[Q] HTC Volume Control for WM 6.5.5 - Touch2 General

Hi there,
Anybody suffering the same problem as me?
After jumping onto the WM 6.5.5 bandwagon, I realised that I really miss my WM 6.5 HTC Volume control and I can't get it back.
I know there are a few "work-arounds" but none can still compare to the original HTC one.
VolumeX is limited to a 15 day trial and does not integrate into all apps. Especially those Landscape apps (youtube vids) on our Mega.
There's also SetVolume 0.7.0 but it also cannot integrate into all apps.
I've found LaunchHTCVolumeControl_1.0 but it requires another software to re-assign my hardware buttons to lanch it's shortcut. I found AEB Plus but when I installed it all my hardware buttons cannot even work until I uninstalled it.
Anybody have any work-around? Can I edit the registry for my volume up/down buttons to lanch the HTC Volume Control Shortcut?

u can download full version of VolumeX from here

dude, volumex by itself is quite ok, but when i'm using youtube or viewing some videos, volumex just pause my video and does not integrate with it well...
unlike htc volume control, it adjusts the volume without interfering the video playback.

Try the S2U2 vol control. this is the best (and free) substitute.
If you want to fix the HTC vol control, you have to edit the shellres.192.dll and add the missing icons.

Touch-HD Radio CAB

Where can I get the Touch-HD radio CAB? Haven't found one in touch-hd cabs topic. Also, Audio Manager and Album don't seem to work for me, even if I start them straight from the exe in /Windows. I take it Audio Manager is the mp3 player?
I installed the clean no-panels rom and I need some mp3 and radio application, so I wanted to check out the touch HD ones before installing the media and radio panels through pubba installer.
Thanks in advance for help.
This works for me

This the radio cab from the Touch Diamond/Pro. It works perfectly fine with the only exception it doesn't fill the very bottom part of the screen... which to be honest looks ok anyway.
Thanks - alredy tried that, but I thought the Touch HD radio cab was out there somewhere? Would be nice to make use of that remaining space on the screen.
I dumped files from htc blackstone rom, but i don't know how to make a cab frome them
I´m also searching for the HD radi .cab, would be very nice if somebody cn provide it

i also have german. what mui must i rename?
edit: ok i already found out. but there is a problem: the volume is much lower than the original radio panel!
Thanks a lot Jackleung - works great... just one stupid question - how do I increase or decrease the volume? ;d
where can I get an original german mui file?

Errm...I'm thinking that he's got the same problem as i'm having. It seems in comparison to the radio panel the volume produced by the cab is lower.
I'm guessing it may be a registry setting?

The cab seems to be gone from that post. Can someone point me to where it is? Thanks!
If you guys want a radio app, wouldn't you be better using Pubba's Panel Installer? IMO the X1 app is much better than the CAB kindly posted at the start of this thread.
Good point. I will try both. The touch HD app looks better, but you are right, the panel is probably more functional.
eh? the HD can store 20 stations while the original X1's can only store 6, how can the original be more functional then?
and the app has scrolling rds and can run in the background apparently

[TWEAK] Control WMP/MortPlayer/TCPMP/FM Radio/TF3D Music using wired headset

This tweak, consisting of 2 small apps, allows you to use the button of earphones shipped with Diamond to play/pause music and skip to next track. Just install the CAB. If you won't like it, it is uninstallable.
Apps supported: MortPlayer, WMP, TCPMP, FM Radio, TouchFLO 3D Music tab (both in v1 and v2)
You do not have to specify which app to control. The running one is controlled.
Also, be careful and lock your screen and allow your device to suspend after some time. When you press the button the PPC wakes up. I can't suspend it without stopping music, with the exception of FM Radio, so make sure accidental presses won't do anything (lock) and that device will susped itself after some time.
NOTE: Voice Command is not usable after this. Also some BT headset buttons may play/pause or switch tracks.
Everything is at your risk. If you like it or have problems with it, please reply!
Thanks a lot ^-^
something similar but to control coreplayer would be very niceee
Works with FM Radio and TCPMP now.
thank you very much! really been waiting for app like this
when installed i had hf plugged and it started to work after unplugged once. before that pressing hf button did nothing..
seems to work well
Has anyone checked whether this app can work with manila 2D's audio manager?
.. will give this a try later today.. on my m2D running on htc touch 3g
EDIT: bummer, does not support m2d's audio manager tab...
kosherpig, any chance you can add support for m2d too?
bluetooth headset
kosherpig this a great app and works perfectly on my diamond with the wired headset. It does interfere though when I'm trying to voicedial using a bluetooth headset (it starts music player and changes to next song). Any way that you can disable your app when the bluetooth link is active?

