TomTom N7 GPS lag - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Themes and Apps

Hi
Does anyone know how to get rid of the annoying GPS lag on TTN7 when using it on TP2?
I'm currently using TTN7 v7.195(9196) ad have purchased map v675.1409 from TomTom.com and everything is working great except that I have a approx 3 second GPS lag.
Thanks!

Anyone using Bluetooth GPS?

Hi all,
Anyone using BT GPS?
If so, which one, how do you find it, and what software are you running.
Thanks Guys..
Ratzz,
I use a holux unit, coupled with Garmin Que and GPS Proxy. It only works well wih the tytn rom. I tried it with the DOPOD rom but it keeps freezing the screen.
Another note, Using the tytn rom has eliminated my alignment issues with regards to the screen.
regards
TomTom 6 & a Fortuna GPSlim.
Takes a little while to sort itself out when TomTom starts, but seems fine after a couple of minutes.
I cant use Tom Tom cause of the malaysian Map not being available
I'm using Holux GPSlim 236 with Destinator 6 when on the road and OziExplorer when roaming in nature.
yes I do
Using a Xloc and tomtom 6
Work great
Holux GPSlim 236 with Tomtom 5 (I am about to upgrade) and PTGmap for topo maps in Garmin format.
Using Destinator 6 (yep, I work in Destinator) with a large variety of BT GPS: GNS, Royaltek, Globalsat, Emtec and some others.
Do not forget that after you pair a GPS using MS BT manager, you also need to enable an outgoing portfor this connection.
I'm using Tom Tom 6 with Hamlet gps BT and it's ok!!!

I am using Iguidance with the Globsat 338 Its ok, the only problem is that if a call comes through, you have to restart the program.
Which one is the fastest and smallest SirfIII-based BT GPS unit you would suggest for TomTom?
Fortuna Clip-on for me, used with iGo on my m3100, although I have also used it with tomtom on previous pda's. Will upgrade tomtom and put that on a memory card shortly.
I'm using a Navilock BT338 GPS Mouse (SIRF3), which works perfectly together with my MDA3,MDApro and MDA Vario2 as well! I'm using it with TT5.21 for more than a year, and will upgrade to TT6 (just tested, works fine too!) soon.
The navilock keeps contact to satellites which are not seen/found by several others, can even be kept in your pocket and works without problems behind thermo-windows in cars! It is very small and is working over a whole day without loading, standby more than a week, and ist very easy to set up (connect to COM4).

Herald + bluetooth GPS + GPS Apps?

Anyone has tried using a bluetooth GPS thingie with the Herald and any apps like Destinator or TomTom?
If yes what was your opinion?
My main questions are on:
What app you used and with which GPS hardware?
Battery consumption
CPU/Mem usage and how well the app run
^_^ tnx a million.
Im interested in this as well. Does anyone use any GPS software for their Wing?
I use TomTom 6 and Route66 with a Holux GPSlim236...
The battery consumption depends on the time I use it... Long usage time means more battery drain.
The CPU/Mem usage I'm not sure, but the apps run ok without visible delay between the real position and the position indicated by the program.
EDIT: Forgot to tell onde thing... In TomTom6, the more POI's you select the bigger is the delay between the real position and the one indicated by the program.
I'm using iGO My Way 2006 with this GPS mouse and I'm very satisfied with it.
Have used the software so far in Germany in Netherlands and it didnt fail me at all.
Speed is great on my XDA terra (and before on my XDA neo) which is important,
because some navigation software are running slow on those 200MHz devices.
It's important because on shorter roads and lots of corners the display scrolls
way to slow while you are actually already in the corner.
The voice commands are usually exact and in time just not the display.
Right now I'm testing Navigon MobileNavigator. The map looks nicer, but it is slower than iGO. Can't tell much about TomTom, Route66 and Destinator.
Haven't got my hands on them yet.
I'm using a Holux M1000 GPS Bluetooth Receiver with Destinator 6 and Destinator 7.
Destinator 7 freezes sometimes, but I think it's related to the "Stand by" configuration. With Destinator 6 it works fine.

