I Have seen MANY posts aking about porting the Desire Z ROM to the G2, Well The G2 and Desire Z are BOTH HTC Vision, and people HAVE flashed the G2 ROM to The Desire Z, it WILL work visa versa, so just incase you were wondering IT WILL WORK!!!
I'm counting on it....I'm having major Sense withdrawls right now lol

Is there a way to do it now???
somebody need to hurry up and drop the ROM from the Desire Z!
It should also have everything working (BT, Camera, LEDs, etc) because HTC did all the work.

Exactly, I miss sense already lol
Actually coming from 2 previous Sense devices, I thought I would miss it on the G2, and I would rather have stock 2.2 than sense 2.2 anyday, much more pleasant experience on stock G2, just my opinion.

But how can I install into G2?
Gotta wait for the boffins to get their root good to go.
I honestly can't wait until some new roms are installed on this phone but I can't say I want Sense. I want to overclock this and get this stock off of here.

Ok, so basically we have one person with a Z looking device, running a G2 looking OS. I'm not saying it didn't happen, but I'm questioning the "fact" that "people" (1 person) have flashed a G2 rom on an unreleased HTC phone from unknown origin.
Until someone posts a method, ROM, etc, it's still out of reach.
Oh, another thing... Even if we have quasi-confirmation that you can go Z->G2, we have no confirmation that someone has gone the other way. Seeing how HTC is being a pain in the ass lately (from EVO onwards) it would seem that they have more to lose "giving" sense away to G2 users than giving "Google experience" to sense users. It could very well be another Nexus 1 vs Desire fiasco. I mean...same hardware, right? It *should* work, right?
Just my opinion - we don't have confirmation on squat as of yet.
How does the HD2 have a Desire Z ROM before the G2?
SO I just put the Desire Z Rom on my HD2 and I love it. HTC really made some good improvements to sense. I get my G2 delivered Monday I hope we have the Desire ROM running by then.
If I were to flash a desire z ROM to a g2, will I be able to use the new htc sense UI and htcsense.com?
Over in the Desire Z forum someone posted the RUU for it.. check it out here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=797793
Some one that knows what they're doing can get the Desire Z ROM from it.. I would do it if i could but dont think i cant with out a G2 or a Desire Z...
If the Desire Z ROM flashes successfully to the G2 via the RUU, perhaps there is a vulnerability in that ROM that would assist us with getting a root that sticks... Does anyone know if there are any engineering builds of the Desire Z ROM out there? Maybe one of them has a signed engineering HBOOT/SPL that we can flash from HBOOT or fastboot...
On that note, I could care less about sense. I just want CM6.

I put the Desire Z Rom on my HD2 and I have access to the new sense and htcsense.com
I was able to get the zip file from the ruu but trying to flash thru bootloader named pc10img.zip don't recognize like the other one does.
If any one knows flashing the tmo one to dsire was named the same pc10img.zip or something different

I just got a G2 a few days ago. Its advertised as running Sense. I dont have it. and ive seen around many other done either.
It says online if you have TMO you can get it from https://www.htcsense.com/
Can someone sign up? get it? and temp root and post the package?
Thanks!

That's the Desire Z, it's a phone hardware identical to the g2 but instead of stock android, it has Sense 2 (i think there calling it). it's released in Europe, not here.
In other words
Desire Z = Europe version and has sense
G2 = US version with vanilla
but once we figure out a perm root im sure a ROM will be created easily

Hey guys,

Looks like we have a possible dump of a Gingerbread with sense enabled! Motoman will verify the ROM and see if it can be ported. The ROM comes from the HTC Huashan/A9188/T9188, which is basically a re-release of the HD2 for the chinese community. Here's hoping it'll be easily ported!
honestly the desire DHD is more like HD2 and not the HTC Huashan. the hardware is totally different :/

Right, agreed. But this is the first Gingerbread Sense build that's in the wild, so porting it might be possible... Hopefully it'll give us the benefits of Ginger with Sense (Which is what I want).