Unfortunately it is not possible. If you need voice command, you can delete the file \windows\sddialer.exe .
After that, voice dial will work but you won't be able to start/stop with wired headset. It's a flaw of method used by me.

Real nice work, this one though, it's even better cause works with the three programs at the same time!
Hi kosherpig,
yes - happy to help you on the M2d testing front.. Manila 2D from what i understand, has a similar user experience to M3D - minus some visual effects.
The default music player is also called the Audio Manager. And on M2D, users can access it from the Music Tab (like M3D).
I don't have any knowledge of the API for the audio manager, but if a forum M2D expert can help with the API, I will be happy to test your code.

???? Here works fine with Coreplayer 1.3.2...but this thread isn't about that anyway. If you wanna solve it, let's talk on the APP thread. Sorry for being harsh on the first post then.
Compatible with s2u2?
looks like the switching off of the screen when you have s2u2 installed is preventing any skip to the next song and really delaying the pause/unpause (20sec).
Have you tried it?
Is there a setup of s2u2 that could solve this (through s2p maybe)?
Aside of that it is a great feature, I always thought that the implementation of the headset button was dumb!
Thankssss!
What a wonderful program. I was looking for something like for a longgggg time
I want to ask whether there has a AVRCP plugin to make TCPMP controllable by Bluetooth Headset or not?

Okay. So I made a experimental version for M2D.
To make it work:
- make sure that, at main screen, the menu Start is named exactly Start.
- make sure you are at "Music" tab. Currently I am not able to switch through M2D tabs.
Note: if you are using TouchFLO 3D aka Manila aka Manila 3D, use the CAB from the first post.
thank you
tf3d one works perfectly, thank you very much.
Am I the only on that uses Windows Media P for music?
Please some controls for WMP
Controls for Titanium music playing would be insane!
Greets to all.

Looking for a few more things...

I just got the TP2 for USCC last week. (WM6.5) I haven't used WM in about 2 years and am pretty dissapointed to find a lot of the same issues that were present then. I used to be a fairly competent WM user with above average knowledge in registry editing, ROM flashing, etc but most of what I used to use seems to have changed. So far I have found the fixes for the sms sent notification and the organization of the contact list by last name, first to first, last.
I've been all over these forums and cannot find a fix to disable the onscreen keyboard from auto-popping...ever. Also, in the sound settings menu, there is a slider to adjust ringer volume and another to adjust system volume yet these two don't work independently. I want system volume loud for hearing things like my IM app that runs in the background yet have the ringer volume lower as it's over bearing on full.
Something else I have noticed is that some settings menus appear to be there but not functioning. For instance, under settings>all settings>today there is a 2nd tab for items that does not change from the appearance tab. I've notice several menu's like this throughout the phone. It seems like there are things that other versions of WM may have had that this doesn't or simply that Microsoft/HTC got lazy in the initial release and either did not remove tabs that were not intended to be there or forgot to finish some that should. Just wondering if anyone has some insight into this.
I'm also looking for a good free IM client. I've seen many apps across these forums but with so many out there, it's hard to find the right one for me. I refuse to pay $45 for Agile messenger (although I've seen hacked versions but I would prefer not to deal with that). It's a decent app, not great but decent but $45 for a very simple app is outrageous. So, I found Slick ( http://slick.en.softonic.com/windowsmobile ) which is a free app and works great! The only feature it is missing that I liked about Agile is a notification (similar to the annoying sms message sent notification that I removed) while the app is in standby. Does anyone know of another free IM app that is simple and has that feature? I only use Google Talk and have noticed some apps specifically for that but there are so many to try, I'm hoping someone has a good recommendation to save me some time.
The last thing I'm curious about pertains to Manila. I see Manila all over these forums. I've done some reading on it and have a good understanding of what manila is. But, it's very confusing as some thread talk about reflashing ROMS for it and others talk about installing cabs over your current rom for it. Does anyone have a link to a good thread(s) that will explain things more clearly so I can make an educated decision on the best way to try this out? A, Manila for Dummies, if you will.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Edit: It looks like the "Manila" Touch Flo design is incorporated in WM 6.5 on my device already? Is this mainly the custom tabs located at the bottom of the today screen?

