I would like to know which GPS software (Europe)- TomTom Garmin etc would be the best to install on my Touch Dual.
Many thanks for any advice.
Paul
I'am using Tomtom for 3 Years now on different platforms. Tried Navigon once but came back to Tomtom after 3 hours. For me Tomtom is the best!

Same here.
in poland tomtom is not good, the best is Auto Mapa: http://www.automapa.com.pl/?PEI=35489&lng=EN
Hi,
I am using Navigon 6 with the map of europe and for me Navigon is the best. I tried TomTom and Navigon on two devices (both HTC Universal) in parallel and decided for Navigon. It is easier to use and works better/ faster that TomTom. Don't know why mactron and ducamie decided for TomTom but I assume that they tried Navigon after they used TomTom for a longer time. In this case they might be a bit prejudiced......
Cheers

MioMap
I prefer MioMap (version 3.3) over TomTom.
Maps are very accurate and updated regarely.
I use TomTom, it's ui is what does it. But indeed I've used TT for a long time and so I prefer it. Navigon is better, the UI is much nicer and even better: TMC is supported. TT doesn't support TMC, the've their own traffic service, but it'll cost you a dime.
Second it seems that innovation and updates have stopped @ TT, I mean the navcore for the PNA is still updated but for us PocketPC users they've stopped.
So if you're new to navigation, choose Navigon.
Nobody with iGO 2006+ or Garmin XT ?
Well as a matter of fact, I've got Igo8 right now. Yust testing it, but damn this is my favorite after just 5 min. of playing time. Smooth (unlike Navigon), easy, configurable, lot's of features, but most of all Smooth, oh I said that allready let me say it again Smooth!!!
What is the most reliable Sat Nav software for MDA Vario II? I have been looking at Garmin Mobile XT or Co-Pilot 7
Just wondered about any reccomendations?
Any comments would be much appreciated
people report various success with different software depending on where they are in the world for map covering and updates
fair point, well I'm in the UK so does anyone know the best ones for UK coverage?
Thanks
I'm in the UK and use Tom Tom on my Touch Diamond, it works really well. Have only just got myself a Hermes (£25) so have yet to try any sat nav software on, yet.....
TomTom
I've used TomTom software on all the following devices with excellent results:
- SPV M500 (Magician)
- SPV M3100 (Hermes)
- HTC Touch HD (Blackstone)
IGO 7 works like charm on my hermes.
Cheers
what version of Tom Tom is reccomended? I have Windows Mobile 6
Thanks
The Tomtom ripped from the tytn II is OK, Tomtom 7. You do need to purchase the maps though...
Can anyone confirm that TomTom 6 works on the Hermes?
or what is the best version to run and why?
Thanks
I can confirm both tomtom 6 & tomtom 7 both work fine on hermes.
For tomtom 7 you can get the more recent maps, but it requires more ram to run. When I was running a m2d rom I had tomtom 7 close randomly on me a few times. No problems if you have more than about 15MB ram free though.
I like Tomtom 7, have no problem running it on my Jasjam... As I said though, you need to purchase the maps. The best things in life don't always come for free...
Hi
Does anyone know how to get rid of the annoying GPS lag on TTN7 when using it on TP2?
I'm currently using TTN7 v7.195(9196) ad have purchased map v675.1409 from TomTom.com and everything is working great except that I have a approx 3 second GPS lag.
Thanks!
Has anybody have more than one GPS APP installed on there HTC HD2 phone, just wondering if there was any problems with ports an if you need a port spliter,i have Tomtom7 installed and want to install Twonav pocket.
Has any one had problems with this
Thanks
I've been using with no problems both tomtom and navicomputer at the same time with no problems at all, while tomtom navigated, navicomputer saved the track.
I also tried nonigpsplot at the same time with navicomputer... never tried all three at the same time though but I think they will just work
I have 6 apps installed calling for GPS and no single problem with each of them
i got tomtom and navigon on my hd2
working perfectly
Igo8, Navigon, TomTom and some "smaller" GPS-Progs
Thanks guys for your info i will go ahead and put more GPS apps on my phone now thats great to hear,i asked because i had a mio moov 300 unlocked and had problems with port shareing two different apps but it sounds like the HTC HD2 can handle it.
Thanks again
Hi everybody,
I am going to switch my HP ipaq hw6915 to WM 6.1, using the “Russian" ROM-Update discussed here quite intensively. Had been reading and searching first but nowehere found a hint on how to save/backup my original ROM first. Just to have an opportunity to roll-back
Can anybody give me a brief hint?
Thanks!
The reason for trying to upgrade my hw6915 to WM 6.1 is simply because I like and use the GPS still a lot, its still a perfect travel-companion!
I found out that on the current ROM with WM 5 only TomTom Navigator 6 is working . But all maps for that are outdated.
Installing Navigator 7 with latest maps works fine – but the Navigator software does receive GPS signal – once in a while (1 signal about every 30 seconds – just enough to locate the current position but not enough to really navigate).
Exactly the same thing when I install Sygic (which I love much more than Tom Tom). All works fine but again just about 1 signal about every 30 seconds.
GPS Proxy etc. does not solve the problem – so I will give it a try with WM 6.1.
If anybody however found out how to get Navi software (Tom Tom, Sygic or whatever) with not-too--old maps working with the original WM 5 on the hw 6015 – I´d be outstanding thankful to learn!
have you tried Garmin?
Have not tried Garmin bt I am using TT and Sygic in the car resp. on other mobiles so I did not want to deal with a 3rd Navi software.
Would be happy if somebody can give me a hint on how to backup my current (original) ROM before I try to flash it with Alpha 1 discussed in the other thread here.
