the i9000 is my last device from samsung, never again Ill buy something from them...
Its October and WHERE TO HELL IS FROYO...
Samsung sucks a lot.
I don't it is such a big problem that Froyo is not out.
I am very content with JM8 and the Froyo betas I tried weren't such an amazing improvement...
Seriously? another one of these threads?
did you not see the one already posted about someone annoyed about the SGS? Yes it has issues but NOTHING is perfect, a little background homework on your part would have saved you this rant thread, but i get where you are coming from, Sammy is playing by threads here but is there anything you can do apart from not buying their stuff, but really you are because they create components and insert them in various products which aren't theirs, so when you buy a different brand they are bound to have one little part manufactured from Sammy.
And it's the FIRST of October, be patient!
We've all established that the SGS has its flaws as well as the company, now can we please just move on and try to get these issues fixed instead of *****ing about them 24/7.
Bunch of trolls....Dont let the door hit you on your way out!
SGS is the best phone on the market...hands down! The N900 and iphone 4 are a close second! But both those phones have issues (too thick and too restricted).
we need a new "Rant" section in the forum, then we can move all these pointless topics there
You are right, froyo is not top of the world but my sgs cant navigate it looses even outdoor by walking the signal...
What is the best froyo rom at the moment for the galaxy?
none really, the last 3 froyo has been devastating, it either kills your IMEI or kills your internal SD
take your pick
LOL
No special need for froyo, a true techy doens't need the "improvements" of the froyo "update"
Sure, using froyo myself; but feels pretty much the same as my lagfixed stock rom.
Can't wait? there are plenty of roms available but you could have known that smasung always give up on their models support within a half year =/

Kills sd? The only thing I've heard that kills the sd is users not installing lag fixes correctly.
I am extremely happy with the phone (JM8 + voodoo) that I really don't feel the urge to upgrade to Froyo.
I will do that only when Froyo matures and reaches the polish level of JM8. And that is not going to happen anywhere soon, even if the release an official version.

Chill !
The Samsung Representatives in Romania said that the official Froyo update will be released somewhere around 15 October, so have a little more patience.
To be honest I think the whole 2.2 thing is probably overrated.
I can understand why Desire users wanted it as they could not move apps to the external card without rooting. Also they couldn't use the phone as a wireless router.
Even when 2.2 is released we will still be left with a phone. 2.2 is not going to change our lives. It might add a couple of nice touches to things here and there, but we will still visit roughly the same websites (flash might be nice), phone the same people etc
I'll install it when it comes, but I can't see that it is going to make a massive difference to how I use the phone
I had to wait for the HTC Hero update to 2.1, thats what a wait is
Are you seriously ripping on Samsung? Learn to be patient young one. Good things come to those who wait. The Samsung Galaxy S I9000 is the best phone I have ever had. Froyo will come out sooner or later.
Samsung is the biggest semiconductor maker in the world...no matter what you buy, it was samsung parts inside!

With the official 2.2 release due out very soon...
Who else is pissed off a little that Samsung are still behind the ball even after having access to the genius works on XDA?
The latest FroYo is not looking amazingly remarkable, they had a slow start releasing a very flawed 2.1 when boxed when first shipped out, just to beat the evo/iphone4 market.
In australia samsung without reason gave $50 cheques to the first 1000 people to send them their IMIE, nobody is sure why, maybe because they have let us down?
Since I got my device the score is XDA 7 - SAMSUNG 0
Seriously considering the new desire hd..
For XDA to come up with more help/answers/fixes than the company that made the device, it really is poor form.
I know it is a good hardware device, but this thread is a straight up punch back in the nose to Samsung for not making the effort in hiring several people on XDA who have helped us more than Samdung have.
They have had enough time, in three weeks if samsung have not put an offical lagfix/or acknowledge it formally, put out a 2.2 that works very well, or GPS fix for EVERYONES devices. Then this thread will grow and grow with unhappy people who bought this phone.
Rant over.
not everyone is having laf even after 100+ applications installed.
not everyone is having gps issues either.
kind of hard to do debugging then.