First of all, TF3D/TouchFlo3d, Manila, or Sense are essentially the same thing. It's a skin designed by HTC to cover up WinMo. You may say it's actualy just a very elaborate Today screen plugin. Since it takes up the whole screen, you would not be able to add other items.

See above for a crude definition. There are many versions, so that's why there's so much discussion in these forums about them. People are trying to use versions that didn't come stock with their devices.
TF2D or Manila 2D - for budget devices like the Touch Vivo, Touch Cruise, etc
TF3D v1 - originally came on the Touch Diamond and Touch Pro
TF3D v2- came with the Touch Diamond 2 and our Touch Pro2.
TF3D v2.1 - came with the release of the official WinMo 6.5 ROM for the Touch Diamond2 and our Touch Pro2. Identifiable with the weather under the clock in the Home tab.
TF3D v2.5 - came with the release of the Touch HD2. Has customizable shortcuts on the Home tab, revamped People tab, coverflow-like Pictures tab and Music tab when in landscape, and other goodies.
Btw, going forward, you may want to list out what you're asking in bullet point form. Most people are put off by long essay-like posts. You'll get more responses if your post is clear and short.

That actually clears it up quite a bit. So it appears that my CDMA TP2 with USCC is actually 2.1 or 2.5? I see you stated our TP2 is is 2.1 but your description of 2.5 seems to fit my phone. Either way, it looks like I can just addon on any Manila Cabs that customize the home screen more as Manila is already installed?

Where else are there menu options that doesn't look like they belong? Anyway, if there are, then it's because of Microsoft and not HTC. We're on WinMo is on version 6.5 now, but it really hasn't changed much since I first used a pocket PC back in 2000.

Certainly, there are components that are possible to install via cabs. But often, you'll need to flash a ROM with the particular build of Manila that you want to get those features.
So just to clear this up, if something is made for TF3D v2, it should (or might) work with our CDMA TP2 running the stock @M6.5 rom?
Also, anyone have a fix for the keyboard thing? I remembered the name of the cab i used to use, null keyboard but can't find anything that works with this rom. I've tried a few reg edits that have not worked.

It should, yes. However, if you have a TP2 with WM 6.5 you most likely have Manila 2.1 (in my case 2.1.191937). If you go to the Settings tab and scroll down, you should be able to see which version you have. That being said, many cabs work on all versions, a good few has to have a more specific version (like 2.0, 2.1 or 2.5) and a mere handful needs to be spot on (e.g. 2.1.1717).
After installing such a CAB you often need to restart your TF3D/Manila/Sense, and to do so you go to Start > Settings > Today and tick off HTC Sense. Tap OK and go back in to tick the HTC Sense box again. That restarts your TF3D.
Hope that made sense.
Thx for the clarification, I think I'm ready to start customizing this thing! I'm a bit hesitant as I really like alot of the features that come with the stock home screen. My last windows device was the 8125 and I modded the **** out of that home screen but this one I simply want to add a few highlights without loosing the over all look.
One thing I have been curious about is if there is a way to put a google search bar under the calendar. I know Google apps will put one up but then I have to go to my programs tab and open google apps so I might as well just eliminate a step and open opera.
I haven't checked to be honest with you, but I am satisfied with moving the internet tab a few notches closer to the home screen tab. I find that to be quick and easy enough! One tab on the tab and the google search is at the top of the screen.
Thanks for all the help! You gave me the tools I needed to dive back in. I understand the differences in Manila's now as I've flashed about 5 or 6 different roms. 2.5 is slick in theory, especially when Dusk Evolution v2.0 is theme is added but I had to return to 2.1. Thanks again for the help to get me started.
Im client look at PalRingo.. it's pretty awesome and covers most major networks (yahoo, MSN, gmail, facebook chat, icq others.
Yes, that's what I currently use. Kind of an old thread now too. I've come a long way since I started this thread.

