Alright, so i got this phone from a friend to try to fix, as i've done some work with android phones before, mostly just following directions from various forums on this website.
the phone is stuck at its bootloader scree. this is what it says

i can't do anything. buttons don't seem to do anything, and windows doesn't recognize the phone when i plug it in.
there's no SD or SIM card in it, but i can get one if i need to load a file.

ok im sorry for asking probably a stupid question but i don't want to mess up my phone...
for the past 4 hours (while at work lol) ive been trying to figure out how to root my phone and everywhere i go is a different way to do it... which one is the correct way.... and will actually work..

this one i put the sappimg.nbh in the root of my sd card and boot like it says and when i press the end button it just said no image.

so thats it.. im at a complete loss as to what i should do. ive done all kinds of fun stuff to other types of electronics so im not super new to modding but i dont want to ruin my phone haha i love my phone

I've tried the Unlockr guide (my phone needs a goldcard apparently), the guide on XDA specifically for my SPL, Cyanogen Wiki, and few other threads I found on good old xda. I even found a thread on T-Mobile's forums. All to no avail. I keep getting the "Model ID Incorrect!" message.
What can I do? Anything I might be doing wrong? Perhaps not getting the right SAPPIMG.ZIP/SAPPIMG.NBH? I've come across 3 or 4 all with different sizes and of course md5 hashes.
I will gladly disclose any information required to root my phone and make me happy monkey.

Im having the same issue, every sappimg.nbh/zip i try has update fail issues. I was getting version older message. Then i made a goldcard and got adb working. Now im getting no image when i flash and it wont recognize the img to update it now the newest one i tried says signature fail. I have the mt3g firmware 1.6 dmd64 with hboot 1.33.0007. I have a kingston 2g goldcard after trying to make one on a sandisk 2g. I tried formatting goldcard and starting over. I beleive it works comp and phone recognize it. Does anyone know the trick or have the correct sappimg. I just want to downgrade so i can continue, 47 hours or so into this.... plzzzze

No goldcard needed. Just read everything and you should have root in 5 mins.

FASTBOOT will not load the IMG file..
I heard that it was my SPL 1.33.0013 which I cant seem to change
When I try to do the SPL change (SAPPIMG.zip) it just says "Model ID Incorrect!"

@OP, sorry I'm not taking it out on you. Just the straw that broke the camels back... but for anyone else reading this I swear if this keeps up I will just delete your posts without warning. This is getting rediculous. I also maintain the Wing and Tilt forums and they have NO problems at all. Maybe once a month. This is at least twenty a DAY (about once an hour). I don't know what it is about Android but I'm going to have to start being tougher on everybody.

Hey guys. My phone's been rooted for a year or so now and I feel pretty comfortable with adb. But recently, I tried to use fastboot and it doesn't seem to work. I keep getting "FAILED (remote: not allow)" in trying to change the splash screen.
Do I need to update my SPL or whatever? I recently updated my RADIO (and saw a good signal improvement and battery life improvement). If you think this might help me, a clue to which thread(s) I should read up on would be most helpful.

It turns out that I seem to have a "perfect SPL" which means I need to fix that if I want to flash my splash screen. To fix it, I gotta make a goldcard and I'll be following this thread:

Yes you need eng spl to allow you flash from fastboot...

I have checked out the other threads and nothing has worked that i have found. I bought a used mytouch 3g that i hoped i could fix. the problem is that when you turn it on all i get is a red screen saying vodafone. it is a tmobile phone, i can get to the fastboot screen but no recovery and no boot. i have tried to load the system image, data, and stuff through fastboot from an old nandroid backup file i had from my original mytouch that i had lost but it keeps saying failed to verify signature. i have tried loading a new sappimg file but it keeps saying no image or wrong image. I have tried this with and without a goldcard. i don't know what else to try, nothing has worked.

First of all, wrong section. This belongs in General (where it'll probably be moved soon - Hi Binary!)
Second, what the hell kind of SPL is that?! Are you sure the numbers are right? I've never seen it.
Third, wrong radio for your device - 3.22 is the 32A (like the Rogers Magic) radio.
Can you boot into Recovery? With the phone powered down, hold down Home and Power.

I'm sorry for it being in the wrong section. all the info is correct i double checked it. no i can not get into recovery, all i can get is fastboot or the red screen.

Hi!
Strange that the OP mentioned that he searched all over yet he somehow missed the General section. How did that happen?
I've never heard of that spl so I'm not going to trash this in case it's something new and unheard of.
So... in conclusion I will simply move to General and send a pm the the OP stating that I moved it to General.