Maybe to encourage sales and generate word of mouth? That's standard product promotion right there.
I knew prior to buying the Galaxy S that Samsung is never the best with firmware updates and have broken promises for the Galaxy regarding a 2.1 update, that said I bought it knowing the good folks here would be of assistance and keep us up to date for a while.
I didn't have a single problem with my phone - untill I started flashing. Now apps force close from time to time and I have lag issues... I kinda regret moving away from original firmware, since it was working perfectly. But that's life.
Regards

tbh, its common knowledge that samsung is slow in providing updates and fixing stuff.
it is also common knowledge that here on XDA there are a lot of people who create fixes/software etc for all kind of phones, samsung galaxy S ofc included..so it is not that weird that the "XDA-Community" is way ahead of Samsung
last point: unhappy people on XDA are not a big factor for Samsung to cry for almost a million people bought the Galaxy S which makes it a very successfull sale for Samsung and i guess the majority of the people who bought this phone never bumped into the problems we notice/discover or even know of existance of such software as Froyo or Gingerbread and don't moan about it even when its released
to sum it up.
GIEF FROYO xD
i got 410+ apps installed no lag, no lag fix, still stock
in regards to Froyo, even HTC Desire didn't get their Froyo officially until this week, all the previous Froyo they were running were Alpha/Beta versions.
so we are no better or worse when compared to other devices with the same spec
im not miffed, i bought the phone with eclair, froyo is a bonus! my phone works and does what i bought it for, maybe im easy to please

Getting Flash support should be a given. Voice Actions and PC-to-Phone is bonus. Also I really hope they fix the lag and gps, those two things are so bad that I cannot recommend the phone to others.
I thought by now we will have something good and yet there isnt a single case that i like, a back cover, or a holster.....
and the development forum is filled with bunch of lag fixes and roms (2 roms) that are not even as good and stable as stock.
no word on froyo yet, media hub is crap, etc...
With worldwide release i really thought this will be moving with speeds of Nexus.....I guess i was wrong. Its just horrible that they decided to release 5 different variations of Galaxy S. Different bodies, and even different hardware, and therefore different firmware as well

It will come. There is a major learning curve since this is much coherent than the htc built phones. As for accessories yeah.. But it's only been 2 months, be patent..
i too thought that dev would have jumped all over galaxy S phones right away. i know there is a learning curve from htc phones, but i though they would be all over these as they all have the same basic hardware.
I do appreciate the dev who are here and helping and working
i wish for more accessories too
Honestly, this is the first android phone I've owned, I am quite impressed with the activity by the devs. There seems to be a lot of effort into designing tweaks that will lead to some quality changes to our Vibrants after the bugs are worked out.

if these points you listed are so important to you, why did you buy the phone before these things came along?
If and when I am looking at buying something new I do research before purchasing a product so I know what to expect. It sounds like you assumed these things would be ready day 2 after launch and now that they are not you panties are in a twist.
If this is really the case go look in the mirror and there you will have the person to blame for your aggravation .
I like the phone. and i do think it the best phone on the market (at least for me). But I would probably get Droid X if it wasnt so big.
After some mods to phone, i am very happy with it (except for back cover and 2.1, well and the fact that compass just doesnt work at all), gps works, launcher pro plus is a killer, lag fix works, battery indicator fixed, and obviously removed all crapware, oh and tasker app makes word of difference too.
Still New
Am I one of the few that think 2 months is still early in the development game?
The Nexus One is sold as a developers phone, so it should and is supported as one.
I think the developers have lives and a real job. Making this a fun hobby for most of them. So just relax, be patient and before you know it you will have every tweaked/hacked/themed ROM available for your flashing pleasure.