Rodolpho
Well, I'm not yet on WM6, but TOMTOM6 works great with my herald, with a lot of POI, without any delays, and i use a MTK chipset's bluetooth GPS receiver.
I am told that WM6 is faster than WM5 for softwares such as tomtom, so...
Wing/WM6/TomTom6 here. After the pagepool hack (6MB), and after removing most of the stuff from the startup folder (my5aves in particular), TomTom works just fine, not a problem.
Battery life is satisfactory, much better than Axim x30 for sure. You might have to shut down huuuuuge programs like PocketIE manually, before starting TomTom.
Ask some specific questions, please. I'm too lazy to write a complete review this time
I have a WM6 Wing with a Holux 1000 BT GPS. I can't seem to get Tomtom 6 to work on it. The program just can't find the receiver. iGuidance 4 works fine even though it is a bit sluggish. Can anyone help me? I think I've tried two different types of BT GPS receivers and still no luck.
I am running TT6 on WM6 Herald.
TT6 is not that smooth as on my previous Qtek 9000...although I am overclocking to 247 and running on 8MB PP. Maybe its caused by my 4GB MicroSD card I dont know!
Also I have a few "bugs" on my TT, voice instructions sometimes do not match the visual commands and the daylight/night colors function is reversed.
Have reinstalled TT on a fresh WM6 installation with the same results...
Will see now if there is a difference between version 6.01 and 6.03...
And yes I have paid for my TT6 !
HTC4350 here with Holux GPSlim 236
Working with MapFactor Navigator 6, GPS Utilities and Oziexplorer just fine
Also tried GPS Tuner but it won't start because it needs more free memory, though i haven't yet tried the pagepool change.
Other than that, works perfect

Try 6MB PP. No glitches at all, as long as I exit Internet Explorer first. And of course removing everything but btdwake, CapNotify, poutlook and WiFiInit from Windows/Startup. I think I'll remove poutlook, too and see if that stops ActiveSync from starting all by itself all the time.
Also I have a few "bugs" on my TT, voice instructions sometimes do not match the visual commands and the daylight/night colors function is reversed.

None of that here, using 6.030 (8320).
I am using TT6 with WM6 without any problems! And it runs fast!
My BT GPS receiver is a cheap Sirf3.

Using TT6 (6.0.3.0 8320) with a TomTom BT GPS and it works great, never had to configure the GPS, TT always find it. But I can't get OziExplorer working with the TT GPS.
Thanks
Hello all,

TomTom 7 on XV6800

Hello,
I'm looking into enabling gps on my VZW XV6800 and I saw that the TomTom7 is out. Does the TomTom 7 work on the XV6800 or will I have to use the TomTom6?
Thanks,
Chris

I'm an advance GPS user with a Verizon Titan (XV6800) and custom ROM. I'm fully unlocked with a completely functioning GPS (no AGPS here and no digital connection fees).
I'm really impressed with Garmin XT for the phone and novice users. The added features through WIFI are very good. Speedcams and other added features are easily obtained for for a small fee or free for experienced users (lots of sites to download free).
Superior of all the SW out there is IGO8, 3D terrain and 3D buildings in major cities (WoW). Highly customizable --- the very best (NavNGO.com)
I would not buy or desire to use Tom Tom, I have over 40 hours of use and do not like their SW no matter how I try.
Least expensive SW with the greatest utility (including free trial) is POLNav v5.
RangerDave and ShadowT thanks for the info.
RangerDave could you point me in the direction where I can download the TT7 for the XV6800? Also I believe that once I have the TT7 running it will ask me to download a map of my area to demo correct?
Thanks,
Chris

Well since you have 2 posts here I will tell you like this.
Dear Mr @%$^*!$$.
Asking for free software is not following the rules here.
You will either pay $$ for it or hit up your other friend "google" and see what he says. Even with google you may still pay for it with a nice fat bug on your pc.
I'm not going to tel you how to get it for free unless tomtom web site has a free trial, then you still have to unlock the software, optain the map, unlock the map, create a pair of files with some special code that were a pain in the butt..............
RD
Ok,
I'm not looking at getting it for free what I'm not understanding is you said you had TT7 working. I go to TomTom's site I don't see TT7 Navigator only TT5 and TT6. Then I read that the Navigator is free but you have to buy the maps. I don't have a problem buying the maps as long as I know it works on my phone. From what I had read in other posts is that you can install TT7 and then through TT7 go to the TomTom site and download a demo map of your area. This is what I want to try to find out if I can get it working on my phone. I know I have to do some rom upgrades and radio upgrades to get GPS working on the phone but I would like to try it with a Demo if they have one before I go out and buy it. When I asked for a link I was more referring to a link on TomTom's site where the TT7 could be downloaded with the demo maps. However I can't even find TT7 on the site at all.
Thanks,
Chris

