When I open QPST Config it reconizes my Hero as "Unknown" not "Surf" or whatever it is. When I open service programming it says "Online connection failure: Unspecified error". What am I doing wrong? I have all the drivers installed. Thanks in advance
QPST
If you are using a Custom Rom that is froyo there is your problem, if you are using a Sense Based Rom with 2.1 do, ##3424# wait until the diagnostic screen shows, then connect, and use QPST config to add phone, then do service programming.
Problem solved! I was running a old version of QPST.

Hey everyone,
Ok, I'm having trouble using my XDA as a Wireless Modem. I have already taken the following steps:
1) Setup the modem and connection on my computer (using the many guides found on these forums)
--I used internet2.voicestream.com as an access point...is that correct?
2) Ran the wmodem.exe application and hit start
3) Dialed *99# from my computer via Serial Cable
When I connect it gives me the following error on my Computer:
"Opening port...
Error 633: The modem (or other connecting device) is already in use or is not configured properly."
I know I am using the correct port (COM 1), because Activesyinc recognizes my XDA via serial port.
Obviously the computer is not recognizing my XDA as a modem. Did anyone else have this problem? If someone could please help me it would be GREATLY appreciated!
Ensure ActiveSync is not using the serial port, i.e. close the ActiveSync on your XDA before running WModem, i.e. your ActiveSync on your laptop should show as disconnected.
Here are my config:
(1) From Windows 200 / XP / 2003, create a modem as follows:
Standard 33600 bps Modem (yes don't choose higher rate one)
-- Maximum Port Speed = 115200
-- Extra Initialization commands: AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","INTERNET2.VOICESTREAM.COM"
(this is for US T-Mobile users, other others, change the internet2.voicestream.com to your phone company equivalent)
-- Flow Control: Port Speed=115200, Flow Control= None
(2) Connect your serial cable to your XDA I
(3) Run the Wmodem, and click "start", you have to ensure your phone connection is online to be able to click "start"
(4) Now try to dial from your laptop using the connection created in (1)
username: voicestream
password: (empty)
Dial: *99#
You are on!
Hmm still not working...
Can you check your Diagnostics tab in the modem config and see if it reads:
"Hardware ID mdmgen336"
Also, I am running T-Mobiles release of 4.01.16 ENG. Obviously this did not come with the wmodem.exe application. I just downloaded it off these forums and transfered it. Do you think its possible that the 4.01.16 ENG did not come with the neccessary files to make the XDA a modem? If so, what ROM can I get that has wmodem.exe, or is there a place where I could download some .inf files to make it work?
Appreciate your/anyones help!

This will never work. You can´t get it working, since the wmodem application didn´t work with this ROM version. You should change to ROM 4.01.12 and then try it again....

Alright thanks, I thought it would since the wmodem application ran in 4.01.16
EDIT: Oh one more question...now I know why I have 4.01.16 again. When I go to the kitchen. Which option do I select for T-mobile in the USA? Is it No AutoConfig data? Thanks.

I will post you a nice tutorial tomorrow for the GPS and if you PM or post your email I will send you one of my cricket custom ROMS for the touch.
cricket ROM and tutorial
I have included a custom ROM in this tutorial
1st off credit is due to those that wrote these programs I only take credit for putting this all together.
#1 use msl grabber to get the msl/spc code found here
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=43560
install via activesync or sd card and run on ppc.
#2 unlock with the 2.31 unlocker listed here
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=20370
#3 flash this sprint 6.1 ROM to update radio "WARNING DO NOT LET CUSTOMIZATION RUN" SOFT RESET WHEN IT SAYS AUTO CUSTUMIZATION IN 3 SECONDS. This is for GPS1 to work.
http://www.htc.com/us/SupportDownloa...cat=2&dl_id=66
To do this connect USB to computer then Press power camera and Reset to get to bootloader red green yellow screen and connect to cable then run the exe file. DO NOT LET CUSTOMIZATION RUN SOFT RESET WHEN IT SAYS CUSTOMIZE IN 3 SECONDS.
#4 Go to the following and download from windows drivers and unlocking tools
http://www.4shared.com/dir/13898363/...4/sharing.html
QPST
windows htc driver
activesync4.5
Ryanmogul diagnostics shortcuts
download the following
http://www.4shared.com/file/10597370...HMregedit.html
http://www.4shared.com/file/94425441...t5_0_31_7.html
Install Ryans diagnostics on ppc
Install QPST on computer
Install htc drivers on computer
Put phone into diag mode & connect to computer. computer should connect and find new device
run QPST configururation and add new port till you find your phone.
Now in QPST run from top menu start clients service programing.
Select phone
Read from phone imput spc/msl code from the grabber.
Then enter 000000 in the service programing field.
Write to phone
now while in QPST lets get your GPSone ste up for cricket.
Go to the GPS1 tab and uncheck all the boxes then recheck them.
then enter the following
pde ip address 117.29.223.11
pde port # 8080
pde transport IP
Position calculation mobile
Write to phone
close out
I would recommend now to flash a custom ROM here is a link to one of mine. http://www.4shared.com/file/135174580/27254c16/VOGUIMG.htmlinstall on a FAT32 formated 2gig or less msd card and rename to VOGUIMG.NBH THEN INSERT CARD AND PUT PHONE INTO BOOT LOADER AND FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS.
You will need a cricket PRL to load through PST setting.
then go to this thread it will help you set up your pst setting correctly.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=492824 *NOTE* In some cricket markets you will need to change from EVRC to VOICE 13K to make outgoing calls. YOU CAN ALSO DOWNLOAD THE MMS CAB FROM HERE and then
Install the cricketwapmms cab
Do not try to open a data connection untill you have cricket service on the phone.
To authinticate your user name 10digit#@mycricket.com
you must have service.
Just a couple notes to have Email and push services work you MUST have the $15.00 HTML plan on your account and your phone must be listed in the system as a QA4 Evoke.
GPS may Require priming unless you use Ryans Googlemaps.cab
Credits go to ImCokeMaN for the unlocker and his great tutorial
and Ryanmogul6800 on XDA for his great software and his perfect PST setting.
Please let me know if this helped any or if I can be of any further assistance.