Are actually retarded, so you must make the same stupid point over and over?
We buy stuff when we need it -- like when the old phone breaks, or a plan needs to be renewed.... Most people research a bit, then weigh the pros and cons and take the plunge.
After some use, everyone finds things they like or dislike about their purchase.
But really, why shouldn't we expect to be able to buy by now the dock that Samsung was showing off in their ads way before the phone was available?
Just cleaned this thread and removed some unacceptable comments which absolutely break XDA Rule 2 and usually lead to the suspension of user accounts.
Please stay on topic. Don't post if you have nothing constructive to offer.
Appreciate your cooperation.

Actually, demanding that a product for which you've paid $500 works and it's upgradeable for a reasonable time as long as the hardware supports it (just like a computer), is not *****ing.
When you buy a new car and the radio doesn't work, you don't expect the dealer to tell you to either wait indefinitely, or fix it yourself. Same with this phone.

Well I want my myTouch to be better. Yea, they should trade me out to a myTouch Slide! I spent 250!!! dollars on it.

And he also told me that the GPS will be updated separately. They got a whole team working on the GPS. So this not so nice to hear. But i look it on the bright side. . They are working on it really hard. They also said to me that they do care about the costumers. And they had also 5 galaxy tabs and i can tell you They rock! +1 here, I'd rather wait a couple of months for something that won't be unusable that get something now that we'll be constantly complaining over to get patches etc.
I just wish Samsung would be more open with us about these things rather than letting us down. I would respect them more if they'd just tell us straight rather than giving false/un-meetable deadlines.
The lesson learned here for me is that I won't buy a Samsung phone again. The HTC Desire got its update to Froyo a lot earlier. I mean by the time they release Froyo for the Galaxy Google probably has release Gingerbread. Guess we have to wait till June '11 or maybe forever for that...
I got myself blinded by the great hardware specs. But with any hardware it is useless without the proper software to it. I dont think I expect to much from a device I paid 450 EUR for...
When was Desire launched and when was Galaxy S?
Also, have you read about the delays of eclair for htc hero?
Anyway, my last htc phone was and will be htc hero (beside poor costumer support they have inferior hardware in comparison to motorola, samsung, etc)*.
Don't start me on Motorola Europe. Just look at their Facebook page. Be warned though it is almost entirely Adult rated and definitely not for those of a delicate nature.

The thing that will really piss people off will be the upcoming galaxy tab that will be shipping with froyo for nov 1. That will make it painfully obvious on where Samsung is directing their dev team
They've worked too long on Froyo. Lets see what kind of garbage they will manage to churn out again. This is consequence of have poor staff engineers and interns as main coders and testers. In reality, the SW team is 2-3 "engineers" and a QA team of just one.
Having come from 1.6 on the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, who have delayed the 2.1 release yet further to the Galaxy S (JM1) I have no problem waiting for the official release of 2.2.
I'm just happy to have a phone that actually works, unlike many people I have read on this and other forums having issues with the GPS I don't seem to be suffering the levels of inaccuracy that other do. But then again I don't really use the GPS so not even that big an issue for me.
And at least Samsung are getting it together in terms of the 2.2 update, Sony Ericsson looks like delaying the base 2.1 until around December.
I'm in the get it right, rather than get it quick, camp.
2.2 on the desire offers a plethora of nice improvements (I have the official upgrade on my own desire), but it's not faultless. Samsung have a range of issues to deal with and it's not unreasonable to assume that they might need more time to bring the galaxy s up to speed compared with the desire, which was by common consent functioning better under 2.1.
I think one has to be aware that ones personal concerns with the device are not necessarily majority concerns. Comparing my desire with the sgs, I still reach for my sgs for some tasks (internet, streamed media) in preference to the desire. The screen quality makes a massive difference and the speed and graphics acceleration makes the sgs feel more responsive. The desire feels like a workhorse, the sgs feels like fun.
Addressing the issues properly is much more important than rushing out a new set of bugs, in my view. In the meantime I find stock t-mobile fine, and better than most of my experiences with HTC windows mobile handsets out of the box.
If you really want 2.2 now you, can get it. Personally I find it reassuring that a professional team is out there trying to get it stable and optimised for the device.
Good info, thanks.
I'm all for quality too. I haven't touched my stock 2.1 yet. No lag fix, no rooting or anything, and I'm quite happy with it.
Don't get me wrong, I'd like the features of 2.2 as well, especially voice activated, handsfree dialing via bluetooth, but I'm not willing to take the risk of bricking my phone because leaked roms, or lag fixes may cause damage.
Some of you are willing to take that risk, more power to you, that's what development is all about. I'm just not willing to do that as yet. If Samsung stated they won't be providing an update, then fine. But they are, and I'm willing to wait.