I have just seen some wildfire s movies and the point is:
it's runneing gingerbread and it has a flip clock.
My question is: If the htc wildfire s has nearly the same things as the normal wildfire.
Can we (if the wildfire s is released) port gingerbread from the s version to ours.
Or will there be an update with the new sense and gingerbread.
Please could someone that know something about it say something to me, please.
And my second question is: Can someone already put the new sense in a rom.
I hope someone really know something about it.

It is not nearly the same. It is totally different. And, to get the new Sense, the code has to be released by HTC. Till that, there wont be a GB Sense Enabled ROM for the Wildfire.
Also, I am pretty sure with the release of the S, HTC will not conveniently forget the original Wildfire and probably not release any updates for it. Its basically an EOL Product now. Its the way the industry works.
After some monthes on the market every mobile phone is EOL. You are right!

If you really want gingerbread on wildfire, you can try Cyanogen 7. There is no htc sense with cyanogen though.
Just for the new sense

It is possible to get the Gingerbread update but no way it would get the new Sense.

I mean can not one app ported to a aosp rom?
Simply because HTC apps require a framework that AOSP ROMS do not have as it is power consuming and is slow.

As djdevine2 stated above, porting Sense would be very hard or even impossible. Sense is like a bug that crawls really deep inside the Android OS. Eliminating is it hard, I imagine introducing it would be also very, very hard.
And not to mention the possible Legal issues that could appear
maybe there is hope
It has also been rumored that the HTC Wildfire will receive the recently released 2.3 Gingerbread update.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTC_Wildfire
This is just a rumor, but there is still hope.
Doesn't look so. If you look at the citation on that particular line, and, read that thread in another forum, there is nothing there to state that HTC has said anything about 2.3 on Wildfire. It is simply a speculative thread, and, points to CM7 for 2.3 on Wildfire.
"You can have your doubts about when your phone maker will finally get around to delivering an Android 2.3 update (March if you're with HTC, June if Samsung, 2017 if you're unfortunate enough to own a Sony Ericsson), but the smartphone dev community doesn't work that slowly. The guys who build custom ROMs just for the sheer pride of it have already begun work on delivering Gingerbread to owners of HTC's EVO 4G, Droid Eris, and Wildfire."

The G2X has a light weight UI made by LG on it. It's 95% pure AOSP, but that 5% throws us for a loop. With that being said i do not know of a LG ROM for our phone as of now.

Not really understanding your request... But if you want a ROM like the one on the G2x then CM6 would be your choice... As for Sensation, eVil D's Virtuous ROM will be your choice.

I found something interesting, In the CDMA Wildfire (AKA, Bee) I pressed the compare button and chose the normal GSM wildfire (buzz). In the android version the buzz was upgradable to android 2.2 froyo BUT THE BEE WAS UPGRADABLE TO 2.3 GINGERBREAD !!
Aren't they supposed to be the same phone but with different radios ?
A message to HTC: WTF ?!!!!!
Another thing, anyone knows what's the HTC sense version of the gingerbread bee ? Any RUUs available ? maybe it will be easier to port it from an almost similar device
If u wanna check by yourself, click here

these bees surprise me more and more. even though i am in the uk i am actually considering getting one of these just to f**k with it and see what it can really do. maybe even be able to port a recovery and cm7 to this device. cant be that hard surely. and ive seen the prices used on ebay for about £30 or so but they wont post outside the us :/ i am aware that the call/text functions wont work outside the us but the wifi would still work so maybe i could get this mysterious gingerbread update as well. thoughts?
oh, and ive only been able to find one ruu and i tore it to pieces only to find that its stock 2.2.1
I remember when i was looking for a way to get gingerbread on my wildfire (LOL it seems like it was the stone age then ) I read that someone had his wildfire on gingerbread out of the box.