Chris,
I have the mogul 6800 and have the TT7 and it is pretty reliable- so highly recommend it. I paid someone (works at cellphone place) to upgrade my rom (Sprint) and get the GPS working. I have also tried iGO8 but it was somewhat buggy... but great app. My bud has iGuidance 09 on his XV6800, it works great as the TT7 and doesn't hogg the few memory that the htc 6800 has... But my other bud has the HTC Touch Pro with Garmin TX and that is the best one, visual speaking..
But I say the TT7 is just right for the 6800... I hear the new Diamond2 will also pre-installed too.
Worth upgrading to get the GPS working...
Good luck Chris...
ok so I have TT7 loaded on my XV6800 and I have the "Valhalla_Legends_GPSServer" running in Mode=0. Google maps works great about 6 sats. GPS Toggle also says about 6 sats and another program I have for gps works. However when I have TomTom up the GPS signals keep jumping all over the place. Not the normal slight jumping but I'll go from North South East West and back and forth. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
So i've got TomTom working by using GpsGate 2.6 and setting tomtom to use Other NMEA GPS receiver with baud rate of 9600 and the Franson COM2. I'm not sure why it's working this way but then again I wasn't sure why the GPS cordinates where jumping all over when I had it set to use Internal GPS without GpsGate. The problem I have right now is that GpsGate is only a demo for 14 days. Does anyone know of a freeware app that will do the same thing or another way to get TomTom to work?
Thanks
I installed TomTom 7 on my XV6800 with all the maps and it works, but it says: "No GPS device!"
My GPS is unlocked and was working with google navigator, but the problem is that i have to have wifi to download maps and such.
Can someone help me getting the GPS activated with TomTom?

TomTom7

Hi does anyone know if you can use TomTom7 on the HTC touch 3g, thanks for your time.
Nick
Yes.
Loaded it on sons 6 months ago no problems.
Only problem you need to install No Data and modify settings as it tries to log on to Orange, well it did on his.
Also running TT7 on my Touch 3G..
It works OK, doesn't lock up HOWEVER.. There is a fair lag between where you are and where it shows you on the map.. It may only be 1/2 a second but you can travel a long way in that time. Very anoying if you are trying to find your way through a city with a lot of turns..
I just use mine now as a backup otherwise I use a TT XL IQ live... (mind you even that has locked up a couple of times in a 6 weeks I've had it !!!)
Phil-w
Yes it works. I, however, use an external bluetooth GPS reciever thus avoiding the slow satellite 'hunting' you get with the built in one on startup. As for lag, not noticed it, must be the external GPS working better.
Tomtom 7
Hi thanks for the repies I tried to install it on my 3G but all it said was not compatable with the device any ideas to get it working thanks for all you time.
Nick
where did you get it from?
Hi got it off ebay but it is an orange phone
my tomtom 7 works fine on my jade
Hi tried to load tomtom 7 onto the phone again but just keeps telling me this is not compatable or says not a true windows programe I am stuck any idears how to get it on the phone thanks for all your time
Nick
I try TT7 on my T3238 but doesn't work properly. Few minutes works OK, sometimes it jam. I change TT -> iGO8. It works OK. I have new maps of EU and works great! Good luck!
Hi,
Loaded TT 7.9 onto Jade WM6.1 Pro.
everything works fine but I must agree with Wolves4Ever, using an EXT. GPS
brings better results.
Hello all
I installed TT7 v7.450.9028 with France map v720.1802 on my Jade (HTC official rom).
A-GPS is off, TT7 works but I have the same pb as I it is not smooth (1 image per 0.5 second). I have also route66 navigate 7 -> it is very smooth !
As a consequence, the internal gps is not for me the limitant factor
I will try the last TT7 lolite version, but today is there some parameters I can change to improve the TT7 speed ?
Thanks !
Ok so I made a test today > everything is fine !!! It works great
I have the Lolite version v7.916 with the same map, I removed all the POIs vision on the map, it is very smooth.

HTC HD2 installing two GPS Apps

Has anybody have more than one GPS APP installed on there HTC HD2 phone, just wondering if there was any problems with ports an if you need a port spliter,i have Tomtom7 installed and want to install Twonav pocket.
Has any one had problems with this
Thanks
I've been using with no problems both tomtom and navicomputer at the same time with no problems at all, while tomtom navigated, navicomputer saved the track.
I also tried nonigpsplot at the same time with navicomputer... never tried all three at the same time though but I think they will just work
I have 6 apps installed calling for GPS and no single problem with each of them
i got tomtom and navigon on my hd2
working perfectly
Igo8, Navigon, TomTom and some "smaller" GPS-Progs
Thanks guys for your info i will go ahead and put more GPS apps on my phone now thats great to hear,i asked because i had a mio moov 300 unlocked and had problems with port shareing two different apps but it sounds like the HTC HD2 can handle it.
Thanks again