How do YOU know that? Or do you just like trolling?
In reality, it might be that device development is a lot more difficult than people think. OSX Server 10.5 is an example of a product which took MUCH longer than 4 months to be useful, and we all know that Apple aren't a team of 2-3 engineers. How much Froyo development experience do you have to be able to say whats acceptable?

Look at the end result. Look the SGS that most people have in their hands...
Umm, thats a silly assumption.
The difference is that whilst every unhappy user seems to be jumping thread to thread making noise, those of us who are happy aren't creating threads everywhere praising Samsung. The discussions are unbalanced here. At one point of time, someone DID create a thread which was for people who liked the device, and it REALLY filled up.
So really, you don't have ANY development experience do you? It's more likely Samsung simply launched the product a bit prematurely in order to capture the market (and it worked), and now they are fixing the bugs. They have already fixed a lot..
You must also remember, we don't have access to the latest Samsung Builds.

Ya shouldn't be long now
oh my god, a froyo thread with a REAL information and not total speculation! will pigs fly next!?
pigs have flown i has seen them.
Don't look up though, they'll poop on your head.
So itll take another month and then we might get it? So we are looking at another full month before it even begins in the US? Thats interesting. Im curious as to what is so different between the UK/US versions that they need a whole month more to get it ready....if this hardware wasnt so awesome i might be tired enough of the update game to dust off my nexua. Hell by the time the vibrant gets froyo my nexus may very well have gingerbread and then ebay will he my vibrants new home. Its starting to look as though all the samsung android customers were right all along to warn against getting a samsung device....when I had my g1, mt3g, and nexus, all through those I recall reading so much about how bad Samsung is about updates. But their phones blew so it didn't really resonate with me. But my wife got a vibrant and I was happy to get the free one that came with it because the hardware is definitely a step above my n1, the vibrants camera is as good as advertised.
But I wonder how many galaxy s owners had previously owned Samsung phones. Because Samsung owners are always complaining (rightfully so) about all the delays, and here I join them. So even though the galaxy s is selling out of its mind, Samsung is still dragging its feet on updates. I for one wont buy another Samsung unless its so far ahead of the game that I can't get a comparable HTC. So even though they are breaking sales records, I wonder what samsungs repeat business statistics look like. Because there are only so many people left for Samsung to alienate, these sales figures might really be misleading regarding potential if. Afterall froyo isnt a maintenance update we are waiting for spped, adobe flash and more, its a serious update and by the looks of it, if and when we do get it, gingerbread will just he released. I am uncomfortable with a phone that is an entire update period behind, makes me kinda anxious. I think with all the competition, delaying updates can really hurt a company's reputation. Aside from some glaring design negligence (camera flash, no trackball/pad, volume buttons directly opposite power button(counterintuitve/awkward to press one without pressing the other), and no extra mic for background noise, this phone is an absolute beast, with tweaks it could be the most powerful hardware until the next galaxy s phone, i love having all this power. But remaining so far behind the software will really start becoming noticeable even to the novice, as features are advertised for newer software on newer devices and people wonder why they don't have the features even though they ostensibly have the software...
OK yea so I just ranted and wasted several valuabke minutes of your life. In turn I hope you will all feel free to waste my time on this forum any time you'd like to ; )

Tired of the update wait, tired of the crappy battery life.
BTW, Gingerbread is about to be out -- I never thought it will be out before the Galaxy S got bumped to Froyo. So much for a flagship.

