usb debugging - Vibrant General

Guys please set usb debugging on at all times. My sister bricked and left it off. Bringing it back to life would have been a bit pain less if i could have adb it. Even if u don't have adb set for whatever reason u may need a rescue one day!
I urge u. Plz leave it checked on

Done .....

"USB-Debugging, Never do anything with out it"

You aren't kidding.
I only wish I could somehow remove it's ugly red icon from the notification bar.

Good tip cause ya never know

Computer won't recognize evo after failed root attempt!

So I had to get my screen repaired, which they did, but in turn they ruined some other things. So when I brought it back the next day, they gave me a refurb evo. Not bad, whatever. But unfortunately, it came with 2.2 which I'd never rooted before. So I started with this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765496 but I ran into a problem and was forced to close cmd, but then I found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=787304 and tried it out, but now connecting my evo to the computer after the whole ADB thing doesn't bring up the menu. It simply charges, but says USB device not recognized. Did I mess something up real bad with the adb thing? Any help is greatly appreciated.. this is getting really frustrating
Now I'm not even sure if it's charging.. the light shows after I plug it in for a minute, but it says battery status: Discharging. The battery icon isn't showing it as charging though.. This is really starting to worry me. Refurb crap
I dont understand this:

If you used unrevoked why are you now trying to use adb? What menu? My shot in the dark translation is that you told it to remember your setting to charge by default.
Menu-Settings-Connect to PC- check ask me.
I first tried the old method which I posted with the complex cmd stuff and everything, it didn't work. So then I was gonna try the simpler method of HBOOT and everything, but when I connected to the computer to get rid of PC36IMG from the SD card first it won't recognize the evo. And the default is set to charge, but ask me is checked. It doesn't ask, it just lags it for a little while and then starts charging.
EDIT: Guys this is getting ridiculous! I've tried 2 different batteries and 2 different charging cables and if I can get the charging light to turn on, it just says discharging! The phone won't even read my SD card! I don't know what to do! I'm gonna take it off the cable now so it doesn't completely the discharge the battery and hopefully wakes me up when I need it to, if the battery lasts. Please guys, I need help asap I've been working on this thing for hours and I have a midterm to study for..
Double edit: I'm gonna put it on the cable.. hoping that once it discharges all the way it'll start charging? Or even if it does drain all the way it'll stay on at least.. I can't even get the charging light to turn on right now. Man, this is horrible. I'm really really worried. I just paid $110 to get this fixed, this is driving me crazy. If anyone can help, please do.
Unrevoked, then rom manager to flash a new rom = full root in 20 minutes at the most.
To do the unrevoked method, as far as I know, I have to connect to my computer and do that HBOOT crap right? Well, I can't connect to my computer. In fact, it just rained my battery last night, shut off the phone, then charged it to about 90%. Now I turned it on again, and it's just "discharging" all over again. This is ridiculous. I'm gonna go back to the Sprint store for the fourth day in a row and probably end up getting another refurb piece of crap that won't work.

[Q] Screen broken on Droid 2 Global on Froyo USB Debugging off

Greetz
My sister had a Droid 2 Global with Verizon and then one day she accidentially got some coffee spilled over it... it was never soaked, but it was affected enough to render the phone useless... and ever since she got a replacement phone I have been trying to figure out how to make use of this puppy.
It is running Froyo and I know that USB Debugging is NOT enabled.... it is off. So I cant do anything with this without usb debugging.
The video above - thats the extent of the screen turning on. I cant give up on this thing -- it turns on, it vibrates, and the green LED light flashes with a message. I just cant see the runtime. DroidExplorer, AndroidCommander, QDBADB are not picking it up and forget about adb commands because my sis is not the kind to root or mess with her phone so I know she did not have USB debugging enabled.
I have followed the guides here and there... http://droid.koumakan.jp/wiki/Android_Recovery and nothings happenin.. just the screen light comes on.
I want to try flashing SBF or flashing recovery or FORCING usb debugging on.... if I can at least root this thing, it is going to be useful with or without a screen. Does anyone have ideas for me to try? Or is my only option to mess with hardware? Its literally brand new.
So a long post short... how do I force usb debugging? there MUST be a way...
short and fugly video here to basically show the screen light coming on.
http://youtu.be/gz2FudevWCw
Heres a link to force USB debugging -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1146358 suggested to obtain a backup and flash it or restore it with USB enabled... however need root to do that...
Then I am wondering about somehow getting build prop and changing it to "persist.service.usb.setting=1" -- again you need root... right?
All you need to do to SBF is to get into bootloader, which shouldn't be an issue. Odds are the digitizer just needs to be replaced if you'd like a functional device.
no kiddin? Thanks for giving me hope! Everyone else is telling me to throw it off a cliff, but I cant do it yet. Ok... I am going to learn about SBF now... (my first dabble with a moto device) thanks mate!

