Refreshing Facebook Contact Photo

Hello All,
Am new to HTC Android Phone. I have setup my contacts photos to be picked up from the respective Facebook Profiles. Although this happened the first time, if a contact changes the photo on facebook it is not getting updated in the phone? Is there a way to manually force an update??
Facebook sync is enabled (i guess once every 12 hours) and it has been several days since the contact updated the profile pic on FB.

I have the same problem, my contacts aren't updated >.<
Pretty annoying, but I have not found a way yet to fix it. Looks like a problem with facebook for android.
If anyone has more information, please tell us

It seems that the facebook sync method doesn't check if the facebook profile pic is updated or not. Probably to save network bandwidth and sync time. But it is kind of annoying that it is not updated.

I have exactly the opposite problem. The pictures assigned to my contacts in google keep getting updated with those in facebook. While I don't mind that for contacts that do not have pictures in Google, it is quite annoying for such that do.

i pressed the sync all widget and all my face book images updated
my legend is rooted and running the modaco rom tho

Strange that it works for you. Can't see how a root or new rom would change anything. I have the same problem, using stock unrooted rom. Kinda hoped it would be fixed with new update, but no luck

Where is this "sync all" button? I am not able to find it. Is it something specific to the rom?

But it does not seem to solve my problem... The old FB photos are still stuck to the profile...

I was also facing the problem of getting updated display pic from facebook and thought that there wasn't anyway to solve.. until after i ran into the FriendStream problem.
My FriendStream started acting strange and refuses to update friends' status today, it force closes when i try to launch the application proper. After reading up online, I did what others suggested, remove the facebook account and re-add it to FriendStream.. It got my FriendStream working again, plus a bonus - it "re-linked" with all my contacts in People and updated their profile pics! =D
Might take a while for it to fetch all the display pics again though, so I'd recommend doing it with a WiFi connection

my FB pictures don't updates, and worse, new FB contacts don't appear in my phone book. when I manually sync my FB account, there is a process that returns an error
the solution I found to force an update was to run friend stream, friends, facebook, menu, update
it takes some time

i know this is an old thread so hoping there was a better fix for this issue? terribly annoying

Doing a refresh in the friendstream app updates the photo in the app but not the contact photo
I have found no way to update the photos till now... have even tried unlinking the Facebook profile from the contact and readding - no use...

But I do hope that this gets fixed with a software update.

Facebook app - news feed displaying wrong, no status updates?

Anyone else having this problem with the facebook app on their HD2?
All status updates in the news feed appear to be wall posts to the same user (see pic attached).
Also Status Updates are just blank.
I've tried full reset, removing my memory card, and literally just installing the facebook app (from marketplace) and I still get the same issue.

oh, the same on my Facebook Client...

same here, this was reported in the energy rom thread too.
seems to be an error at facebooks end and theres not much we can do....
I would recommend using touch.facebook.com in the meantime....

I have this problem, but it hasn't started working again for me! If I log out and back in, it will gather updates once, but then it will stop working again!
Arghhhhhh!

I have the same problem with updates, my app won't update at all even if I hit refresh.

log out of facebook and log back in every time you want it to update. or use your browser.

Facebook update problem!

Hi all!
I have problems with facebook updates.
In tha Manila tab: "no updates or events"
In the facebook app: The first time I login all work ok, but if I close the app and then open it again, there isn't new updates.
I try to sing out my account and delete the files facebook.vol and facebookinfo.vol and don't work.
Any help?

Check the facebook threads elsewhere-the facebook app isn't working anymore. The manila tab probably has the same issue. FB must've changed something. This isn't a cooking issue.

There was a facebook "crash" I think it was either the 23rd or the 24th of last month that has caused the issue. It is really annoying but we are just going to have to bare with it untill they get it sorted

It is sorted out and working well for me on my HD2.

[Q] Facebook - Sense Trouble. Cant logon

I cant log on to the damn thing. I know that I'm entering the correct user/pass, but I'm allways getting a "There was an error trying to log on. Try again?"
If I intentionally enter the wrong pass, Im getting the message that the entered pass is wrong.
So I know that my PDA has communication with Facebook, but is still unable to log on.
I'm using the latest 1.36 ROM.
Anyone else who has this problem?

I haven't had the problem but have you tried to login on Facebook via their site? Maybe they had a technical problem.

No problems logging on, in a web browser.
m.facebook.com allso works flawlessly on the PDA.
But Facebook integration in HTC Sense, still dossent work

I have same problem so i now always use website.

i had trouble with this but after the htc rom update its been workin fine, although i do have to logout before closing the programme otherwise when i next login it wont refresh or update and comments or status's i make

I can log on to facebook, but it seems that updating stops as soon as I exit facebook app: When I start it again, the only way to get any refresh is to log off and then login to facebook again. Also, the phone shows that the new facebook version from marketplace is installed, but about dialog of the app shows 1.1.0.17 instead of version 1.2 that should be the newest one

After the Facebook crash in september no version at all is working. In the meantime I am using the facebook Instant messenger (fim). It is messenger and also good for accessing facebook. Try it, it works also on HD Mini. See my other posting:

[Q] facebook and twitter

hi i have already posted a similar thread to this one but didnt get any satisfactory answers or solutions, hopefully this time some one can HELP me
my Facebook (the HTC sense built in application facebook) does not download any pictures to my phone at all - no contact pictures or pictures from albums of my friends on facebook. even the FBcontact folder in windows is empty. my phone is sync with my facebook account, i dont have my contact sync with outlook so i dont see what is wrong with it. DOES ANY ONE KNOWS WHAT COULD GO WRONG?
also, my Twitter - the Peep app will not allow me to log in. every time i try to log in a window pops up that says that i have entered a wrong username and password wich i didnt. if i try to install the peep hotfix a window pops up again the says that the hot fix is not for my phone.
i have installed the lates vodafone ROM 1.41.161.1 WWE
i made HARD RESET once but nothing had changed
anybody knows what can i do to make it work again? if any ideas please reply

prob facebook : close FB app. go to default web browser (Opera or IE )and choose option enable view photo.go to FB app

Have you tried with a standard Web browser? eg. opera login to Facebook and see if there showing pictures? because I think the problem is in the settings

i dont think it is the web browser. not sure now if u know for sure what i was talking about. it is the BUILT IN SENSE FACEBOOK APP mate. when i go to all PEOPLE and try to link a contact with a facebook contact the picture will not be downloaded. it will show a down arrow wich is suppose to mean that the pic is being downloaded but this down arrow is ment to be in a ring or something. mine isnt. its just a down arrow wich dissaper after a second or two. just seems like the pic get lost somewhere in a 2nd dimension lol
the contacts are linked (phone and facebook) but the pics to them are missing. the same when i try to open a facebook album from a linked contact, the pic wont be shown, downloaded.

maybe u can try downloading the latest FB app, V1.1.0.26, search for it in the marketplace..

Facebook : disable https on your facebook account
Twitter : i have the same problem, the hot fix doesnt install. I wrote to htc and they said "try to uninstall and install it again"
I hope they release a fix for twitter and for https on facebook soon...