What sucks is that Gingerbread, yet rumored is supposed to launch this month yet. It's sad that we don't have Froyo yet and yet there's talk of Gingerbread launching. The "Nexus 2" was the only phone as of yet to come with Gingerbread though isn't it? (might be others..) Still sucks we are waiting for 2.2 yet the MT2G has froyo and the Droid Series does.
The rumored date for Gingerbread is Nov15, maybe we will get 2.3 instead of 2.2 =D Wishful thinking.

The fact that a Samsung phone is getting Gingerbread first makes me a LOT less worried about getting it on our Vibrants soon. It should be much easier to port.
So the wait for FROYO has taken a while. I expect the wait for Gingerbread to be a lot shorter.
And everyone that's so frustrated with not having FroYo is frustrated...why? I assume all of you are running totally stock phones without any kind of modifications whatsoever?

I'm running stock with root and removed the bloatware.
I'm more frustrated at the fact at how much time it's taken to push the update. Samsung promised we would get 2.2, didn't say when, but did say we would get it. Yet we are going on 4 months now and "possbily" getting it Nov-Dec?
I love the phone, but the JI6 destroyed the battery life, that's my only problems. GPS is okay, still needs fixes but hopefully that will come.
I just want Samsung to support the damn device and not screw us. Watch, the UK Galaxy S will get Froyo and when time comes for us to "have it" they'll pull the switch-a-roo and say "Oops, it doesn't work so you won't get the 2.2".
For a phone that sold millions its pretty ****ty of Samsung to not be updating their **** fast enough.

If JI6 "destroyed your battery life," just flash the JI2 modem.
according to Samsung...we will have froyo by the end of the year. I follow Galaxyssupport on twitter. That account is official tech support account for our phones and I asked yesterday about the updates. They stated that we would have our updates by the end of the year

If Froyo isn't made available before the rumored Nexus Two I'm selling off my Vibrant and getting it! I want the improved bluetooth support, JIT, arabic support, improved battery life, etc now!
I've only had this Epic for almost a month and am very satisfied with it so far. But its getting pretty old looking on xda everyday to see someone new complaining about not having Froyo. You got what you paid for people, you bought a epic with 2.1 eclair on it, do you buy windows xp and then when windows 7 comes out you complain they won't upgrade you for free? There will always be something better and something new out there or up and coming you can't expect companies to sit there and keep working on things of the past they have to make money as well and they have to compete with each other and try to stay on top. I'm not saying I don't think they shouldn't release it for us I'm just saying you realy can't blame them for moving on with other phones as well. And if you think 2.2 is gonna make your phone that much better then go get a vibrant from tmobile bc I put 2.2 on my girlfriends phone last week and it didn't do much of anything for it, its just software sure your battery is a little better or the system runs a little smoother your not changing what you physically have the hardware is what it is and you knew all of this before buying the phone and if you didn't then you had 30 days to do some research and return it to sprint.