pde ip address 117.29.223.11

Hello,
I have my shift installed with Windows 7 Professional and everything working great (including Shift control Center). I want to liberate my ROM, and I've decided to go by golum ROM. When I run the program under W7, after checking SnapVUE, software generate: Error [260]: CONNECTION. Please restart Windows and run the SnapVUE Software Update Utility again,
I've tried many tricks, nothing work. I mention that I don't have at this stage the 3G card inside the Shift.
Please advice,
I also get the following message when I login to Windows:
"data connection failed. Please check your APN settings."
Have you already liberated your Shift?
I don't think you can flash any custom ROM's before you have. If you have not, look at this thread

HI, HEPPENED THE SAME WITH ME. MY SHIFT IS LIBERATE AND DONT CHANGE ROM WITH WINDOWS 7. ITS SAY : Error [260]: CONNECTION. Please restart Windows and run the SnapVUE Software Update Utility again.
PLEASE!! HELP US !!!1
THANKS,

I had this, to cure it, unlike in Vista, you have to have an active WMDC connection. On the WMside use the USB tool and connect it to 7, on the 7 side let the device be found and set up WMDC. Once this is done you should be able to flash once again.
I don't thinks so.
He's flashing a ROM.
@DeReSe : did you not only liberate, but also HSPL your device ?
DISABLE USB connections in Windows mobiile device center.
Then run USB tool on the SnapVue side, then start ROM update.
But, you need HSPL first
any solutions to this error?
Solved!!
Whoa!! long have i waited to solve this issue...finally did it!
here's what worked for me:
1) MOST IMPORTANT!!
In snapview side:
Start -> Settings -> Connections -> USB To PC -> UNTICK "allow advanced network connections" (or something like that...)
2) Download & Install WMDC 6.1 (you can google WMDC 6.1)
Now you can continue as usual:
3) Enable USB Tool on snapview side, and wait for WMDC to recognize the connection.
4) If you only want to flash a custom rom, you can just choose "connect with setting up my device (or something like that...).
5) That's It!! You can now continue to flash your favorite rom to your shift.
(so happy i got this solved !!! )
Hope this helps...Njoy (-!
Hi,
I tried updating i00 rom to light ROM using the method above but still gets the error :-(...I hope we can find another way...
Thanks
SOLVED!
Hi. I think I closed this case!
I got the same problem with my Shift. When I started to flash I got "error 260: connection".
HOWTO:
WinMo: USB tool -> attach
Win: Start flashing ROM
Win: ... -> ERROR 260
Win: Right click My Computer -> manage -> devices -> find your "Shift device" without driver -> right click -> update driver -> automatically -> wait until driver has been updated
Win: Start flashing again
Voilá
Please help ASAP PLEASE!
RE:QPST wont recgonize my intercept! ntohing comes up when i try to add new po
Your computer has to see the phone as a modem instead of a usb disk. Dial ##8778# and it should bring up a menu that allows you to change these settings. You can see which port the phone is registered under in device mgr. under COM and then input it manually, or you can have QPST find it if you uncheck the option to only look for serial ports on the add new port popup menu. Not sure if this works with Virgin Mobile rom.
I just downloaded the driver for my Intercept and it slved te problem. You can get it on the Samsung website then go to "Support" then just find your device and download the driver.

flashing sprint intercept to cricket
hey everybody, ive been flashing OG droids to cricket for a while and this is the first time ive tried to flash this phone(sprint intercept). jw if anybody has a write up on it or anything,, i flashed the cricket prl to it but when i dial *611 it says "there is a problem with ur account please contact cricket" any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance
Working on the LTE bands (VZW s5 -> ATT sim). I was able to get QPST to see my s5 and perform a back up. The QPST Programmer can also see and read from my phone.
The problem is I launch QXDM (as admin) and it doesn't connect through. Just states "No Connection". All of the ID's on the NV Browser are greyed out. I have been unable to find anything like this so far and was wondering if anyone else had the same issue and was able to fix it. If I find the fix I'll reply here with what I found.
QxDM Production build 03.12.714
I would have asked in the QPST thread but it was locked.
Found it but just in case...
"File > Load Items" gives you the screen to connect into your device.