Screen doesn't work anymore! Please Help!

Hello there,
today, it just happened out of the blue, my pretty new S7 does only show up a blank grass green screen now! It can be turned off and on, touch works. I just can't see anything at all anymore. I really need a way to mirror the screen to the PC or something... USB debugging is not active :crying:. There are some apps installed, I need to use because I have to create the backup files in them!
What would be the easiest way to get access to this?
The phone is connected to my WiF if that helps.
Thank you so much!
I need help really urgently. (
Put it in download mode and reflash in odin

If you can aquire a mhl cable for your s7 you will be able to output the video output of the s7/edge to a tv/display. Just search mhl cable for s7 edge on amazon or ebay and you should be good to go.
Edit: just read the s7 and the s7 edge don't support mhl so you might be out of luck.
@Rydah805 I want to backup my data .... and I don't think that would help at all. The screen is pretty much done.
@amar95353 I read online that there is no more MHL support on the S7 anymore.

Your SOL on data. You can try SmartSwitch on PC but even then you'll need to approve the backup via the phone.

Original answer deleted. I'm a complete idiot. I should have checked but believe I was given incorrect information from my sprint sales person on location of reset. Sorry.
I turned off the phone many times.
Phone works fine, just the screen doesn't. I found a lot of forum posts for this problem it seems common...
I didn't root this phone.
Now, I finally know what's the hole for LMAO! What does happen if I poke it? Update: Hey, that hole is not used for resetting the phone. It's for noise reduction.
I don't think this will help on a broken screen anyway.
slaldrich said:
i assume you turned your phone completely off and on again (not just the screen).
If you did that, did you try a reset? There is a little hole on the top of your phone and in your box, you received a little tool. Poke the hole and hold it in until something happens (a few secs). This sort of reset is like pulling the battery. You should not lose any data in doing this.
If you created this problem by trying to root your phone unsuccessfully... Then you will probably need to odin new stock software.

please dont put anything in that hole. This is not a reset button............... ITS A MICROPHONE and that tool its design to open the sim card bay.
Don't worry, I wont do that.
I'm so stuck here... and also I need to send this phone to T-Mobile! Right now I 'm using an iPad as a phone replacement. lol
Just wish I could save this data...
Is your screen experiencing this?
http://i.imgur.com/iOmtR2T.jpg
If so, it's a defective screen.
I got mine replaced already since it was under 30 days replacement guarantee. You can read more about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3359221
But the bad news is you won't be able to backup anything. I had to sacrifice a lot of stuff as well.
This is exactly what my screen does look like! And I did not only had problems with the screen, I wasn't able to get my carrier's settings automatically, I have problems with the charging, it won't display my phone number in the settings and also sometimes the camera app freezes. I installed the updates which didn't change anything. This new smartphone which doesn't even has a tiny scratch, never fall down is totally wrecked. Really disappointed about this "top high end" phone. I don't trust, that it will work after they "repeard it". I have it since release.
It's like really a huge amount of data... Of one app it is everything from 2 years (7GB)! There is no possibility to create a backup, you can just send the data to a new phone via WiFi that's all. If your phone breaks everything is lost.
I realized many app developers don't take enoughh care of backup solutions.
Yesterday the screen got back to life but just for a short moment
So it seems like there is no way to get back this data...
Can I get back my WhatsApp backup at least? I was able to create a backup before the screen died. When I plug in the phone to PC I can see "Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge" in my explorer an that's about it. When I click on it there is no content to show.
I just got an idea how to enable the god damn USB debugging!
Can someone share here how to connect the device as a mass storage to PC (by screenshots please)!
I was just thinking, I can work my way to the Developer Options by taking screenshots but I need to access the media for this!
When I connect the device to PC and then click on Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge it's empty... There most be done something before.
Thanks!
You guys can call me a ****ing genius! I managed to install Teamviewer by taking screenshots and look at them on the PC (I set up the device as mass storage blindly) so I knew what to do next. It was still tricky but possible.
I'm recovering my data now.
Thanks to the Google voice app I was able to type in "Teamviewer"
Thank you anyway!