Alright, I'll bite.
most of us did not buy our epic's having seen a forum full of people dissatisfied with samsung's ability to upgrade their phones. I for one bought my phone on launch day. August 31st 2010. It was a sunny day, there was a nice breeze. I was young without a care in the world. I saw a phone with very formidable hardware and better yet, a promise from samsung that the device would see 2.2 in the very "near" future.
Now I don't know what you paid for your phone, but I paid retail price plus tax. If I had known I was actually paying for an education about what it exactly it means to buy a samsung phone I would have looked elsewhere.
that being said, theres one thing I can't stand and that is people such as yourself who waited until after people bought the phone and realized that and official update in a timely fashion not likely, accepted that risk, and then come here to rub it in the face of those who care about things like kernel sources, and custom roms to tell us about how we should all be as smart as you with your divine phone selecting savvy. I can't say that I speak for everyone, but I can certainly speak for myself when I tell you sincerely to gtfo.
yours truly, cozmonot
Ok to someone like yourself I understand that you did not know what you were getting yourself into and I'm not trying to say that someone such as yourself that bought the phone right when it came out doesn't have a right to be mad. I never said I had waited to buy this phone for any reason its just when I see ppl on here that say they just got the phone and now are mad they don't have 2.2 yet its disturbing. I understand we need kernals and source to make better roms and things, I myself am running Nebula and have been since the first week of owning this phone, so as with the rest of you I myself would like it so my rom can be further upgraded. The main thing I was trying to get at is that complaining about how we don't have it isn't getting us it I did not mean disrespect for someone like yourself and I don't think I have any better taste for phones than the rest of us we all chose this phone for whatever reasons but I don't think anyone chose it bc it was going to have 2.2

I agree in that people complaining here doesn't really accomplish much. Apologies, I probably shouldn't reply to threads when I'm angry and tired.
I think we need to make our voice heard by sprint and samsung if we want things to actually happen, and complaining to people in the same position can't make things any better. just look at the vibrant owners who threatened a lawsuit and got the mainstream blogs to post about the vibrant not having froyo, didnt they get the update like a week later? I agree with what you said in your second post and I wish I had known about what I was getting myself into back in August when i signed on the dotted line.

Actually, I did. Also, because of the slide out keyboard. If I wanted a phone forever stuck with Eclair, I'd have kept my Moment.
EDIT: I am not stuck on Eclair, but there are people who don't know about rooting and custom ROMs.

I bought the phone because of the hardware and because it was stated that 2.2 would be coming soon. I don't understand how people like you can just accept that You have the phone with the best hardware specs on the market at the moment and not be pissed that it doesn't have 2.2. While I agree that coming on xda and starting multiple threads on if FroYo is out is not the most productive way of dealing with the problem, bending over and submitting that because you paid money for the device and knew that it had 2.1 on is just a cop out.
To answer your question on what does FroYo add, here is just a few.
- What about all of the people who spent $30 to $50 on official samsung docks and can't even use it to the fullest without FroYo. IT EVEN SAYS ON DAMN PACKAGING THAT FULL FUNCTIONALITY WILL BE UNLOCKED WITH THE 2.2 UPDATE.
- What about bluetooth voice dialing, JIT, flash, and the updated google apps that come with 2.2, not to mention the speed increase. The FroYo update for the Vibrant doesn't count in this case because everyone knows that update was rushed because of the lawsuit business, and that lead to a bugged release.
And if none of that convinces you, the fragmentation of the market is the best example I can give. Do you know how annoying it is to find an app that you know your phone has more than enough power to run, but it won't even show up in the market because it only works on FroYo and up? IT'S THE ****ING PITS DUDE. For example there is this game that some (ex-sony I think) devs called Lame Castle that I really want to play, but it won't work on galaxy s phones without FroYo. Look it up on the market with Epic, it won't even show up. Now go on appbrain and its there clear as day. There are numerous examples of this, but this is the one that affected me that most.
So when you say that we should have know better and should not be upset, all I can say is that I hope you continue to enjoy the anal that samsung and sprint have given you so far. There's a lot more to come.
It was my first Android. It was cool at first, but just wanted FroYo and refused to get the Evo because the screen sucks and no keyboard.

