be found in programs , but can be seen in Settings>Applications if installed.
To activate go to Settings>Language&keyboard to activate and configure.
To set the Input Method (choose the keyboard you want to use when multiple keyboards are activated) , do a long press on any text input box (i.e. google search) and select Input Method.

[Q] help! bad keyboard with GBX0B 2.3.7

Hi,
I installed GBX0B 2.3.7 this afternoon,
seems everything ok, but when I have to input,
it shows a broken keyboard (see attachment)
I format SD card, and re-installed,
it's still bad.
How can I solve this?

How can I install another keyboard?
I want to download another keyboard,
but I can't get into the Android market,
it required me to input an ID/password,
and I cant see the keyboard.

finally I have the problem solved.
I tried to download the apk,
and use Astro to install them sucess.

Any alternate keyboards will work from the sound of it.
Very strange that this only effects Blackstone tho. Oh well.

Go to the Market and install another keyboard application. Or perhaps read the FAQ and learn how to install apps using the AndroidApps folder...

Hah, I forget you guys don't have a physical keyboard. Irony.
Get an APK and install it manually as stated above. I don't know if I'll be able to fix this bug without breaking every other device... There's probably a build.prop change that can be made (or a startup.txt change on lcd.density?) but as I've said I don't have a Blackstone, and the soft kb shows up great on my RHOD...
So if someone could say how they fixed it using the default keyboard, perhaps we can have something the user can apply easily to Blackstone builds...