It wasn't really easy dude... The most difficult was to make this damn thing work as a mass storage device. So I could finally have access to the data on the Windows Explorer.... I was just touching on the screen like a maniac!
But this is a way to do it guys. If you own a Galaxy S7 Edge I recommend to activate USB debugging and install Teamviewer quick support (Samsung version, there are different editions) just in case the screen breaks. lol I install Teamviewer on all my devices now...
Hey! The same thing just happened to my phone an hour ago. Green grassy screen. It's terrible!
Ok, so what were the steps you took in order to get to where you can turn on USB debugging and backup your phone?
Well, what happens when you connect your phone to your Computer (USB)? If nothing, then you need to check connect the device as camera or mass storage, blindly! Which is kinda tricky... You need to pull down your notification bar and then select the USB options thing and in this menu which pops up you need to select camera or mass storage... But once you get that done, you're good to go! You will be able to take screenshots and view them on your computer instantly. You don't really need to care about USB debugging, you can just get Teamviewer Quick Support (for Samsung) that is really important, the normal version won't work!

Thanks for the reply. It actually looks like my issue was much worse. My phone degraded pretty quickly, since I wrote my post. It got to a point that while I could type on my lockscreen, it wouldn't go past and enter the OS. I didn't even have a green screen anymore, the screen turned to an off black. At that point, I gave up and sent it in for repairs. I think the motherboard got fried.

Is it possible to enable USB debugging with adb through a custom recovery?

Hello people,
so a few days ago I dropped my Galaxy S5 and the screen is now black, I can't use it. I want to try to save the data, but it's not as easy as plug in and transfer, since I have a password that I can't unlock. Using a screen mirroring program is also out of question, because I had USB Debugging disabled before I dropped it.
My next thought was to enable USB debugging with the help of adb, but that didn't work, since adb sees my device as "unauthorized". It still shows up as "Samsung Android ADB Interface" up in the Windows Device Manager.
So my next thought was to flash a custom recovery such as CWM via Odin (my phone doesn't have to be rooted for that, right?). That way I could use the volume keys to navigate through recovery mode once I enter it. All I would have to do is look at screenshots online and count how many times I press the volume buttons to know when to hit enter since the sceen doesn't work.
Would that even be helpful? I really hope that someone can help me or at least tell me there is no possible way to recover the files so I can sleep in peace. I've been trying so much, but all I find is more problems. I even had to use the Samsung 300K tool to enter Download mode, since that didn't work at one point. And I did that to use Dr. Fone's Android Lock Screen Remover which didn't remove my password. So that was 50 dollars well spent.
Looking forward to any kind of help, really desperate right now!
i dont think you can enable usb debugging from outside of the GUI. Can you use one of those MHL devices to get the display output to something? Perhaps the digitizer will still recognize touch input and let you turn it on from there.

That's a pretty good idea! Looks like I haven't tried everything after all. I'll take a look if I the local electric market has some sort of adapter or is there anything I have to take into consideration? I am not familiar with the term MHL...

Nexus 6P bootloop fix

Hello!
My nexus 6P is in bootloop. However, USB debugging is disabled. I can't access recovery mode. What options do I have to fix my device? I am willing to unlock my bootloader even if the internal storage will be wiped. I have come across a thread about a fix but it says that it will affect device performance. Is there any way to fix this without compromising performance?
Thank you!
didnt you ask this question already a few days ago about saving the data? idk what thread you found but when it happened to me, i heated up the phone (in my space behind my knee lol) and it eventually booted long enough to get the debugging enabled.
This has been treated before, Heat it and try again

Yes, I asked this before but I was initially hoping to retrieve my files. But now, I just want to get my device to work again. I tried heating it with a hair dryer but it didn't work.
my advice, dont use hair dryer cause youll never know how hot you need it. plug your phone to charge, turn it on and stick the phone behind your knee (squished between your hamstring and calf). if you aint thick, be patient and let your body heat do the magic. every few minutes check to see if the bootloop stopped and when it does, immediately go to settings > about phone and tap the build number until you get dev options. back out, go to that and enable the oem unlocking and usb debugging