I would have to say my favorite part about what you said was when you said Froyo for vibrant was rushed and has bugs. Because that could be us, we could have a rushed crappy edition of froyo. I understand that it makes it better and we can't do somthings without but if your life won't go on because you can't play some game on your phone (unless somehow you've got a job doing mobile gaming) then it might be time to look at some new hobbies or just pay your way out of contract so you can go get a phone with froyo that will make you happy as a little kid in a candy shop. But it must not be that bad if your willing to wait it out and hope one day you will wake up and see an OTA.

you never [/rant]
Anyways android is a grey point right now as with your reference to XP you could pay to upgrade to vista/7 (driver / hardware supporting of course) where with android everything is kept under wraps so by the manufacturer until weeks or sometimes months after their "official" software is released and only then can some reverse engineer everything to get what they need to develop.
Hopefully the future of android can be like computer operating systems. Manufacturers only make drivers that way google can push out their own updates or at least give us the ability to do our own.

About the Vibrant, their is no excuse for that buggy release at such a late push date. The carriers have had FroYo since November and and have taken their own sweet time working on it. To add insult to injury, Every other carrier with a Galaxy S phone has pushed out FroYo since November. They even started getting 2.2.1 about two weeks ago. Even the number five carrier in the states, U.S. Cellular, has had FroYo out for its captivate out for about a month and a half now. And guess what? That update went off without a hitch. I also like how you were able to boil down my argument into the my statement about Lame Castle, which in my circles is very important because I'm going to school for that kind of thing, and Vibrant update which I would have even if I didn't have months of knowledge on the situation here and everywhere else that Galaxies are sold. You just get your phone and feel like preaching to me on how I should just take this ****. I bought this phone months ago knowing I would be with it for two years and expecting on Samsung to hold up to their statement of by the end of the year. Its a month into 2011 and still nothing. If you find your epic fine on 2.1, all power to you. But their are people with docks, people that want to make hands free calls while on the road, and people who just want full access to the market, who have all the right in the world to complain over this mess.
Note: Make multiple threads on XDA is NOT the way to go about it though people.

I decided to get THIS phone for the desired features AND the promise of 4G and 2.2 before the ed of the year. While you are entitled to your opinions, I certainly don't appreciate labeling and especially not when you do it from the safety of your keyboard. It just isn't called for.

I didnt read the majority of the posts, I apologize....just want to put in my two cents and I guarantee it'll still be on topic.
People here have the right to rant. They have the right to be angry. They bought a true high end Android phone and are still on 2.1. That's not right... I have an Evo and an Epic...and the difference between 2.1 and 2.2 is really just the Flash (I'm not including what Samsung through in there based off of the leaked roms. Because some of what they through in there was just polishing up the UI and stuff). And Flash isn't really that big of a deal, its just one of those things that is nice to have. But thats beside the point. It doesnt even matter if the only thing different between 2.2 and 2.1 was a damn ringtone...a high end Android phone should be updated. If you don't update these phones, then why would someone shell out extra money to buy another high end phone that will share the same exact features as a low end phone? True the High end will be faster, but it really needs to have something to separate itself from the low end phone and that something should be the fact that it will always be supported...
And this is the problem with Android and this is what makes me sick about it. Android is great...but dammit...they need to relax on these phones and focus on the ones that are out now. They just keep on taking our money, and its going to get to the point where no phones will be updated, they will just keep releasing phones with the new update. And they know people will straight up go buy the new phone just for that update, just to realize that it aint even good. I started with the Evo before the Epic and if I wouldve went from the Epic to the Evo just for 2.2, I wouldve been pissed the hell off. 2.2 is not worth it at all...well, lemme put it like this: 2.2 by itself is not worth it. Although it aint worth it, this high end phone should still have it. If the Evo has it...the Epic should have it. The Evo will probably get Gingerbread and that'll be a damn shame...it won't benefit from it at all...
I mean, when you look at this 2.2 update from different angles, you can see why people rant and get mad. They have the right to...now if we could just put all of it into one thread that would be a lot better than multiple threads...but its w/e.
Also, does anyone else think that nothing else will top Android but Android will "destroy" itself? Android has already destroyed itself with me, if the iPhone hits Sprint, I'm jumping ship.
