What is the best backup method for the froyo roms we are all running?
I usually use My Backup Pro but it doesn't restore all my apps for some reason? Also used Titanium but ended up stuck at white HTC screen after a restore and even nandroid restore to clean rom install didn't work. Was I just unlucky once with Titanium? Can titanium backup SMS etc too I only saw apps it never restored SMS. Thanks!
Titanium Backup does it all for me.
SMS's, e-mail(accounts), wireless networks. (All apps, appdata and systemdata)
Can't think of anything it doesn't backup.
I always run a batch backup, this force closes running applications (although this is optional), so this might cause a white screen.
It's supposed to do everything you want, so there's no need to look any further (unless it really doesn't work for you...)

Mate, whar version of MyBackup Pro are you using? I know that there were certain bug fixes after v2.3.3. Im using v2.3.4 and it seems to work fine when backing up and restoring apps/data.
Try the later version.
2.3.6 so I guess it is some incompatibility somewhere. Just gone back to MCR 3.1 and it did the same. Probably less than half my apps were restored!
i can confirm that Mybackup pro 2.4.0 works flawlessly on froyo.. im backing up as we speank
If you have the native A2SD enabled on FroYo, MyBackup Pro won't back up the apps that are on the SD card.

i'm using titanium, not had any problems with backups. i use A2SD+ not the froyo A2SD though.
I use backup pro.
just make sure you have a partitioned sd card with can be done with rom manager or you will lose all your sd apps when you wipe before installing a new rom.
as i did..... haha
hi everyone,
is there any way to update a version from the same android build and
keep my apps and accounts information?
Thanks a lot!
As far as I know, only some ROMs support the ability to do that e.g When I updated Darkstone Froyos ROM from V3.1 to V3.2, I kept the data.img file and replaced all the others, however with the latest and last build I couldn't do that because the ROM simply wouldn't load. So as an alternative I used Launcher Pro and Titanium backup to save and restore my settings. To backup applications I recommend you use Astro file manager. All of these applications are free and can be found on the Android market. I hope I helped.

Dont use your old data.img with new build. Use Titanium Backup Pro instead and only backup usr apps not system. Using old data.img can cause issues.
Backups your apps and a clean install.

Thx for your help! - What you said has done the job. Backuped my data with appmonster instead of Titanium Backup Pro, wiped the Android directory on the SD and made a fresh install of BoxMax 6.6. After boot up, i restored all my apps with appmonster and the whole system is running now. The next time, i will finally flash the rom to NAND ;-)
Hi together,
is it possible to backup my current contacts, sms or my system settings from my actual HD2 ROM (Desire HD 3.06.405.1 - Sense 3.0 - Android 2.3.5 [v1.3][HierOS 1.7.2])?? I just want to try some other ROMs but i would like to recover my contacts and sms after doing that...
my contacts get synch'd to google
sms backup to backup and restore sms - plenty of these apps on the market
Use Titanium backup software. You can take trial version from market. I think is perfect for backup everything during reflashing
GL
Mine i think is backed up via my google account
Hello Alex91284. I posed the same kind of question not too long ago Here, and Here. I ended up doing both a Titanium backup, which is great when updating the current rom or restoring to the same type of rom, but I found going from ACA(CM7) to a Sense rom (Runnymede) didn't work out so well for system data and account info (one used an Accounts ap, and the other an Accounts and Sync ap, ect, ect), and also found MyBackup root, which was great for backing up settings and contacts/sms/mms/call log/ect. If your like me and don't want to put your data online in 'the cloud' then I'd suggest using MyBackup root, its free and pretty good. I still use Titanium for downloaded aps though, so I can't say how well MyBackup will work for them.
Any Titanium Backup experts here?
I was running Wajk MIUI 2.12.28 version on my Defy Plus MB526. When the update was released (3.1.27), I thought this is a good time to do a clean install.
So I backed up all user apps+data using TB Pro and wiped my phone. Upon flashing the new ROM, I restored everything easily.
HOWEVER, the notes that I had created in the Memo/Notes app are missing. How do I get them back? When I check in TB history, it shows zero backup for Notes.
I checked the TB folder, no entry for Notes app. Neither is there any backup in MIUI folder. What to do now?

Usually is this backed up with your google account or memo/notes app server. Give it some time to sync.

Ironically, the MIUI Notes app did NOT have sync option in the last version (which I was on). If there was an option, I would have been the first one to sign up for it. I'm quite finicky about data loss.
And in the new ROM, they have included Sync with Google. But....when I have already lost all data!
I fail to understand how Titanium did not backup/restore and neither did not have a copy of this data? Is there some kind of incompatibility?
TB has difficulties to restore data if you switch to completely different rom, e. g. from gingerbread based to CM based rom. But that's not your case. If you made a nandroid backup of your previous rom, you could try to restore data with CWM advance restore.
Or you may be able to use TB to extract the data from your nandroid.
There is no way to recover it as notes is a system app. It's possible no data was backed up for it. Sorry..