What the HD2 really lacks

About a month ago I upgraded from my old trusty and excellent HTC HD to the new HD2.
After a few tweaks, haks and fixes and some downloads, I was extremely happy of my HD , in fact the only real improvement in the HD2 to me seems to be the much faster CPU (which of course is not a little thing)
However there are a couple of major gripes (or just lack of aternative options) on the HD2 that I find particularly unnerving, prominent among which is the excruciatingly bad Kboard.
It's even worse than the one I've got on my HTC Hero which has a far smaller screen.
On the HD I had installed "FingrKboard" which I found simply excellent; is'nt there something similar that would work on the HD2?
Or maybe do you think that the same .cab file that worked on the HD's wm 6.1 will also work on the HD2 wm 6.5?
Second major problem with the HD2 is that I still have'nt been able to find a (good and possibly free) registry editor for it.
I have read about some very interested tweaks for the HD2 in the threads of the forum, but they all require the use of a registry editor, which one would you suggest?
And again: would I be able to install and use one of those I had on the wm 6.1 of my old HD(1) ?
And last (and probably least too): would "Gyrator" ,be installable and working on the HD2 as it did on the HD1?
No eh?
And do you know of another app that would make the screen turn from portrait to landscape with all apps?
Even if you could point to the solution to just one of my conflicts with the HD2 , you would have accomplished your Xmas good deed by making very happy a poor afflicted geek.
This is the way you might earn your place in heaven, you know ?

FingerKeyboard worked on WM6.5 on the HD1 and works on the HD2. I found it to be superior to the standard HTC keyboard.
There is also a cab file that reduces the sensitivity of the screen on the HD2. This is supposed to make typing a bit easier although I have not personally tried it.
For registry editing, I use PHM RegEdit. It's a free program.
I use Resco Explorer and once you've downloaded that (for free), download the registry editor add-in (both cabs on the Resco site)

The registry editor stays unlocked though. I actually never use the Explorer part but you're right, that gets locked after a few days so you need to purchase it (if you want to).
Try Swype as a keyboard. I found it on this site and haven't looked back! It has an amazing input method and is not as over-sensitive as the native HTC keyboard. Check it out....

I second PHM RegEdit.
Simple, easy to use and free.
Thanx fellas.
I had both PHM regedit and fingerkeyboard because I had downloaded and installed them on my old HD(1) and Samsung Omnia i900 ( of which I got rid long ago) , now I have installed them on the HD2 and they work great.
I wonder which other win 6.1 apps will work on the big screen and win 6.5 of the HD2.
Dutty (one of my heroes) for exemple had to modify Cyberon voice dialer to get it to work on the HD2 because as it was the standard version would'nt play together with the HD2., so not all HD apps would be usable on the HD2.
I wonder how Gyrator would behave in the new environment.
Oh, and thanks very much for the link too, very interesting and useful.
I hope I'll be soon able of being of some help too.
BSB tweaks for screen rotation mate
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=589305
Thanx Carlos, I have already installed the awesome BB Tweaks and now I have also cheked the "show standard windows setting" box, but I still can't find the menu you uploaded with the screen turning option.
Where is it hidden?
Is there any particular option I should enable?
I have enabled nearly all of them anyway but hat option still eludes me.

Run BsB Tweaks and open the menu - Rotation is in there.
Hi there..
Dont mean to flame or anything like that.
But the title of the thread suggests that you arnt happy with the device.
So we start reading your post.
But its all just software features you lack or want to change.
And that does not really imply the hardware exclusive to the HD2.
@ Johncmolineaux
Thank you mate, I looked for it for 2 days, maybe I should wear my glasses more often.
@ Enonoid
I'm sorry if from my title you or anybody else got the impression that I was'nt happy with the HD2: I bloody love it man!
I just wished to find a few apps, progs and tweaks to which I got used with my old HD1 (which I loved too).
I also have an HTC Hero and a Nokia N97 ,which after Nokia changed camera lens, camera cover, GPS chip & software, installed ROM 2.0, optimized memory, and gave me for free one year subscription to the latest OVI maps for Europe, has become a great phone too; but the HD2 is my fav hands down, even though as an OS per se I like Andrid more than WM 6.5 (mainly because of the marketplace and the awsome free apps available).
One must be a brainwashed Apple fanboy not to like like the HD2.
Gyrator works fine on the HD2

Swype is the next generation keyboard, amazing. I am running it on the HTC Touch HD, although it will run much better on a capacitive screen, more sensetive the screen the better it will work.
Yes, Swipe rocks, but after BB tweaks adjusted the screen sensitivity of the standard kwerty, and the FingerKboard, they have become absolutely excellent too.
The only problem is that I can't put any of those in ladscape position.
I have tried to reinstall Gyrator but it does not seem to work on the HD2 it seems made for devices with styluses and resistive screens.
Did anyone find a way to type messages, notes, etc. in landscape?
