2.2 froyo official Arabic rom I9000JPJPG
and this how to install with odin
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Official arabic firmware is I9000JPJPG
However some people use the Orange I9000JHJP8 firmware (support Arabic and Hebrew )
becase I think it is the only official firmware that support Right to Left text alignment which solve alot of problems you encounter while reading arabic text e.g. arabic PDF books. Some arabic developers use this ROM to make their roms with Right to Left text alignment.
So if you can do the alignment the right way, it will be great.
I9000JPJPG is the latest ROM for arabic region.

yes i agree the only problem with the non-arabic roms is that the letters are not connected

@webstar1
Do you by any chance know how to modify the locale settings of any firmware?
I am thinking of doing it for xxjpy, to remove the stock locale, and replace it with the DX version (DX version comes with native Thai, Viet, Simplified Chinese, Malay, etc). Similarly you can replace it with the arabic locale.
You think this could be done?

Hello guys, as described in the title, i've reworked the generic.kcm file to give an italian, french and greek generic layout for the keyboard.
Ampinto has ported the portuguese layout, so a big thank to him for his work
It's not 100% perfect, but work pretty good, tested on 3.1 acer rom, taboonay mod V.1.0.4.
I would say a big Thank to Salleq that was first to modify Generic.kcm for his language.
That need root access
the installation it's really simple:
1. With a root explorer, go into /system/usr/keychars
2. Make a backup copy of the file Generic.kcm
3. copy the new Generic_(language).kcm.txt into the mentioned directory
4. Rename Generic_(language).kcm.txt into Generic.kcm
5. Fix permission read / all, write / proprietary, exec / none.
! IMPORTANT !
I'm not responsible for any damage or problem occurred to your device!
I hope that will be usefull for someone
Update: fixed accented letters, download again the file to get the update
Update-2: Added initial release of french (AZERTY) layout, must be tested, i haven't an azerty keyboard...
Update-3: Updated french layout, download again to get update. Fixed two wrong keys on french layout, please, report if find wrong or missed keys.
Update-4: First release of greek layout, must be tested for fix wrong keys, i haven't a greek keyboard, so, please report me any problem and it will be fixed.
Update-5: Fixed French layout, now work!
Update-6: Added Portuguese layout, credit for this goes to Ampinto.
I would be gratefull if someone try the french and greek layout and report me a feedback for fix it!
Thanks

Thanks for that, you are quick! I can't try the greek one immediately, as I am away from my desktop, but I will as soon as I can.
It would give you a lot of work to implement a Portuguese keyboard?
Many users would appreciate.
Thanks a lot.

Yes, for all it shows UK English only I guess. XXJPQ bug maybe.
Is there a file I can maybe mod? where are the settings stored? maybe I can mod it manually to use nl_BE language instead of en_UK

My phone runs in nl_BE language like usual. but in the Samsung keyboard settings only the en_UK language is showing up. That is my problem. While swype has the nl_BE or nl_NL language.
I am now trying to reboot see if that solves it. But I rebooted my phone several times last days.
Congratulations for the great work of the forum!
it is possible to translate or add another language to Kyrillos. example of Portuguese Brazil
Is there a file we can translate?
Thank you all ..
If you wan't to translate a language you have to translate all the framework files and that takes long.
